Magi 201
We’re back to Magi after a 2 week break. We start with Aladdin getting some new
clothes from Yamraiha. He comments they’re not the best, which she resents. She
also gives him Mogamett’s staff, which he’s shocked at. But Yamraiha explains
that the people of Magnostadt gave him the staff along with their hopes, which
Aladdin promises he’ll fulfill. He also comments briefly that the staff was
shortened for him a bit roughly, Yamraiha saying it’s fine, since it’ll be
great for casting spells regardless.
We shift to Sharrkan and Alibaba fighting, Alibaba seemingly
on the ropes, but he uses Magoi manipulation to stop Sharrkan’s Household
Vessel from working, which impresses his master, but he also chides him for
having other masters besides him. Toto comments that Alibaba’s ki sword is
still undeveloped, only able to use it around the hilt, while she can use it
around her whole sword. She notes that Morg is a little awkward around her, but
after Morg says she’s not good around new people, Toto says she should relax,
since there aren’t many female gladiators, so Toto wants to talk with her.
Alibaba told her a lot about Morg, like that she was cute, which stuns the
Fanalis.
A month passes and Alibaba receives an invitation from Kouen
to the summit where the other kingdoms are meeting to discuss things with
Magnostadt. Kouen expects an emissary, guiding him to the island where everyone
will meet. There also won’t be Metal Vessels, so the potential for fighting is
reduced. But Sinbad thinks the letter has another purpose: Kouen wants Alibaba
and Aladdin to be his guide to the island, potentially to gain their power for
himself. But Sinbad also notes that this is specifically a letter for Alibaba
to meet Kouen at Balbadd, where his force is setting out to the summit. Alibaba
thinks this is a bit of a taunt, since he knows that was Alibaba’s potential
kingdom. Alibaba decides to go alone.
Aladdin asks Alibaba if he should go in spite of the
agreement being that Aladdin wouldn’t be on the boat of the emissary to take
Kouen to the summit. Alibaba notes that Kouen’s almost obsessed with the Magi
and he might do something reckless if Aladdin shows up. Kouen could nullify the
ceasefire and cause a war with Sindria Kingdom. He says Morg shouldn’t come
either because it’ll be dangerous in Balbadd, being a territory of Kou.
The next day, however, Morg decided to go in Aladdin’s
place, since there wasn’t anything really stopping her from going. Olba and
Toto also come, so the gang is relatively balanced, even though there’s no
magician coming. The chapter ends as they depart.
World Trigger 36
Osamu’s challenge to Kazama shocks everyone, since he lost
so many times. But someone notices something’s changed about Osamu’s attitude
Osamu knows he doesn’t really stand a chance, but after
finding out about Jin’s giving up his Black Trigger for them, he wants to land
at least one blow
Karasuma explains in a flashback about types of Gunners:
using assault rifles, handguns and even non gun shaped Triggers. The aspect of
controlling every aspect: power, range and speed, related to unusual Gunner
Triggers is impressive, but one has to concentrate a great deal compared to
practicing with normal Gunner Triggers to get consistently better. They’re more
reliable because they even improve range with a built in function. The latter are called Gunner types, while
those that are more unconventional are called Shooters. Karasuma says that
while it might seem that Osamu would be better off as a Gunner, his lack of
high Trion levels means he is better off improvising with his intelligence as a
Shooter than relying on raw power and accuracy with a normal Gunner method.
The overall goal is to use every aspect of the battle and
corner the opponent, control their movements, and otherwise predict the
possibilities. Osamu has figured out one of Kazama’s weaknesses, but he still
has to figure out how to hit him. He goes over the Triggers he has: a Shooter
type Trigger, Asteroid, Shield, Raygust and a Thruster option to extent the
Raygust’s blade. Using all this he vows to land a hit on Kazama
He starts by filling the room with bullets, using the
Asteroid to control the speed so that the room is nearly engulfed by the amount
of bullets. This way, Kazama can’t defend himself while invisible and has to
stop using that option. But even without the Chameleon, Kazama isn’t without
skill to brush away bullets near him. He rushes forward, Osamu waiting for the
right moment. Everyone thinks he’s going to use a large blast when Kazama gets
close, even Kazama predicting this.
Instead of firing the Asteroid, he uses the Thruster to
charge at Kazama, pushing him against a wall. It seems like he’s in danger,
since he’s in range of Kazama’s Scorpions, but he traps him with the infinite
Trion training mode gives him in the Raygust’s shield. He opens a hole and
fires at point blank range with the Asteroid, ending the battle (likely) as the
chapter concludes with Yuma even saying it’s over
This was a nice fight, though Osamu did have an advantage he
wouldn’t have elsewhere: infinite Trion. Kazama will likely bring that up even
as he admits he’s not completely unqualified.
Bleach 555
The chapter starts with Kirinji and Senjumaru waiting for
Ichigo to arrive, who appears in a new outfit made by Senjumaru. He asks if
they’re going to use the Tenchuuren, but Kirinji says they’re going to walk,
Senjumaru revealing a long set of stairs down to the Seireitei. Kirinji says
that it’ll take a week, expecting Ichigo to be angry at him, but he just
accepts it, saying he’ll just have to move quicker to cut down the time.
Ichibei comments on how calm he’s become, explaining that he
won’t have to be there on time, since the Wandenreich have already started
their attack 3 hours ago. Ichigo rushes down, the others commenting that they
couldn’t speed things up, since he was still training 3 hours ago
Kirio manages to throw down a riceball she made for Ichigo
so he can restore his strength. She comments that Ichigo seems like a different
person now. Kirinji agrees saying his reiatsu has stabilized a lot. But Ichibei
says he’s not stronger so much as he’s matured, becoming a true Soul Reaper.
Ichigo explains the situation to Kisuke, saying they have to
keep at it until he gets there. Kisuke accepts, saying they’ll be waiting.
Ichigo apparently pulls off his turban and continues rocketing down the center
of the spiraling stairs.
Shinji’s still confused at Bambietta’s new Vollstandig
(spelling seems to vary between translations, Viz saying Voll Stern Dich),
getting a piece taken out of him by an explosion (hopefully not defeated).
Bambietta’s subordinate Candice even has attained Vollstandig as well, her
power coming out accidentally it seems when the other Stern Ritter used theirs.
Giselle comments that Bambietta’s the most dangerous to use it, since she
finishes battles too quickly. She even says she could end the war by herself
potentially. The chapter ends as we see
her form more clearly from the back.
Naruto 653
Obito responds to Naruto bringing up his name by saying that
since he’s fused with the Juubi, he’s transcended that name, that he’s a second
Sage of the Six Paths.
But Naruto says otherwise. Having seen Obito’s memories, he
sees how similar they are and that their biggest fear was solitude, not having
anyone to rely on. They both wanted to be Hokage, but Obito just wants things
to be easy for him. He accuses Obito of becoming the opposite of a Hokage. But
Obito responds that he was using Naruto to reflect on his past, trying to make
him feel the same despair he experienced years ago.
Naruto retorts that even though they have such common
traits, he’s furious that Obito’s throwing away his past, thinking that will
help him. Obito insists that he’s doing something even more than a Hokage, bringing
about actual peace throughout the world. Naruto asks if he’s sure that what
he’s doing is right, a flashback showing Obito telling Rin that she’s doing a
great service, healing the future Hokage that he thinks he’ll become. He also
tries to hint at his feelings for her before the flashback ends.
Obito says what he’s doing is indeed right. He says going
down an uncertain path can lead to great suffering and if there’s a short cut,
you should take it, especially if it leads to the same goal. Naruto strongly
disagrees, saying that the shortcut isn’t how one should do things as Hokage,
but taking the path in spite of the risks. Obito asks if he’s sure about that,
but Naruto says someone has to venture forth and go down the dangerous path.
That’s what a Hokage is to him: leading by example, taking on the pain for
others and showing them the way forward. He emphasizes this by saying there are
no shortcuts to becoming Hokage and you can’t make excuses to run away from the
responsibility once you become Hokage.
Obito then flashes back to him acting tough in front of Rin,
who says that if he wants her to really stay by his side, he has to show her
his vulnerable aspects as well, which he agrees with as he begins to cry a bit.
Naruto observes that even though Obito said he threw away
his memories, it was his past and the bonds he made with Kakashi, Rin and
Minato that kept him from being overtaken by the Juubi and dominate it with his
own will. He says Obito should come back to the Leaf and accept his penance.
Naruto says Rin would want him to stop running and move on. He extends a hand
to Obito as the chapter ends.
Not sure if Obito will just change sides like this and even
if he does, all it means is that we’ll have Madara to deal with.
One Piece 726
Other gladiators start falling into the pit, including
Ricky, the fighter from before who Rebecca recognized before. Someone singles
him out, thinking he’s the previous king of Dressrosa, Riku. Some of the others
heard he was dead or went insane, but it turns out the captain is right, having
served under Riku before.
King Isabello compliments Riku, since he had saved Prodence
in the past, but since he disappeared, things have become more chaotic, wars
breaking out in nearby countries. Boo says it’s especially bad, since someone
is supplying everyone with weapons for these conflicts, so they’re stoking the
flames; that someone is Doflamingo. The problem is no one knows where the
weapons are made or stored. Boo blames Riku for allowing Doflamingo to rise to
power, he, his brother and Chinjao sent by the king of the Flower Country to
stop the arms trading.
Dagama, Elizabello’s advisor, comments that while they may
have been indebted to Dressrosa before, Riku caused trouble for them as well,
but Tank, the captain from before, says that Dagama doesn’t know the sacrifice
Riku had to make 10 years ago. Various soldiers who served under Riku give him
their respect, even toys who were former soldiers standing up and bowing to
him. This stuns people who thought he was despised by his country, though this
seems to only be citizens, not the military.
Hack is seen talking to someone through a Den Den Mushi,
commenting that with a pit this big, there could be other hidden areas. So he’s
likely on a mission as well from Fishman Island, perhaps.
Suddenly a weird slimy blob grabs Sai and pulls him through
a hole in the ceiling. We see Trebol, one of Doflamingo’s top 4 generals, and
then Sai is seemingly turned into a toy, his will taken away from him. I’m not
sure if Trebol is the cause or if he’s just capturing the prisoners from the
coliseum for the actual Devil Fruit user. His orders suggest that the toys are
being used to build the weapons since they have a lot of strength as fighters, so
they apply that to cheap labor.
Luffy goes to find a better spot to view the Block D
competition, commenting that people look happy there, but others don’t seem
like that. One of the prisoners explains that Doflamingo divides the world into
winners who accept things and losers who try to change things. Those who rebel
are considered trash and put into the depths of the kingdom to hide away from
the world. It’s compared to how the World Government does things, especially as
relates to the Void Century cover-up. Luffy observes that it’s like his
hometown, Gray Terminal.
Back at the Flower Fields, the Tontatta explain their
history. They travelled from their original home to find more resources. Hunted
by humans, they eventually met with Donquixote’s ancestor 900 years ago, who
offered them what they desired in exchange for what became slave labor. This
lasted around the Void Century or so. Afterwards, Riku took over, apologetic
over their suffering, offering them anything in exchange for passing it off as
the legend we hear of today in Dressrosa of the “fairies”
Riku also aided other countries, which made them less than
prosperous, but it was a happy place and everyone was proud of their ruler. The
Tontatta tribe in return, created the Flower Fields. Then Doflamingo returned,
trying to return things to how they were, kidnapping 500 Dwarves. This is the
cause for their great desire to overthrow his regime.
Usopp and Robin comment that the king seems to be hated by
most of the people though. The toy soldier explains that 10 years ago, an event
happened, which was a difficult decision by King Riku, trying to keep things
under control. But everyone misunderstood that and they despise even his
descendants. Doflamingo tried to eliminate most of them, but the toy soldier
managed to protect Rebecca. He managed to keep her hidden for a while, but now
she’s just a prisoner for the coliseum, a source of mockery for the crowds.
Usopp asks who he is that he’d be willing to go through all
this for Rebecca and Riku, the toy soldier revealing he is Rebecca’s father,
though she doesn’t realize this because he was a toy and thus her memories of
him are gone.
Toriko 256
The chapter begins explaining more about the 8 kings of
beasts that reign in Gourmet World. They maintain a balance of power between
the various continents of the Gourmet World, sort of like warlords in a
conflict like the Sengoku in Japan. It’s explained that they not only have the
strength to rule, but a sensitivity to various events, such as shifts in the
earth’s crust, even predicting the future in a way, so they survive many events
that would’ve otherwise made them extinct.
They react with great shock to the awakening of a certain
person, thinking he may be able to threaten even them. It turns out to be
Toriko, coming back from the brink of death. Toriko himself is shocked at how
active his cells are, but at the same time he cannot move, the Meteor Spice
crashing around him as he weeps, presumably because he could not protect
Komatsu.
We see back in Gourmet World Yosaku is fighting Kaitora. The
two are at a standstill and Yosaku asks about Mohyan Shaishai, who Kaitora says
is in their organization, which isn’t the Bishokukai, meaning Kaitora is in
Neo.
Seeing that Midora and Ichiryuu’s fight is over, he
retreats, saying that they just wanted to location of the ingredients in
Acacia’s Full Course, so they could go to the Final Land, which I assume was
what Acacia went to in the past.
He leaves, saying that Teppei also joined Neo, shocking
Yosaku. We see the other 0th Biotope members have been defeated by the
Bishokukai.
Back where Midora and Ichiryuu are, Midora is confused at
what Ichiryuu means by the true enemy. Ichiryuu comments that Midora got some
Nitro and is searching for GOD, but his organization was infested just as much
as the 0th Biotope staff was. He doesn’t elaborate, but we’re meant to conclude
he’s talking about Neo as the major villain overall.
Acacia didn’t predict Frohze’s death, especially since he
needs a chef of her caliber to enter the Final Land. He therefore planted seeds
for the worst case scenario, which was the potential for corruption, which
Midora realized. Ichiryuu explains that Acacia purposefully made Midora search
for the Cure Water, since it apparently has something to do with his Full
Course. And Acacia was in alliance with the Blue Nitro, which has something to
do with Frohze
Midora begins to realize who the true enemy is and then a
Blue Nitro comes in, finishing Ichiryuu off as the chapter ends
I wonder about what Acacia’s alliance with the Blue Nitro
entailed, not to mention why Midora was made to search for Cure Water on
purpose by Acacia. All these questions may take some time to be answered, but
the intrigue is what keeps me reading.
Fairy Tail 358
Laxus’s entrance encourages everyone, Laxus asking about
Tempesta, the others explaining that he’s from Tartaros and after Yajima’s
life. Tempesta then rips off his cloak, revealing his demonic form, which stuns
Laxus. Tempesta attacks, Laxus managing to dodge and counter attack. Tempesta
seems to be at a big disadvantage and Laxus strikes at him with even more
power, slamming him into the ground
The others think about what to do, since they can’t go to
the council. Freed suggests interrogating them at Fairy Tail.
It turns out Tempesta isn’t done yet. He says he’s impressed
that humans have this kind of power, which they didn’t predict. He then says
he’ll have to sacrifice one of his lives, implying that once he does, Laxus
will start to lose.
He turns into a black mist after seemingly exploding. He
then explains that these are magic barrier particles, which act as anti
Eternano material and corrupting the environment. They’ll slowly kill magic
users, who are especially susceptible. He manages to escape, having to return to
headquarters to restore his physical body. The others start to collapse and
Laxus sucks in the particles, saying he’ll hold it off while the others escape.
Back at Fairy Tail, everyone was returned to the guild and
Porylusca explains that they’ll live, but the magic particles have damaged them
extensively. They shouldn’t be alive, especially with the amount that most of
them breathed in, to say nothing of Laxus’ internal damage.
The village is especially bad, even non magic users dying
from exposure, the death toll over a hundred already. Freed asks how the
village is, Makarov lying and saying they’re fine.
Erza reflects that Jellal, being a previous Magic Council
member, is a likely target as well.
The chapter ends as Natsu says this is a declaration of war,
his face enraged.
