I’m adding the Naruto Gaiden chapters as they come out, since it’s a nice throwback to a series I covered for over a year anyway.

Next week has Golden Week starting in Japan, so I may just delay it and do 2 weeks of content in one post.

Naruto 700 +1

We see that the Genin exams are starting for Bolt and Sarada’s class. Bolt is excited, while Sarada wonders what will happen afterwards and what it even means to be a ninja.

Afterwards, Sarada and Chouchou are walking through the city, Chouchou not wanting to go to train with her father. But Sarada says she should, Chouchou taking it the wrong way and thinking Sarada’s being stuck up.

Chouji appears, Sarada leaving after Chouchou complains about him not eating the right flavor of potato chips (a reference to a chapter in the Rock Lee spin off with a war between three different competing flavors in the village)

Bolt and Naruto are fighting after his son defaced the mountain again. Naruto’s about to use Multiple Shadow Clones, but Sai and his son Inojin suggest otherwise as they train, each showing their own artistic style.

Sarada follows Bolt, as she was shown to do in the last chapter of Naruto proper, Bolt trying to hide. Naruto asks if Sarada’s seen him, the shinobi pointing him in the opposite direction.

Bolt thanks her, Shikamaru saying Naruto could’ve found him if he activated Sage Mode. Bolt says he’s been found by his dad even without it, Shikadai saying Naruto probably is too busy to really focus on Bolt. Bolt agrees, noting that the Naruto before was likely a Shadow Clone anyway.

Before Bolt can rush off, Shikamaru traps him with Shadow Binding Art, telling him not to make trouble for his father and him, since he’s his advisor. He loosens up, saying Bolt is just like his dad. After telling Shikadai to go get Naruto’s Shadow Clones, he comments on how Shikadai takes after him as well, since his son reflects a similar laziness.

Sarada thinks to herself that she hasn’t had much time with her own father, not ever having actually met him in her memory. She asks Sakura if he wore glasses, Sakura not sure, which makes Sarada wonder if they were really married at all.

Sakura notes that Sasuke wasn’t around much, not unlike now. Sarada wonders if they really were together at all, Sakura eventually getting frustrated and smashing the floor as Sarada says it’s more than a little weird.

Sakura apologizes as we see Sarada is crying slightly, genuinely missing her father. She says that Sasuke’s on an important mission and he’ll be back soon. She empathizes with her daughter, saying that her feelings should reach out to Sasuke.

Sarada questions that, but there’s a sudden earthquake, the house collapsing as Sakura faints from realizing she hasn’t even paid off the loan.

Shizune is looking after her as Sarada looks through the wreckage. She finds the picture, but is shocked to see that Sakura put her picture over Karin, suggesting that Sarada is, as fans have theorized, Karin’s daughter. It’s not just Sasuke and Karin, Suigetsu’s also in the picture, but it does lend some credence, especially with Sarada observing that she has glasses too.

The chapter ends as Sarada shows some frustration as we see Sasuke, seemingly noticing through a connection they have (or just his paranoia, perhaps)

Boku no Hero Academia 39

We see Todoroki flash back to his mother, but in the present, he asks Deku if Endeavor paid him to tell the Fire and Ice user to fight with everything he has.

Getting frustrated, Todoroki moves to attack Deku, but the All For One fighter rushes at him with even greater speed. He tries his hardest to concentrate, his arm seemingly heating up with power, turning black. The strike knocks Todoroki back, shocking everyone, since he’s already fought with so much strength and damaging himself as well.

Todoroki tries to attack again, but Deku dodges, commenting that Shouto’s Ice power is weakening.

Cementoss talks to Midnight, wondering if they should stop the match. He thinks Deku is being reckless, thinking he can just be healed, but also ignoring the pain through adrenaline.

But Aizawa thinks to himself that even if it seems like Deku isn’t getting better at using his Quirk, he’s using this fight as a way to push himself to focus and improve his control. The Eraserhead Quirk user wonders what drives Deku, since he’s still willing to go through this much pain even knowing he can be healed.

Deku, not able to even clench his fist, still attacks Todoroki, who launches an ice trail at him. He manages to knock it back, Todoroki asking why he’s going this far.

Deku replies that it might not be as impressive as Todoroki’s reason, but he wants to show that he can become a great hero like All Might. He says he can’t pretend to understand where Todoroki’s coming from, but he also thinks it’s foolish to not use his full power just to spite his father.

Todoroki flashes back to his father beating him to test his strength, his mother pleading for him to stop, but Endeavor continuing. Later, Shouto tells his mother he doesn’t want to be like his father, his mother comforting him by noting that he still wants to be a hero and has a vision.

Deku strikes Todoroki again, who flashes back to his mother burning him with scalding water after talking to her mother about her concerns and evidently already mentally broken after years of Endeavor treating her youngest son like a tool.

Todoroki builds up this hatred for his father afterwards, his mother presumably sent to a mental hospital and possibly still there.

In the present, Deku shouts to Todoroki that his power is his own, not his father’s.

We see All Might talking about how Quirks are more about one’s individual resolve rather than the connections they may have to parents.

Todoroki remembers his mother saying that he isn’t a slave to his blood, that he can become who he wants to be.

The chapter ends as Todoroki, thinking Deku is silly for trying to help his opponent, unleashes his Fire side, affirming that he will be a hero as well.

Seven Deadly Sins 123

Hendricksen’s appearance to Griamore enrages him, making the Holy Knight rush to attack him and avenge his father. But the Druidic Knight knocks him away, saving him from an attack of Purgatory Fire from the Gray Demon.

Hendricksen tells Griamore they should focus on the immediate threat. He also confirms that Dreyfus is alive, which Griamore can’t believe after seeing Hendricksen kill him with Acid Down.

The Druidic Knight asks for the three Holy Knights’ help. But they try to attack it on their own as it unleashes Dark Snow and then Dark Nebula. Griamore manages to protect them with Long Wall, but Hendricksen has been hurt by the second attack.

Gilthunder thinks to himself that this is the demon Hendricksen fused with. But since it doesn’t have his power level on top of its own, it should be weaker by comparison.

Hendricksen rushes at it, still berating himself for even having its blood in his veins. But the demon counters, Howzer and Gilthunder managing to keep it occupied enough for Hendricksen to use Purge on the demon.

Gilthunder asks how Hendricksen has that ability, since he thought it was solely his father, Zaratras’s, power.

Hendricksen explains that both he and Zaratras are of the Druid clan and Purge is a special technique that eliminates evil souls, separate from the unique Maryoku every individual has, like Hendricksen’s Acid power.

Griamore wonders if that means Dreyfus was a Druid as well, Hendricksen saying that they were half brothers, so Zaratras was the pure blood. He and Dreyfus both admired Zaratras greatly.

Gilthunder demands to know why he killed a person he respected so much.

Hendricksen responds that it all happened 10 years ago, when Dreyfus and he were sent to investigate the ruins of Danafor. The chapter ends as we start what will likely be a flashback to these events.

Magi 263

We continue the conversation from before, Aladdin reemphasizing that falling into depravity may not be bad. Koumei says that their goal is to stop Al Thamen, since they intend to use Black Rukh to summon Ill Illah, but Aladdin says that since Arba/Gyokuen is dead and the Black rukh Judal had disappeared with his presumed death, there isn’t any potential misuse of Black rukh for those purposes.

Aladdin doesn’t want Hakuryuu or Kouen to fight, but he and Alibaba couldn’t stop him, especially since it would interfere with Hakuryuu’s free will, even if it meant him falling into depravity.

Kouen says that they’ll let Aladdin do what he wants, but they also note that they want to eliminate all wars.

Koumei further elaborates by putting forth a theory that all wars come about by conflicts of beliefs. But if one side reaches their objective, then the war ends. If the overall goal is to impose different beliefs on someone else who disagrees, Koumei and Kouen think that the best way to reduce wars is to reduce the number of beliefs.

Hakuryuu was motivated by hatred of Gyokuen and associated that to anyone connected with her. Aladdin’s message from Alma Torran was to continue in your beliefs in spite of difficulties, so in a way, Hakuryuu is being consistent with that.

Kouen thinks Aladdin was really following Alibaba’s goals, so with him gone, Aladdin has to move forward with the ideals that he gained from Alibaba and the others.

Aladdin meets everyone else in Alibaba’s household, who are still in shock about his coma. Orba even says he’ll take revenge, but Aladdin responds that Alibaba wouldn’t want that. Aladdin, not completely sure of what he must do, is at least certain that he will help Alibaba as his friend, which is more important than getting vengeance.

Toto will look into Alibaba further with her Magoi manipulation, while Morgiana will ask Yunan for assistance as another Magi. Meanwhile, Aladdin, resolved to make sure of why he chose Alibaba as a King Vessel uses Solomon’s Wisdom, initiating it with the phrase Open Sesame as the chapter ends.

World Trigger 100

Everyone’s still amazed that Yuma waited for Kumagai and Murakami’s fight to conclude. Both aces have 1 point each, so this fight will be important in the balance.

Murakami seemingly figured that Yuma would attack in the confusion, which is why he let go of Raygust and turned around. But now, they’re fighting directly, no tricks to play with a third fighter involved.

Meanwhile, Nasu is trying to maintain her position and get points on her side. She’s having difficulty fighting off Osamu, especially because Chika serves as his support and is off Radar with her Bagworm and immense Trion levels.

Her best bet would be to swing around to get behind Taichi and Kuruma and take them out, since Osamu is less vulnerable by comparison.

Nasu is starting to pin down Kuruma, but he and Taichi combine their efforts to attack Nasu, using the element of surprise from Taichi turning off his Bagworm.

They combined their Shields to improve their defense against Nasu’s Viper. But Nasu counterattacks, breaking through their defense to open them up for another round.

Osamu makes a move with his Asteroid, slightly winging Nasu and taking her attention off them, seemingly trying to keep them alive for his overall plan.

Meanwhile, Yuma and Kou’s fight continues, Kou on the offensive, Yuma barely able to keep himself out of harm’s way.

Tachikawa thinks Murakami’s still got the edge, especially since Yuma, even with imitating Kazama and Kitora’s tactics of branching Scorpion blades, can’t keep up with Murakami’s learning ability and previous experience.

But Jin thinks this battle could still shift in Yuma’s favor, the chapter ending as he says both of them have past experience that motivates them.

One Piece 784

People are still panicking as Bird Cage gets smaller, not even cutting buildings, but dragging them along.

Back on the plateau where Zoro’s group is, they’re concerned that the Bird Cage’s epicenter is where Doflamingo is, so they’re not safe where they are, right in the path of the impending doom.

Zoro tells Kinemon that he’s going to stop Bird Cage somehow.

Cavenish compliments Law, saying he and Luffy will become the eye of the new storm that will start when this gets out to the rest of the world.

Luffy uses Gear Fourth, now blowing up his muscles instead of his bones or flowing blood through rubber veins to enhance speed and power. He’s now a Bound Man (or Bounce Man as the literal Japanese seems to be)

Doflamingo thinks it’s silly, but Luffy rushes forward, his punch actually sinking into his arm and the recoil knocking Doflamingo away with amazing power he didn’t expect.

The String Man was knocked a sizeable distance away and he sees Luffy bouncing on the air with his new elasticity from Gear Fourth. He then strikes him again, this time with his feet, knocking him even further back.

Doflamingo thinks Luffy’s enhanced himself with Armament Haki, so he uses his Athlete Thread attack, but finds Luffy is still rubbery, the attack ineffective.

Luffy hits Doflamingo with his Python Cannon as the chapter ends with it actually shrinking and changing trajectory.

Bleach 624

Aizen wakes up, Shunsui surprised he got up so quickly. The traitorous Soul Reaper asks why the Captain Commander didn’t kill him, Shunsui responding that he’d have done it if he thought it was possible.

Shunsui also comments that Aizen was only paralyzed for about 5 minutes, so it sort of makes the attack by Underbelly seem unimpressive. Aizen responds that he’s never really been immobilized for that long, so the Quincy should feel proud.

The Captain Commander tells Aizen to wait there while they rebuild the gate.

Aizen wonders if the Soul Reapers and Quincies are working together, Shunsui qualifying it’s to defeat a common enemy, not because they’ve resolved their issues completely. The Hougyoku bearer expresses his resentment towards Ichigo for being in the Soul Palace before him.

Ichigo is knocked awake by Yoruichi, the Soul Reaper/Quincy wondering why he was the only one unconscious even if everyone else is also safe.

He remembers that they were falling, Ichigo struck by Uryuu’s arrow. He rips it out, Orihime using Santen Kesshun to shield everyone’s fall. Yoruichi then uses a tool to pierce into it and pull the barrier up.

But Kon suddenly appears from Ichigo’s robe, seemingly the one that knocked Ichigo out. Orihime reminds him in the background that she made the barrier that he knocked his head on as well.

Ichigo starts to take out his anger on Kon, but Yoruichi interrupts, saying they need to prepare for a counterattack and get back to the Soul Palace’s main building.

Ichigo thinks he could get up there on his own and the others could use Orihime’s Shun Shun Rikka, but he’s worried about them being attacked.

Yoruichi says that’s not a problem, calling for someone.

The chapter ends as we see it’s a Garganta and Grimmjow, hinted at being with Kisuke’s group, along with Orihime and Chad, appears, shocking Ichigo.

Toriko 321

We see the second party of people following Toriko’s party make landing with a Crabbus. Chin Chinchin’s group is ahead of them and explains that Toriko and company are having a party.

Komatsu and the others explain that they’ve captured and prepared PAIR, the newcomers shocked at the sex change and that PAIR is pouring out from the sphere.

Chinchin Chin thinks that with PAIR, Toriko’s group can see Food Spirits, souls of living beings that reside in ingredients. And they can speak to people as well, implying Komatsu has heard them through the series.

Sani brings Guemon and Malee’s bodies as we flashback to an explanation of why they were sought out. It turns out they aren’t dead, but in a state of near death because of Malee’s special Knocking that kept them alive after being attacked by a Blue Nitro. They can reverse it with a Saiseiya and Pukin offers to do so.

When it’s revealed she’s the pupil of Mohyan Shaishai, Kaka notes that he’s been trying to revive a special ingredient.

Komatsu wonders if Guemon and Malee being revived means that his heart was also brought back from the Back Channel. But Chiyo says that since it was destroyed, it would have had to be replaced or revived.

Pukin thinks that it was simultaneously destroyed and revived by Teppei. Chinchin observes that Komatsu has awakened to Gourmet Cells and even has a Gourmet Cell Demon he hasn’t yet unlocked fully. Teppei is theorized to have made Komatsu’s heart stronger with a Saiseiya technique

The idea of Komatsu’s heart being revived after destruction makes Teppei seem more trustworthy, but Toriko is skeptical, since he did attack him.

The chapter ends as everyone continues to enjoy PAIR, Zonge discovering he looks just like the Monkey King’s lover, Bambina, the Beast King overjoyed to see him.

Fairy Tail 429-430

Lucy, Happy and Natsu are imprisoned, Virgo’s gate closed because of the magic seal stone.  They wonder why Gray is acting like this, Lucy thinking he must be under someone’s control.

Goumon arrives at the cell, saying everyone else has left, while he’s to interrogate them to get information about who sent them. He explains that Operation Purification is meant to draw Zeref out by destroying pure souls.

He also says he’s cosplaying Zeref, noting kanji on his head that are supposed to be read Zeref, but they’re actually read Matcha (the last kanji meaning “tea” from what I can tell)

Goumon prepares to torture Lucy, first explaining all the ways he’ll do it after he pins Happy and Natsu to the wall. He says the one he initially described as licking-the-soles-of-your-feet involves putting salt water on your soles and having a goat lick it raw.

As he restrains Lucy, he asks why they came here. Natsu says it was to save Gray, Goumon responding that Gray is one of Avatar’s allies now. Natsu retorts that they still believe in Gray.

This frustrates Goumon, who moves to cut Lucy in half after she’s suspended in midair by chains attached to her limbs. But he’s frozen solid by Gray, who says that Natsu’s group screwed things up. He releases them and gets out what looks to be a smartphone, contacting someone.

He hands the phone to Natsu, who hears Erza’s voice, who explains that Gray was infiltrating Avatar as a spy as the chapter ends.

Gray tells everyone to follow him and that he and Erza will explain the situation as they go, the “smartphone” explained to be a small transmission Lacryma.

Erza starts by saying she was the one who initially investigated Avatar as a request from Jellal. But then she found Gray, who had been taken care of by Porylusca. He’s able to control his Ice Devil Slayer powers and the markings after her treatment.

The initial idea was information gathering, Gray having some interest in finding the Book of End, so they had to keep Juvia out of the loop to protect her. But eventually they started talking about Operation Purification. The plan is to kill a whole town and draw Zeref there with all the death that results.

Natsu thinks they could’ve just took out Avatar easily with their combined power, but Gray says there’s more than just this one cell, multiple groups all comprising the same organization as a whole, some of them actually unknown to each other.

Gray apologizes, Lucy also a bit sorry she hit Gray. But Natsu says they all need to band together to take out Avatar once and for all.

Back in the town of Malva, Jerome wonders why Goumon and Gray are back at their headquarters. But Briar says it wouldn’t matter even if Gray betrayed them and the council members appeared, since they have a massive advantage of numbers.

Arlock explains the plan, encouraging everyone with the promise of Zeref’s return. The grunts move towards the gate, but are stopped by Natsu’s group who blast them away.

Lucy uses the Star Dress Tauros form and the chapter ends as we see that Erza is flanking Avatar from behind by herself with her amazing power.
