Disclaimer: This
blog mostly utilizes scanlations for scheduling purposes. If corrections are needed,
they’re noted after reading official translations. Both have a place in the
community, but buy official manga volumes to support the author. If you can,
also subscribe to Crunchyroll and/or Shonen Jump through Viz Media to read
chapters nearly simultaneous with Japan. Most of the series covered can be
found through legal means, so please encourage the industry that gives us what
we love
Both Kimetsu no Yaiba (which I
contemplated adding to the lineup for a while and could still do so, since it’s
only about 112 chapters compared to Fire Force’s 120+) and The Promised
Neverland are getting anime in 2019.
And for a series that I’m probably
adding in around chapter 4 of serialization, Orient, by Shinobu Ohtaka, who did
Magi previously and finished Sinbad’s Adventures as well, is a series focused
on an alternate universe where Oni took over Japan around the Warring States
period, condemning Bushi, warriors descended from the generals like Nobunaga
Oda and the like, to be treated as outcasts. But Musashi and Kojiro, who desire
to become Bushi and stop the Oni, manage to fight against their local
oppressors, Musashi inspiring Kojiro to realize that he should be proud of his
heritage and fight as well to become Bushi
Dr. Stone 61
Chrome hears whispering from above,
Gen and Senkuu still discussing their plan from last chapter
Gen asks Senkuu what the major focus
of Tsukasa’s kingdom is, Senkuu answering that it’s Tsukasa and his charisma.
This leads to Gen explaining that they should use Lillian’s charm and appeal to
sow chaos within the kingdom
He can try to imitate Lillian’s
voice, but Gen isn’t that good at it. But he notes that with the low sound
quality of the primitive phone, they could pass it off. To start off, they can
utilize the voice from the record to convince people that it’s the real deal
The plan is elaborated further in
having a Lillian voice tell Tsukasa’s army that the U.S. has been reconstructed
and are sending aid, the deception such that the concerns from before of going
to hell are justified in a sense, because they’d stop the war without bloodshed
this way.
Senkuu is fine with it, surprisingly
quick in his approval, though Chrome suddenly bursts from below, not understanding
things
It’s reiterated in more detail: they
transport one of the cell phones to Tsukasa’s kingdom, Taiju and Yuzuriha use
it to convey Lillian’s song and then they give a fake message by Gen imitating
her to let them think there’s support from America, dividing them in their
loyalty to Tsukasa and gaining control quickly
Gen and Senkuu are fine with being
the villains here, but Chrome says he should do it instead, the three agreeing
that they need each other’s help here
The first step is moving the
cellphone to Tsukasa’s kingdom, a team of three people chosen: Chrome to
engineer it, Magma to carry the parts and Gen to guide them to the base in
Tokyo
But Kohaku notes that Homura is
still in the area, her eagle-like vision letting her see the area where she’s
most likely been spying on them
Since they don’t want Chrome’s group
to be discovered, Senkuu says they need to create a distraction so they can get
away from Homura while she’s occupied
Using the electrolysis of water
we’ve seen before, they make sound bombs with relatively low power explosives
Scattering them in the area and
igniting them all, the explosions create a massive sound, Chrome’s group
leaving to get towards Tsukasa’s kingdom as the chapter ends with the Stone
Wars finally starting
We Can’t Study 65
Yuiga does his best to help Rizu’s
class sell the udon, moving to hand out coupons and spread the word
While he’s doing so, Yuiga runs into
Umihara and Kawase in cosplay outfits from a magical girl show that they were
going to do a live performance (lip sync in Viz’s translation, both could work
here) for their class. Uruka was also going to participate, but her costume got
delivered to another location by mistake
Uruka would be fine going out in a t
shirt, but she’s actually a big fan of the show, to Yuiga’s surprise, not
willing to do it incomplete. She was inspired by the incident where she and
Yuiga were on a sort of “date” and they won a prize connected to the show,
Uruka deciding to watch it and becoming a fan in the process
Yuiga offers to help with this as
well, searching for the costume along with handing out the udon coupons.
We see the teachers from before
searching for Mafuyu, Yuiga hearing a kid say they saw Full Pure (the show in question)
on the roof.
He goes there, finding Mafuyu in the
Full Pure costume, meant to be the outfit the teachers supposedly ordered, but
got mixed up somewhere, Mafuyu running before her peers could find her. Yuiga
wonders where the original costume went, but then bluntly asks Mafuyu to take
the costume off
She misunderstands this, Yuiga
having to re-qualify what he meant, Mafuyu getting it off as Yuiga continues to
distribute coupons and thinks about the situation. He wants to get the outfit
to Uruka’s class so they can start their live show
Mafuyu can’t quite get out of the
outfit, the zipper stuck and Yuiga saying it’ll be torn if he goes any further
This makes Mafuyu sad that she might
affect the cultural festival memories that Uruka’s class is making, revealing
to Yuiga that she never went to any of hers, more focused on figure skating
Since she can’t get the outfit off,
Mafuyu says there’s only one way to solve this
Meanwhile, Fumino is fuming at
Kashima’s script, which has more detail in the kiss scene than she expected.
She meets up with Rizu, who’s still preparing udon
Yuiga contacts her, Rizu bringing
udon for refreshments as the live show is about to start for Uruka’s class
The chapter ends as Rizu looks out
at the stage and is shocked at something, very likely Mafuyu in the costume
performing instead of Uruka
Fire Force 129
Commander Burns seems to be ready to
fight Joker so that he can’t get to the secret scriptures of the Church of the
Holy Sol. Shinmon even steps in to assist, but Burns changes his mind, saying
this isn’t the time, to Joker’s shock
Burns says that he knows why they’re
here and he wants to give them a clue to the secret they want to discover.
Shinmon is confused, asking if Joker
and Burns know each other
Joker reveals that Burns is (or
was?) a liaison between the two sides of the Church of the Holy Sol and took
him in when he left the Shadow of the Holy Sun.
But things changed when Burns formed
an Adora Link after Amaterasu released a number of Infernals.
He and Joker were going to stop
them, but encountered a particular Infernal that gave them the scars on their
right and left eyes respectively
We see a flashback where Joker and
Burns were talking about how terrible the world is and how the Church of the
Holy Sol isn’t changing anything, Joker wanting to know why the world is the
way it is
Returning to the previous incident,
Burns and Joker see a vision of something like what Shinra and others have
witnessed with the Adora Link, a hooded figure and a hellish landscape.
Joker managed to get a piece of the
Adora Link world, still burning even in a vacuum, before they’re forced out
The chapter ends as Burns gives them
a diary, saying that this will be the way for them to find the truth the church
is hiding
Black Clover 160
The Magic Knight, from the Purple
Orcas, was revealed to have been patrolling the Forsaken Area when he was
affected by the Reincarnation Magic.
Everyone else in Hage is amazed at
how Asta and Yuno saved them, the group leaving to save the country quickly as the
villagers bid them farewell
When they get closer to the capital,
Yuno senses two elf magic presences, the pair deciding to split up, Yuno with
the Poison Plant Magic Knight and Asta using his sword to stop this
Reincarnation Magic
Vanessa and Magna are confused at
Luck appearing before them, but he quickly attacks.
It’s only thanks to Vanessa’s String
Magic familiar, Rouge, that the attack missed, but even Magna can’t attack Luck
easily since Rouge sides with anyone of the Black Bulls
Vanessa tells Magna to stop,
thinking the magic affecting luck is forbidden level, but Magna uses his
Vanishing Magic Ball to try and trip up Luck, but he dodges
As Luck, calling himself Lufuru as
an elf, moves to attack Magna in return, Vanessa pulls him out of the way with
her String Magic. The two combine their efforts, Magna revealing a new magic
that explodes after a set period of time, keeping Luck on his toes
But the elf still dodges, Magna
continuing to throw out the magic balls.
Luck realizes Magna’s plan to use regular
fireballs as a distraction so he can attack at close range, grabbing the Black
Bull
But Magna planned for this,
exploding a fireball right in proximity to them both and even sending more
fireballs to explode all around them, catching them up in the blasts.
Luck would’ve realized Magna was
that kind of person, the elf not knowing this to its disadvantage, blasting him
with another fireball and binding him as he falls to the ground
But the chapter ends as Luck still
manages to break free, his lightning flashing into the sky, which Asta notices,
the battle not over yet between Magna and his possessed rival
One Piece 907
We start with Big Mom talking to
Kaidou, saying that she doesn’t want him getting involved in her pursuit of
Luffy to get her revenge. She also brings up that the Yonkou owes her a debt,
expecting him to cooperate
Sakazuki and other high ranking
Marines are worried about the two Emperors communicating and even moreso about
their eventual meeting that could happen.
But Garp says they can’t really do
anything and Sakazuki, knowing that Wano, where Luffy and the others are
apparently sighted and heading towards, is not in World Government jurisdiction
Hina brings up how Garp is
considered a hero of the Marines because of his dealings with a group called
Rocks and is worried that they may be gaining enough power to pose a threat.
But Garp says even if that happened, it’d be beyond their abilities to deal
with now
Returning to Mary Geoise, we learn
more about the stability of the World Government through the Empty Throne, a
symbol of unity and a pledge to be made by every ruler of the 20 nations to not
try and take over, though Sterry seems to have some difficulty holding back his
internal desire of trying to dominate the world
We shift back to the socializing
plaza, Shirahoshi being accosted by Charlos (the Celestial Dragon who Luffy
punched at Sabaody after he shot Hatchan who was trying to save Camie the
mermaid), who wants to have her as his pet.
Sai and Leo try to intervene, but
are knocked away by Rob Lucci, supported by other members of CP-0 including
Stussy and Kaku (formerly of Cipher Pol 9 with Rob Lucci)
Neptune is about to attack CP-0 in
anger, but Charlos is struck by another Celestial Dragon, embarrassed to be
associated with someone so disgusting, revealed to be Donquixote Mjosgard,
connected to Doflamingo in some way and also was protected by Otohime in the
past. Now inspired by the sacrifice of Neptune’s wife, he says he’ll help in
any way he can
The chapter ends as the Gorousei
meet with Shanks who wants to talk to them about something
My Hero Academia 186
As a disgruntled employee from a
company is about to use his Quirk to start attacking in revenge, he’s stopped
by Hawks as he and Endeavor are walking down the street
He uses his Quirk to help others in
need, like a dog that ran into the street or an old lady carrying a heavy
suitcase. We see that Hawks is really popular with people in the local area,
signing autographs and taking pictures with them
Endeavor, noticing some kids who are
fans of his, tries to approach them, but they think it’s wrong that he’d engage
with fans rather than being aloof, confusing the new #1 Hero
Hawks and Endeavor eat at a
restaurant, the #2 Hero saying that Endeavor shouldn’t try to be different than
what he is, Hawks honest about how he tried to recruit Shouto for the
internship before
Endeavor says they should focus on
the matter at hand, concerning the Noumu.
Hawks explains that while the Noumu
at Kamino were captured, there still have been rumors of others, though they
haven’t been confirmed. He thinks this means there could be more that All For
One is privy to.
He heard about this much earlier,
investigating with the police, but coming up with nothing. Hawks then
investigated on his own, finding the rumors in different areas. This made him
think someone might be intentionally spreading the rumors and that the villain
at the company before was influenced by the discord sown by such rumors,
talking about superpower liberation, which was from a villain autobiography
from years ago.
Hawks tells Endeavor he wants the
Flame Hero to be the one to tell the public that nothing is wrong, recovering people’s
trust in Heroes in the process.
The #2 Hero just wants to relax, not
liking how being in the upper echelon puts so much pressure on Heroes to be
about public appearances
Suddenly, High End, the Noumu from
the end of last chapter, bursts into the restaurant.
Endeavor tells Hawks to evacuate the
building while he blasts High End out the window and prepares to fight as the
chapter ends
Seven Deadly Sins 270
Ban and Meliodas talk briefly about what they’ll do
once they escape Purgatory, both saying they’ll drink ale as well as help the
women they love in their respective fashions.
Meliodas tries to Full Counter one of the attacks
from their pursuers, but is grabbed by another Purgatory beast, Ban freeing him
and attacking the other monsters, seemingly defeating them as well
As they take a break to eat, Meliodas comments that
Ban has a great ability to adapt to things, especially with how tough Purgatory
is
Ban says the things that originally were harmful to
him are pretty much ineffective now, as if he’s evolved past them in a way.
Meliodas says Ban may be the only person able to not
only survive physically in Purgatory, but also not go insane
The growth Ban’s had makes the Fox’s Sin think he
might’ve powered up enough to fight the Ten Commandments, which makes Meliodas
laugh.
Ban says that Meliodas is even stronger than him
anyway and when he returns to his real body, he may be so powerful no one could
stand up to him
The two say that with that in mind, they better get
out of Purgatory so they can be with their friends again
But as they notice something has been watching them,
nearly killing Meliodas, but stopping short as he says that he’s been following
them. The entity, confused at how beings from another world are in Purgatory,
is revealed to be a giant pig, looking a lot like Hawk
The chapter concludes as he says his name in Wild
and he’s been looking for his long lost brother.
