Magi 205

Sinbad and Yunan are still fighting, Yunan wanting to talk to Aladdin alone, but Sinbad wanting to join in. Aladdin’s still confused, though he doesn’t know much more than that Yunan raised the first dungeon and Sinbad conquered it.

Sinbad blames Yunan for throwing the world into chaos, but Yunan says he retracted dungeons that Judar summoned, so his power seems greater. He then summons a room for them to speak in alone, away from Sinbad, by summoning trees and then turning them into logs. With that, he creates a cabin along with other Rukh, a masterful level of magic. Yamraiha is especially impressed. Yunan creates a Borg around the room before Sinbad can try to burst in. The cabin looks like the one we saw when he met Morg.

Aladdin is amazed at the level of skill and Yunan explains it’s not technically wood. He gives a rough description of cells and says that he reconfigured them into other things, so this is alchemical/transmutation type magic, involving probably most of the 8 kinds of magic. Aladdin admits he doesn’t know much about Yunan, but he does see that he’s a powerful magician and probably knows many things that Aladdin didn’t even discover at Magnostadt

Aladdin inquires about Ugo and Yunan explains that he meets him every time he dies. Similar to when Scheherazade died and her Rukh was given to Titus and he was resurrected, Yunan says every Magi’s rukh functions like this and Yunan, presumably, has gone through this process many times, which is why he looks so young, yet he’s so knowledgeable. He quantifies that he’s done it 9 times, probably much more than even Scheherazade has, which we only know of it happening once in the past. They’re reborn into their previous bodies, so that’s why Scheherazade can maintain the youthful appearance, also in Yunan’s case.

Later, Yunan asks Aladdin what he thinks about Sinbad and Aladdin remarks that Sinbad is an amazing person in terms of magoi and his king qualities. He asks Yunan why he didn’t become Sinbad’s Magi. He explains that while he respects Sinbad, he thinks becoming his Magi would be dangerous. He’s perplexed, like he’s being prevented from becoming Sinbad’s Magi, which makes sense in a way, since Sinbad is comparable to a magician with his level of magoi, if not higher than that.

Yunan worries about Sinbad, since he feels too perfect in his qualities as a King Vessel/Candidate. He notes that Aladdin and every other Magi, even if they don’t realize it, seem determined by instinct to choose King Vessels and grant them the power to conquer the world. Usually there are only a few kings according to Yunan, but with so many possible ones, the battle could shape the fate of the world overall with the power involved. He questions what a King Vessel is, which I wonder if this is distinct from King Candidate and if it has to do with the Metal Vessel the King Candidate uses

The chapter ends as Alibaba enters Balbadd.

World Trigger 40

Yosuke and Yotaro arrive where Yuma and Midorikawa are fighting.

Shun explains about the rank war and that an agent won’t get any points if they win, since they’re already ranked, while Yuma’s still a trainee. Either way, neither of them will get points, since Shun isn’t involved in trainee rank fights and doesn’t need Yuma’s, nor can he lose any to Yuma. They still have points as ranked agents relative to Triggers, but the Rank war seems to be based on whether the person agrees to a point based fight instead of one where it’s just showing off skill, in which case it’s more like a practice fight. I would diss Viz, the only source that’s keeping up with the newest chapters, but they’re doing their best with the translation, and sometimes the readers have to read between the lines

Yuma loses his first fight quickly, managing to survive a bit longer before losing the second match. Yosuke doesn’t note whether he’s better than Midorikawa, but he does acknowledge that he’s a prodigy, still in junior high But Yosuke notices that he’s getting better and he’s right as Yuma wins 3 rounds in a row, having won if it was best of 5.

Yosuke continues to explain about Midorikawa, noting that he’s only been an A rank agent for a year, so he’s still rough in terms of raw experience, while Yuma is precise and with his wealth of background in battle, he’s able to do exactly what he has to in order to win. He then beats his 3 more times, sending home the point that Midorikawa’s no match for the Neighbor. Yuma wanted Osamu to do this himself, but he admits Osamu’s too stubborn when it comes to personal matters, better when it’s about defending his friends, so Yuma’s doing this for Osamu’s sake.

Other A rank agents see Yuma beating Midorikawa, impressing Kazama and Shinoda

Yuma comes out the victor, 8-2, Midorikawa apparently okay with it, since the idea was to gauge Yuma’s abilities. He had other Triggers, but he chose to stick with the Scorpion to test Yuma’s overall ability. I’m hoping he’ll be back and show his special ability, the Side Effect that every Trigger user tends to have (though we’ve only really seen it with Yuma and Jin so far. Chika and Osamu, among others, have yet to demonstrate this, if they even have it).

The chapter ends as Jin calls Osamu and Yuma, Kido wanting to see them both. I’m hoping it’ll be compliments and not being punished. Either way, the tension is building in this arc.

Bleach 559

Haschwalth comments to Shunsui and Nanao that the battles seem to be shifting in the Soul Reaper’s favor, Shunsui agreeing. Haschwalth comments that he will tip the scales in the Quincy’s favor, slashing through the barrier Nanao made. He had been draining the reishi from it slowly, but Nanao reveals that she’d been creating her own new barrier. It’s more hexagonal in shape and composed of various shields, but Haschwalth sees through this, concluding there must be a trap. He moves to use Sklaverei to drain it completely and dominate it, but then he’s called back to Silbern, the castle of the Wandenreich. Abandoning the battle, while shameless, is his duty, since Juhabach’s orders are absolute to him.

We see Ikkaku and Yumichika hiding out. It was apparently still day out, but it’s now become night in Seireitei. Shuuhei meets up with them and Ikkaku comments about the Quincy using the shadows and that moving around at night is risky. The scene shifts away from them as they’re attacked by Mask de Masculine.

Back at the Silbern, Juhabach announces that Cang Du and BG9 are to be judged. BG9 protests that they lost, but they were brought back with Vollstandig. Juhabach agrees, but Haschwalth comments further that the scales must be equaled out. The idea that their lives were saved by luck means they must also suffer bad luck in return to pay for that happy accident. Haschwalth slices Cang Du, but he hardens his skin with his Schrift ability, commenting that he will only accept being killed by Juhabach. Haschwalth then says that this is another turn of fate, but the scales are tipping in his favor. Cang Du is seemingly killed by Haschwalth, making me think since he’s Stern Ritter B and all this talk about balance makes me think that’s his Schrift name: Balance. Somehow he can tip the battle more and more in his favor the more his opponent has the advantage, sort of a counter attack, which makes his battle with Shunsui an interesting one from what we’ve seen of his Zanpakutou powers

Mask de Masculine has beaten up the three Soul Reapers from before, only disappointed there wasn’t much of an audience. The chapter ends as he sees two lights appear and Renji and Rukia land in Soul Society

Naruto 656

We see Obito looking up at the God Tree, a glint of light serving as a proverbial inspiration to him. It’s Naruto throwing a Rasen Shuriken at Madara, who’s been immobilized by Hashirama through a Wood Release Dragon that saps his chakra so he can’t drain the chakra from the God Tree (though we aren’t told this explicitly)

After Naruto is taken by Sai’s paint bird summon, we see Gaara conversing with Shukaku, asking him to help with sealing Madara. Shukaku agrees, if only to spite Kurama, since he has an inferiority complex regarding Kyuubi. The other Bijuu join him and they note Gaara’s bond with Naruto, Gaara agreeing, speaking about Naruto as his first true friend.

Meanwhile, Madara hasn’t been defeated, though he’s still relatively immobilized by Hashirama’s Wood Release techniques. They’re just waiting for someone of Gaara’s level to seal him.

Obito starts to cough up blood, Minato and Kakashi thinking he’s going to die. But Kurama’s half inside Minato explains that even if the Bijuu is removed, the Jinchuuriki won’t be in mortal danger because of the Gedou Mazou, Demon Statue of the Heretic Path, which carries a great amount of energy. It emanates an immense amount of life energy to preserve Obito’s body. Kurama explains that, like the original sage, Obito is immobilized for the most part and can’t fight, but he’ll survive, since his power is close to the original Rikudo Sennin. This week with the big manga seems vague with the explanations. We know what they’re referring to, just not the specifics of how Obito survives beyond that the Gedou Mazou has something to do with it, even though it’s an empty shell.

Obito and Kakashi talk, Kakashi wanting Obito to pay for his crimes, but accepting that he’s near immortal with the Gedou Mazou still intact. Obito then moves to do the Rinne Tensei Jutsu, commenting on how he’s become like Nagato, who was changed by Naruto’s words and sacrificed himself for everyone’s sake. He also says that it’s as if Jiraiya ultimately beat him, having influenced and trained Naruto, Nagato and Minato, all going against his goals. Kakashi says he could live and make up for his past actions, but Obito, using Naruto’s mindset, says that’d be the easy way out.

But suddenly, Black Zetsu appears from underground, attaching himself to Obito. This connects him back to Madara who starts his counterattack. Like he did a while back, he’s trying to use Obito to utilize Rinne Tensei to resurrect himself. I can only assume, since they didn’t say it outright, that Obito was trying to do the opposite and seal Madara in some manner. The chapter ends as Madara relishes in his new physical form. I’m guessing he wants to become the new Juubi Jinchuuriki, which makes this cycle start over again unless Obito can still manage to do something.

Toriko 259

Coco begins to explain things, saying he’s been investigating since the battle and has found something he wants them to look at. He also explains to Sani that the white hair color is because he used too much poison. His Gourmet Cells, similar to what we saw with Toriko’s, seem to have manifested in the battle and drained a lot of his energy, not unlike Sani’s battle with Tommyrod as well. It seems Grinparch’s immune system is highly resistant to Coco’s poison, everything serving as a filter. Even the Poison Virus couldn’t defeat him. His Gourmet Cells released a Death poison, which made Grinparch go berserk. Coco wasn’t defeated, though he was definitely close to death in the battle. The hole dug was said to be even deeper than Heavy Hole, which I think Melk the First trained in during the Melk Stardust arc.

He managed to escape after getting to an area that was filled with a dangerous electromagnetic wave that frightened Coco. A voice told him he couldn’t enter unless he was qualified and he brought back a rock from that area. Sani observes and notices that it absorbs energy, so Coco theorizes that it’s a living entity of some sort. The mineral is common enough if you dig to a certain depth, except in the Human World.

The crust under Human World is billions of years old, which the rock Coco found in the bedrock area is only a few hundred million, so the theory is that the planet was somehow enlarged or expanded with this material. It’s a bit unclear, but it certainly makes for an interesting explanation for the sheer size of the planet in Toriko. Coco elaborates, noting that the rock has pseudo Gourmet Cells, so his hypothesis is that the mineral landed on earth through a meteorite and then expanded by absorbing energy from the original planet earth, growing to the size of the planet now, comprising 75% or more of the earth as it is now, mostly the Gourmet World. It literally expanded outward from the original earth and creating more mass overall. Seems like astronomically, this could make for some problems, since the orbit and such would be affected, but we shouldn’t try to apply hard science to a fantasy world like this.

Coco also notes that the time this mineral came about coincides with a second Cambrian explosion of life, many animals prospering and the populations expanding. The goal Coco has is to get to the deeper parts of the earth to discover the secrets Acacia found. Coco’s hypothesis goes further, suggesting that since his Gourmet Cells suggested it was an immense life force, comparable to a good tasting food, that the mineral is the source of the further diversifying life on the planet to this day. He even calls it a sort of Food Utopia, which makes me think Neo and Bishokukai both desire to get there, and that Acacia’s journey before he died had to do with this location. The connection makes for an interesting development in the plot, since it means that the Nitro are involved as well, possibly aliens.

The plan Coco came to Zedra and Sani about is to finish collecting Ichiryuu’s Full Course, the last ingredient in the First Biotope. Once that is found, the food produced by them is able to be eaten infinitely, so it can end the famine and prevent starvation across the world.

Zebra’s curious why Coco directed Komatsu to where Toriko was, thinking that they both ultimately failed, one getting captured and the other nearly killed. But Coco says that eventually they’ll be okay, having had to make the decision based on limited information at the time.

The chapter ends as we see Rin worried about Toriko and Jirou appears to give Toriko some encouragement.

Fairy Tail 362

We continue where we left off last time with Natsu fighting Jackal. He punches the demon and he activates the curse, but he again negates it by eating it, sending the point home to him.

Jackal starts to feel real fear and begins morphing into a more bestial form. He rushes at Natsu and with one punch, causes an even bigger explosion than we’ve seen before.

The demon rages, saying humans can’t best them, but Natsu counterattacks, saying humans can become stronger than demons. He starts to use Laxus’ power, slamming Jackal into the wall, collapsing afterwards, since eating explosions still damaged him enough to affect his stability.

Lucy and Wendy compliment him, along with Happy and Charle. Jackal laughs to himself at his loss, starting to suicide bomb himself to take out the entire city. He reveals he can’t stop it even if he dies. The situation seems hopeless until Happy grabs the demon and flies him into the air, sacrificing himself to save the others. Or so we thought, Happy fine, just his hair affected, turned into an afro as the chapter ends.

Magi 204

We start this chapter with Alibaba being a bit too clingy with Morgiana and she observes this. It seems like Alibaba might’ve misunderstood Morg’s feelings. She qualifies that it wasn’t a romantic confession, but that she wanted to continue serving as a member of his household along with Olba and Toto. He’s predictably shocked. He literally rips a few patches of hair out and runs away in frustration.

Olba and Toto explain that he misunderstood her and they go looking for him to fix things between them. They find him hiding in a storage area and he seems to have been badly hurt by the experience, lashing out at people almost like an animal. He continues to mope about wanting to have a girlfriend and not being loved. It’s hard to feel sorry for him when he’s acting like a child and the chapter may just be meant as a comedy chapter in part.

Morgiana thinks when Alibaba said she was beautiful back in Sindria a while ago and clarifies that she does like him, but she’s still new to this, so she needs more time to learn about being in a relationship and loving someone of her own free will instead of being a slave as she was years ago. Alibaba agrees and the group notes how honest he is about his feelings, which is what they respect about him as a person.

Meanwhile, Aladdin is studying back at Sindria and Yunan appears before him. He explains that he wanted to talk to Aladdin some more, since he had to leave so abruptly back at Magnostadt. He clarifies that the armies are at a relative armistice, which is good. They have a common enemy, so now they’re trying to negotiate. There won’t be a fight, at least not immediately.

Aladdin compliments Yunan, saying Morg was right to call him a good person. He taught her the Toran language and helped her train with other Household Vessel users. But he says he’s not such a good person. He explains that he knows things about Ugo that Aladdin doesn’t. There are apparently others favored by that Djinn. Yunan then notes that Sinbad’s eavesdropping on them in the form of a bird made by magic. He says he should be involved, since it’s his country. The chapter ends as Yunan refuses, saying he doesn’t trust Sinbad, Sinbad responding that he feels the same. Aladdin is confused, since he thought they’d get along.

World Trigger 39

Osamu is in the cafeteria and is worried about the rumors getting out of hand. He didn’t tie, as everyone’s saying, but lost 24 times and tied once. He almost wants someone to ask him more directly. Someone comes up to him and asks about his branch, Osamu explaining that he transferred with Jin’s help. The stranger then challenges Osamu to a solo rank war.

Meanwhile, Yuma and Miwa’s meeting goes well, Miwa calmly handing Yuma the coin and explaining that since he enlisted, Miwa can’t try to kill him anymore. Then Yosuke and Yotaro appear, Yosuke explaining that he’s taking care of Yotaro, Yosuke revealed to be Shiori’s cousin, the Operator for Tamakoma branch. Shiori and Karasuma were previously in main HQ until they transferred, similar to Osamu.

Miwa was called to a meeting, but he lied to Kazama and said he was sick. Yuma volunteers to help Miwa find the Trion soldiers who killed his sister so he can take revenge. Miwa refuses, still insisting all Neighbor are his enemies, going to the meeting he was avoiding anyway

Yosuke then challenges Yuma to a practice battle, since official battles can’t be done between Trainees and official agents.

We go back to Osamu fighting the mysterious Border agent, revealing that he lost 10 times. His name is Shun Midorikawa, which we’ve heard the surname before. A lot of the spectators lose faith in Osamu, saying that he couldn’t have tied with Kazama if he lost to Midorikawa who’s younger than him and an A rank Border agent. Yuma asks if Midorikawa attracted all these people, Shun responding that it was probably Osamu, which Yuma says is a lie. He challenges Midorikawa to a battle, vouching all 1500 of his points on it.  Midorikawa wonders if Yuma can beat him with a training Trigger, Yuma saying it should be fine to beat Shun, egging the prodigy on.

The chapter ends as they agree on the terms: Yuma doesn’t want any points, he just wants Midorikawa to show Osamu respect, which confuses Midorikawa, since he thought Yuma would want respect instead.

Bleach 558

Sajin has seemingly defeated Bambietta, the Quincy noting that her bombs are basically being pushed back into her, causing the explosion we saw last time. She’s badly burned, falling to the ground.

Dangai Joue (there was no i at the end, I made a mistake on that) collapses, indicating the technique is wearing off. Komamura is starting to revert back to his animal form, but he is pushing himself to get the palace and kill Juhabach. His ancestor observes that this seems more and more like vengeance. Komamura told Tousen before he died that revenge was a waste of one’s life. But the ancestor says that it’s fine, since revenge is the essence of their Werewolf clan and he’s happy to see Sajin embracing his true self.

The transformation begins to revert, but not to the wolf man we know from before, but to something much smaller, indicating that without his human heart, he will return to a mere wolf, an animal with no human behavior. Sajin calls this a sort of penance. I’m guessing this is the trade off from abandoning your human heart: you revert to the animal you were cursed as before you were reborn as a wolf man in Soul Society. His ancestor says that this is a sort of relief to him, since now Sajin is like himself, a Wolf Man who has abandoned his humanity. I assume that Sajin can still fight, but he may never be able to fight with a Zanpakutou again. It’s also possible that the Wolf Man ancestor feels relief because he can now let go of the vengeance he desired, Komamura taking his place in a way. It’s not entirely clear about the exchange and what it means for either of them. He speaks as if Komamura may just become a mindless beast instead of what he is: a giant wolf.

He moves to eat the heart and as Sajin becomes a wolf, Iba picks him up, taking him to the palace to take on Juhabach. The vice captain says that Sajin wasn’t wrong, that his vengeance was justified since the Quincies aren’t necessarily right in killing him.

Back where Bambietta is, she’s clinging to life and her 4 subordinates appear, saying they’ll take care of her. I’m wondering if she’ll be killed off or if they’ll siphon off her power so they can fight with more power as a result of her loss. But they speak as if they want her to stay with them, so I’m getting a feeling of some horrific fusion, not unlike the Tres Bestias.

The chapter ends as we see Rukia and Renji falling down to Soul Society. I’m hoping we don’t stay away from the Komamura resolution for too long, or what happens to Bambietta.

One Piece 729

Bellamy is moving to kill Luffy, but he’s stopped by a member of Diamante’s group, Dellinger, who spills the beans that Doflamingo wanted Bellamy killed, since he would’ve screwed up the assassination anyway, according to the Shichibukai

Law and Doflamingo are still fighting on the Iron Bridge, relatively evenly matched, each one countering the other’s attacks with relative ease. Doflamingo suddenly shoots Law with a Bullet String, disabling him for a bit. Diamante contacts Doflamingo, explaining that Violet defected, which Doflamingo doesn’t care about. He orders Diamante to send Lao G to the SMILE factory exit, presumably to protect it, Diamante apparently strong enough to defeat anyone in the finals.

Meanwhile, Doflamingo tells Law that while his plan had promise, he put too much trust in the Straw Hats, which he thinks was stupid of him. Law responds that he thinks Luffy will change things, so he staked this battle on that chance.

Zoro and Luffy are talking, spotted by some Marines who recognize them. They hold back, thinking the chaos would allow Luffy to slip away. They start forgetting the people they were going to target, like Don Chinjao and the others, meaning they’ve likely been turned into toys as well.

Kinemon explains that the coliseum is surrounded by Marines and the rest of the Straw Hats are contacted through Den Den Mushi, confirming their relative positions. Franky, Robin and Usopp are with the Riku Army, Nami, Brooke, Chopper, Sanji and Momonosuke (as well as Caesar) are on the Sunny and Luffy, Zoro and Kinemon are in Dressrosa near or in the coliseum. They discuss the relation between Rebecca and the toy soldier, Franky saying that they have to beat Doflamingo and help the Riku Army, since the horrible past of the country weighs heavily on him, even with his loyalty to Luffy. He doesn’t want these soldiers to throw away their lives. Luffy agrees, saying they can help them and that they’ll all meet up soon.

Isshou and his men are getting to Dressrosa by boat and see that a skirmish has broken out in the middle of the city. It turns out to be Doflamingo and Law, Law defeated utterly by Doflamingo, who shoots him with a flintlock, seemingly killing him as the chapter ends. One Piece is on hiatus next week, so there will apparently be a week without either Naruto or One Piece, but I might be wrong. It may be that Naruto actually will be back next week, since we’re getting these chapters a week ahead of schedule, but after that, there may be a break because of the proximity to New Years in Japan.

Toriko 258

Terrycloth sees Toriko standing from last chapter, concentrating. He makes a fist and the scene shifts as he lingers on his failure, I would have to guess

We see a frozen mountain of ingredients, a huge mass of ice hundreds of meters tall. Nono has the ability to freeze ingredients and preserve their flavor, and they managed to protect it from the Meteor Spice. They move to start getting the ingredients, Tengu going to Gourmet World for their specific ingredients to help with the potential famine.

Starjun and the other Bishokukai are moving back to their headquarters. They’re shocked to see it on fire, Grinparch ordered to put them out, but hesitating. I would have to guess that Coco put a slow acting poison in him.

We shift scenes to where Mohyan Shai Shai is talking to Zombie Frohze about the concept of human taste as a source of human vitality. They also explain that this is one of three things they need: human taste, the cooking method and the vehicle to go to the final land. This all seems to connect to what Acacia was talking about with conspiring with the Blue Nitro and needing Frohze’s skill. The other members of Neo are talking about the eventual solar eclipse and the appearance of GOD. Ichiryuu was trying to sabotage their organization with spies, but it didn’t work. Frohze suggests a celebration is in order. The group heads out, revealing that they have a sizeable amount of members, at least half of them from Bishokukai, the others from IGO or elsewhere.

Zebra and Sani are talking about the aftermath of the battle. Coco appears after months of no signs of him being alive, his hair stark white and stunning them as the chapter ends. I can at least assume this has to do with his survival of the fight and poisoning Grinparch.

Fairy Tail 361

Mikero runs away from Jackal, the demon chasing him as Wendy and Lucy move to defend him. Wendy attacks with Sky Dragon’s roar, but Jackal causes an explosion in front of him to block it. Lucy summons Scorpio, but Jackal explodes the area around his Sand Buster, blowing him away. Jackal then explains that they don’t use magic as demons, but more like high level curses, so regular mages don’t stand a chance

He knocks Lucy and Wendy away, going after Mikero. Lucy manages to stand up, ordering Wendy to heal Natsu while she goes after Jackal.

Mikero goes into town, begging someone to hide him, but Jackal finds him. Mikero insists he doesn’t know anything, just wanting to stay with his grandchild in peace, Jackal observing that he left that grandchild behind.

Lucy starts to open a gate, but Jackal reveals that he put a landmine curse under Lucy, so if she moves, it’ll explode. Jackal then captures Mikero and another citizen in bubbles that serve as bombs and orders Lucy to pick who survives. The other citizen is pregnant, but Mikero insists he’s the one they came to protect and he’s more important. Lucy’s in a bind and there’s only 10 seconds left.

Suddenly, Natsu bursts in, “choosing” Jackal, attacking him and dissipating his curses. Mikero Is relieved that he’s saved, Natsu punching him on the head for being so selfish. Jackal points out that Natsu punched him again, but Natsu has a trick this time, eating the explosion through his arm somehow and then letting it explode that way, so he’s not hurt as badly. The chapter ends as he and Jackal square off again.

Magi 203

Alibaba is still brooding this time, but not because of Balbadd. Morg thinks he should be happy because he added two more people to his household, but doesn’t realize he’s lingering on Olba and Toto getting together. They’re being very lovey dovey and they stop, thinking they’re bothering Alibaba, but he says it’s fine and goes to his room. He lets out his real feelings, frustrated that he can’t have a girlfriend.

Olba tries to apologize later, noting that Alibaba liked Toto first, Alibaba responding that he’s a bit full of himself, since he barely knows Toto. Olba responds that Alibaba still has Morg. He even notes that there are some signs that Morgiana likes Alibaba. But Alibaba says they’re just good friends and Olba misunderstood. Going back to his room, Alibaba is stunned, since he thinks there’s no way Morg could fall in love with him. However he thinks he might be too hasty in judging that way, since if he assumes she did, it would explain her behaviors that confused him. But he’s also not sure how to respond to her feelings. He then decides to confront her.

Morg is training, Alibaba not able to be up front, deflecting the confession with observations about the weather. But then Morg decides to tell Alibaba something, Alibaba thinking it must be a confession. She says that he is an amazing person, drawing people into his household with the qualities of a king. Eventually, though, he may have so many people that Morg will become less important and she wishes to remain by his side. He responds that she is important to him as well and that she should try to do something besides being with him. Morg misunderstands, Alibaba explaining that he meant that if she decides to stay, he wants her by his side forever. Morgiana starts to cry, since she’s so happy and Alibaba embraces her, smiling at Olba and Toto as the chapter ends.

World Trigger 38

Yuma is shown to get top scores in all the other exams he takes, figuring out that even if he gets perfect scores in the group sessions, it will take over 4 months to get 4000 points just by that. Therefore, his main focus is the rank wars, which Tokieda starts to explain.

We see some of the stuck up rookies from before starting the rank wars, which are apparently a simulation system. One of the bullies finds himself against Yuma. He effortlessly defeats them all, gaining much more points. Kido sees this, commenting on how much power he has, being Kuga’s son. The others think he might be too powerful and should’ve gotten about 3000 points, so he’d advance to B rank much quicker, but Rindo thought Kido would object. We find out Kitora started with 3600, so it’s something usually done for those with exceptional talent. Kido asks why Yuma’s not using his Black Trigger, Rindo responding that it’s obvious that Kido would object to that as well.

Chika is also brought up, with her exceptional Trion level. Rindo then explains that Chika is the main reason why the three skilled rookies in Tamakoma are teamed up, trying to become an away squad to get to the Neighbor world and find Chika’s friend and brother. Kido says that they may not even be alive and with the amount of countries, it’d be difficult to specify where they are. Rindo responds that they are still motivated by that goal, so they’ll work harder because of it. He then connects back to Miwa and his goal of revenge for his sister, Kazama commenting that he’s different from either of them. He also notes that Miwa has seemed disturbed by something Arashiyama told him a month ago.  Jin arrives and a meeting starts, the topic about a projected large scale Neighbor invasion.

We see Yuma and Replica talking about the human system of currency and how the higher amounts are in paper instead of metal coins as well as the concept of getting change when you buy something. He drops a coin and the chapter ends as Miwa confronts Yuma.

Bleach 557

The chapter starts with something causing massive destruction in the area where Bambietta is and she’s stunned at the power. We see Dangai Jouei and he shows off his power more.

Bambietta is surprised there wasn’t a dog/wolf under the armor and then moves to attack, thinking there might be one under the new form’s face. But it blocks her attack with its hand, seemingly no damage dealt.

Komamura explains that the original form was armor with life breathed into it, but the new form is pure reiatsu, so her reishi based attacks cannot affect it, since it’s intangible in a way. But Bambietta responds that she should still be able to destroy it, since it’s exposed now and anything she puts her power into explodes. Komamura retorts that there’s no life in it, since it cast the source of its life away.

We see his ancestor looking at the heart Komamura gave him and Bambietta is confused, since her understanding was that the Bankai was linked to its holder, so if the holder was killed the Bankai should cease to exist. She then attacks Komamura himself, but it seems like even he is almost indestructible. We see the hole where he removed his heart and he explains that his body is like a shell now, that he’s already cast aside his life for this power. The body he has is temporary, but for the amount of time he has for the Human Metamorphosis technique, his body is immortal.

Bambietta thinks he’s wasting his time, since he might defeat her, but he’ll die as well. But Komamura says that he decided this from the start, since he has to repay the debt he owes to Yamamoto. He specifies he isn’t throwing it away, but putting his life on the line, so I wonder if he’ll be able to survive this.

The chapter ends as Bambietta is cornered by Dangai Jouei and he slashes her as the chapter ends, but Bambietta explodes, meaning this battle might not quite be over.

Naruto 655

We see the Tailed Beasts all compliment Naruto on bringing them out and stopping Obito.

Sasuke moves to kill Obito, Obito accepting it. Suddenly Kakashi appears from the other dimension, apparently also moving to kill Obito. He says he’ll talk to Sasuke later, but since Obito was his friend, he’s taking responsibility. But Minato stops Kakashi at the last moment. The rest of the army seems to support killing him, but Tsunade calms them down.

Minato tells Kakashi that while Naruto was the one to stop Obito, Kakashi has to be the one to really tell him the truth and can sympathize with him the most.

Minato tells Naruto and the others to support Hashirama, Madara still needing to be sealed. He tells Kakashi that Rin wouldn’t have wanted this to happen, but he blames himself most of all. Minato wanted to protect Rin, Obito explaining how Rin was the most important thing to him. When she died, his world became bleak and dark. Even as he pretended to be Madara, his conviction only deepened and he couldn’t see any hope. Kakashi says he felt the same way, having lost everyone close to him. But he remembered Obito’s words and he tried to see a new future with the Sharingan he gave him.

Obito thinks he’s talking about Naruto and that he won’t fail, but Kakashi admits he could. But he’s less likely to fail and Kakashi says he will help him when he stumbles. Obito asks why, Kakashi explaining that Naruto doesn’t accept things as they are, always pressing forward. And he draws in comrades with that attitude, which makes his resolve stronger. Obito wonders if it’s possible to be so positive, Kakashi saying that he can find it, since he is like Naruto in his own way. The chapter ends as Kakashi says if Obito had had friends like Naruto does, he could’ve seen a new path.

Naruto is on hiatus until the beginning of next year, so at least a month without Naruto.

One Piece 728

We see the chaos continue in Dressrosa, thanks to Doflamingo’s meddling. The higher ups have called Vergo and the Marines to quell the conflict.

Meanwhile Viola, who was the member of Doflamingo’s army with the Goggle Goggle fruit, finds Monet opening the palace doors to let the “true” rulers into the palace. We see what I imagine is most of Doflamingo’s major crew enter and proceed to clear out the soldiers and everyone else.

Riku, meanwhile, is grief stricken at what Doflamingo is forcing him to do and the citizens are astonished at the atrocities he’s committing. They begin to resent him, starting the hatred that continues to the present.

Suddenly, Doflamingo and his three highest generals, Diamante, Pica and Trebol, appear to “save” the country. They go about this and the people love them for saving them from the horrors that occurred.

The story complete, we see that everyone regrets doubting Riku. Usopp thinks that logically, the king would’ve been put to death, but since that clearly isn’t the case, we get an explanation of how he survived. Viola was King Riku’s daughter, presumably Rebecca’s mother’s sister and with her power, Doflamingo agreed to a deal: let King Riku live in exchange for Viola joining his group. And now she’s Violet, so we see how the pieces connect and why Violet seeks to escape. The suffering they must have had to endure weighs heavily on the others.

Even the army defected, though they had no other choice, some of them dying in the conflict. But it turns out that the soldiers were still only a portion of the country’s army. Many were turned into toys and some have even forgotten who they are. The toys still recall their hatred for Doflamingo and the toy soldier says that’s what will turn the tide in this rebellion, since there are so many of them.

Usopp says they don’t have to fight Doflamingo, since their main objective was destroying the factory. It’s then revealed to them that Doflamingo didn’t actually quit the Shichibukai, which understandably makes them shocked and see that their original plan is falling apart.

We see Chinjao and Riku talking about their retirement and that they wished they had children. The other grandson of Chinjao and other fighters are being turned into toys, explaining why Chinjao is losing his memories of them.

The chapter ends as Luffy finds Zoro and Kinemon, Bellamy moving to attack Luffy as Doflamingo ordered him to.

Fairy Tail 360

Natsu and Jackal are still staring each other down, Mikero starting to run away, Lucy and Wendy keeping him safe.

Jackal uses his power and creates a ring of explosions around the area they’re in, sealing them so they can’t escape.

Natsu moves to attack, Jackal using an explosion directly on Natsu, but Happy says they’re useless on the fire dragon slayer, who eats it and closes in on Jackal, knocking him back. He dodges Natsu’s follow up attack, but Natsu then attacks from below. Jackal seems beat, but he tries to tell him something. But Natsu isn’t having any of that, pummeling him more. He remembers that he’s supposed to ask about their hideout and goals.

Mikero thinks that they could be after “Faith”, a “White Inheritance” that is rarely known about even amongst the council members. The mystery behind it deepens, since Zeref apparently knew about it and that was part of his plan. He moves to leave, but the others are suspicious, thinking he knows something that he’s keeping from them, but he insists he doesn’t know anything

Jackal gets back up and before he starts again, he tells Natsu that his curse is turning anything that touches him into bombs (though I wonder how he blew up the other stuff before unless he also made contact with it at some point) and Natsu begins to glow, exploding and seemingly defeated and charred.

The chapter ends as Jackal says that Mikero should give him the info he desires, so he’ll just kill his granddaughter instead of both of them.

Magi 202

We start with Alibaba looking off the bow of the ship, very contemplative. The others are worried about him, but he says he’s fine. They think it has to do with what he said last night. He spoke with Morg, telling her he’s afraid to return to Balbadd. He thinks he doesn’t have a right to be there, or that he can’t be sure of what the situation is, since the Kou Empire has made it a trading town of sorts. His biggest concern is that he can’t really contribute to Balbadd anymore. His major fight is with Al Thamen, but he wants to do something for the town that he put so much effort into for the sake of Cassim and the others. He even says that if he can’t help Balbadd anymore in his fight against Al Thamen, it feels like he doesn’t deserve to have a metal vessel.

Back in the present, pirates attack, which Olba had joked about before. They use magic tools, like Olba and his friends did when they were under Aum Madaura’s control and so they reveal new magic tools to fight them. Alibaba is astonished that they regard themselves as no different ultimately than the pirates, since they committed many horrible acts in their past. But Alibaba gave them a reason to live, protecting each other after Aum Madaura was killed. Even Toto agrees, the gladiators he freed inspired by his act to seek a new life. Even if, like Alibaba says, he didn’t give them food or shelter, he freed them from bondage.

Amon’s Metal Vessel reacts and two birds of Rukh go to Toto and Olba’s weapons, making them new members of Alibaba’s household, which is a great development. As the pirates generate a giant ball of water to attack, Amon speaks to them and they use their household vessels to destroy the magic water sphere.

As the group parties to celebrate the new household vessels’ awakening, Morg comments that Alibaba isn’t alone now, that many people trust and respect him.

The chapter ends as Olba and Toto announce to Alibaba that they’re a couple now, which leaves Alibaba stunned.

World Trigger 37

Last time, it looked like Osamu had won against Kazama, but Kazama manages to sever Osamu’s Trion supply. It seems like Kazama managed to survive, but only long enough to do that, the battle ultimately ending in a tie. Everyone’s fairly impressed, since fighting to a draw is close enough to a victory in itself

Kazama inquires of Karasuma whether he taught Osamu that, Karasuma denying it. Kazama concludes that Osamu, while weak and low in Trion, isn’t bad in that he takes advantage of his skills, acknowledging his weakness and fighting with his head. He doesn’t want to fight Yuma, since he’s still just a trainee in his head. He encourages Yuma to get to the next rank to challenge him.

Afterwards, other A Rank members say that Kazama could’ve won, blocking the blow with a shield and then countering. They even point out Osamu only had an advantage because of the unlimited Trion in training mode. Kazama thinks to himself that while Osamu seemed unimpressive, he improved through his losses and managed to outthink Kazama. He wonders how far he can get on that creativity.

The others compliment Osamu back in the training room, but say he shouldn’t let it go to his head, since losing 20 times to tie once is unrealistic in actual battle. Arashiyama then shows up saying something happened with Chika.

Turns out she’s just apologetic for putting a hole in the wall, but the supervisors say it’s partly their fault for not measuring her Trion. Satori is pinned to take the blame instead. Director Kinuta starts to chide Satori, but Chika then tells the truth, the other supervisor, Azuma, saying she fired the Ibis that caused the hole.  After he finds out she’s from Tamakoma, he changes his tone, complimenting her and saying the wall can be fixed easily. Turns out he has a weakness for young girls, since he has a daughter of his own around Chika’s age, so her being from Tamakoma was irrelevant.

Osamu and Yuma come in, Kinuta telling Osamu to keep an eye on her. The others are amazed at Chika’s power. Jin’s on the phone, finding out everyone enlisted. He comments they must be the center of conversation of HQ. People comment on Yuma finishing in less than a second, Chika blowing a hole in the wall and Osamu tying with Kazama as a B rank. But Jin thinks they have even greater potential and they’ll truly stand out in the future.

Bleach 556

We see Shinji hit by Bambietta’s attack and then a subsequent explosion. Bambietta explains that even if she can’t follow things due to Sakanade’s power, she’ll just explode everything around her with her Schrift, “The Explode” She rains a volley of explosive blasts down, but Komamura appears, seemingly stopping them.

Momo appears, attacking Bambietta, but Komamura stops her before the blasts engulf her. He explains that the blasts are too powerful even for Tobiume, so she should stay back.

Bambietta then attacks Komamura, who manages to dodge. He says there’s a slight delay between the moment the attack makes contact and the explosion, so he’s just managing to press past the attacks themselves and the force is depleted by him reducing the impact and the armor buffering him against the resulting explosion that remains.

He doesn’t quite dodge one of the attacks, Bambietta impressed he managed to dodge the slight change in motion it made so his head wasn’t targeted.

She explains that she isn’t firing bombs so much as putting her reishi into anything and turning it into a bomb, kind of like Karasu from Yu Yu Hakusho, I think. She releases an even larger amount of bombs and Komamura takes the brunt of them, protecting Momo.

It’s revealed that after his armor was destroyed that Komamura is no longer the wolf man we remember, his face distinctly human, though he still has fur on his arms and other areas.

It’s explained in flashback that this is the human metamorphosis ritual. Komamura’s clan was men that were sent to the beast realm instead of dying, so they eventually returned to Soul Society. They can temporarily shed their beast form to regain their full power. In order to do this, Komamura must rip out his physical heart and give it to his ancestor. Komamura hesitates, his ancestor saying he doesn’t have to sacrifice himself for the Soul Reapers, but Komamura says that Yamamoto took him in after he abandoned the clan, so he’s willing to make this sacrifice for them.

He releases his Bankai, taking on a new form both because of the Hollowification and his humanized form as the chapter ends on it.

Naruto 654

Obito moves to shake Naruto’s hand and then grabs at his throat, saying he accepts the choices he made and he’d do it again. Naruto responds that he shouldn’t imagine himself being Hokage, punching him. He says Rin didn’t want to follow who Obito has become, but who he was before he changed.

We then see the flashback from before continuing where it left off, Obito being told by copies of himself that he could fill the void in his heart without others. They warp into copies of Rin, Kakashi and Minato and then the Obito in the flashback tells the Obito in the present what Naruto told him, grasping his hand, revealing it is Naruto, who tries to pull Obito back. He says he should stop trying to deny that he wants to be part of the Leaf Village.

We see everyone in the Shinobi Alliance pulling Obito’s chakra; the strength of everyone together pulling the Tailed Beasts out of Obito, materializing as Obito falls to the ground defeated and contemplates his actions. He thinks he could’ve been wrong and was trying to fill that void with his own feelings, but starts to accept that the people close to you fill that void, Rin in particular for Obito.

One Piece 727

We start this chapter with Rebecca dodging Rolling Logan’s attacks, using his force to defeat other combatants, the crowd yelling at her to fight

Back where Rebecca’s father revealed herself, Usopp is connecting the dots, but he goes on to explain that it started back with Monet working at the palace.

Ten years ago, a literal seismic shift happened. Before then, the country had never seen war in 8 centuries, a miracle.  But one night, Doflamingo appears before King Riku, saying he’s taking back the country for his own. The rumor seems to be that Doflamingo used money from the Tenryuubito and blackmailed the World Government into making him a Shichibukai, Donquixote apparently accepting that was the case. He’s a thorn in the side of both groups in that sense, since he doesn’t fear the Tenryuubito or the World Government after that.

Doflamingo offers to give the country to him for 10 billion Beri, since he could just take it by force if he wanted. He limits Riku to the country’s money, no foreign aid. And he can’t tell the citizens about Doflamingo either. He’s putting him in an unwinnable situation here. He has until the next night.

The soldiers suggest they fight, but Riku is sticking by his principles, saying they should suffer a blow to their reputation for a time, but they will gain it back.

The soldiers start to get the money from citizens, but they resist, King Riku showing his face through a Den Den Mushi and insisting that they trust him. He even bows on his hands and knees, begging them to go along with this. He has confided in Captain Tank that he’ll try to blow up Doflamingo with himself and then leave it to the Captain to get foreign aid.

The people agree, giving their money. But as the Captain and the others take the money back to the palace, King Riku appears, attacking people and even destroying a building with explosives for some unknown reason. It’s revealed he’s being manipulated by Doflamingo’s String String Fruit. He then extends the power to manipulate the soldiers, causing the destruction we saw that night in Rebecca’s flashback.

Doflamingo’s plan seems to be to plunge the country into chaos and then jump in at the last minute to save it, becoming the hero of the people. The chapter ends as he reveals all this, the country erupting into the flames that we saw before.

Toriko 257

Midora speaks to the Blue Nitro, asking what it’s doing here. He has concluded it can understand human language, the Blue Nitro’s mouth splitting in half to reveal a horrible toothed maw. Thinking it’s going to eat Ichiryuu, he first says it’s normal, since they’re virtually at the top of the food chain. But then he says it’s too high quality for him, scaring him away with his Intimidation. Midora comments that it managed to avoid his Hungry Tongue trap with ease, attesting to its great skill and power.

Midora is confused as to why Ichiryuu would bring this up now, but does respect him for following his ideals. He even admits that if he had wanted to kill him, the fight would’ve turned out differently. He decides that he should at least take him to a place where he can die with dignity and where he is at peace.

Elsewhere, we see the destruction of Human World, 25 billion people affected, over 100 nations infrastructure destroyed by the Meteor Spice’s rain of chaos. If nothing else, human life was preserved by the defense net of sorts that Ichiryuu prepared ahead of time

The biggest concern, of course, was the food supply, people spoiled by the Gourmet Age unable to cope with the radical change brought about by this loss.

Back at IGO headquarters, Mansam is healed from near death with much of the alcohol they have. Ray, one of the Bureau Chiefs whom we’ve met before, explains the situation briefly and also says that they need to start dispensing rations to the world. Mansam explains that Ichiryuu had a plan, ordering them to go to the underground storehouses of the research labs and take those ingredients they’ve stockpiled to the people.

We shift to the country of healing, LIFE, where Chiyo is recovering, waking to see Chinchin Chin. Setsuno seems forgiving of her, telling her to rest a bit longer. Chinchin Chin is crying tears of joy, since he cared deeply for Chiyo and we can presume that they were similar to Setsuno and Jirou as a pair, romantically involved.

Nono tells Setsuno that the ingredient preparation is complete. Setsuno explains that the chefs will have to work hard, but the ones that will truly save the world are the Gourmet Hunters like Toriko. The chapter ends as we see him standing, having recovered.

Fairy Tail 359

Tempesta is recharging at Tartaros Headquarters, apologizing to Kyouka, who reminds him of his name, which he seems to have forgotten. Every time he regenerates, he loses his identity in a sense, since names don’t mean anything to him now.

He asks how long it’ll take for his regeneration, Kyouka saying it would normally be a day, but since they’re creating a new demon, it’ll take longer. It turns out to be Minerva, who is being transformed, since she wasn’t originally a demon, but Kyouka judges her to have the right traits.

Flanmalth notes that Doriarte was a failure, so he hopes Minerva doesn’t turn out like that. He also says they’re using a lot of their resources to resurrect Tempesta and they shouldn’t use the magic barrier particles so commonly. Tempesta is raging at Fairy Tail, because if they hadn’t interfered, he might’ve succeeded in his mission to kill Yajima.

Minerva reacts by convulsing in anger at Fairy Tail’s name being mentioned. Kyouka notes that they beat both the Oracion Seis and Grimoire Heart, wondering if they’ll challenge Tartaros in the future.

Natsu is still furious, the others holding him down. Makarov and Erza remind him that they don’t know much about Tartaros or even their location, so even if they want to attack, they have nowhere to start from. The only thing they really have is that they’re targeting former council members, but that information’s classified, so it’ll be difficult to track them down. But Loki reveals that he knows some of them.

They find out 4 of their locations, splitting up into 4 groups to protect them and get the info from the Tartaros members. Porylusca asks them to try to get a blood sample from Tempesta so she can make a vaccine.

Makarov gives a rousing speech, saying they have to avenge their comrades, since they’re like family to each other.

We see one of the former council members, guarded by Lucy, Natsu and Wendy. The old man, Mikero, doesn’t want them to protect him and starts to leave. But his granddaughter manages to persuade him. The list of people who could target the former council members aren’t limited to Dark Guilds either

Mikero thinks it might be someone, but before he can finish the name, Natsu pushes everyone down and an explosion destroys the house. Natsu manages to eat the flame and the attacker turns out to be Jackal, who Natsu challenges as the chapter ends.

Magi 201

We’re back to Magi after a 2 week break.  We start with Aladdin getting some new clothes from Yamraiha. He comments they’re not the best, which she resents. She also gives him Mogamett’s staff, which he’s shocked at. But Yamraiha explains that the people of Magnostadt gave him the staff along with their hopes, which Aladdin promises he’ll fulfill. He also comments briefly that the staff was shortened for him a bit roughly, Yamraiha saying it’s fine, since it’ll be great for casting spells regardless.

We shift to Sharrkan and Alibaba fighting, Alibaba seemingly on the ropes, but he uses Magoi manipulation to stop Sharrkan’s Household Vessel from working, which impresses his master, but he also chides him for having other masters besides him. Toto comments that Alibaba’s ki sword is still undeveloped, only able to use it around the hilt, while she can use it around her whole sword. She notes that Morg is a little awkward around her, but after Morg says she’s not good around new people, Toto says she should relax, since there aren’t many female gladiators, so Toto wants to talk with her. Alibaba told her a lot about Morg, like that she was cute, which stuns the Fanalis.

A month passes and Alibaba receives an invitation from Kouen to the summit where the other kingdoms are meeting to discuss things with Magnostadt. Kouen expects an emissary, guiding him to the island where everyone will meet. There also won’t be Metal Vessels, so the potential for fighting is reduced. But Sinbad thinks the letter has another purpose: Kouen wants Alibaba and Aladdin to be his guide to the island, potentially to gain their power for himself. But Sinbad also notes that this is specifically a letter for Alibaba to meet Kouen at Balbadd, where his force is setting out to the summit. Alibaba thinks this is a bit of a taunt, since he knows that was Alibaba’s potential kingdom. Alibaba decides to go alone.

Aladdin asks Alibaba if he should go in spite of the agreement being that Aladdin wouldn’t be on the boat of the emissary to take Kouen to the summit. Alibaba notes that Kouen’s almost obsessed with the Magi and he might do something reckless if Aladdin shows up. Kouen could nullify the ceasefire and cause a war with Sindria Kingdom. He says Morg shouldn’t come either because it’ll be dangerous in Balbadd, being a territory of Kou.

The next day, however, Morg decided to go in Aladdin’s place, since there wasn’t anything really stopping her from going. Olba and Toto also come, so the gang is relatively balanced, even though there’s no magician coming. The chapter ends as they depart.

World Trigger 36

Osamu’s challenge to Kazama shocks everyone, since he lost so many times. But someone notices something’s changed about Osamu’s attitude

Osamu knows he doesn’t really stand a chance, but after finding out about Jin’s giving up his Black Trigger for them, he wants to land at least one blow

Karasuma explains in a flashback about types of Gunners: using assault rifles, handguns and even non gun shaped Triggers. The aspect of controlling every aspect: power, range and speed, related to unusual Gunner Triggers is impressive, but one has to concentrate a great deal compared to practicing with normal Gunner Triggers to get consistently better. They’re more reliable because they even improve range with a built in function.  The latter are called Gunner types, while those that are more unconventional are called Shooters. Karasuma says that while it might seem that Osamu would be better off as a Gunner, his lack of high Trion levels means he is better off improvising with his intelligence as a Shooter than relying on raw power and accuracy with a normal Gunner method.

The overall goal is to use every aspect of the battle and corner the opponent, control their movements, and otherwise predict the possibilities. Osamu has figured out one of Kazama’s weaknesses, but he still has to figure out how to hit him. He goes over the Triggers he has: a Shooter type Trigger, Asteroid, Shield, Raygust and a Thruster option to extent the Raygust’s blade. Using all this he vows to land a hit on Kazama

He starts by filling the room with bullets, using the Asteroid to control the speed so that the room is nearly engulfed by the amount of bullets. This way, Kazama can’t defend himself while invisible and has to stop using that option. But even without the Chameleon, Kazama isn’t without skill to brush away bullets near him. He rushes forward, Osamu waiting for the right moment. Everyone thinks he’s going to use a large blast when Kazama gets close, even Kazama predicting this.

Instead of firing the Asteroid, he uses the Thruster to charge at Kazama, pushing him against a wall. It seems like he’s in danger, since he’s in range of Kazama’s Scorpions, but he traps him with the infinite Trion training mode gives him in the Raygust’s shield. He opens a hole and fires at point blank range with the Asteroid, ending the battle (likely) as the chapter concludes with Yuma even saying it’s over

This was a nice fight, though Osamu did have an advantage he wouldn’t have elsewhere: infinite Trion. Kazama will likely bring that up even as he admits he’s not completely unqualified.

Bleach 555

The chapter starts with Kirinji and Senjumaru waiting for Ichigo to arrive, who appears in a new outfit made by Senjumaru. He asks if they’re going to use the Tenchuuren, but Kirinji says they’re going to walk, Senjumaru revealing a long set of stairs down to the Seireitei. Kirinji says that it’ll take a week, expecting Ichigo to be angry at him, but he just accepts it, saying he’ll just have to move quicker to cut down the time.

Ichibei comments on how calm he’s become, explaining that he won’t have to be there on time, since the Wandenreich have already started their attack 3 hours ago. Ichigo rushes down, the others commenting that they couldn’t speed things up, since he was still training 3 hours ago

Kirio manages to throw down a riceball she made for Ichigo so he can restore his strength. She comments that Ichigo seems like a different person now. Kirinji agrees saying his reiatsu has stabilized a lot. But Ichibei says he’s not stronger so much as he’s matured, becoming a true Soul Reaper.

Ichigo explains the situation to Kisuke, saying they have to keep at it until he gets there. Kisuke accepts, saying they’ll be waiting. Ichigo apparently pulls off his turban and continues rocketing down the center of the spiraling stairs.

Shinji’s still confused at Bambietta’s new Vollstandig (spelling seems to vary between translations, Viz saying Voll Stern Dich), getting a piece taken out of him by an explosion (hopefully not defeated). Bambietta’s subordinate Candice even has attained Vollstandig as well, her power coming out accidentally it seems when the other Stern Ritter used theirs. Giselle comments that Bambietta’s the most dangerous to use it, since she finishes battles too quickly. She even says she could end the war by herself potentially.  The chapter ends as we see her form more clearly from the back.

Naruto 653

Obito responds to Naruto bringing up his name by saying that since he’s fused with the Juubi, he’s transcended that name, that he’s a second Sage of the Six Paths.

But Naruto says otherwise. Having seen Obito’s memories, he sees how similar they are and that their biggest fear was solitude, not having anyone to rely on. They both wanted to be Hokage, but Obito just wants things to be easy for him. He accuses Obito of becoming the opposite of a Hokage. But Obito responds that he was using Naruto to reflect on his past, trying to make him feel the same despair he experienced years ago.

Naruto retorts that even though they have such common traits, he’s furious that Obito’s throwing away his past, thinking that will help him. Obito insists that he’s doing something even more than a Hokage, bringing about actual peace throughout the world. Naruto asks if he’s sure that what he’s doing is right, a flashback showing Obito telling Rin that she’s doing a great service, healing the future Hokage that he thinks he’ll become. He also tries to hint at his feelings for her before the flashback ends.

Obito says what he’s doing is indeed right. He says going down an uncertain path can lead to great suffering and if there’s a short cut, you should take it, especially if it leads to the same goal. Naruto strongly disagrees, saying that the shortcut isn’t how one should do things as Hokage, but taking the path in spite of the risks. Obito asks if he’s sure about that, but Naruto says someone has to venture forth and go down the dangerous path. That’s what a Hokage is to him: leading by example, taking on the pain for others and showing them the way forward. He emphasizes this by saying there are no shortcuts to becoming Hokage and you can’t make excuses to run away from the responsibility once you become Hokage.

Obito then flashes back to him acting tough in front of Rin, who says that if he wants her to really stay by his side, he has to show her his vulnerable aspects as well, which he agrees with as he begins to cry a bit.

Naruto observes that even though Obito said he threw away his memories, it was his past and the bonds he made with Kakashi, Rin and Minato that kept him from being overtaken by the Juubi and dominate it with his own will. He says Obito should come back to the Leaf and accept his penance. Naruto says Rin would want him to stop running and move on. He extends a hand to Obito as the chapter ends.

Not sure if Obito will just change sides like this and even if he does, all it means is that we’ll have Madara to deal with.

One Piece 726

Other gladiators start falling into the pit, including Ricky, the fighter from before who Rebecca recognized before. Someone singles him out, thinking he’s the previous king of Dressrosa, Riku. Some of the others heard he was dead or went insane, but it turns out the captain is right, having served under Riku before.

King Isabello compliments Riku, since he had saved Prodence in the past, but since he disappeared, things have become more chaotic, wars breaking out in nearby countries. Boo says it’s especially bad, since someone is supplying everyone with weapons for these conflicts, so they’re stoking the flames; that someone is Doflamingo. The problem is no one knows where the weapons are made or stored. Boo blames Riku for allowing Doflamingo to rise to power, he, his brother and Chinjao sent by the king of the Flower Country to stop the arms trading.

Dagama, Elizabello’s advisor, comments that while they may have been indebted to Dressrosa before, Riku caused trouble for them as well, but Tank, the captain from before, says that Dagama doesn’t know the sacrifice Riku had to make 10 years ago. Various soldiers who served under Riku give him their respect, even toys who were former soldiers standing up and bowing to him. This stuns people who thought he was despised by his country, though this seems to only be citizens, not the military.

Hack is seen talking to someone through a Den Den Mushi, commenting that with a pit this big, there could be other hidden areas. So he’s likely on a mission as well from Fishman Island, perhaps.

Suddenly a weird slimy blob grabs Sai and pulls him through a hole in the ceiling. We see Trebol, one of Doflamingo’s top 4 generals, and then Sai is seemingly turned into a toy, his will taken away from him. I’m not sure if Trebol is the cause or if he’s just capturing the prisoners from the coliseum for the actual Devil Fruit user. His orders suggest that the toys are being used to build the weapons since they have a lot of strength as fighters, so they apply that to cheap labor.

Luffy goes to find a better spot to view the Block D competition, commenting that people look happy there, but others don’t seem like that. One of the prisoners explains that Doflamingo divides the world into winners who accept things and losers who try to change things. Those who rebel are considered trash and put into the depths of the kingdom to hide away from the world. It’s compared to how the World Government does things, especially as relates to the Void Century cover-up. Luffy observes that it’s like his hometown, Gray Terminal.

Back at the Flower Fields, the Tontatta explain their history. They travelled from their original home to find more resources. Hunted by humans, they eventually met with Donquixote’s ancestor 900 years ago, who offered them what they desired in exchange for what became slave labor. This lasted around the Void Century or so. Afterwards, Riku took over, apologetic over their suffering, offering them anything in exchange for passing it off as the legend we hear of today in Dressrosa of the “fairies”

Riku also aided other countries, which made them less than prosperous, but it was a happy place and everyone was proud of their ruler. The Tontatta tribe in return, created the Flower Fields. Then Doflamingo returned, trying to return things to how they were, kidnapping 500 Dwarves. This is the cause for their great desire to overthrow his regime.

Usopp and Robin comment that the king seems to be hated by most of the people though. The toy soldier explains that 10 years ago, an event happened, which was a difficult decision by King Riku, trying to keep things under control. But everyone misunderstood that and they despise even his descendants. Doflamingo tried to eliminate most of them, but the toy soldier managed to protect Rebecca. He managed to keep her hidden for a while, but now she’s just a prisoner for the coliseum, a source of mockery for the crowds.

Usopp asks who he is that he’d be willing to go through all this for Rebecca and Riku, the toy soldier revealing he is Rebecca’s father, though she doesn’t realize this because he was a toy and thus her memories of him are gone.

Toriko 256

The chapter begins explaining more about the 8 kings of beasts that reign in Gourmet World. They maintain a balance of power between the various continents of the Gourmet World, sort of like warlords in a conflict like the Sengoku in Japan. It’s explained that they not only have the strength to rule, but a sensitivity to various events, such as shifts in the earth’s crust, even predicting the future in a way, so they survive many events that would’ve otherwise made them extinct.

They react with great shock to the awakening of a certain person, thinking he may be able to threaten even them. It turns out to be Toriko, coming back from the brink of death. Toriko himself is shocked at how active his cells are, but at the same time he cannot move, the Meteor Spice crashing around him as he weeps, presumably because he could not protect Komatsu.

We see back in Gourmet World Yosaku is fighting Kaitora. The two are at a standstill and Yosaku asks about Mohyan Shaishai, who Kaitora says is in their organization, which isn’t the Bishokukai, meaning Kaitora is in Neo.

Seeing that Midora and Ichiryuu’s fight is over, he retreats, saying that they just wanted to location of the ingredients in Acacia’s Full Course, so they could go to the Final Land, which I assume was what Acacia went to in the past.

He leaves, saying that Teppei also joined Neo, shocking Yosaku. We see the other 0th Biotope members have been defeated by the Bishokukai.

Back where Midora and Ichiryuu are, Midora is confused at what Ichiryuu means by the true enemy. Ichiryuu comments that Midora got some Nitro and is searching for GOD, but his organization was infested just as much as the 0th Biotope staff was. He doesn’t elaborate, but we’re meant to conclude he’s talking about Neo as the major villain overall.

Acacia didn’t predict Frohze’s death, especially since he needs a chef of her caliber to enter the Final Land. He therefore planted seeds for the worst case scenario, which was the potential for corruption, which Midora realized. Ichiryuu explains that Acacia purposefully made Midora search for the Cure Water, since it apparently has something to do with his Full Course. And Acacia was in alliance with the Blue Nitro, which has something to do with Frohze

Midora begins to realize who the true enemy is and then a Blue Nitro comes in, finishing Ichiryuu off as the chapter ends

I wonder about what Acacia’s alliance with the Blue Nitro entailed, not to mention why Midora was made to search for Cure Water on purpose by Acacia. All these questions may take some time to be answered, but the intrigue is what keeps me reading.

Fairy Tail 358

Laxus’s entrance encourages everyone, Laxus asking about Tempesta, the others explaining that he’s from Tartaros and after Yajima’s life. Tempesta then rips off his cloak, revealing his demonic form, which stuns Laxus. Tempesta attacks, Laxus managing to dodge and counter attack. Tempesta seems to be at a big disadvantage and Laxus strikes at him with even more power, slamming him into the ground

The others think about what to do, since they can’t go to the council. Freed suggests interrogating them at Fairy Tail.

It turns out Tempesta isn’t done yet. He says he’s impressed that humans have this kind of power, which they didn’t predict. He then says he’ll have to sacrifice one of his lives, implying that once he does, Laxus will start to lose.

He turns into a black mist after seemingly exploding. He then explains that these are magic barrier particles, which act as anti Eternano material and corrupting the environment. They’ll slowly kill magic users, who are especially susceptible.  He manages to escape, having to return to headquarters to restore his physical body. The others start to collapse and Laxus sucks in the particles, saying he’ll hold it off while the others escape.

Back at Fairy Tail, everyone was returned to the guild and Porylusca explains that they’ll live, but the magic particles have damaged them extensively. They shouldn’t be alive, especially with the amount that most of them breathed in, to say nothing of Laxus’ internal damage.

The village is especially bad, even non magic users dying from exposure, the death toll over a hundred already. Freed asks how the village is, Makarov lying and saying they’re fine.

Erza reflects that Jellal, being a previous Magic Council member, is a likely target as well.

The chapter ends as Natsu says this is a declaration of war, his face enraged.
