Boku no Hero Academia 65

The chapter begins by confirming that My Hero Academia will indeed have an anime, though it’s just greenlit at this point: we don’t know the studio, voice actors or the like yet, but it’s very exciting for a series to get this announcement, though this early makes me a bit concerned as well.

We resume on All Might having subdued Deku and Bakugou, the two wondering how it was possible when he says he’s only got about 20 minutes left

They flashback to fleeing All Might, Bakugou still amazed at the #1 Hero’s power to send a shockwave as powerful as he did. Deku wonders if All Might could’ve fainted from that attack, Bakugou saying that’s impossible, since Deku knows better than anyone how strong he is.

He plans to send Deku flying with his bracer if All Might catches up, but as he says this, All Might appears, shattering Bakugou’s gauntlet.

We hear the announcement of Momo and Todoroki’s victory, All Might thinking that he can’t let his guard down because of that. Deku tries to struggle and escape, but All Might pins him down again, Bakugou finally getting the full experience of how strong All Might is.

But Bakugou unleashes a powerful explosion to distract All Might long enough for him to grab Deku and throw him towards the gate.

However, Deku is struck by All Might, who thinks they were naïve to try such a simple tactic.

Bakugou bursts in behind All Might, noting that his gauntlet was just to utilize his full power without risks, but he knows now he can’t win this without taking a chance. He blasts All Might with a massive explosion, telling Deku to go ahead of him to win.

Deku notes that it’ll take him at least one leap in Full Cowl to get there. But even as Bakugou moves to cover his friend, All Might strikes him hard again.

As Deku sees All Might coming towards him, Bakugou recovers yet again, grabbing All Might. Deku takes the opportunity and punches his mentor with Full Cowl, distracting him enough so that he can grab Bakugou and run through the gate, completing the exam.

The chapter ends as All Might is impressed, the tough situation a motivator for Deku to push past his limits and overcome all challenges.

Seven Deadly Sins 147

As Galan and Merascylla continue to chase Ban’s group, the Commandment of Truth notices that his strength has returned, striking the ground with great force to show off how much Ban stole from him.

Merascylla tells Galan that their targets have slowed, likely from Ban using the maximum extent of his Snatch power. Galan says he’ll test something out as we move to Ban’s group.

Jericho is struggling to hold the two, nearly collapsing or tripping on foliage. Elaine apologizes to Jericho, saying that she was terrible to think all humans but Ban were awful.

But before Jericho can respond, she’s forced to dodge giant boulders that we see Merascylla carving out of a mountain, while Galan hits them like a golfball.

He puts an extra spin on the newest one, Jericho stunned as it turns back after landing. The Holy Knight throws Ban and Elaine to the side, taking the boulder head on, Ban stunned that she survived. But Jericho reminds him that she’s a Holy Knight apprentice, even as she collapses from the strain.

She pushes herself to go on, Ban telling her to stop. But she retorts that even if they’re giving up, it just makes her want to continue forward to save them.

Galan makes another shot, which after crashing near Jericho, knocks her off a cliff. Elaine cushions their fall with a wind blast, the group near a cave that Jericho moves towards.

They find that it goes further in, a door before them that opens into a bar. We see a seemingly mild mannered old man who welcomes them as the chapter ends.

If one isn’t familiar with all 7 Sins, this is Escanor, hinted at by his appearance, which is weak depending on the time of day, not to mention his Sacred Treasure above the spirits he’s serving, as well as the name of the bar, “My Sweet Gluttony,” which is referring to Merlin, who Escanor deeply admired and loved.

World Trigger 120

Yuma and Osamu are confused at the expression “master”, Enedora explaining that it’s more like a foster parent. Hyuse was of low birth, but had decent Trion, so his master picked him up, used the experimental Trion horns and trained him to be a soldier

The Erin family may have been kinder to Hyuse, treating him more like a son than a soldier.

Osamu wonders if Hyuse knew about the plan, Enedora saying that he and Hyuse may have both been tricked by Hyrein into thinking they were focused on one plan, but he was using them both to keep each other in the dark of his intent to have both plans go through: abandon both Enedora and Hyuse for differing, but similar reasons to being in the way of Hyrein’s plan to gain influence in Aftokrator.

Enedora thinks it’s possible Hyuse is suspicious, or at least wants to get back to his family, using Galopoula or Rhodokhroun as an opportunity to return. The group leaves, noting that they need to keep a close eye on Hyuse, Jin’s Foresight only so much to rely on.

Yuma and Osamu talk about the possibility of recruiting Hyuse, since they both need to get to Aftokrator, creating the possibility of a shared interest for an alliance.

Yuma wonders if they should research the vassal nations of Aftokrator, but Osamu says they should focus on Rank Wars for now to advance and improve their overall skill for future missions, like the Away Mission to the Neighborhood.

We see Chika in training firing the Lead Bullet with Ibis, but it’s too slow, as Yuzuru noted. But when it does hit, the person is pretty much immobilized with massive Lead Bullets. The Lightning/Lead Bullet strategy still seems the most feasible, though Izuho also notes that Asteroid or Hound could be a nice backup for Chika, since we saw it was very powerful in the last invasion.

Chika tells the two how happy she feels to be spending time with them and improving as Snipers, not wanting to be in Osamu or Yuma’s way until she feels she can match up to them.

The defense meeting concludes, Miwa accepting an offer from Azuma about yakiniku, while Jin is rebuffed by Miwa, who tells him to stop slacking off. The others say that Jin shouldn’t have to shoulder the burden alone.

The chapter ends as we see a group of Neighbors from Galopoula moving closer to Meeden/Earth, Rhodokhroun only sending Trion soldiers, while the Galopoula Neighbors are noted to have special Trion soldiers and new Triggers.

World Trigger is on break next week

One Piece 805

Zoro comments that the attack from Carrot was like electricity flowing through his blade. Franky is confused at this race, Usopp asking where they got Nami’s clothes. Robin thinks they might’ve eaten them.

As Carrot jumps into the air to see if there are invaders, she notices there’s fighting near Claw City

They head off, the other Mink giving them directions to the rest of the crew’s corpses. As they leave, Carrot notes that they’re going to be shocked at what happens, but her superior says they have no choice, even if they have to fight Luffy, who they think may be attacking at Whale Forest.

The group is confused as to whether the rest of the crew might be dead, Franky thinking they could still be alive, Robin noting that the corpses are still intact. Zoro thinks Sanji couldn’t have been killed that easily.

Robin asks Law if he can contact his crew, the Death Surgeon noting that he has Bepo’s Vivre card. It turns out his navigator is also a Mink, though he doesn’t remember much, since he left the kingdom at a young age. The group heads out to find him, thinking that’d be better than following another Mink’s orders, since Law trusts Bepo as a friend.

We shift to Luffy fighting some of the Guardians that Carrot spoke of. A Bull Mink’s Electro power doesn’t work on Luffy as they butt heads. One of Law’s crew members tells them to stop fighting, but a Gorilla Mink throws him on his back. Suddenly, Carrot and her boss come in, distracting them with a flowing cape and bananas respectively.

Wanda, the Dog Mink, tells the Guardians that she’ll take Luffy out of the forest if they’ll leave, the third Guardian, Pedro, telling his allies to retreat. Luffy’s shocked, seeing that they had him surrounded, Wanda saying it could’ve been worse if the moon was out.

Luffy’s still confused at this place, while Bepo asks how he doesn’t recognize them from Law’s crew. There’s some confusion with Luffy calling Trafalgar “Traffy”, but eventually Bepo realizes that Luffy’s talking about his captain, excited that he’s here.

Robin and the others are still investigating the situation with the city, seemingly abandoned recently, with some signs of life still around, such as a pot of stew. They see a giant footprint, but Law thinks it could’ve been a conflict between the Minks.

Wanda is explaining the situation to Luffy, the city having fallen into ruin thanks to someone called Jack, possibly the same one that was pursuing Doflamingo.

The chapter concludes as Luffy is told by Wanda that she’ll take him to her friends, though she seems to react oddly when Luffy thinks they’re alive.

Bleach 649

Lille tries to swim out, but finds that the surface keeps slipping away from him.

Shunsui comments that they’re in this together, but also says that it isn’t just their bodies that begin to grow cold, but their wills. He says that it is shameful that the Quincy can be so selfish, but seems to speak about himself as well in breaking an oath. A woman being loyal to him, the compassion she manifests, is implied to refer to one half of Katen Kyokotsu, Sakuranosuke.

She’s fairly hostile, regarding him as a womanizer and generally selfish in nature, but she’s still sticking to her bond of fealty to him, taking in everything he loves and hates.

Lille thinks this is still not enough to beat him, rushing at the Shinigami to kill him.

But suddenly, Shunsui notes again of how a woman can suffer as well for her love, suddenly losing passion.

The Final Stage of his Bankai activates, Thread Cutting Shears, Blood Stained Windpipe. The Ex Axis’ throat is slashed and his reiatsu explodes out of him, seemingly defeated as he falls into the abyss.

Shunsui collapses on Sakuranosuke’s lap, happy to be with her in his final moments. But the Zanpakutou still acts flippant, thinking they’re incompatible to begin with. As the Soul Reaper begins to speak about his true feelings, he’s blasted through the chest with a massive beam from Lille Barro.

The chapter ends as the Quincy still manages to survive in a twisted form, saying that his Bankai cannot stand against his powers as a prophet.

Toriko 345

The mysterious woman who met with Komatsu reminds the chef of someone, possible Frohze or his Gourmet Cell Demon. But she suddenly disappears as they’re surrounded by other chefs from Blue Grill.

They ask what Komatsu’s doing here, the old man saying he’s here for work. The chefs accept it, taking him with them as Komatsu continues to wonder about that woman, her voice familiar to him.

Meanwhile, Chako is given a mask by the person who took him aside, telling him to wear it and go to the line for the Red Pot. He’s taken away as the person worries for him, thinking he has potential to make something of himself, implying it may be his mother after Soul Transaction.

The old man explains to Komatsu that the selection divides people into those with abnormal bodies and abnormal spirits, the latter switched with those who are excellent in nature, allowing them to work and advance in status, like that of the 10 Shell Five. They were revived countless times, so they retained all that experience, seeming like they’ve lived thousands of years.

The abnormal bodies, however, are killed and turned into fertilizer, providing savoriness for the Full Course. Or if they’re lucky, they’ll be put into forced labor.

The group enters the First Kitchen, where AIR is being prepared, Komatsu amazed at them, even commenting how he’s prepared and eaten it. One of the superiors thinks he’s crazy, explaining that it takes several years with their method, developed by Ika, the Soul Reviver.

But Komatsu insists that their method is wrong, saying that he can finish this project with his skill.

We see Jiji’s group in the Back Channel, Damala asking him whether the World of Souls and the Back Channel are the same thing. The Gold Chef notes that the World of Souls is the deepest part of the Back Channel, something comparable to a Safe Zone from a Camping Monster, the greatest of its kind.

We’re told that ANOTHER is the source of all the savoriness in the Gourmet World seas. Whale King Moon is just one of the predators that seeks it, but the mysterious fish managed to escape even the high gravity of Whale King Moon by surpassing the speed of light, entering into the Back Channel, which is a type of Safe Zone that’s greater than those of the Camping Monsters, and of greater scale, it seems.

Even the Warp Kitchen and Warp Road are artificial forms of Back Channel, also allowing flesh and blood bodies to enter the Back Channel, time flowing slower, but still flowing. There is said to be a world called Time Zero, which is the World of Souls, where only consciousness can reach. The gates are where ANOTHER escaped, meaning it became more of a soul in exceeding the speed of light.

Rin asks how they create the artificial Back Channels, Asarudy showing them the kitchens where they’re preparing Acacia’s Full Course, saying that’s part of how they achieved this power.

They explain that this is their goal, Jiji noting that it’s similar to what the Blue Nitro are doing. The chapter ends as we see that Komatsu has done the true preparation method for AIR, Asarudy in shock at this.

Fairy Tail 458

Azir is shocked to see that a blade cut him, Erza revealing that her new Poseidon sword has water properties to harden it. As the Desert King unleashes a wave of sand at her, she uses the Wind God Sword to blow it away, the combination seemingly giving her the advantage.

But then Azir initiates a sand storm that engulfs the entirety of Magnolia, everyone’s vision obscured, only the Dragon Slayers able to seemingly even track someone with their noses.

Wahru even notes that Azir using this suggests he might see Erza as a challenge.

We see that Erza can’t fight against Azir as he’s seemingly mixed in with the sandstorm, firing blades of sand and knocking her back. She’s immobilized as he grabs her, sucking away the life force in her body as water. All he asks is that she call him God.

But Erza won’t back down, saying that everyone knows who to believe in, and it’s not the Spriggan master of sand.

She unleashes Armor of the Morning Star, the light serving as a beacon for Bisca to fire Jupiter Cannon at Azir. The blast strikes him and Erza finishes him off with Nakagami Starlight as the chapter ends with the sandstorm dissipating.

Magi’s still on break until at least next week, if not later

Boku no Hero Academia 64

Momo tells Todoroki she had the idea from the start, Aizawa hoping they don’t notice that his use of the Quirk Erase power has become more concentrated from his injuries a few months ago.

The pair retreats as Todoroki finds his Quirk has been erased, Momo saying they should try to hide for now.

Her plan involves taking advantage of the moment when Aizawa blinks, using that instant when their Quirks are freed from his suppression to attack and get out of his line of sight so they can attack him when he’s vulnerable from a period of inaction to water his eyes.

Todoroki’s Ice power creates a giant glacier that blocks Aizawa from getting to them for a while, Momo creating a facsimile of Eraserhead’s weapon. She explains the plan off panel, concluding by noting that this will be decided in an instant, Todoroki confident they can pull it off.

Aizawa’s waiting for them, since he’s covering the escape gate from his position. He sees what looks like Momo and Todoroki escaping under black cloaks, since that technically blocks his Quirk from working on them. Aizawa seemingly captures them in his binding “tape”, but it turns out Momo created a mannequin to resemble their upper halves, hiding a catapult under the cloak.

It releases the weapon Momo created, Todoroki commanded to shoot heat under it. Aizawa’s confused, but Momo reveals that the special ingredient she added is a memory shape alloy that returns to its original form when exposed to heat, the tape binding Aizawa, the battle finished.

Momo wonders if Aizawa lost on purpose, since he pulled back as she was preparing to launch the weapon, but he says that he was focusing on Todoroki, since he thought he’d be frozen again, but it seems that Momo’s plan worked as she expected, the Creation Quirk user tearing up at her accomplishment and being acknowledged by her superior.

Meanwhile, after Recovery Girl announces that Momo and Todoroki are the first to win, we see the other teams having difficulty, the chapter concluding as Deku and Bakugou are seemingly defeated by All Might’s power, even at around 50% output, the #1 Hero noting that they may still have passed because they tried to work together.

Next week is an announcement, possibly an anime being greenlit, but also connected to a spin off manga called Boku no Hero Academia Smash.

Seven Deadly Sins 146

As Galan finishes off Ban’s soul, Merascylla is still upset at how he stole her prey. But Galan responds that he made the effort and he deserves the prize.

Jericho and Elaine see Ban’s body, seemingly now the hollow shell that Merascylla said it would become once his soul was consumed.

The two Demons bicker, Merascylla saying that she kept Galan safe, since he’s apparently so weak he couldn’t even beat an old man (possibly referring to Meliodas?)

But suddenly, as Jericho says she’ll avenge Ban, the Sin of Greed moves as if nothing happened, taking out Galan and Merascylla’s hearts and seemingly defeating them.

The three retreat, Galan still in shock at how Ban is alive even after he ate the Undead Sin’s soul. He leaps up, stabbing his spear at the town, causing massive damage to try to find his prey.

As Ban’s group recuperates, Jericho and Elaine wonder how Ban survived, Ban thinking he was done for as well.

We flashback, discovering that Zhivago’s soul took Ban’s place, serving as a decoy, while Ban got back into his body. Ban says he shouldn’t do it, since his real son wouldn’t be able to meet him, but Zhivago says he regards Ban as his son as well, and that Therion should understand. He tells Ban to live for the people he treasures as we return to the present.

Ban is weakened after Hunter’s Festival drained so much strength from everyone else, the two Demons closing in.

Jericho is told by Ban to take Elaine and run, but Elaine tells Jericho to take Ban and run, since she’ll just die again once Merascylla’s spell wears off.

The chapter ends as Jericho takes both of them, moving to retreat, saying they both owe her for this.

World Trigger 119

Yuzuru brings Chika and Izuho to Kageura Squad’s battle room, his Operator surprised to see him bringing girls back. She offers the kotatsu, but Yuzuru says they just need to use the training room.

Izuho wonders how Ema will help Chika with her inability to shoot people, the Sniper saying that he just has a Trigger he thinks might help Chika somewhat.

He theorizes that Chika is afraid because of the explosions that result from her shooting someone, rather than just marking them like in training. People tend to have those issues when fighting Trion bodies, even if technically they’re not flesh and blood and thus the person is in no real danger.

The fact that people can get hurt in a sense, the realism of the Trion body’s reaction to damage, is what seems to be at the core of Chika’s resistance to shoot, Ema noting how they’ve altered settings on Gunner Triggers so the ricochet only knocks an innocent bystander unconscious rather than piercing them.

Some people will stop because of the pain that still results from the damage, becoming Operators or Engineers, but he thinks Chika won’t have an issue if she isn’t hurting people.

After some help from his Operator, Nire, he adjusts Chika’s Sniper to fire Lead Bullets, like we saw with Miwa when he first fought Yuma.

The major tradeoff is that you can’t use it alongside Bagworm, but it disables people nonetheless, so that, plus the ability to go through Shield Triggers, makes is especially dangerous in the hands on a Sniper.

Another weakness is the bullet speed, but using a different Sniper besides Ibis, such as Lightning or Egret, will allow Chika to maximize distance or speed with her massive Trion.

Izuho is impressed, Ema saying it was Hatohara who made this theory, but she wasn’t able to utilize it, since you need high Trion levels to enable such a strategy to work. She notes how Yuzuru is being nice, wondering if it’s because he likes her, Kageura’s Sniper saying it’s because he’s worried about Chika becoming like Hatohara.

Meanwhile, Enedora is explaining the situation of Aftokrator to Yuma and Osamu. The Holy Land has 4 families, each of them competing for land and resources. The only time they band together is when the God of Aftokrator is dying. But there’s still competition involved, since the family that gains the God has priority until the next generation. This is why Hyrein was trying to get Trigger users with high Trion, since he’s one of the family heads.

But since he didn’t see the possibility of finding a God candidate as very high, Hyrein had a backup plan of using someone from his clan instead to replace the dying God. However, the opposition would be strong in the case of losing someone with high potential, so Hyrein had Hyuse, the one who would’ve had the strongest objection, in Meeden, so he couldn’t undermine his plan.

The end of the chapter reveals that the person who was chosen to be the next God candidate in the event of a failure was Hyuse’s master.

One Piece 804

Most of the group on Kanjuro’s “Dragon” manages to dodge the tiny monkey that falls in their path, but Kanjuro and Kinemon are struck as they have a weird exchange where Kanjuro tries to be a ninja by covering the Fox Fire Samurai’s eyes.

The two are fine, communicating that from a distance, though it seems like the monkey is also audible, either through an echo, or some voice that resounds in everyone’s heads. They press on, the samurai pair saying they’ll catch up later.

After the group gets to the summit, the Climbing Dragon reverts to a painting, Robin, Franky and Usopp somewhat distraught, while Zoro and Law move on, unaffected by its passing. They see a wall, apparently guarding the entrance to the civilization.

Luffy has already gone ahead, seeing the massive landscape in front of him and impressed at all of this being on the back of an elephant. The others go through the gate, Law observing that something appears to have broken the gates and forced its way in.

Even the path ahead of them indicates destruction of a large scale, not just beasts of the forest passing through.

As they move closer to the city itself, we see that there are Minks watching them.

The main city seems abandoned, Franky noting there’s not even a trace of gunpowder or gas in the air.

Suddenly, Zoro, Law and Franky notice something, one of the Minks, resembling a bunny person, attacks, Zoro blocking as the Mink uses their agility to dodge his initial strike.

But they’re called back by another Mink who’s dressed in Nami’s clothes, the chapter ending on this revelation, which confuses Usopp.

Bleach 648

Ichigo meets up with Askin as we start the chapter. The Quincy tells Ichigo that he defeated Grimmjow, but he won’t say where he is.

Suddenly, everyone is affected by a strange presence, like they’ve got the chills all of a sudden, the atmosphere getting darker and colder. Ichigo notices that the reiatsu is Shunsui’s as we shift to his fight with Ex Axis

Kyouraku asks the Quincy how the scenery appears to him, Lille noting that it’s become very dark and murky, thinking this must be the Bankai’s power.

But the Ex Axis attacks Kyouraku, thinking that this will negate the Bankai. However, the seemingly invincible Quincy is damaged as Shunsui reveals the first level of his Bankai, Hesitant Sharing of Wounds. Any damage he inflicts on the Captain Commander will be done upon himself as well and they cannot die from the attacks.

The second form progresses, Bed of Shame inflicting an illness on the Quincy who took damage and the third stage initiates, the chapter ending on it, Rejected Fish’s Abyss.

The two are plunged into what seems to be water, only one of them surviving when the others' reiatsu expires.

Toriko 344

We continue the flashback, Don Slime saying they’re going to prepare Acacia’s Full Course to revive Ichiryuu. Yuda asks if that means they have the ingredients here, the king of Blue Grill responding that they need to go to the Back Channel, Asarudy commanded to open his Warp Kitchen to transport them.

We see Chako being pushed along with others to the Kitchen of Eternity as sacrifices for the Food Spirits and then get a good mapping of Blue Grill as a whole.

Meanwhile, Komatsu is on a one way trip to the Kitchen of Eternity on the Train To Hades. The old man asks him if he’s afraid, Komatsu noting that he’s already died once. But the old man responds that the real danger isn’t death, but eternity, which can happen as you’re revived over and over in the Soul Trade.

But Komatsu thinks there’s still hope, even noting that the old man tried to stop them from taking Chako, since he’s kind of beaten up. He notes this means the geezer hasn’t given up entirely. The true purpose of what’s going on in Area 6 occurs to the chef: the revival and cooking of Acacia’s Full Course.

We shift to the Kitchen of Eternity, Meyl, one of the executive chefs under the 10 Shell 5, complaining about how gross the preparation of the Full Course is. They’re told about the Food Spirits that escaped through the Food Spirit Gate, having forced their way through rather than being allowed by the guardian, Ika.

In the Back Channel, more Food Spirits are trying to escape, but suddenly Don Slime’s group appears, the Gourmet Cell Demon stopping the enemies before them with a shout. He actually blows them away, Jiji confused as to their motivation, since it seemed like they were fleeing something rather than seeking new bodies to possess.

The chefs sense the Food Sentiment of the Food Spirits, seeking to get out from the Back Channel, but they also have many questions about the state of things and why they’re preparing the Full Course. We see Ichiryuu's younger form as they begin to discuss this.

The chapter ends as Komatsu comes out of the Train To Hades, meeting up with a mysterious woman.

Fairy Tail 457

As Lucy sits in the tub, she asks Brandish what she wants, the Spriggan telling her to put on some cat ears, which makes her look much cuter in Brandish’s view. She feels like she’s seen Lucy somewhere, but can’t remember. Her mind changes about the cat ears, asking Lucy to take them off and scrub her back.

As Lucy’s washing, she notices that Brandish has let her guard down, planning to use the broken key of Aquarius to stab her. But suddenly, Brandish, after being told Lucy’s name directly, thinks she might recognize her as Layla’s daughter. After Lucy confirms this, Brandish starts to shrink the room in anger.

Lucy rushes to escape, Brandish commenting on how surprised she is to find her here after exiting the building. She’s unwilling to tell the story, Cana managing to keep her at bay while Lucy smashes the tube with Marin in it, disabling him as she moves to use her Stellar Spirit magic. She puts on Aries Dress form as she and Cana plan to tag team.

Erza manages to Requip Wind God’s Armor and counter attacks Azir, who still says the attacks aren’t really hurting him.

Meanwhile, it seems like Natsu, Wendy and Gajeel have beaten their opponents, but Baqel attacks Natsu, saying they can’t beat the entire empire if they can’t even defeat Azir’s squad.

Natsu seems unfazed, punching Baqel into the sky with one attack, knocking him into Azir’s ship. The chapter ends as Erza lands a solid slash on Azir, the tables turning for Fairy Tail.
