 Tokyo Ghoul Re 5

We start with a flashback to Mutsuki’s life, taken in by the CCG after her family was killed by ghouls. She has one request, wanting to live as a man because of her inner gender identity issues.

Mutsuki struggles to get away from Torso, managing to slice him with two Quinque he had hidden (I think calling Mutsuki a male is more accurate in terms of the character’s overall gender instead of merely their given sex). As Mutsuki aims to attack again, Torso stops it by taking it through the hand and stabbing through Mutsuki’s thigh. He then starts pummeling and stabbing Mutsuki more, still thinking he’s just a regular CCG agent.

Urie and Shirazu appear, having tailed Mutsuki and Torso stabs him with his Kagune, driving away. Urie and Shirazu continue to follow Torso’s car, Shirazu unleashing his Ukaku Kagune to fire bullets at the car, missing, since he’s still not practiced with precision.

A cop car comes up behind them, Urie managing to convince them quickly that they are part of CCG and are pursuing a suspect, apparently with signs the police are expected to understand as a matter of course.

The cops pull next to Torso’s car, Torso quickly eliminating them. A blockade by the police is ahead, Torso rushing out of the car with a makeshift “mask”(a shirt on his head).

CCG agents (presumably) attack Torso, Shirazu attacking with more accuracy in his Ukaku assault this time. Urie also attacks, damaging Torso, who manages to regenerate fairly fast, making Urie think he might be Rinkaku type. Mutsuki tries to bring out his Kagune as well, but it fails.

Urie and Shirazu move to capture Torso, but it turns out it’s not Torso, but Serpent, who says he won’t let them capture him so easily as the chapter ends with him revealing a Kagune the two of them are familiar with for some reason.

Seven Deadly Sins 103

Elizabeth tells Hawk that Bartra plans to hold an award ceremony for the Sins, Hawk thinking he should be the main attraction.

Meliodas appears in an outfit Elizabeth made for him, Gowther also in a new outfit Guila chose for him. King hasn’t changed much in appearance, just putting Helbram’s helmet on his hood as a sign of respect for his best friend.

Diane has a new, sultrier outfit, made by either Merlin or King (seems like King made it by his reaction.) And Gowther immediately observes that her underwear is black, since she has a skirt now instead of the one piece suit.

The group moves to work on the festival preparations some more. We see Griamor weeping at Veronica’s appearance, Veronica chastising him for being so “unmanly”, I suppose. Margaret and Gilthunder have what appears to be a very intimate moment.

Fireworks are unleashed as the celebration starts, everyone happy, though some are less than enthused, such as Slader and his friends, since some of their comrades died. Zeal is alone, Guila likely with Gowther, and Hauser, alive even after the grievous injury from before, is on a roof, looking somewhat forlorn.

Elizabeth thinks to herself that the journey she started with Meliodas to find the Sins is over (even though they only found 6 of the 7), but she’s happy with the memories she made with all her friends. The scene ends as the fireworks continue into the night, the party at the Boar Hat winding to a close.

The day after all the partying is complete, Ban leaves early in the morning with his new outfit, a cool gakuran like appearance.

King finds him, noting that he understands his fight with Meliodas, but he also reminds him that Elaine is dead and the forest she guarded is no more, so he wonders where Ban will go. Ban simply says he intends to go to the Fairy King’s Forest ruins as the chapter ends with King still shocked at this plan.

World Trigger 82

People are still trying to help the victims of the Neighbor army attack, some using simple levers to move the debris instead of relying on Trion technology. One of the people assisting is Border’s business director, Katsumi Karasawa (which I think we saw before, but he might not have been named)

Osamu is recovering, Yuma going to look for Replica in the interim. Reiji says that the enemy Neighbor planet is almost out of Earth’s range, but they have to remain vigilant.

Osamu has a flashback to a discussion with Rinji, Chika’s older brother, who says he made a deal with unknown people to try to find out what’s beyond the Neighbor gates. The mission fails, Osamu blaming himself for not going with Rinji to help him, Rinjji saying Osamu isn’t cut out for their mission, since it’s a risk to their lives. Chika’s brother asks Osamu to protect his sister, almost expecting that he might die in his mission and trusting Osamu as a friend.

Osamu is inspired to enlist in Border, not doing well in the enlistment process. He sneaks into Border, attacked by a Trion solder and saved by Jin as we saw in the first chapter of the series.

Osamu awakens and the chapter ends as we see his mother with Chika at his side in the hospital, which shocks the main character, since I guess he’s been estranged from her.

Magi 246

The people who arrived at the base where Hakuryuu and Judal took control of the soldiers are just a regular group. Hakuryuu manipulates the soldiers he put under Belial’s spell to attack the new soldiers. He’s been using Belial to show them illusions and slowly alter their memories and enhance their rage with Zagan’s plant circuits he imbedded in them. He discerned with practice that the range of Belial is only about 10 meters, so he can’t do it in a large area.

Over time, he builds up an army with the soldiers who come to investigate. He lets the Al Thamen clones go, provoking them to move to him. Having failed before in killing Gyokuen, he now thinks he has a good chance.

But the moment he has this intention, an egg cracks in his mind, releasing Phenex. She explains she restricts Hakuryuu under the orders of Kouen. Her ability, besides healing, is also to isolate bloodlust from someone, preventing them from acting on it.

Gyokuen notes back at the Kou capital that Kouen did this after Hakuryuu’s father’s funeral, making it so he can’t attack anyone that is deemed his family, even if not by blood, like Kouen and his brothers.

As Judar becomes frustrated that Kouen is still manipulating them from the shadows, Hakuryuu stabs himself to focus his mind and resist Phenex’s spell, moving in spite of the pain it causes him. The sheer hatred he holds is his major motivation, the only path he thinks he can follow.

Judar moves ahead of Hakuryuu, making some preparations in the capital city of Rakkushou. He then teleports Hakuryuu and his men there and then uses the Long Range Clairvoyance magic to show the memories of Hakuryuu’s Rukh, revealing that Gyokuen killed most of his family.

The chapter ends as Hakuryuu claims to be the true ruler and calls for anyone to follow him and defeat the traitor to the throne, Gyokuen. Next chapter will be their battle (which we know ends in her death)

One Piece 767

We flashback to Doflamingo as a child killing his father, his executives and Vergo also there to aid him.

Marines are reporting to HQ in the present flashback that they can’t get into Minion Island because of Doflamingo’s Birdcage and they see that people are turning on one another.

We see Dorry, apparently a young X Drake, betray the Marines. Doflamingo’s crew searches for Law and Corazon, finding lots of treasure in the meantime.

Law has been hidden by Corazon, who is discovered by Doflamingo’s crew and beaten to within an inch of his life. He reveals to Doflamingo he is indeed a Marine and infiltrated the crew to stop his brother’s plans. He apologizes to Law, making it seem like he’s telling Doflamingo he’s sorry for deceiving him.

Corazon half lies to Doflamingo, who asks where the Ope Ope Fruit and Law are, saying Law ate the fruit and that he’s outside the cage, when he’s actually hidden in the treasure from the Barrel Pirates’ hideout.

Buffalo tells Doflamingo that the Marines picked up a boy (Dorry), Doflamingo thinking that could be Law. His priority is getting back Law, since he intends to make him use the Perennial Operation to make Doflamingo eternal youthful. He says he can’t bring himself to kill Corazon, since he trusted him so much, but also because he resembles their father so much

Corazon stands up as Law flashbacks to him explaining the plan of hiding Law in a treasure chest, saying that Doflamingo won’t kill him. In the present, Corazon says Law has no need to follow Doflamingo anymore, since he’s become his own person. Doflamingo kills him, the group leaving with the treasure.

Corazon struggles to stay alive long enough for his Calm Calm Fruit ability to remain on Law, hiding any sound he makes, so he can escape unseen and unheard from the crew, still crying at the loss of his best friend in the meantime. As Corazon dies, Tsuru’s battleship fires on Doflamingo, Law’s weeping covered up by the sound of the explosions, the chapter ending on this somber moment.

Toriko 301

We start with Bambina, who notices a rock skipping on the water. She moves to where it’s about to hit the land and it hits her in the head. She then starts playing around, jumping around at incredible speeds and, after moving to a mountain, slices it off at the base with a swing of the tail. Bambina then grabs it and proceeds to skip it like a rock. We find out that the sheer speed of it allows the mountain to go the circumference of the earth and by the time it gets back to where it originated, it’s the size of a pebble. This means the rock that hit Bambina was likely once a mountain she threw like the one just now.

Meanwhile, with one of the masters defeated, Area 7 is in chaos, the monkeys rebelling and eating the food freely. Coco says that because of how much flora and fauna, it would make sense to share it. Kaka explains that the sheer degree and size of food in Area 7 is because of PAIR. The original source of PAIR is in Bambina, but much of it flows from the Birth Cry Tree into the soil, creating the fertile nature we see.

It turns out that the Blue Nitro tried to steal PAIR, wanting the nutrients it provided. But this created an imbalance and the Sandoriko was born from mutations afterwards. It simultaneously created chaos and also harmonized the environment, protecting PAIR from the Blue Nitro.

Kaka explains that the Blue Nitro don’t know how to prepare the antigen to the Sandoriko’s pollen and also don’t know the true method to prepare PAIR.

Toriko’s group, according to the Nitro, isn’t the only one who wants to keep Komatsu alive. He has the information in the book from the Gourmet Pyramid, which has preparation instructions for various ingredients. But Toriko says they only want to save Komatsu because he allows them to eat together as the chef preparing their food.

The chapter ends as the group arrives at Birth Cry Tree: and we’re told that next time we’ll learn something amazing about PAIR.

Bleach 605

Shunsui is running around Seireitei, noting that everything is destroyed and wondering if things will return to normal when they revert the Quincy technique. He sees Ukitake, who says they can just fix it afterwards. They both note that the invasion into the Royal Palace has started.

Ukitake mentions that the Kamikake, translated here as Divine Presence, was successfully released as predicted, though we’re not entirely sure what it means, manifesting behind Ukitake as a mysterious seal. If I had to guess, it has something to do with the Soul King. Shunsui goes to the Central 46, possibly to pay a visit to Aizen.

We shift back to Juhabach’s fight with Ichibei, who draws two lines, saying the space between them is where he’ll defeat the Quincy King. Juhabach says he’ll defeat him in 3 paces less than that, calling his name again, which prompts Ichibei to again warn him not to use his name so lightly, a giant hand appearing to try to crush Juhabach.

It knocks the Quincy back, Ichibei appearing behind him, stating the technique’s name, the Heaven Piercing Palm of a Thousand Ri (a measurement in Japan of about 4295 yards). Anything that gets into that range is knocked away.

Juhabach tries to speak, but finds he has been muted. Ichibei says that he already cautioned him and now it’s come to pass, sending him flying with a strike of the giant palm.

But it looks like Juhabach may have figured out what caused his voice to go away, stabbing into his throat. He restores his voice and unleashes a giant bow with multiple arrows notched. Juhabach is stabbed with one of them, which allows him to get back to where Ichibei started, the chapter ending as Ichibei says that he has no choice but to finish Juhabach off

Fairy Tail 408

Marde Guile is shocked at Gray’s revelation of being a Demon Slayer, since it means he intends to slay the Etherios of Tartaros, Zeref’s demons. Gray affirms this as he attacks, a huge burst of ice appearing around the Demon Lord. Marde realizes this is Silver’s power, finding it interesting that fate would have his son fight them. His Thorn Curse is immediately frozen by Gray, Natsu and the others shocked at the new power.

Gray says that he will destroy all of Tartaros in his father’s place, preparing to finish off Marde Guile.

But a new enemy appears from the Prison Flower summoned by Marde Guile last chapter,l knocking Gray away. It’s Jiemma from Sabertooth, reborn as a demon after he was killed by Sting. Unlike Minerva, who had it forced on her, Jiemma chose this process to gain even greater strength. Marde says he’s their strongest servant yet, which provokes Jiemma to say that after he beats the Dragon Slayers, he will kill Marde Guile.

Natsu moves to fight Jiemma, clashing fists. But the Sabretooth leader blows him away, stopping Sting and Rogue as well. But they manage to counterattack, saying they’ll handle him while Gray fights Marde Guile.

Marde Guile tells Gray that the Demon Slayer is too confident, since Marde Guile hasn’t even transformed into his Etherios form. His wounds heal as he changes to a truly demonic form, revealing his true name, Marde Guile Tartaros, the King of Hades.

The chapter ends as Natsu joins in, the face-off between Fairy Tail and Tartaros beginning as the end nears.
