Bleach has 2 light novels being written by the author of Durarara, who did Stealth Symphony back in 2014 in Jump. They’re going to be about Rukia and Renji’s wedding as well as exposit more on Shuuhei Hisagi and other mysteries left unsolved in Bleach.

Boruto, a monthly series in Shounen Jump (odd, since it’s weekly in nature, minus the American release that mixes various Jump magazines together), is getting an anime in 2017 and it turns out Naruto’s getting a live action film eventually, not unlike Bleach, albeit Naruto will be done by Hollywood studios by comparison.

We should be back to normal schedule by January, but with Shounen Jump’s scheduling and such with Xmas and New Years’ so close together, the New Year’s Eve release will have a break afterwards

Black Clover 90-91

Fanzel remembers when he taught Mars and Ladros and how their power should be used to protect.

In the present, he knows that his attack barely affected Ladros, who uses high level fortification magic.

But Mars appears behind Fanzel, the Wind Sword Mage trying to keep his strongest student at bay.

Fanzel remembers how Ladros had no elemental affinity, but he had such a large amount of mana that if he learned a technique that was long range, he’d be especially dangerous.

He strikes Ladros with Gale Force, his strongest attack, Ladros seemingly defeated.

But it turns out he’s just been absorbing the attack, revealing that his surgery, like the one Mars got to enhance his magic powers, allowed Ladros to absorb and expel magic.

Ladros unleashes his power as he provokes Fanzel to retreat and protect Domina, the lasers striking even his allies as he blasts the entire battlefield.

Fanzel, who’s been injured severely after pushing Domina out of the way, is unable to stop Ladros as he grabs Domina by the throat, recognizing her as Fanzel’s lover who fled with him from the kingdom.

As Fanzel tells him he needs to use his powers for good, Ladros retorts that he never intended to do such a thing. He thinks people should use their powers to the full extent for their own self interests, saying that Fanzel failed because he didn’t do such a thing and was banished for his weakness, even calling him a coward.

But Domina blasts Ladros, saying that her husband is no coward.

As Ladros prepares to blast her, his attack is deflected by Mars

The Mineral Fire Mage tells Fanzel that his teachings did reach him as the chapter ends with him standing to protect Domina against Ladros.

Ladros demands to know why Mars interfered, the Mineral Fire Mage telling him that their goal is the Witch Queen, not these innocents.

But Ladros retorts that protecting Fanzel and Domina means defending fugitives from the Diamond Kingdom, Mars saying that he fully understands that and the betrayal it implies.

Ladros is ecstatic, always having resented Mars’ power and now using the opportunity to kill both him and Fanzel.

Mariela steps in, using her magic to attack Ladros, who regards it as a nuisance. But then Mars sends him flying in the air with an attack, Ladros countering by unleashing his stored up power again.

Mars says that he’ll explain things later, but that he knows 2 ways to beat Ladros’ ability: either overwhelming it with high amounts of mana, from spirit magic or the Witch Queen or antimagic, such as from Asta’s swords.

The group decides to try and draw Ladros over to that area, Fanzel and Mars taking advantage of Ladros’ arrogance in his new power to blast him back with their own reinforcement magic

They run towards where Asta and the others are facing Fana, Mars recognizing the magic slightly.

Asta is trying to convince Fana that she should give up or she’ll make the people she cares about sad, but this only further enrages her that humans would talk about her friends and family, her magic power surging again.

Ladros taunts Mars and Fanzel, saying that running away is pointless.

Asta sees Fanzel and the others coming towards them, Fanzel remembering Asta’s power as Fana unleashes a massive fireball.

He tells Asta to knock the fireball at him with his cleaver sword, Asta agreeing reluctantly.

Fanzel then moves the others out of the way and redirects the attack at Ladros, the attack hitting him head on, the chapter ending as he’s seemingly overloaded by the power, exploding.

Boku no Hero Academia 119-120

Deku thinks to himself that this fight with Bakugou may just be a way for both of them to vent in their own ways, Bakugou for his resentment of Deku gaining power from All Might and Deku for standing up to his bully after many years and trying to reach out to him

The two begin to fight in earnest, though Deku finds he can’t react fast enough relative to his thoughts, which are slower than Bakugou’s more instinctive and practiced fighting method.

Deku compliments Bakugou, but he still takes it as his rival being arrogant, looking down on him as he gained such power that Bakugou was unable to keep up at first.

Bakugou tries the Stun Grenade technique, though Deku manages to shield his eyes enough, though Bakugou still manages to knock him back

He still resents Deku for his attitude, always plotting, never able to be fully understood, which just made Bakugou hate him even more for his perceived disdain at someone he could surpass.

But Deku retorts that in spite of Bakugou being so abusive to him, he still admires him for how talented he was from a young age, which is why he kept following him.

Deku, having finally realized that he’s gotten a better grasp of his power and trained his body to a higher degree, unleashes 8% power, managing to outspeed Bakugou and striking him with a kick as the chapter ends

We’ll get the results of the 2nd character popularity poll next time

The next chapter starts with Deku noting that even if it was just a 3% increase, for a moment, he was able to be stronger than Bakugou. But Bakugou still keeps some measure of strength, pushing Deku back, even though he didn’t get a direct hit.

Deku thinks to himself that when his desire to win is stronger than the desire to rescue, he can be more reckless and even say things he might regret. But he also notes how Bakugou represents that desire for victory so much that it might’ve rubbed off on him.

With Bakugou misinterpreting his Shoot Style as just using his legs, Deku manages to land a solid punch on his rival, but Bakugou turns it around and pins Deku to the ground with an explosion that blasts them down.

Having won against Deku, in spite of Deku getting better at using All Might’s power, he demands to know why he managed to win.

All Might stops him from going further, having eavesdropped on them.

Bakugou wants to know why All Might chose Deku, All Might saying he was so heroic that he deserved to be given a chance to stand along with other people who already showed great promise like Bakugou.

He also tells Bakugou he was eventually going to lose his power either way, so he shouldn’t blame himself for the #1 Hero’s fall.

All Might emphasizes that Deku and Bakugou both have great traits as a Hero, wanting to protect others and wanting to win. If they build each other up, they can become the best Heroes possible.

Bakugou figures out that only Recovery Girl and Principal Nedzu know about All Might’s secret, so he vows to keep it secret as the chapter ends.

The popularity poll shifted things around, Bakugou actually the #1, followed by Deku and Todoroki. Asui remains the most popular girl, Ochako right behind her in the top 10 characters overall, which now includes Aizawa as well as Kirishima.

Magi 331

Alibaba asks Aladdin if they should go to the Sacred Palace and stop Sinbad, though he wonders why Sinbad even gave them the opportunity to stop him.

Aladdin thinks they might be wrong to oppose him, since they’re in the minority here. He asks Alibaba directly what he thinks, saying that since he’s Aladdin’s King Candidate as a Magi, he deserves to express his opinion on this.

Alibaba decides he’ll think about this, Aladdin advising him to go to Kou and talk to Morgiana.

He returns to Kou and talks to Morgiana, who reveals that she is affected by Sinbad’s shared hope, thinking that he should want to go back to the Rukh as well, since he thinks of others’ needs before himself.

She comments on how after Alibaba freed her, the adventures she had alongside Alibaba and Aladdin helped her to understand herself better, to learn to love herself as she grew to love Alibaba.

But Alibaba asks her again if she really wants to go back to the Rukh, commenting that she didn’t want him to die after he proposed to her. Morgiana responds that she’s willing to die to be by his side.

She asks him to hold the wedding ceremony so they can be married and then be a couple in the next life as they enter the Rukh.

Alibaba grabs her, saying that isn’t what he wants to fight for, to be limited by others’ desires and avoid fighting to create some illusory peace, the chapter ending as he resolves to somehow change Morgiana’s mind.

One Piece 850

We see Chopper and Carrot checking the mirrors to figure out which one connects to Big Mom’s Castle, since if they’re in contact with Brulee, they can pass through the mirror to the outside world and help the others.

Meanwhile Sanji has finished preparing his picnic for Pudding, going off to meet her.

Luffy’s struggling to get out of prison, even going so far as to try and pull his hands off, not willing to just sit around and wait to be rescued. Nami thinks he’s crazy, but he persists in spite of that, trying anything to escape

Pedro and Tamago fight as Pedro remembers how he first encountered Pekoms, learning he was allied with Big Mom and his ally, Zepo, losing all his life after Big Mom’s roulette landed on 100 years of life.

Pekoms begged Big Mom to have mercy, the Yonkou still insisting on at least 60 years for taking away Tamago’s eye. Pedro convinces her to reduce it to 50 by taking out his own eye.

Tamago has an advantage with his reach as a Long Leg Tribe member and even has tights that make the Electro power useless against him. He asks Pedro why he’d ever come back to a place where he lost so much, Pedro responding that he believes in the Straw Hats. He thinks they will change the world, becoming strong enough to even challenge Big Mom, persisting in his fight and seemingly defeating Tamago in one strike.

Meanwhile, Sanji is trying to give Pudding her gift, but the door, alive by Big Mom’s Devil Fruit, won’t open up.

He moves to try and give it to Pudding through the balcony, but he hears Pudding, who has revealed a third eye, laughing at the very idea of actually loving Sanji. She speaks about how good she is at acting, one of Big Mom’s favorite children

Luffy and Nami confirm this treachery as they note Pudding’s whispered secret was that she plans to kill Sanji at the wedding, even saying the rest of the Straw Hats won’t survive either.

Pudding tells Reiju, who’s still bleeding as she sits in her room, that Big Mom intends to use the science from Germa 66 to make an army that can be easily replaced with the cloning technology.

The plan is further elaborated by Pudding as she says they lured them in, all of Germa’s kingdom in one place, Big Mom planning to massacre the entire Vinsmoke family at the wedding tomorrow, the chapter ending on this revelation.

Fairy Tail 514-515

We flashback to 400 years ago in the Dragnov Kingdom, where we’re told about the Western Kingdom of Alvareth being attacked.

Lord Belserion, Eileen’s husband, returns from an observation of things and notes how the dragons are not only assaulting, but eating the humans, which Eileen finds abhorrent.

Ishgar is well known for humans and dragons coexisting, but the Dragon King Festival, a war between the dragons, began soon after due to the slaughter in the west.

In spite of Eileen’s Enchantment powers, the higher numbers of the Alvareth Dragons and some of Ishgar’s Dragons refusing to fight against their own kind made the battle heavily disadvantageous to the East

Belserion still persists, not wanting to give up this fight, because he still feels he owes a great debt to the humans, including Eileen’s ancestor.

Eileen says she wants to fight and suggests that he grant her the power of the Dragon through a secret art she has developed from her Enchantment.

It turns out Eileen was the originator of Dragon Slayer magic, developing it to fight against the evil dragons and assist Belserion. This comes as a great shock to Erza and Wendy.

Meanwhile, Natsu, with Lucy nude and trying to keep his body heat up, learns of this in his mind from manifestations of Wendy and Gajeel.

Natsu still doesn’t understand, Gajeel and Wendy saying that they’re just guides Natsu conjured up to stimulate his memory as they say the truth of his imminent death and the cause will be revealed soon

Meanwhile, Eileen explains that while the Dragon Slayer magic was a great boon to the, it also had great suffering involved with those who could either not fully bear the abilities or were affected as Eileen was.

A Dragon Seed bloomed from them, indicating that they were slowly becoming dragons. At that point, Eileen had already conceived Erza, meaning this is where Erza’s power originates from, the chapter ending on this revelation

The next chapter begins by revealing that Eileen’ husband and Erza’s father was not Belserion, but a general from a neighboring country, married for political reasons. They both cared for the Dragon King as he died and experienced the suffering of Acnologia ending the war abruptly with his slaughter of both sides.

But afterwards, Eileen was imprisoned by her husband in spite of her pleas that she was carrying his child, Erza’s father regarding her and her mother as monsters because of what the Dragon Seed did to her body.

She was tortured and humiliated for three years, all the while Erza protected by magic as she lay in her womb. Her father insisted she was lying and tried to attack her, but the rage provoked her to transform into the full dragon appearance and escaped.

For hundreds of years she tried to find a way to change herself back, but it was Zeref’s magical power when he appeared before her that changed her back.

But it wasn’t without consequences, since she had long since become a full dragon and thus she couldn’t live as a human entirely, not able to taste food or even sleep.

Realizing that the child in her womb was still mostly human (or entirely, it’s not clear), she thought to enchant herself onto the child and gain a truly human body, but it was a failure.

Eileen then abandoned her daughter, regarding her as useless to aiding in the ambition she had to become human.

Erza thanks her for giving birth to her, though Eileen still thinks she needs no gratitude from refuse that she gave up on.

The chapter ends as Erza notes that it was her being tossed aside by her so called mother that allowed her to meet her true family, which is what she is truly grateful for.
