Magi 204
We start this
chapter with Alibaba being a bit too clingy with Morgiana and she observes
this. It seems like Alibaba might’ve misunderstood Morg’s feelings. She
qualifies that it wasn’t a romantic confession, but that she wanted to continue
serving as a member of his household along with Olba and Toto. He’s predictably
shocked. He literally rips a few patches of hair out and runs away in
frustration.
Olba and Toto
explain that he misunderstood her and they go looking for him to fix things
between them. They find him hiding in a storage area and he seems to have been
badly hurt by the experience, lashing out at people almost like an animal. He
continues to mope about wanting to have a girlfriend and not being loved. It’s
hard to feel sorry for him when he’s acting like a child and the chapter may
just be meant as a comedy chapter in part.
Morgiana thinks when
Alibaba said she was beautiful back in Sindria a while ago and clarifies that
she does like him, but she’s still new to this, so she needs more time to learn
about being in a relationship and loving someone of her own free will instead
of being a slave as she was years ago. Alibaba agrees and the group notes how
honest he is about his feelings, which is what they respect about him as a
person.
Meanwhile, Aladdin
is studying back at Sindria and Yunan appears before him. He explains that he
wanted to talk to Aladdin some more, since he had to leave so abruptly back at
Magnostadt. He clarifies that the armies are at a relative armistice, which is
good. They have a common enemy, so now they’re trying to negotiate. There won’t
be a fight, at least not immediately.
Aladdin compliments
Yunan, saying Morg was right to call him a good person. He taught her the Toran
language and helped her train with other Household Vessel users. But he says
he’s not such a good person. He explains that he knows things about Ugo that
Aladdin doesn’t. There are apparently others favored by that Djinn. Yunan then
notes that Sinbad’s eavesdropping on them in the form of a bird made by magic.
He says he should be involved, since it’s his country. The chapter ends as
Yunan refuses, saying he doesn’t trust Sinbad, Sinbad responding that he feels
the same. Aladdin is confused, since he thought they’d get along.
World Trigger 39
Osamu is in the
cafeteria and is worried about the rumors getting out of hand. He didn’t tie,
as everyone’s saying, but lost 24 times and tied once. He almost wants someone
to ask him more directly. Someone comes up to him and asks about his branch,
Osamu explaining that he transferred with Jin’s help. The stranger then
challenges Osamu to a solo rank war.
Meanwhile, Yuma and
Miwa’s meeting goes well, Miwa calmly handing Yuma the coin and explaining that
since he enlisted, Miwa can’t try to kill him anymore. Then Yosuke and Yotaro
appear, Yosuke explaining that he’s taking care of Yotaro, Yosuke revealed to
be Shiori’s cousin, the Operator for Tamakoma branch. Shiori and Karasuma were
previously in main HQ until they transferred, similar to Osamu.
Miwa was called to a
meeting, but he lied to Kazama and said he was sick. Yuma volunteers to help
Miwa find the Trion soldiers who killed his sister so he can take revenge. Miwa
refuses, still insisting all Neighbor are his enemies, going to the meeting he
was avoiding anyway
Yosuke then
challenges Yuma to a practice battle, since official battles can’t be done
between Trainees and official agents.
We go back to Osamu
fighting the mysterious Border agent, revealing that he lost 10 times. His name
is Shun Midorikawa, which we’ve heard the surname before. A lot of the
spectators lose faith in Osamu, saying that he couldn’t have tied with Kazama
if he lost to Midorikawa who’s younger than him and an A rank Border agent.
Yuma asks if Midorikawa attracted all these people, Shun responding that it was
probably Osamu, which Yuma says is a lie. He challenges Midorikawa to a battle,
vouching all 1500 of his points on it.
Midorikawa wonders if Yuma can beat him with a training Trigger, Yuma
saying it should be fine to beat Shun, egging the prodigy on.
The chapter ends as
they agree on the terms: Yuma doesn’t want any points, he just wants Midorikawa
to show Osamu respect, which confuses Midorikawa, since he thought Yuma would
want respect instead.
Bleach 558
Sajin has seemingly
defeated Bambietta, the Quincy noting that her bombs are basically being pushed
back into her, causing the explosion we saw last time. She’s badly burned,
falling to the ground.
Dangai Joue (there
was no i at the end, I made a mistake on that) collapses, indicating the
technique is wearing off. Komamura is starting to revert back to his animal
form, but he is pushing himself to get the palace and kill Juhabach. His
ancestor observes that this seems more and more like vengeance. Komamura told
Tousen before he died that revenge was a waste of one’s life. But the ancestor
says that it’s fine, since revenge is the essence of their Werewolf clan and
he’s happy to see Sajin embracing his true self.
The transformation
begins to revert, but not to the wolf man we know from before, but to something
much smaller, indicating that without his human heart, he will return to a mere
wolf, an animal with no human behavior. Sajin calls this a sort of penance. I’m
guessing this is the trade off from abandoning your human heart: you revert to
the animal you were cursed as before you were reborn as a wolf man in Soul
Society. His ancestor says that this is a sort of relief to him, since now
Sajin is like himself, a Wolf Man who has abandoned his humanity. I assume that
Sajin can still fight, but he may never be able to fight with a Zanpakutou
again. It’s also possible that the Wolf Man ancestor feels relief because he
can now let go of the vengeance he desired, Komamura taking his place in a way.
It’s not entirely clear about the exchange and what it means for either of
them. He speaks as if Komamura may just become a mindless beast instead of what
he is: a giant wolf.
He moves to eat the
heart and as Sajin becomes a wolf, Iba picks him up, taking him to the palace
to take on Juhabach. The vice captain says that Sajin wasn’t wrong, that his
vengeance was justified since the Quincies aren’t necessarily right in killing
him.
Back where Bambietta
is, she’s clinging to life and her 4 subordinates appear, saying they’ll take
care of her. I’m wondering if she’ll be killed off or if they’ll siphon off her
power so they can fight with more power as a result of her loss. But they speak
as if they want her to stay with them, so I’m getting a feeling of some
horrific fusion, not unlike the Tres Bestias.
The chapter ends as
we see Rukia and Renji falling down to Soul Society. I’m hoping we don’t stay
away from the Komamura resolution for too long, or what happens to Bambietta.
One Piece 729
Bellamy is moving to
kill Luffy, but he’s stopped by a member of Diamante’s group, Dellinger, who
spills the beans that Doflamingo wanted Bellamy killed, since he would’ve
screwed up the assassination anyway, according to the Shichibukai
Law and Doflamingo
are still fighting on the Iron Bridge, relatively evenly matched, each one
countering the other’s attacks with relative ease. Doflamingo suddenly shoots
Law with a Bullet String, disabling him for a bit. Diamante contacts
Doflamingo, explaining that Violet defected, which Doflamingo doesn’t care
about. He orders Diamante to send Lao G to the SMILE factory exit, presumably
to protect it, Diamante apparently strong enough to defeat anyone in the
finals.
Meanwhile,
Doflamingo tells Law that while his plan had promise, he put too much trust in
the Straw Hats, which he thinks was stupid of him. Law responds that he thinks
Luffy will change things, so he staked this battle on that chance.
Zoro and Luffy are
talking, spotted by some Marines who recognize them. They hold back, thinking
the chaos would allow Luffy to slip away. They start forgetting the people they
were going to target, like Don Chinjao and the others, meaning they’ve likely
been turned into toys as well.
Kinemon explains
that the coliseum is surrounded by Marines and the rest of the Straw Hats are
contacted through Den Den Mushi, confirming their relative positions. Franky,
Robin and Usopp are with the Riku Army, Nami, Brooke, Chopper, Sanji and
Momonosuke (as well as Caesar) are on the Sunny and Luffy, Zoro and Kinemon are
in Dressrosa near or in the coliseum. They discuss the relation between Rebecca
and the toy soldier, Franky saying that they have to beat Doflamingo and help
the Riku Army, since the horrible past of the country weighs heavily on him,
even with his loyalty to Luffy. He doesn’t want these soldiers to throw away
their lives. Luffy agrees, saying they can help them and that they’ll all meet
up soon.
Isshou and his men
are getting to Dressrosa by boat and see that a skirmish has broken out in the
middle of the city. It turns out to be Doflamingo and Law, Law defeated utterly
by Doflamingo, who shoots him with a flintlock, seemingly killing him as the
chapter ends. One Piece is on hiatus next week, so there will apparently be a
week without either Naruto or One Piece, but I might be wrong. It may be that
Naruto actually will be back next week, since we’re getting these chapters a
week ahead of schedule, but after that, there may be a break because of the
proximity to New Years in Japan.
Toriko 258
Terrycloth sees
Toriko standing from last chapter, concentrating. He makes a fist and the scene
shifts as he lingers on his failure, I would have to guess
We see a frozen mountain
of ingredients, a huge mass of ice hundreds of meters tall. Nono has the
ability to freeze ingredients and preserve their flavor, and they managed to
protect it from the Meteor Spice. They move to start getting the ingredients,
Tengu going to Gourmet World for their specific ingredients to help with the
potential famine.
Starjun and the
other Bishokukai are moving back to their headquarters. They’re shocked to see
it on fire, Grinparch ordered to put them out, but hesitating. I would have to
guess that Coco put a slow acting poison in him.
We shift scenes to
where Mohyan Shai Shai is talking to Zombie Frohze about the concept of human
taste as a source of human vitality. They also explain that this is one of
three things they need: human taste, the cooking method and the vehicle to go
to the final land. This all seems to connect to what Acacia was talking about
with conspiring with the Blue Nitro and needing Frohze’s skill. The other
members of Neo are talking about the eventual solar eclipse and the appearance
of GOD. Ichiryuu was trying to sabotage their organization with spies, but it
didn’t work. Frohze suggests a celebration is in order. The group heads out,
revealing that they have a sizeable amount of members, at least half of them
from Bishokukai, the others from IGO or elsewhere.
Zebra and Sani are
talking about the aftermath of the battle. Coco appears after months of no
signs of him being alive, his hair stark white and stunning them as the chapter
ends. I can at least assume this has to do with his survival of the fight and
poisoning Grinparch.
Fairy Tail 361
Mikero runs away from Jackal, the demon chasing him as Wendy
and Lucy move to defend him. Wendy attacks with Sky Dragon’s roar, but Jackal
causes an explosion in front of him to block it. Lucy summons Scorpio, but
Jackal explodes the area around his Sand Buster, blowing him away. Jackal then
explains that they don’t use magic as demons, but more like high level curses,
so regular mages don’t stand a chance
He knocks Lucy and Wendy away, going after Mikero. Lucy
manages to stand up, ordering Wendy to heal Natsu while she goes after Jackal.
Mikero goes into town, begging someone to hide him, but
Jackal finds him. Mikero insists he doesn’t know anything, just wanting to stay
with his grandchild in peace, Jackal observing that he left that grandchild
behind.
Lucy starts to open a gate, but Jackal reveals that he put a
landmine curse under Lucy, so if she moves, it’ll explode. Jackal then captures
Mikero and another citizen in bubbles that serve as bombs and orders Lucy to
pick who survives. The other citizen is pregnant, but Mikero insists he’s the
one they came to protect and he’s more important. Lucy’s in a bind and there’s
only 10 seconds left.
Suddenly, Natsu bursts in, “choosing” Jackal, attacking him
and dissipating his curses. Mikero Is relieved that he’s saved, Natsu punching
him on the head for being so selfish. Jackal points out that Natsu punched him
again, but Natsu has a trick this time, eating the explosion through his arm
somehow and then letting it explode that way, so he’s not hurt as badly. The
chapter ends as he and Jackal square off again.
