Magi is off this week

Black Clover 67

Vett wonders if Noelle and Kahono can challenge him at all, with Luck, Magna and Asta all defeated before his power.

Asta tries to attack the Beast Mage again, but is smacked away, Kahono cushioning his blow with her Song Magic.

Kahono notices Kiato asleep and wakes him up by chastising him for taking their promises to become a famous dancer and singer for granted. He wakes up, only surviving because he lessened the power of Vett’s punch with his Dance Magic.

The brother and sister combine their magic to utilize Neptune’s Advent, sending a shockwave of magic at Vett

They comment on how this magic represents the bonds between them and the Water God, as well as the people they call family and friends, not able to be broken so easily.

However, Vett calls them weak and foolish dreams, slashing Kiato’s leg off and hitting Kahono in the throat, seemingly disabling their magic.

The high priest tries to attack as well to protect his grandchildren, but Vett blasts the monsters away

He says that he has dreams too, but he’ll crush those of anyone else. The Beast Mage picks up Kahono, preparing to finish her off, especially since she’s still able to glare at him in defiance.

Noelle is panicking, not sure if she can use her magic without hurting Kahono as well.

But Kahono’s voice encourages her, saying that the power she wields can be controlled now.

To protect her friends, Noelle’s magic grows greater and the chapter ends as she threatens Vett to let go of her friend, the temple shaking with the energy she’s producing

Boku no Hero Academia 96

We hear a report that’s done biannually to update on Hero rankings. All Might has retired, the world shocked by this, affecting even the main headquarters in America.

Best Jeanist is recovering from his injuries, taking a break from Hero duties, while Ragdoll has either lost her Quirk or it was negatively affected by the attempt to make her a Noumu.

We see the other members of the Pussycats mourning this loss with her, Kouta also nearby.

Nedzu thanks All Might as a fellow Hero for all the sacrifices he’s made over the years. He explains that, in spite of All Might still able to continue his teaching duties, many will blame his transfer to Yuuei for all the incidents and claim that the children are still in danger. In response to this, he’s putting a new plan into action

Aizawa and All Might are going to the homes of Class A’s students, while Nedzu and Vlad are going to Class B’s homes to explain the situation.

Jirou’s parents are concerned about her safety and wonder if they can trust Yuuei to do what’s best for them in light of the situation, Aizawa assuring them that they will do everything they can as educators, which includes the new plan, taking them to dormitories for their protection.

But Kyouka notes that her parents already trusted Yuuei enough, her father just putting on an act to try and seem more serious as a parent.

Aizawa and All Might travel to meet Bakugou’s family, his mother surprisingly similar to her son.

They say they accept Yuuei taking the students into the dorms and appreciates Aizawa noting how they see Bakugou for who he is, rather than just his outward appearance of being a strong Hero and talented from birth. They trust them to raise Bakugou up in this time of difficulty to be stronger.

Aizawa and All Might split up, All Might wanting to talk to Deku and his family individually, since they need to meet all the parents before the day’s up.

Bakugou asks All Might about his connection to Deku, the #1 Hero saying that he regards them all as his students, keeping his connection to Deku a secret. Bakugou doesn’t entirely buy it, but is grateful for his help anyway.

At Deku’s house, All Might sees how much the boy idolized him.

Izuku’s mother voices a strong disagreement with Izuku continuing to try and become a Hero. She’s grateful to them for protecting him, but she doesn’t want her son to keep suffering injuries and danger like this, thinking it might’ve been better if he remained Quirkless.

Deku thinks she’s being unreasonable, but realizes that she was still worried about him in spite of supporting him in his dreams.

The chapter ends as she emphasizes how against this she is, saying she cannot trust Yuuei to keel Deku safe, All Might up against a wall here.

World Trigger 148

Rindo tells Osamu that he may not be much help here, Osamu confident he can do it, though he does ask the Branch Chief for some help with something else.

Hyuse warns Jin that he may need to think of another way to get him to Aftokrator, but the Ace of Border says that the Neighbor shouldn’t underestimate Osamu.

Osamu communicates his request to Kidou and the others, who says they heard about this business already from Rindo. Netsuki says that Osamu’s asking for a lot to let an invader join Border

Osamu explains that the circumstances are different and that Hyuse agrees with the proposal. Hyuse emphasizes that he has his reasons for wanting to return home and they should understand that

The administrators wonder if Hyuse will provide information, but he says he will not change his position of not providing information that may disadvantage his country.

They say there’s nothing more to discuss, but Osamu insists Hyuse can provide other assistance, bringing attention to his fighting one of the enemy soldiers from Galopoula.

Kidou and the others say that’s a problem because he escaped from Tamakoma’s custody in the first place.

Osamu notes how Hyuse can be a combat asset, though the administration says this is more a benefit to Tamakoma than to Border as a whole, not convinced of their argument

Shinoda asks Rindo about his thoughts, the Branch Chief saying he thinks it’s too big of a risk, since the next expedition will be a long one, where the ship will be stopped, meaning there’s the possibility Hyuse will flee.

Osamu argues that it’s the opposite: they need a guide, someone who has experience in the Neighborhood and Hyuse can present that advantage to them in the expedition.

But Kinuta says that they already have sufficient information for the route from both Enedora and Replica. Osamu counters that Enedora knows very little about how Aftokrator works, Replica as well in terms of details that only Hyuse would know so far. He can provide this information and it will allow things to go smoothly, so Hyuse can get to Aftokrator with as little bumps in the road as possible.

Karasawa, Shinoda and Rindo all agree that the reward outweighs the risks involved, Netsuki and Kinuta a bit uncertain.

The chapter ends as we await Kidou’s decision, since he’s likely the one who has priority here

Seven Deadly Sins 181

Detail I failed to notice about 5 chapters ago: Ban did not rip out Merascylla’s throat: in fact, he tore out and crushed 5 of her hearts with Fox Hunt

Zaratras comments that Bartras would be proud to see his daughter grown up now.

Hawk wonders how Zaratras is alive, the Holy Knight explaining that he was indeed killed, Hendricksen poisoning a fish pie, giving it to him when he was notably hungry on guard duty.

The Holy Knight Captain continues to be overdramatic of how his demise was something he should’ve been able to prevent by resisting the temptation of the fish pie.
'

He weeps at how he was unable to save Hendricksen and Dreyfus.

After recovering, he explains how he was brought back to life by Merascylla’s magic, bringing back those with strong emotions back from the Land of the Dead. He regrets not being able to save his protĂ©gĂ©s from being manipulated by the Ten Commandments.

Elizabeth asks if he’s met his son Gilthunder, Zaratras saying he’s hesitant to do so, not willing to take the rejection or put Gilthunder under such stress

Zaratras asks to see Meliodas, impressed in spite of the situation with him being dead that Elizabeth could heal him so well after his injuries. He speaks to Meliodas, treating him as if he’s just asleep

He asks Elizabeth if she went to the Necropolis, the princess saying she did. But he wasn’t there, Zaratras thinking this means something.

The Holy Knight starts to place various runes on Meliodas’ body as he explains how Meliodas was a mysterious person, his quirks and the like showing a mind that had experienced much and had to find a way to cope.

The spell takes them into Meliodas’ memories, the first sight before them the destruction of Danafor, even seeing Bartras and Zaratras in the past.

Zaratras says this must be where the paths of he and the Holy Knight, as well as Elizabeth, all first crossed.

The chapter ends as Elizabeth is shocked to see Meliodas coming out of the ruined hole with her in his arms as a baby.

Bleach 680

Ichigo’s power is stolen, the Soul Reaper hybrid seeing his abilities disappearing as if he’s fading to white. Juhabach laughs maniacally, his body transforming with the new energy from Ichigo, a giant black cloud coming over the Soul Palace.

Jugram notices Uryuu is still alive somehow after being attacked by his sword previously.

Uryuu comments that he’s changed since being with Ichigo and his friends, imitating his tenacity and resolve to help others.

But Jugram responds that, if anything, he hasn’t grown with them any compared to the power he gained from Juhabach granting him the Antithesis Schrift. And if he should be loyal to anyone, it should be to the Quincy King, who granted him such progress.

Uryuu emphasizes that he made his choice because they were his friends, not because he expected to gain or lose anything in being with them.

Jugram is enraged at this revelation, saying that Uryuu will lose his life for Juhabach’s sake.

But suddenly, he blasted by a light, seemingly the Auschwarren that Juhabach used previously to steal the powers of most of the Stern Ritter. Now, both he and Gerard are seemingly destroyed by this selection and restoration of power back to Juhabach, who tells Ichigo he no longer needs them, planning to lay waste to all of Soul Society

Rukia and Renji appear to help Ichigo, Juhabach thinking they’re wasting their time. But he offers them the gate, which he’ll leave open as he goes to Seireitei or the like, and that he will give them death when they challenge him again.

The power he wields makes him this confident, the chapter ending as he leaves Ichigo and the others behind.

One Piece 831

Luffy’s crew splits up, Brook and Pedro going in the Shark Submerge 3, a submarine that they’ll use to infiltrate Big Mom’s castle to get a copy of her Poneglyph. Pedro says he’ll need Brook’s help to do that, since they have different assignments at this location

The rest of the group goes ashore to meet Pudding and Sanji, Luffy insisting he saw the two of them when they were arriving. Chopper is astonished to discover the beach is meringue cream

Luffy spots Sanji again, along with Chopper and Carrot, but he disappears as soon as they get close enough, a forest of candy before them.

Before they can split up and look for Sanji, Nami stops them, saying she thinks that they’re being led astray by the temptation of the candy. She agrees to go with them, but says that no one can go off on their own.

Chopper is drawn in by more sweets, a melon river and a doughnut bridge. Suddenly, a giant crocodile moves to eat the bridge, everyone dodging it. Turns out, it was mistaken, leaving them when it discovers they’re humans, even speaking to them.

Nami thinks they should go back to where Pudding directed them, but they can’t even get back easily now with the bridge destroyed.

That issue is forgotten as Luffy sees another Luffy, squaring off with him in frustration. But Chopper notices that they aren’t identical, the new Luffy a mirror image of him.

Carrot spots Sanji again, Luffy fighting his double in the meanwhile.

Chopper, Nami and Carrot meet someone who’s seemingly a giant, stuck in the ground. But they say they’re fine with it, asking for some apple juice.

Carrot pushes Nami down as someone tries to attack them, slashing the trees, which seem to be alive as well.

The half buried giant says they’ll tell them where Sanji went, since they saw him recently, if they’ll get her some apple juice.

Nami says they should go back, but the compass is getting disrupted by something, the whole forest being confusing now.

The chapter ends as we see what is called the Seducing Forest, alive by something connected to Big Mom’s power, moving to block off the Straw Hats’ exit.

One Piece is off next week

Toriko 377

Acacia moves to fight GOD, but Bambina is in the way. He punches the Monkey King away, but only seems to activate his stronger form. As he realizes the beast's tail is wrapped around his arm, he's hit by the counter punch from Bambina, knocking him towards Whale King Moon.

He’s warned that he needs to activate his Back Channel and escape from the super gravity. But Acacia isn’t intimidated, using Gourmet Hammer to smash the meteorite covering the Whale King’s skin, knocking him out as he sinks down.

Acacia is suddenly assaulted by the same rapid aging that a piece of NEO did when it encountered the Deer King. Turns out it’s a Back Channel in reverse: time is rapidly sped up, 1000 years passing in a second outside of it. He manages to put a Back Channel around himself to counter it, but is attacked by a purebred Devil Orochi’s poison after putting part of NEO into cryptobiosis so he can maintain his Back Channel’s power

NEO eats the poison to recover its strength, but is blasted by an Ashurasaurus as well, various beasts hiding on the Deer King’s back and horns

The 8 Kings all stand against him to stop him from getting to GOD. But Acacia isn’t intimidated, saying he’ll eat them all as appetizers to get to GOD

Teppei stops one of the Blue Nitro from helping Acacia, supporting Toriko in the meantime. He says he initially was cautious about taking Komatsu’s heart into the Back Channel, but with what Toriko’s group has accomplished, he shouldn’t have been afraid at all.

The chapter ends as Teppei wraps himself in the revived ingredient and covers Toriko’s tracks as he heads towards GOD.

Fairy Tail 491

Zera still exhibits her trait of being bad with meeting new people, hiding behind a tree to Gajeel’s confusion.

She explains that he managed to be teleported when he was almost sucked into the underworld by Bradman, Eileen’s spell saving his life

Turns out that Gajeel is now on Tenrou Island, where Mavis was born and where Fairy Tail basically started from Mavis meeting Makarov’s father and friends. The island is fused to the continent now after the spell, but the import of it can’t be overstated, since it’s Fairy Tail’s holy land in a way.

Gajeel doesn’t recognize her, Mavis not having told the guild about Zera

Zera explains that her existence is temporary, since she apparently did still die and her talk about being a Fairy of Origin was a ruse. Once Mavis’ mental state returns to normalcy, Zera will disappear as she did when Mavis realized her friend was just an illusion created after her death

Zera’s impressed at Gajeel being able to see and hear her, the original form only visible and audible to Mavis. She offers her assistance to Gajeel, who wishes to help the others.

Meanwhile, Natsu and Lucy meet up with Gray, Juvia and Erza, still all trying to find the guild in this new landscape.

Eileen has devastated the soldiers in the capital, turning Princess Hisui into a mouse, mocking her father and asking if he can still love her. He says he can, Eileen pausing before she does something else, sensing a presence.

Her eye gains a symbol on it, the eye manifesting as a giant form as she scans the continent more broadly, Natsu’s group seeing this and thrown for a loop. Eileen sees Erza’s red hair and wonders about who she is.

We shift over to Makarov and the other members of Fairy Tail with him, like Jet, Droy, Mirajane and Elfman, fighting Alvareth’s forces.

Suddenly, Juliet and Heine appear, disrupting the battle and taking out most of the weaker members with magic that makes things sticky and binding vines or such.

They initially think to target Makarov, but Mirajane’s magic power catches their attention

The guild is continuing to fight, but are contacted by Zera, who gives them a beacon to find where the guild building itself is. The chapter ends as everyone resolves to help Mavis, the founder of their guild
