Disclaimer: Scanlations and official sources both have a place in the community, but buy official manga volumes to support the author. If you can, also subscribe to Crunchyroll and/or Shonen Jump through Viz Media to read chapters nearly simultaneous with Japan. Most of the series covered can be found through legal means, so please encourage the industry that gives us what we love

Agravity Boys ended somewhat abruptly, but it feels like a good ending and was enjoyable as a gag comedy series among many. I’m guessing the competition was just that stiff

Moriking also concluded with a fairly satisfying ending given the story presented

Platinum End also concluded, though the writing was on the wall in terms of the story. If you enjoyed Death Note, it might be your speed a bit, but in my experience (having not read Death Note), it feels more like Fire Punch in its ending, so be warned, very unexpected resolution of things.

Jigokuraku: Hell’s Paradise concluded, several endings of manga in January 2021, but more content will come about soon for this series, an anime having been greenlit

Our Blood Oath ended unexpectedly at 18 chapters, a series not ending around there since Guardian of the Witch last year.

There are 4 series planned for release and we have 2 this month. The Elusive Samurai by Yuusei Matsui of Assassination Classroom fame, features a historical fiction about Tokiyuki Hojo, who, while seeming cowardly and lazy, is capable of great evasive tactics. When his clan is betrayed by one of the vassals that takes over, Tokiyuki despairs, but when he’s thrown into battle by a Shinto priest that sees great potential in him, he shows amazing talents and is taken to train and become a revolutionary warrior to change Japan’s military landscape in 2 years.

Next is I tell c (Aiterushi in Japanese, not sure why they didn’t just go with Anglicized letters for the title, I think it’s been done before) by Kazusa Inaoka, formerly having done Invade You that was covered as a Jump Start in 2018. The series is a mystery crime procedural where our lead is Risa Aioi, a somewhat mentally unstable police detective who gets her perps by tactics of a stalker, due to her having previously been kidnapped and suffering Stockholm syndrome of sorts. But she solves a complex mystery involving a celebrity murdering another celebrity, actually a stalker himself. The younger brother of two other detectives begrudgingly agrees to let her keep helping, but he’s also skeptical of her methods

World Trigger 205

Hyuse is on Rokuro’s team, the teams all set up. Even those agents who choose not to participate in the mission after the test are promised about 150K yen as a stipend, but the bigger surprise is that the A rank agents, who will participate in the 2nd phase, will be judges for the 1st phase

Build King 7-10

Tonkachi, with Renga’s help, learns that Upside Down Castle is built on the dragon’s fang and a new one is coming in (also that Cork was adopted by King Batt), so he uses the back of his Vigor Hammer to invigorate it

The foundation of the New Upside Down Castle is established when new teeth grow in, Tonkachi unconscious and recovering for 2 weeks while Renga and the villagers do the renovations. Cork is happy, remembering how Batt took her in and encouraged her to look at the setting sun as rising instead. And Batt appears to recognize the House Beast by name of Two By Four

The House Beast is seemingly dangerous, a powerful weapon that caused massive destruction in the past. But Tonkachi and Renga don’t meet it again, having already left while they go to Buildon Garden for the exam, where they head into the Vigor Construction method area

As we see many others arriving to scout future builders getting their Buildon license, including the proctor for the Vigor Construction exam, Renga, Tonkachi and Cork meet Bar, who uses a Dismantling attack, though Tonkachi is seemingly able to resist it, the exams starting soon as Bar is held back by Eliwoder, another tough candidate

Dr. Stone 180-183

Senkuu’s group gets through the rainforest, using army ant extract to keep them safe from other threats and making a waterslide down the Amazon river. They arrive at ground zero, where an enormous mountain of Medusa devices is piled up, seemingly the way that it was guaranteed to work in spite of possible duds

Senkuu and friends discover pretty much all the Medusas are duds, but smash them open to investigate further. They also construct a ship with the design of stealth to avoid radar, Chrome noting that the Medusas not being observed even with advanced tech means they might be invisible to radar, which indeed is the case. The ship is outfitted with countless Medusas to keep it hidden from Stanley’s group

Investigating the Medusas further, Senkuu’s group discovers that the battery they theorized might be a diamond that needs to be made perfectly to scale in order to power the device. But since Senkuu and Xeno aren’t there, the group back in Corn City has to make the diamond themselves with trial and error through Senkuu’s directions, eventually creating a diamond, even if it’s small (which is sort of the point)

The artificial diamonds are going to be used in combination with natural diamonds that Chelsea directs the Corn City group to find, so Joel can grind it down into the battery needed for the Medusa.  Unfortunately, Stanley had gotten a message from Xeno prior telling them about Senkuu’s destination of Araxa, where they’ll find rare metals and diamonds as well to build Superalloy city and the Perseus arrives there ahead of Senkuu’s group.

My Hero Academia 296-299

The aftermath is devastating, Ochaco and others helping, while some pro Heroes are struggling to deal with all the suffering they see. And Midnight, among other Heroes, are reported dead, even Shigaraki supposedly “dead” in a sense, only his hatred reviving him. Though we see that All For One is mobilizing the Noumu that escaped to free him from Tartarus.

All For One, with his synchronous link to his old body, manages to disable Tartarus’ security system and break out all the villains there, offering them freedom if they submit to him as the new leader

The prison breaks continue, All For One biding his time to let Shigaraki’s body recover. ReDestro, having been duplicated by Twice, has also attacked the Public Safety commission, dealing some damage there, his clone dissipating with his main body’s defeat elsewhere. Meanwhile, everyone is recovering at Central Hospital, Shoto contemplating that he may have to stop Dabi now, his siblings and seemingly mother arriving. Aizawa is up, while Gran Torino is still in critical condition. Bakugou wakes up and heads to Deku’s room, since his rival is in a coma

We learn about Hawks’ backstory, both his parents suffering because of a criminal life, his father the instigator and his mother stuck in a broken relationship. After he was taken in, we move to the present, where Best Jeanist explains how he was seemingly in on the plan, in a deathlike state, while Hawks is recovering after his own near death experience. And after discovering his mom left, seemingly the leak for the info Dabi got, Hawks concludes he has to change things, even if he’s partly to blame for them.

Fire Force 248-251

Hinawa tries to go into Amaterasu after we see that Yu has been affected by an insect, transforming him into an Infernal, Giovanni’s last “gift” to Vulcan. But Charon blocks the way, Hinawa using new barrels that allow him to launch his enhanced bullets, Vulcan asking Licht to help him figure out how Giovanni is still using the bugs without the magnetic link

Licht suggests that Giovanni has some bugs using a dance, Vulcan finding the 7 targets and Lisa destroying them. But it seems that Giovanni, even after Vulcan devastates the bug body entirely, has taken over Yu’s body and moves to start the Cataclysm with the key

Arthur continues to be unable to defeat Dragon, the others also failing to gain any ground against their enemies, the situation not looking good at all as the key is inserted

Charon continues to take Hinawa’s barrage of attacks, remembering how he helped Haumea deal with the influx of humanity’s collective unconsciousness by being a target for physical violence. And as she grew up, he remained a stoic protector for her and she saw into his mind, seeing only unconditional love. In the present, Charon reaches his limit and dissipates, leaving the rest to Haumea for the Cataclysm’s completion

One Piece 1000-1002

Luffy and Zoro arrive at the top of Onigashima and face off against Kaidou, as Yamato tells Momonosuke about how Ace said his brother would become king of the pirates, same as Roger, who Yamato heard say that on his ship when he was a child. Kaidou is struck by Luffy, Big Mom shocked that he’d let the pirate hit him

Zoro and Killer contribute to fighting against Big Mom and Kaidou, Luffy, Law and Kidd all combining their efforts to fight, an epic clash coming to determine who will get closer to becoming King of the Pirates

The clash begins, Luffy at the forefront, while Zolo, Killer, Kid and Law all support him in one way or another. Both Big Mom’s electricity and Kaidou’s flames are tough, but Luffy pushes through and lands several strong blows on Kaidou, Big Mom occupied by the others slightly

Black Clover 277-280

While Yuno continues to fight Zenon, having wounded him, we see that Charlotte, with the Heart Kingdom’s Magic Array technique, has analyzed and refined her magic to utilize the curse that normally restricted her to blue roses, now able to utilize red roses, both able to constrain curses. This allows her to basically seal Vanica in the vines, seemingly defeating her easily

Dante fights Nacht and Jack, the Green Praying Mantis Captain managing to cut through gravity itself as he remembers his past, losing his father to a bear that he then killed, before he was even a Magic Knight. And with the sheer strength of his Cutting Magic, Jack manages to wound Dante even with the high regeneration

Morris, serving as a Devil Host himself (possibly another devil entirely?), uses his magic to draw out Loropechka’s combined wisdom of generations of Heart Kingdom Queens to speed up the Qliphoth tree and open the Underworld Gate. This seems to allow Dante to split (or be sacrificed?) and two higher order Devils appear, attacking Nacht and Jack.

Dante, Vanica and Zenon all get empowered by the first gate being opened, able to use 100% of their devil’s power, while the other 2 that appeared, Lilith and Naamah, are seemingly even stronger. And while Nacht debates how to handle Morris and the two higher order devils, we see that another Demon God besides the one in the Spade Kingdom that has revived for Mereoleona to fight, has appeared in Clover Kingdom’s outskirts
