Disclaimer: Scanlations and official sources both have a place in the community, but buy official manga volumes to support the author. If you can, also subscribe to Crunchyroll and/or Shonen Jump through Viz Media to read chapters nearly simultaneous with Japan. Most of the series covered can be found through legal means, so please encourage the industry that gives us what we love

World Trigger took a break this month, the anime’s second season ending this week and the third slated for Fall 2021

Phantom Seer unfortunately concluded at 30 chapters, seems like it wasn’t doing well in the reader surveys, even though the manga volumes were selling well enough to supposedly get reprints, very bad turn of events.

And Build King ended even earlier at 20 chapters, just not doing very well in the rankings. There will be a bonus chapter in the volume, but it doesn't appear to be something that will be in the vault itself, so a true ending will be much later when the volumes come out (digital only, probably)

And there are 2 new series this month, Blue Box by Kouji Miura. This is a romance-sports series, our male lead Taiki Inomata in love with his senior, Chinatsu Kano. After he opens up about how she inspired him to do his best when she continued practicing even after her team failed to get to nationals, he learns the next day that she’s staying at his house, her family going abroad for work, since his mother was friends with her mother.

The other is Candy Flurry, written by Takegushi Ippon and drawn by Santa Mitarashi. 5 years after Tokyo was destroyed by giant lollipops, everyone is still dealing with the aftermath in the form of Sweets Users, people able to conjure up sweets and many wreaking havoc and committing crimes. Our lead, Tsumugi, is a lollipop user herself, but remembers another one that caused the devastation. After learning that Misaki, a member of Recette, the police that deal with Sweets User crimes, is in her class, he saves her from another Sweets User she fought before. And Tsumugi decides to help him, since he has a strong sense of duty in spite of not liking sweets, though she now has to convince him she isn’t the lollipop user from 5 years ago

4 Knights of the Apocalypse 8-12

Nasiens is experimenting on people, seemingly for some purpose related to the giant nun, alluded to be his sister, not evil so much as morally grey or even amoral in his perspective. Percival’s reactions impress him and after a struggle, the potion he’s been making lands in his hands and Percival drinks it, falling unconscious again

Percival is seemingly pained for a bit, but Nasiens concludes it’s safe, ingesting the poison himself. After we learn that there was a human apothecary called Ordo who took in a giant girl (the same giant nun?) and also a foundling human child, Nasiens. Ordo left, Nasiens trying to revive the gorge. He does so, using his magic to spread it, but it seems like the fairy he had captured and got free is involved with Ordo, somehow still alive and possibly mutated.

The monstrous Ordo appears after Sin explains that the poison is seeped even into the earth, so Dolores’ prayers to the earth won’t work. Percival, Nasiens and even Dolores fight back, but the giantess is burned by the poison breath. And Percival vows to help Nasiens save his grandpa.

After the tiny fairy in black is killed by someone shooting an arrow into its head, a new knight, much like Ironside and Pelgas appears, Talisker, the Amber Knight. Ordo attacks, but seems to freeze at recognizing Nasiens. And Talisker unleashes a massive hailstorm, which Percival stops with brute force. As Percival faints, it seems like his power awakens again, Sin noticing this.

Percival’s power is as adaptive as ever, able to turn Talisker’s attacks back and slam him to the ground with a massive hand formed from that same mysterious energy force. Talisker explains that Ordo helping non humans was seen as a crime and he punished him accordingly, claiming Arthur wants a kingdom where humans are never threatened by other races. Percival fights back, even taking the massive lightning strike Talisker sends at him with the Calamity power to control weather and forming a sword under Sin’s suggestion to imagine a one shot attack (because the magic is based on shaping the abstract into reality?), cutting through the Calamity Bird attack with ease

Build King 19-20 (FINAL)

As Tonkachi faces his opponent with Gold Vigor, said to be able to initiate evolution, we also learn that Renga has Black Vigor, said to be very dangerous as well, though not explained as to its abilities yet.

The final chapter explains many things: Tonkachi and Renga unlocked their Gold and Black Vigors, which basically have opposing powers of generation and destruction when they entered Two By Four, an ancient Small Build King of immense power. It arrives to help them fight Haka in the Valley Styx and the chapter concludes by telling us the rest will be released in the graphic novel (not even a special release in the magazine?)

Dr. Stone 191-194

Joel manages to activate the Medusa after everyone else is seriously injured and wounded in the struggle to get it, his watch transmitting the mysterious Why Man’s signal that envelops the entire earth in the Medusa wave

As the wave is heading towards South America, Xeno and Senkuu’s groups both struggle to get the advantage with the limited revival fluid, Senkuu placing a bottle on the sound cannon so that it’ll eventually be released and revive those in the area. Suika is trusted to get to the tower so she can be revived, Senkuu leaving Xeno with the promise they’ll meet again eventually.

As the petrification wave continues towards everyone, Stanley almost moves to shoot the revival fluid, but hesitates, wanting to guarantee Xeno’s safety instead of taking the risk of missing or being off and losing the revival fluid instead. Senkuu tells Xeno that he doesn’t want to rule, so Xeno’s group is greedier than they claim to be. A timeskip begins, Chalk and Sagara the only non humans around that we’re aware of

Suika breaks free after some amount of time, the noise that Senkuu predicted eventually happening (a jaguar yowling combined with a later thunderclap). But she finds there isn’t any more revival fluid, despairing for a time. However, she’s inspired by what she remembers about Senkuu, Suika resolving to find the revival fluid, first getting food, clothes and shelter before she starts off to find the others’ statues.

My Hero Academia 308-310

Deku clashes with Muscular, the various powers of One For All’s previous users trained better and letting him finish the Villain off, Yoh’s Vibration Quirk weakening the muscle fibers used as armor.

Deku takes Muscular to the police and heads off, continuing his rounds to keep the city safe, Hawks and All Might agreeing with his strategy to be proactive and deal with All For One’s aftereffects. We flashback to see that the injuries have gotten less because of Deku’s training and his mom is told the truth about One For All’s true nature. Deku vows to stop Shigaraki and All For One, convincing his mom that he’ll return, grateful that she encouraged him in her own way. The top 3 Heroes and Deku, along with All Might as support behind the scenes, head out.

We see Deku helping more and then considering how he needs to master more of One For All’s powers. In a flashback to his time in the mindscape, it’s revealed that the earliest holders of One For All were from a time when All For One had great power and they’re skeptical about Deku’s goal to save Shigaraki. But the 1st holder says they should trust him, the others agreeing that things will develop faster from now on.

Fire Force 260-263

Karim defeats Rekka, admitting that while he doesn’t accept his dream of despair, that they were true friends until the end, clashing head on about their hopes for the future when they were younger and now coming to blows again in the Cataclysm.

Vulcan opens up to Arthur about how he met Yu, a young orphan that wanted to be an engineer and hates how he failed him in losing to Giovanni. While Licht and Joker start to think it doesn’t matter if the common people stop despairing, we see Sumire say that strong people despairing is what keeps the disaster continuing. Before Arthur concludes the game, he says he must deal with Dragon, saying that Excalibur can help Vulcan find Yu.

Indeed, the sword directs Vulcan and Arthur to Yu, being parasitized by Giovanni. But Arthur, with increased precision, cuts Giovanni out of Yu’s brain like a gamma knife, saving him. And Dragon, having returned to earth, demands that Arthur come to challenge him to a real fight.

Arthur and Dragon clash, though it seems the power is too great, the Knight King barely grazing the immensely tough skin. But when the fight goes into the clouds, Arthur takes the lightning and empowers his Violet Slash to cut deeper

One Piece 1009-1011

While the Akazaya take down the revived Orochi, we see Big Mom and Kaidou unleash attacks, Luffy confronting Kaidou, while the others combine efforts to knock Big Mom off the Skull Dome into the sea, keeping Zeus from helping her

Prometheus manages to save Big Mom, while Kaidou takes down Zoro and Law even when they both use their strongest attacks on the Emperor. But Luffy, having discerned that Kaidou can infuse objects with Supreme King Haki, he uses the Ryuou techniques he learned and turns the tables, insisting he’ll handle this.

While Big Mom utilizes a new Homie with Hera, blasting Kid and Killer down where they come up against Hawkins, who Killer holds off himself, Law teleports everyone but Luffy and Kaidou away. Usopp, Nami and Tama are still running from Page One, but when Big Mom finds Tama and learns Okobore Town was destroyed by Kaidou’s forces, she takes down Page One, Ulti seeing this

Black Clover 288-291

Asta utilizes his new Devil Union form (still with the time limit) to fight Lilith and Naamah, dealing a major blow after using his third sword to negate their magic that lets them avoid his blows with the first blade.

Lilith and Naamah fuse after one of them was sliced in half, combining their powers to become even stronger. But as they launch an attack down on the kingdom, Asta makes Demon Slayer massive and, calling back to earlier fights, knocks the giant orb back as Magna and Zora appear from the shadows elsewhere

Asta utilizes his swords to push Lilith and Naamah back, but they finally recognize the fear, which Liebe even points out to them mockingly with how used they were to being powerful. As they unleash one last attack, the Devil Union breaks.

After Lilith and Naamah disintegrate, we learn Asta can’t use Devil Union or even Black Mode for a half hour, meaning Nacht has to think of another way to take down the Dark Triad and then address Morris opening the gates faster. Magna and Zora appear to help Jack against Dante. But instead of Zora assisting, Magna says he’ll fight Dante himself, using a new spell that puts them on equal footing by splitting the magic power and instead leaving it to a punch out brawl.
