Boku no Hero Academia 60

Everyone’s anxious about the final exams, especially Kaminari and Ashido, the two lowest ranked in the class for grades. Deku encourages them, saying that everyone wants to go to the lodge together. Momo, top of the class, offers to tutor people and somewhat relishes in the attention she gets in spite of supposedly being very upstanding.

The major thing that worries everyone is the practical test, the general knowledge portion something that’s comparably easier with just having to study for it. But preparing for something they don’t know the specifics of is more intimidating.

Class B’s Monoma, who can temporarily steal Quirks, taunts Class A in the cafeteria, saying they just stir up trouble, but Kendou the class president says that she has an idea of what the practical test might be, a combat simulation like the entrance exam. She asked an upperclassman, Monoma thinking they shouldn’t have given away such valuable info, but Kendou pulls him away, saying they don’t have any grudge against Class A.

Back in class, everyone thinks that this might make it easier by comparison to studying for the general knowledge portion, which some characters are less capable at and need help.

Bakugou says that Deku needs to learn to control his Quirk and by the end of this exam, they’ll have an idea of who’s better, since Deku still overshadowed the Explosion Quirk user in the Sports Festival.

The class studies hard as the practical exam begins. The principal reveals that they’re changing it from what they heard about, as we flashback to a discussion of the faculty as to the potential for more Villains fighting against Heroes. This makes them think they need to do more than just simulations against robots, but the legal risks are still there, even though Aizawa says they can ignore that.

The general conclusion is that they need to be more hands on and focus on real one on one battles overall.

Aizawa explains that they decided the pairs ahead of time and who they’ll fight out of the 8 teachers there. Todoroki is with Momo against Aizawa, while Bakugou is paired up with Deku against All Might

The chapter ends with this revelation, All Might saying that he’s ready to fight them.

Seven Deadly Sins 141

Ban and Zhivago are still a bit surprised at having met each other, but Jericho is especially emotional at their reunion, even though she doesn’t completely understand it.

Zhivago wonders if Jericho is Ban’s lover, but he says she’s more like his sister, who died when she was four.

The werefox is more confused at Ban seeming like he hasn’t aged in years, Ban explaining that he’s immortal from drinking of the Fountain of Youth that Zhivago told him about. He also notes that the guardian is dead and he wants to bring her back to life.

Back at the Fairy King’s Forest, the animals are agitated at some evil presence coming towards the Fountain of Youth.

Zhivago thinks about the rumors of reviving the dead, telling Ban about how he’d heard some, such as a deceased wife coming back to her house and strangling her husband or an order of knights marching around even though they were reported dead. He’s not sure how true they are, but Ban thanks him anyway.

Zhivago notes that Ban reviving his lover seems pointless if he can’t die anyway, but Ban notes that he has to try. The werefox is happy that Ban has found something to value besides himself and opened up to people.

But the Sin of Greed thinks that he’s still pretty bad with most people, telling Jericho that she’s probably the first human he hasn’t hated from the start, making her blush in thinking that he likes her, which he denies.

Zhivago notes there’s something more which is bothering his son, Ban opening up about how he tried to kill his best friend, thinking his lover was more important. Zhivago says that he had a similar situation with Therion, his son, and abandoning Ban to save him, but Ban thinks it’s worse for him having tried to kill Meliodas. But what’s worse is how Meliodas forgave him and Ban doesn’t know how to respond.

Ban’s mentor says that he should be honest with his feelings, and be grateful that he has such a good friend. He leaves him with these words, passing away next to Ban.

The scene shifts to a family shocked that the father, thought dead and buried, walks again. It seems that one of the Ten Commandments has the power to bring back souls from the dead and give life to their bodies so they can gain revenge, making them revenants in a way.

The chapter ends as we see that one of the souls she brought back was Elaine’s, floating back into her body and the fairy awakening, which shocks Gerharde.

World Trigger 116

Jin replies to Osamu’s request by suggesting that it might be against the rules, but the captain retorts that he’s checked and it’s permissible to add in new members during Rank Wars and the maximum number of combatants in any team overall is 4, so adding Jin isn’t out of the question.

Osamu notes that he knew Jin would’ve seen this coming with his Foresight Side Effect, so he just thought it’d be best to be upfront.

Jin asks why he decided this, Osamu bringing up their loss in the recent Rank War. He realizes that there’s only so much time before they decide the next away team for the Neighborhood expedition, so they have to close the point gap in the few matches they have left.

But Jin wonders why they’re rushing, since they’re such a new team and few teams get to A rank this quick. He observes how Osamu and Chika have both improved and they should take their time and try to go at their own pace to get better so they will be capable of being chosen for the away team.

Osamu responds that they have to rush, since Yuma is quickly running out of time. He doesn’t know when, but he thinks sooner would be preferable to later in regards to Yuma’s real body eventually dying inside the Trion body the Black Trigger created for him.

Jin rejects Osamu’s offer, saying he has something he must do and the Rank Wars would interfere with it.

Osamu says he might’ve been too forward, but Jin says he doesn’t need to blame himself for Replica getting taken away. Osamu understands that Replica did it for Yuma’s sake, but Jin explains about his plans during the Neighbor invasion. He had the chance to get Chika far away, but instead he used her as bait to draw in the Neighbors so there’d be fewer losses in the other areas.

He feels responsible for Replica getting captured and Osamu almost dying in accomplishing the outcome where Chika isn’t captured, saying Osamu doesn’t have any need to feel guilty.

But Jin does say that he will help Osamu and the others once he’s finished his task. He comments that there is someone Osamu may be able to recruit instead of him, but he can’t say for now. Jin compliments Osamu’s use of tactics to overcome his own weakness which he admits from the start.

As Osamu leaves, he tells Jin that even though he nearly died, what Jin did for him was worth that, Jin accepting that, since he likely saw it coming with Foresight.

Back at Tamakoma, Osamu tells Yuma and Chika that they didn’t completely fail and that other teams have used a strategy to time out Ninomiya and Kageura squads instead of fighting them directly, so they still have a chance to reach A Rank.

Their focus now is to close the gap while the upper rank squads get occasional points from each other, the major method being to increase their combat capability. Osamu wonders who is better suited than Jin, the only person coming to mind for me being Tsukihiko, the other S rank person that’s not attached to a team.

The chapter ends as Kazama comments to Jin about how Osamu is both foolish and perceptive to have tried to recruit Jin, the two entering a meeting with the Border Executives and high ranking Border agents, apparently to discuss a defense plan.

World Trigger is off next week.

Magi 280

It’s 11 days after the war and Kouen is being brought out for his public execution. He is presented as the one who killed Hakutoku and Hakuryuu’s brothers (which we know is a lie) and put himself up as a false emperor (which is only partially false), to be beheaded for these crimes against the empire.

They speak about the Kou Empire’s ambitions to conquer other countries and how Kouen represents this, so his death will serve as a new beginning for the Empire, even saying that they will work together with Sinbad’s Seven Seas Alliance.

Some of Alibaba’s supporters wonder why Kouen does this, thinking he needs something of a scapegoat for this war to end. Orba is put off by Hakuryuu’s wooden left arm, not unlike his own, which is a hook hand, a similar trait they share.

But it seems as if Hakuryuu actually got his arm back fully, not even using the prosthetic anymore.

As Hakuryuu begins to signal the execution to commence, we flashback to him talking to Kouen.

Kouen asks for Phenex, using a technique that sacrifices his own arm and legs to grant Hakuryuu his own in a last sort of gift to his stepbrother.

Hakuryuu remembers how Kouen encouraged him, but how he also sought vengeance against him and Gyokuen, going through with the beheading as we are told the casualties of the war.

The numbers are rather low, only about 12000 on Kouen’s side and 23000 on Hakuryuu’s side, which is impressive, considering the scale of the battle. We’re also told that the two generals of Hakutoku died after their assimilation with their Household Vessels, while Koumei and Kouha were exiled, Kouen’s Household imprisoned.

Sinbad congratulates Hakuryuu, saying that he will govern the conquered countries of Kou for now, which implies that he’s gotten Kou Empire under his influence now with the alliance they forged. But he says he has a goal to erase all nations and borders from the world, and that Hakuryuu should help him.

Hakuryuu is thinking to himself about all the sacrifices he made, the chapter ending as Morgiana appears to talk to him about something.

One Piece 801

We see CP0 talking to their superiors about how all the paraphernalia in the underground port has been stolen, suspecting the Revolutionaries. The person that’s on the Den Den Mushi appears to be Rob Lucci, formerly of CP9.

The people of Dressrosa, having suppressed their suffering for so long, now rejoice as King Riku is returned to the throne. The Tontatta reveal themselves to the populace at large, living alongside them. A statue in tribute of Luffy’s accomplishments is also being erected as everyone works towards improvement, King Riku thinking that since Reverie is coming up soon, he needs to prepare as well.

On the ship escorting Doflamingo to prison, Fujitora tells Sengoku that he intends to continue his search for Luffy and Law, not wanting to apologize to Sakazuki.

Meanwhile, Joker is talking to Tsuru, saying that they should’ve helped him take out the pirates, especially since he had such influence in the underworld.

Tsuru notes that he’s just talking possibilities, the reality being that he lost. But Doflamingo, in response to Tsuru’s question of what will happen to the pirate world, says that the real issue is who stands at the top of the food chain, now that they’ve been released from Doflamingo’s influence with SMILE and the like.

The clash of powers, including the Yonkou, Shichibukai, the Worst Generation, the Marines and the Revolutionary Army, will shake this world unlike any conflict before. The empty throne that Gol D. Roger left behind could be taken by one of his successors, but Whitebeard left it open as well with his death.

There’s a group chasing after Doflamingo’s convoy, not even seeming to care that they’re going up against some of the strongest in the Marines.

Meanwhile, Luffy’s group is heading to Zou on Barto’s ship, which has a Luffy depiction at its bow, looking very embarrassing to Usopp and the others.

Everyone involved with Luffy, including Bellamy, took a tiny scrap of the Vivre card so they can know where their captain is at any time.

Sanji’s group’s status is unknown, though they’re confident they can make it to Zou with Nami’s help.

We also are shown how everyone’s bounty went up, even by a little bit. Luffy’s is at 500 million, Usopp’s shooting up to 200 million, putting him alongside Zoro and Sanji as some of the highest. Law’s is also at 500 Million, since he’s likely no longer a Shichibukai in the Marine’s eyes.

There’s something off about Sanji’s poster, though many of the members got new pictures. But Sanji’s reward is only valid if he’s alive, the chapter ending on this reveal.

Bleach 644

Viz’s translation for the device in Nemu is “Compulsory Accelerated Cell Division Organ”. Compared to “forced accelerated cellular breakdown organ”, it suggests that the organ resets the cell division so that Nemu’s cells don’t reach their limit. It’s like the immortal jellyfish that reverts to a polyp stage, but more concentrated with the cells themselves.

Mayuri is walking away from Pernidas, his nerves apparently trying a last ditch effort attack that takes out the Soul Reaper’s legs, leaving him unable to move for a while.

Ikkaku and Yumichika appear, Mayuri complimenting them on staying behind for their captain. He tells them that there are body capsules nearby that house the zombified captains, which he managed to heal, though it seems to imply that Kensei and Rose were truly dead, so he couldn’t revive them compared to Toushirou and Rangiku, who weren’t completely dead when zombified.

They lost a good deal of their lifespan, but they’re ready to fight. Ikkaku and Yumichika thank Mayuri as the capsules close to heal him and Zaraki’s injuries.

But Mayuri is more interested in how Nemu evolved to gain independence as a person, thinking this will place him on the level of Kisuke as a scientist. He falls into slumber, seeing Nemu falling to embrace him in a slight imitation of daughter and father.

Meanwhile, Kisuke’s group leaves Mayuri to his own devices, more concerned about Lille Barro’s attacks on them, only Renji, Rukia, Shunsui, Nanao, Kisuke, Shinji and Hinamori still standing after his sniping assault.

Ex Axis thinks that he’s got this down, the group panicking as their comrades fall one by one in his view. But Shunsui decides to turn around and seek him out, taking one of his attacks.

Suddenly, it seems that Shunsui has activated Katen Kyoukotsu’s ability, speaking a nursery rhyme as he manages to get behind him and slash his weapon, the chapter ending as they face off.

Toriko 340

We start back at Acacia’s rampage in the Farthest Kitchen, the Blue Nitro seemingly unable to stop him as he demands more screams to increase the taste.

It seems like AIR has been killed, ATOM telling NEWS to recover from his wounds, the Blue Nitro warning his friend about the dangers of Acacia, even though he’s not completely recovered.

ATOM flares out his mouth, showing a more intimidating face as he speaks to NEO, who appears over Acacia’s face, a much more disturbed appearance. He tells NEO that Earth will be finished cooking very soon and he can eat that ingredient to satisfy his hunger.

But NEO sends out 7 of the tiny orbs that contain parts of its power, the Blue Nitro shocked as Acacia’s body has disappeared, likely to the Back Channel.

They decide to let him go, since they need NEO to reach his full power for their plan to work.

Jirou appears, one of the Blue Nitro almost starting to fight. But Jirou notes that they could destroy the world with their combat, the Blue Nitro saying it doesn’t matter, since NEO’s revival will signal the end of Earth anyway, though in the meantime until the Solar Eclipse, he may eat everything on the planet.

The next stage of their plan begins after NEO eats GOD and reaches a more complete form.

Jirou asks what they plan to do, having pulled Acacia into their plan 500 years ago, the Blue Nitro saying they will kill NEO.

To be more accurate, they’ll seal it, since Gourmet Cell Demons can’t be fully killed, resurrecting after dying as Food Spirits. But in order to seal him completely, all his cells must manifest, which requires eating a large amount of Acacia’s Full Course to be in his perfect form. Then they’ll kill him, cook him and put his body in a Golden Can, sealing him off from this dimension, the can something that Toriko’s group found as they were traveling to get AIR.

This explanation connects to why the left arm unlocked with Toriko’s group’s Gourmet Demon, since it was AIR that they consumed, and PAIR is the right arm, suggesting that might be the next part they’ve unlocked recently.

Jirou finds it odd they seek to revive it just to kill and seal it, but the Blue Nitro say Jirou doesn’t understand how dangerous NEO is. Acacia’s disciple asks if he knew this, but they say it doesn’t matter, since their overall goal is protecting the planet.

Jirou then says he’ll kill Acacia as he is now, but the Blue Nitro respond that he must eat GOD for their plan to succeed. The Knocking Master says that he’ll kill them if they get in his way, same as they would for him.

As he unlocks his seal, Jirou’s form radically changes, the student of the Gourmet God saying that he used to be called the Rampaging Beast, eating Nitro all the time, referring to them as lizards that he hunted.

The chapter ends as one of NEO’s cells lands in Area 7, Bambina noticing the power it emits.

Fairy Tail 453

Lucy writes in her journal about the situation with Fairy Heart, thinking they have a big motivation to protect it, since it’s Mavis’ body and without her, no one in Fairy Tail would’ve met.

Natsu and Happy come in, Lucy thinking they’re not taking this seriously as they suggest playing some games at her place.

But Natsu then says that Lucy misunderstands his enthusiasm for battle: he doesn’t want to hurt people, he wants to prove he’s the strongest. He thinks this battle is important only because everyone’s lives are on the line, which makes it less enjoyable for him in a way.

Lucy thinks he’s setting himself up for disappointment, but Natsu responds that Igneel told him to think of the future, so Lucy agrees that it’s a good sentiment.

Erza tells Wendy back at the dormitory baths that Crime Sorciere will help them in the fight against Zeref, Charle reminding her that they were responsible for Cait Shelter’s collapse (though I don’t recall exactly where that connection is except that some of the members were in the Oracion Seis that sought Nirvana, which was related to Cait Shelter’s leader, a spirit from the tribe that created the magic artifact).

Erza thinks that she’s responsible for bringing Wendy and Charle into this all and vows to protect them, Wendy also saying as much, Erza proud of her, one of the youngest members of the guild, a shining beacon of hope to her.

Meanwhile, Gray tells Juvia as they stand at a bridge that he’ll answer her feelings after this battle, thinking to himself that he has an ace like Natsu to fight END.

Mavis appears to Makarov and others who are trying to keep tabs on where the enemy might appear from, saying that everyone’s morale is good. Makarov notes that they’re likely covering their fear by spending time with friends, but that it’s a good way to channel their emotions, the bonds what give them their strength to fight.

Suddenly, the detector sees that there’s a mass of enemy ships coming towards them, 50 in number.

Everyone prepares for battle as the chapter ends with us seeing Azir at the head of the vanguard, ready to eliminate his enemies.
