Seven Deadly Sins 71

Gowther moves to leave from the Nightmare Terror, saying Dreyfus will be trapped, but something appears behind him.

Outside the Nightmare Terror, everyone else sees that Dreyfus and Gowther are frozen after Gowther touched Dreyfus’ head and Dreyfus stabbed Gowther, meaning after a certain point, everything was in Dreyfus’ head. Gowther falls over, Dreyfus revealing he managed to get out of Nightmare Terror and moves to kill Gowther.

But he collapses onto one knee, having taken more damage than he thought. Gilthunder takes him away, Helbram the only one left to fight, which Guila and Hauser try to see as an advantage. Helbram doesn’t think so, but Hauser insists there’s a chance.

Helbram says that now he can go all out, since everyone is out of range. He uses a spell summoning a black cloud, Hauser realizing it’s a Death spell as he coughs up blood. Diane smashes Helbram, saying she’ll save everyone even if it kills her. Hauser says she should try to think about her own safety sometimes.

As expected, though. Helbram isn’t defeated so easily, especially since Diane didn’t use Gideon, likely knocked away earlier in the fight after Dreyfus attacked her.  Helbram uses the Ice power from before, prepared to kill Diane, but King destroys the giant icicles as he appears to fight Helbram as the chapter ends.

Magi 219

The Orthodoxy’s airships move to attack, but one of Solomon’s followers smashes it with a magic spell. Other shows off their immense powers, with varying elements, while Solomon takes out three with a single attack, showing he’s definitely the strongest.

Their enemies are stunned, the leader explaining that these are people gifted with a great quantity of power from Ill Ilah without using the tower as a medium. But they also say it’s dangerous to keep using that power without the tower as a way to regulate it.

Sheba sees Momo is in danger, protecting it with her Borg. They fire another attack, Solomon hearing Sheba’s plea to save Momo and redirecting the attack back at the ship. He thanks Ugo for developing the basics of magic theory, explaining it as different powers flowing on different paths in a sort of scientific principle. But Ugo says only Solomon had the talent to make his theories a reality, so he’s just as important.

The ships all try to attack at once, but Solomon diverts the attack back at them, using the force to throw them into the air. And then he sends them crashing to the ground with immense gravity.

Sheba is amazed at his power, seeing it like that of a god, able to manipulate the very fabric of reality.

The group heads to take out the flagship, saying that part of their mission as wielders of the Divine Staves is preventing the mind control and dominance over the non human species.

The flagship commander wonders why these two would go against them, Ugo being seen as the greatest magic theorist since the beginning of the Orthodoxy and Solomon, revealed to be the son of David, the leader of the magicians and head of the Council of Elders. The chapter ends on this revelation, leaving more speculation.

World Trigger 53

Konami activates her Trigger, changing into the Trion body and ready to battle.

The humanoid Neighbors are amazed at Chika’s power level, comparing it to a Black Trigger

The leader tells them to scatter the Border soldiers and support the Rabits while a select few soldiers go after Chika to capture her.

Chika fires at the other Rabits, who manage to dodge as Osamu stops one of them with his Raygust. But the other continues to rush at Chika, who’s saved by Reiji, who reminds her of the basic rules of sniping, particularly keeping yourself hidden and not fighting when you’ve been discovered

Reiji then proceeds to pummel the Rabit with a blunt fist Trigger, Konami following up with a blitz assault. The other Rabit fires a beam, but Karasuma summons a shield to defend against it.

The group confirms the basic information: people captured turn into a cube. The researchers back at HQ have found it’s virtually indestructible, so there’s no issue of hurting them in battle.

Tamakoma squad starts to fight, but Osamu remembers the Trion soldiers that open gates and the chapter ends as the humanoid Neighbors appear from the portals.

Naruto 670

Naruto awakens, wondering if he died. A mysterious person asks him about his views of death, thinking they’re different from someone of his era. He’s impressed that Naruto so easily adjusted to the possibility of him dying, Naruto asking who he is. The figure thinks he could tell him, but he’s worried it might affect his decision in some way. He reveals he is the Sage of the Six Paths, Hagoromo (I think this is his surname, I forget his first name offhand)

Naruto is confused, Hagoromo expecting this, since he has relative precognition. He says Naruto isn’t dead, but he should look inwardly to discern himself better. Naruto just asks him to get to the point, but Hagoromo says that he would have difficulty adjusting to the new era and its norms, speech patterns, etc. Naruto is still frustrated, Hagoromo responding that words are only useful if they are fully connected and understand each other.

He tries to simplify his speech, laughing that Naruto sees him like an alien, but Naruto is still bewildered. The shift in speech startled him, Hagoromo’s dialect devolving to something more informal than before, Naruto saying that he should be a bit more complex than that, Hagoromo adjusting.

Now that the two understand each other, Naruto tries to ask if Hagoromo knows a way out of what was referred to as his inner world, Hagoromo saying he is here to simply see how the Ninja Teachings have advanced. Now that Naruto understands he’s the Sage of the Six Paths, he’s amazed, since he founded ninjutsu as we know it. Hagoromo says he shouldn’t confuse Ninshuu (Ninja Teaching) with Ninjutsu (Ninja Arts) which were used to wage war. He reflects that Naruto is much like his son, Ashura.

Naruto simply wants to get out, but Hagoromo says he can’t do anything about that, saying he should leave it to those outside. Hagoromo can only tell Naruto things, starting to explain about his mother and his own children.

Ootsutsuki Kaguya came from a far off place (the moon, maybe?) eating of the Chakra Fruit and becoming more powerful than anyone had ever been. She gave birth to two children, one of which was Hagoromo. They sealed the Ten Tails, and Hagoromo had two children of his own, Indra and Ashura.

Indra was the superior child, Ashura like Naruto, less skillful. Naruto is a bit disappointed, since Ashura’s father was the Sage of Six Paths, but Hagoromo reminds him that even if both parents are strong and skilled, it doesn’t always reflect on the child’s strength or skill at all.

Indra fought purely with his own power, his amazing eyes and treated his power as superior to others, while Ashura had to cooperate with others and put in a lot of effort himself. The power they had was eventually the same, Ashura teaching his father that with the help of others and their bonds, they could gain great power. So Hagoromo split the Ten Tails up and named each part. He named Ashura the leader of Ninshuu, hoping Indra would join him, but he didn’t, starting a huge war.

And their deaths only destroyed their bodies, their chakra continuing on through generations. The chapter ends as Hagoromo says Naruto has inherited Ashura’s chakra, implying Sasuke has inherited Indra’s.

One Piece 742

Kyros reaches his 3000th win, King Riku having infiltrated the colosseum as he did recently. He tells Kyros he must leave this place and reclaim his humanity, since he wants to entrust him with something.  He says he should try to protect as many people as he can as a sort of repentance for his crimes.

One year later, Kyros is the head of the Riku Royal Army, women swooning over him. Scarlet doesn’t trust him, thinking he’s still a murderer and that her father was a fool to give him such a position. Viola insists he’s a good person, already having her Devil Fruit when she was 10 years ago.

Scarlet is kidnapped by pirates, Kyros saving her and Scarlet forgiving him. They bond and she says she must be with him. The king creates a false revelation that Scarlet has died from an illness and formally renounces her royalty. Scarlet and Kyros have Rebecca and Kyros vows to protect her all his life.

We shift to the incident where Doflamingo forced Riku to start burning the city to the ground, Kyros going to stop it from spreading further. He meets with Doflamingo, who offers him a position in his army, saying that the whole city will soon be under his control. Kyros slices off one of his legs, attacking Doflamingo.

But Sugar turns him into a toy and events proceed to Kyros meeting the king who had forgotten him, and protecting Scarlet and Rebecca. Scarlet is shot, Kyros realizing what Sugar did to him, removing his memories, meaning Scarlet forgot the promise they made to meet at the Red Flower Fields if things got too dangerous. Kyros is anguished that his wife doesn’t remember her and that he can’t even feel her body with his toy arms.

We flash back to the present, Gladius and his group moving to find the Straw Hats. Kyros thinks it might be better to ambush Doflamingo now, if the others haven’t succeeded at their task.

Back at the colosseum, Burgess’ attacks are so powerful they threaten to break the entire ring apart. Diamante continues to mock Rebecca, saying he was the one who killed her mother, Bartolomeo blocking his attacks.

Franky’s been beaten to near unconsciousness at the Toy House, leaving everything to Usopp. Trebol is told to bring Sugar to the Royal Palace, but responds that there’s no need to worry, since Usopp is nearly dead. Sugar puts the Tatababasco Grape in his mouth, still thinking it’s poison. Usopp makes a bizarre face, shocking Sugar unconscious as the chapter ends.

Toriko 271

Chichi isn’t exactly clear on exactly when it was he met Ichiryuu, something like 500 years ago, before which he had been in hibernation for tens of thousands of years.

He had been pretending to be in cryptobiosis, waiting for them to find him, but they left. He’s glad they managed to make it. Toriko explains they were focused on finishing Ichiryuu’s Full Course.

The Nitro’s frustrated that they didn’t even bring cakes, Komatsu apologizing. But Chichi notices the scent of a female, demanding Komatsu give him the clothes or he won’t talk any further. He relishes in the scent of Nono, feeling refreshed.

Chichi was told about the group by Ichiryuu and, since they’re going to the Gourmet World, he wanted to give them a special ingredient. The floor lowers and he directs them to an apple, which creates a reaction in them that manifests their Intimidation, which Chichi calls an Appetite Devil. He stops them, saying Toriko’s group is still wet behind the ears to not be able to control them.

Komatsu is amazed at the ingredient, demanding to know what it is. Chichi reveals it’s one of Acacia’s Full Course items, shocking everyone. But that turns out to be a lie: it’s a normal apple; just a bit of one of the Full Course’s ingredients’ scents is stained on it. In Gourmet World, many ingredients will be like this. Toriko is skeptical, but Chichi notes he was probably staying in safe zones during the day, compared to the night that was implied to be dangouers by Jirou and Setsuno.

Chichi offers to serve the apple to send them off, but Komatsu says they should eat more than that. The only other thing Chichi promised Ichiryuu was to eat the apple, but the others want to know more, bribing Chichi with the promise of more clothes with girls’ scents on them: Toriko with Rin’s pajamas and Coco with the many women he does fortunetelling for.

The group eats a feast, Chichi warning them that at Night, everything is more dangerous in Gourmet World. The chapter ends as something awakens near the house, Chichi noticing.

Bleach 574

Some soldiers notice the weird structure Gremmy made and sense the reiatsu, being from Kenpachi’s division, cheering him on. Kenpachi isn’t that enthused, Gremmy saying it’s okay, since they imagine the battle’s already over. He’s healed his wound, simply imagining it was healed. Kenpachi’s grunts wonder why they didn’t sense him before.

Gremmy says that even if Kenpachi thinks this ability is nonsense, he’ll defeat him without even lifting a finger. He summons what appears to be lava, Kenpachi slashing through it. He tells Yachiru to move, Gremmy reminding him that her bones are cookies.

Kenpachi ignores this, attacking again. Gremmy surrounds him with water and then opens up a crevice, dropping him in there. He surrounds him with water again, planning to slowly drown and crush him to death.

But suddenly, most of the structure explodes, Kenpachi leaping at Gremmy again to attack, the chapter ending as he reveals Yachiru’s bones are back to normal, saying he’s focused too much on him to worry about her.  This implies that the imagination ability can be neutralized if the focus is on one person: maybe Yachiru will support Kenpachi by distracting Gremmy

Not sure how I feel about this chapter, but if anything, we’re probably meant to consider the extent of Gremmy’s powers and how that’s going to make this battle tougher.

Fairy Tail 377-378

Fairy Tail has 2 chapters this week, because of how fast Mashima works

Wendy comments on the power she’s gained, the air fully under the control. She disappears, moving with incredible speed behind Ezel, striking him with impressive force. He tries to swat at her, but she dodges, attacking again from another angle.

Charle reminds her of Face’s imminent activation, Wendy unleashing her secret technique to finish things: Sky Drill. But Ezel unleashes another sword, Demon Blade: Crescent Moon, slashing the attack and negating it. Wendy persists, surrounding Ezel with air, keeping him at bay as she amasses more power, attacking Face itself, shattering it into pieces and sending Ezel crashing through it, defeating him as well.

But the countdown hasn’t stopped, even though Face itself is destroyed. Wendy tries to move, but her body can’t keep up, collapsing after the exertion. The chapter ends as the Cube shakes, Franmalth noting that they were too late and Face will soon activate.

The next chapter starts with this tension established again, Franmalth saying there’s less than 3 minutes left before Face activates.

Gray’s fight with Keith isn’t going well, Mira not faring good either, and Lisanna is attacked by the bunny assistant that was studying Minerva and Mirajane while they were being transformed. And Erza’s fight with Kyouka is at a standstill, the demons confident that their plan will succeed.

Wendy is despairing, unable to do anything. But Charle says that if they can convert the energy Face is absorbing into another form besides Eternano, the fuel for the weapon, then it will self destruct. Wendy asks how she knows this, Charle reminding us of her prophetic abilities. She moves to change the magic circle, altering the magic characters. She pauses, saying she can’t see any further, explaining that if she does this, they’ll probably both die.

Charle tells Wendy to leave her so she can die alone, not sacrificing both of them, but Wendy says she can’t do that. She knows she barely has enough energy to crawl, let alone fly, so she insists she’ll stay here with Charle to the end, embracing her. The two remember all the fun times they had together, the arguments, everything.

They press the button, a massive explosion resulting. But the chapter ends as Doranbolt has teleported them away in the nick of time, amazed they managed to destroy Face.

Apparently Toriko’s off this week along with One Piece

Seven Deadly Sins 70

The others don’t recognize Gowther, Guila seeing the tattoo and realizing he’s the Sin of Lust. Helbram and Hauser can’t believe it, since he doesn’t look anything like the wanted poster.

Gowther thanks Guila for protecting Diane, explaining that he figured out what was going on through looking at hers and Dreyfus’ memories. He challenges Dreyfus, who moves to defeat him. He stabs through Gowther, causing an explosion, leaving a huge hole in Gowther’s chest. He says that Gowther’s power, manipulating memories, is the most dangerous, so one should soundly defeat the user before they can utilize it.

But Gowther again shocks his opponent, moving while gravely injured and knocking Dreyfus into the air.

Suddenly, we’ve flashed back to years before, when Dreyfus and Hendricksen were younger. The two talk about the king saying he can prevent the Holy War, since his power, Vision, allows him to see the future. They’re concerned whether Holy Knights would even be needed, but Dreyfus says they’ll still protect the kingdom from monsters and the like.

Some children playing speak about starting the Holy War if they must, shocking Dreyfus. Back at home, Griamor speaks about how he wants to be a Holy Knight as well, making his father happy. He says that people claim Dreyfus is weaker than Zaratras, Gil’s father, but Dreyfus says he’s not sure. His wife, Anna, retorts that she’s stronger, again confusing Dreyfus.

Drinking with Meliodas, he compliments Zaratras’ strength, saying few people can match him in skill, though he thinks Dreyfus is better with the sword. He thinks the only thing Dreyfus lacks is ambition and experience, Dreyfus thinking to himself that one day he’ll become the Great Holy Knight. But Meliodas says he’s too late, Zaratras appearing in his form stabbed through with multiple swords, agonizing Dreyfus’s mind with the trauma.

The chapter ends as Gowther stares as Dreyfus, weeping in the form of a child, noting how weak the minds of humans are.

Magi 218

Sheba has befriended the manticore child, dubbing it Momo. Solomon explains that the Manticores told him the continent broke off recently, so someone’s trying to stop them from moving forward; so one of his followers notes that they should leave a certain thing with them and move on ahead of the others that are following them.

Sheba discovers that Momo’s father died through the tower making them eat each other in a frenzy. She feels guilty, but thinks she wasn’t the only one utilizing the tower for that purpose. But she ultimately says that she’s responsible, even if indirectly, since she knew that she was manipulating them against their will. The next day, she almost tells Momo about this, but relents, feeling bad for not doing so. She tells Solomon this and he comments that since she’s considering the feelings of those she regarded as beasts, he likes her now as a person. He also says she’ll be able to apologize to them eventually.

We see that an air fleet is using the mind control magic, forcing the Manticore to fight them as an army. Sheba is stunned, Solomon reminding her that for years, she was doing the same thing, putting herself above them and warping their minds all that time. She recalls this, concluding that Solomon’s group is the truly horrible ones, having saved her instead of killing her for the crimes she committed.

Solomon’s group reveals they were all once like her, doing the same awful things, but they still had goals, they still wanted to improve the world, so they thought they had no right to kill her, since she was in the same situation they were in before.

The chapter ends as the two groups conflict, the Orthodoxy condemning Solomon and people who fell from grace (falling into Depravity?).

World Trigger 52

The human Neighbors move out, since they know that the Earth Triggers don’t all have the ability to escape from the Rabits.  They’ll distract the humans while the Rabits capture the Trigger users.

Kitora tells everyone to run, that the Rabits are targeting the C rank trainees (probably because they don’t know which one has the immense amount of Trion that Chika possesses)

The new Rabit reveals an unexpected power, defeating Kitora and then absorbing her before she can Bail Out.

The other begins to run, but Chika’s frozen in fear. Natsume tries to save her, but is seemingly absorbed as well. Chika remembers everyone protecting her, including her friend that was captured by Neighbors years ago. She then gains the resolve, activating her Trigger to fight and protect her friends instead of being protected all the time. She unleashes a huge blast, saving Natsume and blowing off a third of the Rabit’s body.

The Rabit is still alive, Osamu finishing it off. He reports the situation to Shinoda, who says that they’ve gotten reports from others of similar Rabits appearing. He says that they’re sending the strongest squad to help them.

The chapter ends as we see it’s Konami, Karasuma and Reiji, strategizing based on Konami’s apparent unrivaled strength with her Trigger.

Naruto 669

Gai attacks Madara, seemingly pushing him back. It’s just the first step of his Eight Inner Gates Battle Formation, the second step following up Madara pressed down into a hole in the ground. Gai freezes at the second of five steps, Lee noting that the pain is unimaginable.

We see Madara in a hole much deeper than expected, commenting on the sheer power of the attack that uses air pressure to strike like a cannon. He decides to indulge Gai, since this kind of power is exceedingly rare.

Kakashi explains further to Gaara about the nature of the technique, releasing the limiters on your body’s strength. With all the gates released, one is stronger than even a Kage, but only for a limited time.

Gaara is concerned that Lee might be sad, but Lee says he’s fine with Gai having decided his fate.

Minato then decides they have to support him. He’s analyzed the black substance, figuring that it has a distance at which Madara can’t control it anymore and that Kakashi can teleport them with Kamui. Kakashi says he’s nearly blind in his Sharingan, so he’d have to get rather close, Minato asking Gaara to fly him on his sand. Gaara insists that it’d be too slow, but Minato gives Kakashi some of his kunai.

Lee unleashes 6 of the 8 gates, cursing his lack of power. But Minato assures him he’s still plenty strong to inspire Gai. He gives him one of his kunai and asks Lee to guard Gaara.

Gai unleashes the 5 steps of Night Elephant, freezing Madara in place with the air pressure. He cloaks himself in the black sage material, firing spheres at Gai, which Lee manages to teleport away with Minato’s kunai, which Minato teleports himself to and then moves away with them, implying he’s going to “die” from it.

Kakashi teleports a portion of the barrier around Madara away, Gai making contact with his final attack. Madara manages to withstand it, amazed at the power, as strong as Hashirama was.

The chapter ends as Naruto is revived, Obito having transferred the other half of Kurama into him.

Bleach 573

Kenpachi moves to where Yachiru and Isane are. Isane asks how Unohana is, Kenpachi simply saying she’s dead, confirming what many theorized for a while. He even says he killed her, noting his hatred for her to cover up his guilt he likely still holds. But Isane’s happy, since it means Kenpachi’s truly inherited the title.

The new Quincy is impressed at Kenpachi, but only in so much as they’ve imagined him to be strong.

The ground starts to quake, falling apart and reshaped to make a fitting stage for the Kenpachi to fight the still unnamed Quincy. He reveals he’s the true V, the Visionary, Gremmy Thoumeaux, and that of all the Stern Ritter, he’s the strongest.

Kenpachi simply attacks him, but it doesn’t seem to have any effect. Gremmy says all he did was imagine his body was harder than any steel and the attack was useless. But the attack succeeds, Kenpachi, like Zoro from One Piece, saying that once he realized that, all he had to do was cut steel.

The chapter ends as he says there’s nothing he can’t cut, because he’s the true Kenpachi now.

Fairy Tail 376

Franmalth boasts to Natsu that their magic can’t beat the demons’ curses. And it’s only 10 minutes until Face is activated. Horologium confirms this to Lucy and she says that everything’s up to Wendy now.

Wendy and Charle are looking for Face, finding a bunch of bugs because of the cave’s environment. Suddenly Ezel speaks, thinking Wendy won’t even be a challenge for him. He leaps at her, Wendy dodging. She thinks she has to run away, but decides that since she can’t evade him, she has to fight him directly, utilizing some magic to enhance her power, speed and general resistance, Ezel noting her enchantment specialty. Wendy uses Sky Dragon’s Roar, Ezel unaffected as he pushes through it. But then Wendy uses Sky Dragon’s Talon, kicking him in the face.

But even that doesn’t affect him as he unleashes his magic, based on 5 ancient Japanese swords, starting with Onimaru. He pushes forward with Juzumaru, Wendy unable to keep up as it looks like she’s defeated, Ezel picking her up. He shows her Face, only 5 minutes before it activates, languishing in the future of demons reigning supreme with their curses.

Charle tries to attack him, Ezel starting to eat her. But before he can finish her, Charle reminds Wendy of the air and the Dragon Slayer thinks that if she takes in this air with its high Eternano content, she can get even stronger.

The chapter ends as Wendy blasts Ezel back, Charle noting that she’s finally achieved Dragon Force, meaning that she’s at a new level of power.

Seven Deadly Sins 69

Threader asks Gowther if he believes in fate, Gowther being scientific and insisting on probability. Gowther says they have no reason to fight, Threader saying otherwise, since he believes, along with most every Holy Knight, that the Sins betrayed the king and killed the Great Holy Knight Zaratras. Gowther says he needs to finish Threader off quickly, but Threader unleashes a new ability, Over Power, suddenly grappling him and snapping his neck.

Threader walks away, thinking he’s defeated Gowther. We flash back to his childhood, kidnapped by barbarians. After observing them to learn how to fight, he unlocked his Over Power ability (meaning Make Up was a magic spell, not his unique ability). He was then saved by the king of Liones, who gave him a name and a purpose. This is why he will do whatever the king orders.

Gowther understands this after having looked into Threader’s memories, standing up. This shocks Threader as Gowther resets his neck, explaining that his body is somewhat resistant to such attacks. Gowther says they have the same goals, since the Sins serve the princess, who is trying to help the king, whom Dawn Roar serves.

But Threader responds that it’s different: after their betrayal, the king instituted a new independent order of knights, not unlike what the Sins were in the past. To him, Dawn Roar replaced the Seven Deadly Sins.

Gowther is skeptical, wondering if the king himself said these things. The kingdom is ruled by the two Great Holy Knights, Dreyfus and Hendricksen, which is odd. Threader says it’s because the king is ill, the Great Holy Knights his representatives, but Gowther inquires if he’s proven this by seeing the king directly. Threader sees the error of his thought, moving away, seemingly to meet the king, leaving Gowther alone.

Meanwhile, Guila (Geera was a temporary translation until official rendering through the author) and Hauser are still fighting Dreyfus and the others. Gilthunder attacks Guila, Hauser stopping him.

The combined technique ends, Jericho seemingly defeated, while Helbram managed to use some resistance enchantments to take less damage. But Dreyfus is unscathed from the attack, firing another blast at Guila.

But he misses, Gowther’s arrow revealing his appearance, having saved Guila as the chapter ends.

Magi 217

We see Solomon’s group partying, Sheba the only one not entirely enjoying things. Solomon’s group moves to take the next Divine Staff with a giant dragon construct Ugo designed, powered by Lightning magic.

They explain about the Divine Staves, magical items able to receive a huge amount of magoi from Ill Ilah; Sheba sees calling him by that name blasphemy, of course. There are 72 in all, conveniently the same amount as the Djinn that exist later, and the Orthodox group has most of them. Ill Ilah gave the Divine Staves to humans to create world peace, yet they were used to abuse other races. Ugo is amazed at their complexity, the magic involving immense levels of ceremonial orders.

The group arrives at the Continental Rift, similar to the one in the present world and they’re at an impasse. Solomon decides they should rest before moving forward, greeting a Manticore village, headed by the Manticores Solomon and Sheba met before. The others tell Sheba that Solomon loves to learn about the other cultures and Sheba is amazed that Solomon doesn’t truly understand the tongue of the other species, but uses his gut feeling (probably speaking through the Rukh).

Sheba is still amazed at the complexity, not used to the idea of these primitive “beasts” behaving like humans and creating such a city. Ugo says that they may have behaved horribly in the past, but they understand that they can be equals. But Sheba remembers her indoctrination, treating the non humans as an enemy that must be controlled and seen as a constant threat.

The manticore child from before apologizes, trying to communicate with Sheba. They start to bond over a picture book, Sheba drawing her own depiction of a magician to compare to the manticore’s. He then alters it, suggesting she put the flower he gave her in her hair. It’s a bit too big, but the manticore is happy, the two continuing to draw for a while as the chapter ends.

World Trigger 51

Osamu sees Kitora darting around the new Trion soldier, shooting at it from every angle, her speed astonishing. Natsume and Chika meet up with Osamu, Osamu saying they should evacuate, but Natsume thinks Kitora’s got it. Osamu reminds her that Kitora’s never fought this kind of Trion soldier.

Kitora is strategizing, concluding that gunning it will waste too much Trion, so she has to get in close to attack with her blade. The Trion Soldier suddenly shoots itself into the air, preparing to fire. It shoots into the distance, causing random damage. Kitora tries to attack it, but it quickly counterattacks, slamming her into the ground.

It looks like she’s defeated but she persists, slicing off her own leg to free herself, firing a grapple from her gun, pulling herself directly at the new Rabit, dodging its shot and slicing into its core, finishing it off.

The Neighbor invasion leaders observe that they’re evacuating, sending out smaller Trion soldiers that opens up new portals, even more of the Black Rabit soldiers appearing as the chapter ends on the Neighbor leaders saying they’ll capture everyone.

Naruto 668

The others try to dissuade Guy from opening the final gate, especially Minato. Lee is concerned as well, but Guy says that he and Lee are very much alike, both in their focus on taijutsu and their lofty goals.

Guy moves forward, striking a tenketsu: Madara observes that his chakra’s moving to the death gate.

We see a flashback of Guy with his father, who is proud that his son focuses on taijutsu, able to realize his weaknesses and make them a strength. Other shinobi insult his father, Gai trying to fight them, but losing. His father tells him that true strength isn’t defeating something powerful, but protecting something special to you. Gai and his father bond as he says he wants to protect that Springtime of Youth.

Dai passes on the Eight Inner Gate technique to Gai, telling him he must decide on a special point at which to use the final art.

Gai and his team are saved from the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist by his father, who presumably unlocks the eighth gate to protect his son.

Gai releases the eighth gate, Madara commenting on how the red appearance is like autumn, Gai responding that it will nourish new leaves in the spring. The chapter ends as he rushes forward to attack Madara with what I believe is supposed to be Evening Elephant, following the theme of Afternoon Tiger and other attacks.

One Piece 741

Usopp is still running, leaving the fight to Franky and trying to find the lift. Trebol and Sugar notice the Tontatta are saying a name, Usoland. They’re confident he’ll come to save them, but Trebol thinks they’re crazy. Leo insists that Usopp will save everyone, even those ignorant of the situation. Trebol thinks they were a fool to trust him, since he believes such a person is a natural coward. But Leo and the others continue to believe in Usopp, saying he wouldn’t lie to them, threatening to beat up Trebol. Trebol then starts to step on them, Usopp unable to take it, calling out a challenge from a nearby cliff.

The lies are revealed, Usopp telling his true identity. He says he was deceiving them, but that, since they put so much trust in him, he’s willing to become their new hero. He attacks with what function as Leaf Shurikens.

Meanwhile, Doflamingo finds out someone’s impersonating him, Violet, Luffy and Kyros still waiting.

We flashback to Kyros when he was younger, the king sparing his life in exchange for him fighting in the colosseum. He fights with a dull edged sword, like Rebecca, easily defeating his opponents. The exchange is 100 consecutive wins for release on parole by the king. But after that, he realizes it’s better to stay here, since everyone sees him as a monster in regular society.

The winning streak continues, Kyros getting to 1000 wins. But Riku meets him at a grave, Kyros mourning his friends that were killed before Riku took him in. He bemoans that he will only be remembered as a murderer as the chapter ends. One Piece is on break next week.

Toriko 270

Mansam sends Toriko, Coco, Sani Zebra and Komatsu off to Gourmet World; while in a bathtub, oddly enough.

Going back to where they found the Billion Bird egg, Toriko reminds everyone that with every other ingredient, they had to fight a beast. But it seemed like there wasn’t one here, but in fact, there was the mysterious Nitro creature. They arrive at the house, Zebra attacking with Voice Cutter, but the house is unscathed.

The group enters the house through the third floor, Coco stunned to find erotic magazines, the others amazed at everything being made of leaves, including the refrigerator.

Finding that there’s no stairway to the main floor, Toriko tries to open a hole, but fails. Even Zebra’s Sound Bazooka has no effect. Sani uses Dining Kitchen, finding a secret entrance in a well nearby. There’s a bath and a sauna, Toriko and Komatsu almost going in. Coco notices something off about the pond, diving in and ending up right where the well opened up.

Komatsu finds out that the first floor window opens normally, the group dumbfounded by how simple the solution is, Zebra kicking in the window.

The Nitro, mistaken for a GT Robo at first, awakens after the group thinks it might be in cryptobiosis, a sort of hibernation. It even speaks, enraged at the group taking so long and Zebra hitting him in the head with the window.

The chapter ends as it introduces itself as Chichi, the Taste Hermit.

Bleach 572

Yaachiru does a little dance with her Shikai, Isane amazed at its nature, since it doesn’t transform and doesn’t manifest as if she were training for Bankai.

Gwenhael seems to have survived, having concentrated his reiatsu into moving backwards so he can react faster than normal. But his glasses are cut in two and a chunk of his shoulder has been ripped out as well. It seems like he’s dying, another Quincy, implied to have done part of that new damage, appearing inside Isane’s barrier, which shocks her.

The person speaks as if Gwenhael was just created by their power, explaining it briefly as making fantasy reality. Gwenhael moves to attack, but the person destroys them. Isane is concerned about Rose and Kensei, but the Quincy says they’ve already killed them. Isane confirms this, Yachiru attacking from behind, which the hooded Quincy dodges, stopping Yachiru’s attack. She says it feels like her arm’s breaking, the Quincy inserting a suggestion into her mind of her bones being as brittle as cookies. The Quincy explains that their power is making anything they imagine reality.

The wall explodes as Kenpachi appears, coming to save Yachiru after noticing her reiatsu was getting low. The chapter ends on his disbelief that such a little guy was threatening her.

Fairy Tail 375

We see Wendy and Charle flying as fast as they can to Face’s location, Charle asking Wendy how they’re going to stop Face. Wendy isn’t sure, but she still wants to try.

Back with Lucy, Natsu, Happy and Framalth’s fight, it’s revealed that the most powerful soul he has is Purehito Hades, the previous master of Fairy Tail before Makarov. Natsu reminds him that he was the one that beat the crap out of him, but Franmalth responds that he didn’t do it himself, counterattacking. He and Natsu exchange blows, but Franmalth catches him with his arms and prepares to suck out his soul.

Natsu actives Lightning Fire Dragon mode, attacking Franmalth. But then the magic’s soul itself is absorbed by the demon. Combined with Hades’ soul, he’s now even stronger. The demons, according to him, are powerful enough to take on an entire army with just one of them.

Mira is having problems fighting Sayla, unable to even land a blow on her.

Erza and Kyouka’s fight is going evenly, Erza amazed at the demon’s power.

Wendy and Charle arrive at Face’s location, entering the cave. The chapter ends as we see Ezel, a demon we don’t know the powers of, preparing to assault her from behind.

Seven Deadly Sins 68

Dreyfus confirms whether Hauser intends to support a criminal, Hauser responding that he’d rather protect her when they aren’t even willing to protect Zeal, not opposed to sacrificing him for their greater good.

Jericho thinks Geera’s messing around, Helbram wondering why she doesn’t want to figure out about her father. But Geera thinks she already knows what might’ve happened and is grateful to Diane for saving her brother. Dreyfus insists that their only goals are to punish evil and protect the kingdom; even though their resistance is treason, he’ll forgive them if they change sides now. They refuse, the fight starting with them staring each other down, sizing each side’s power.

Geera asks Hauser, a Platinum Holy Knight, what their chances are. They don’t know how their two powers work together and Hauser notes they’re up against a Great Holy Knight, Dreyfus, a Cardinal, Helbram, and a Diamond Rank Holy Knight, Gilthunder. Their chances, by his assessment, are zero.

Dreyfus moves to attack, Dreyfus sending a huge tornado up at them. He condenses it, so it’s at its greatest power, which manages to stall Dreyfus long enough for Geera to pour her power into the twister. She fires a series of bombs into it to enact a combination technique.

Gowther sees the explosion, noting Diane’s in danger and moving to help her. But he’s pursued by Holy Knights with a Location and Discriminate power, figuring out his location and identity, plus analyzing his powers. Another Holy Knight comes in with some unknown power. Gowther advises them to fight somewhere with less citizens, but Dreyfus has told them to ignore the citizens, just sending it home that he is not a noble person at all.

But the giant knight is knocked away by Kaide, a Knight we may have seen before. He says that he didn’t receive such an order, but that even if it was so, a Great Holy Knight shouldn’t order such a thing if he represents the king’s will, moving to attack the others.

He uses his Makeup power, revealing himself to be Threader from the Dawn Roar who tried to find Gowther before. He effortlessly defeats the other two knights, wanting to fighter Gowther solo, the chapter ending on the clash of their weapons.

Magi 216

We start with a scene of a horrible war, people fighting because they each believe the other faction is going against the will of “God” (Ilah or Il Irah?)

Ithnan, Ugo and Solomon move to destroy the Divine Staff, which is the source of Il Irah’s power, it seems. They find a girl, who powers the Divine Staff, but her life force is being drained. Solomon goes to help her, releasing her from the constraints.

We are told that the humans forgot their goal of utopia, instead using magic to enslave the non human species. A resistance fights against this, freeing the demi-humans from the spells suppressing their intelligence.

The girl rescued from the Divine Staff room is bewildered at the festivities, since she was under a more oppressive rule. But Sheba insists that she is right to die for Ilah, since the other species to her are a curse on the world, having eaten humans, who are Ilah’s messengers.

Sheba leaves the group after they tell her they intend to free the other species. But after running from the impure ones, she is nearly killed in the desert.  Solomon appears, protecting her, but instead of killing the manticore, he uses his power to calm it and send it to its mother.

Sheba continues to believe that the demi-humans are horrible monsters, but Solomon tells her she is the monster here, asking her what she thinks of herself as the chapter ends.

It’s possible that Ill Irah and Ilah are the same entity, which would make sense, since the idea of Magi appears to be partly about the corruption of the Rukh. If you use Black Rukh to summon Ill Ilah/IRah, then things go badly, but White Rukh makes things better. So I’ll go with Ill Ilah for now, unless they make a future distinction.

World Trigger 50

The new Trion solder unleashes a huge blast at the three bullies, the surviving two retreating. Osamu and Kitora burst in to distract it from attacking further.

A Marmod appears, Kitora volunteering to take on the new Rabit and leaving Osamu to take on the Marmod. He thinks to himself that he might not be able to do it without anyone else’s help.

We flash back to him training in a simulation room. Osamu remembers that, while they seem to act like animals, they have programming that makes them deliberate movements very mechanically.

But even with training, Osamu is having problems, since all he can manage to do is defend. Karasuma advises him to visualize his victory, his counterattacks more certain that way. If he can be confident and imagine his attacks working, he can train towards that and his body will follow his mind’s intent.

Osamu slices off the Marmod’s legs and then finishes it off, his training finally paying off. He moves to help Kitora, but the chapter ends as he sees something that shocks him off panel.

Naruto 667

Orochimaru’s group reaches Sasuke, Karin furious, but the others realizing who it is, especially Orochimaru himself. It’s Kabuto, having gotten free of Izanami and healing Sasuke. The reason Karin couldn’t recognize him is because he absorbed many different kinds of chakra, changing its fundamental composition.

The group asks him what he’s doing; Suigetsu speculates he might be trying to absorb Sasuke like Orochimaru. Kabuto confirms he’s not going to hurt Sasuke or absorb him, since he got advice from many people, including Tobirama. But Itachi was the biggest influence, as Kabuto explains to Orochimaru that the self the Sannin taught him disappeared, replaced with the original Kabuto. He wants to protect the one place he can call home and saving Sasuke is part of that, since he was inspired by Itachi’s motivation.

But Suigetsu brings up that Kabuto was the one who teamed up with Obito from the start of this Ninja War. Kabuto says that they hadn’t found themselves, but now they have and they know what they must do.

We move back to where Madara and the others are, Guy having the situation explained to him. Kakashi managed to teleport Minato’s Sage Art Rasengan away, Minato reminding everyone that only sage arts and taijutsu can damage Madara. So now Guy and Minato are the only two who can fight Madara effectively.

Kakashi brings up that Minato’s sage arts aren’t as good, Minato agreeing, since he takes more time to generate the necessary energy and at the moment he can’t even make seals.

Gai moves to fight, unlocking the 7th inner gate and releasing green steam, at an immense fighting power now. He seems to do great damage, but then is unable to fight after his finishing move, his muscles worn out. Madara throws a black ball of Bijuu energy, Minato and Kakashi teaming up to stop it from hitting him with the Hiraishin technique. But Rock Lee saves them the trouble, pulling Guy away from the path of the attack.

Guy’s slightly hurt, insisting he can still fight. The chapter ends as he implies he’s prepared to die, ready to unlock the final inner gate.

One Piece 740

Luffy and Violet are running through the castle, trying to escape Pica. Violet’s worried about Zoro, but Luffy insists he’ll be alright. Zoro, meanwhile, is having difficulty really damaging Pica

We get a diagram of the location of Luffy, Violet, Zoro, Kyros, the two gnomes with him, as well as Law, Riku and Doflamingo.

Kyros and the gnomes meet up with Gladios. Kabu and Ranpo opt to make an opening for Kyros so he can get to Doflamingo. Kyros tries to escape after Kabu and Ranpo have been seemingly hit with a huge explosion. But Gladios catches up, revealing he’s eaten the Rupture Rupture fruit, able to make anything inorganic rupture, which includes the toy body. Luffy bursts in, knocking Gladios back before he can rupture Kyros’s body

Gladios is furious, seeing Violet the traitor, Luffy wanting to fight him, but Violet insisting he’s too powerful. Kyros and Violet talk, Violet saying she’s impressed at what Rebecca and Kyros have done, Kyros saying he still has more to accomplish and that Violet and Riku suffered more than anyone.

Gladios ruptures his head covering, wounding Violet. Luffy takes her and Kyros, stretching himself up to the second floor.

Kinemon appears, disguised as Doflamingo. Gladios says he should go the upper floor while he finds the samurai, suggesting they may fight.

Luffy, Violet and Kyros are right near Doflamingo, but Luffy is told to wait. Doflamingo wonders how the gnomes and Straw Hats became aware of things. He suspects Law, but Law insists he’s cut all ties with them. Doflamingo then suspects King Riku.

Kyros is amazed that Riku has survived, waiting for the opportunity when Sugar’s power is negated, not wanting to let the others’ sacrifices go to waste.

Franky is holding the Marines off above the underground port and Smile Factory, leaving things to Usopp and the gnomes.

We see Robin’s become a toy through contact with Sugar when trying to put the grape in her mouth, though she doesn’t have a contract on her, thankfully.

Sugar and Trebol wonder about the grape, Sugar concluding it must be poison. Leo and the others leave it in Usopp’s hands, but he’s retreating at the chapter ends.

Toriko 269

The chapter begins as Terrycloth, Kiss and Quinn all appear, going through training. Toriko appears, Terry overjoyed to see him and much bigger after the year and a half they’ve been separated. Tom shows up with some booze.

We see Mansam coordinating various efforts, the Saiseiya trying to revitalize the soil and Capture Level Measuring Devices for use in the Gourmet World are nearly ready as well, the overall reorganization of the IGO moving forward. Their biggest goal is getting Gourmet World ingredients, meaning that Toriko, Coco, Sani and Zebra must all be capable of entering it and thriving.

Mansam flashes back to when he and Ichiryuu found Toriko, nearly starved to death and giving the bread Ichiryuu presented to him to the villagers instead. His own fingernails are nearly gone from biting at them and what’s more, he, like Midora, has Gourmet Cells from birth, meaning he wasn’t genetically engineered so much as he struck the genetic lottery. Ichiryuu decides to adopt him, thinking his kind heart will help the Gourmet Age in the future, especially with Ichiryuu’s own Full Course. He also looks forward to what Toriko will have as a Full Course. Mansam reflects that Toriko is carrying on Ichiryuu’s legacy.

We see Jirou and Setsuno in Gourmet World, finding Ichiryuu’s grave prepared by Midora. The Million Tree and Food Immersion Flowers are all along the area, which amazes Jirou, since this land was supposedly infertile. He thinks that Midora must be amazingly strong now, much more than he and Ichiryuu ever were. Setsuno says their overall goal shouldn’t be Midora, but Joa and Neo. She even notes that Gourmet World is entering “Night”, becoming dangerous even to experienced travelers such as them. They speak as if they won’t return to Human World ever again, which makes me think that they’re entering twilight as well in a way.

Komatsu confirms where Setsuno is with Nono, saying they have to work their hardest to restore Human World. She offers to serve Komatsu, both of them honored to be with what they consider great chefs.

Toriko explains to Tom that he has to talk to the Nitro from Ichiryuu’s Safe Zone and prepare for a long journey, one he doesn’t know when he’ll be returning from, if at all. The chapter ends as Tom says they should be as strong as they can, since they’re the strongest representatives of Human World.

Bleach 571

Isane is bewildered at what happened, asking Yachiru what happened to cause her nose to bleed, which she responds with equal surprise.

Gwenhael appears, reintroducing himself and reiterating his power. Yachiru strikes him again, but it seems to be ineffective. He explains there are three levels to it: first is his form, then his essence, meaning that what Yachiru hit was an after image, since the form lags behind slightly. He can even switch between the two forms to attack someone without them being aware. The first phase is invisibility, while the second is intangibility. He can even switch between invisibility and intangibility so quick that even someone like Yachiru can’t match the speed. But she’s getting close, so he switches to imperceptibility, where they forget he even existed.

But Gwenhael is amazed at the instinct Yachiru shows, since she attacks even though to her, this should be their “first” meeting. He thinks Isane is more logical, but Yachiru’s reaction is enough to make him want to know why she’d conclude he was an enemy without asking, which Isane inquires about as well. Yachiru says he made her heart skip a beat, which infuriates Gwenhael, since it means she’s acting a primitive instinct. He concludes to defeat her before she manages to vanquish him.

Isane inquires further, wondering if it’s just a bad feeling, but Yachiru says it’s a deep seated feeling of unease, not just that the person is creepy. Kenpachi said the same sort of thing, but since Yachiru still thinks Kenpachi isn’t around (not sure if she means he’s dead or just not here at present), so she won’t be stealing his fun.

She unsheathes her Zanpakutou, Gwenhael preparing to make a sneak attack, saying she can’t damage him unless she makes a clean blow. She slices at him while he’s still intangible, but it manages to make a cut after he retains physicality.

Yachiru explains that her sword duplicates her actions within her field of vision, so even if someone dodges it, another attack will make contact if the person doesn’t move. She manifests them, Sanpo Kenju, the chapter ending as they attack together.

Fairy Tail 374

Lucy and the others plan to distract Keith and run away in order to stop Face, but Franmalth appears behind him. Lucy summons Taurus and Aries, the two working in tandem to create a cloud of wool, the group escaping as Wendy reiterates the location of Face, which Keith seems to recognize or register in his memory.

But as they get further away, Keith suddenly appears in their path, preparing to attack. Gray suddenly bursts through him, distracting the demon long enough for Lucy and the others to run away.

Gray and Keith square off, Lucy’s group meeting up with Franmalth, Lucy and Happy getting stuck in Aries’ fluff. Wendy and Charle escape as someone slices off Franmalth’s extended arm. It’s Natsu, wanting a rematch from last time. Lucy explains the situation, Franmalth enraged, his form changing as he reveals the full extent of his absorption power, having assimilated Taurus and Aries. He can take any soul he’s captured and use it to metamorphose himself.'

Natsu moves to strike, Franmalth morphing his face to look like Aries, which stops him enough for him to slam Natsu down. Natsu attacks again, Franmalth using Taurus, which Natsu says he has no issue beating up, sending Franmalth flying.

Franmalth decides to reveal his most powerful soul, the chapter ending as the others are shocked at who it is, Wendy still moving to deactivate Face.
