Tokyo Ghoul Re 2-3
The chapter has a nice splash page with what could be Kaneki in recovery
We start with Sasaki going through
notes for a meeting the next day, already tired.
The morning before the meeting,
Sasaki talks to Dr. Shiba, who explains that Urie and Shirazu have the highest
RC cell count of the group, while Mutsuki’s is fairly low. He thinks he might
be unsuitable for the goal of utilizing Ghoul’s traits. He has the same issues
Kaneki had, the Kakugan activating without his willing it.
As Sasaki leaves, we see that his RC
count is over 2500, meaning the theory of him being Kaneki with his memories
lost is more and more compelling, especially with the way his hair has grown
back black from the previous white as well.
The meeting focuses on Hirako Squad
telling Mado Squad to focus on another ghoul besides Torso. The other squad is
Shimoguchi, which mocks the Quinckes for the tip from a citizen that turned out
to just be a dog.
Shimoguchi Squad’s leader questions
why Sasaki’s squad left the taxi driver ghoul alive instead of killing him
swiftly, thinking they might sympathize with the ghouls. Sasaki retorts that
they were only following the principle of not doing excessive harm to the
ghouls, Shimoguchi responding that that’s a simplistic interpretation.
Akira says that it’s her job to
educate her underlings and that she’ll listen to Shimoguchi if she finds it
insufficient. But she also says that Shimoguchi’s squad was taking too long to
progress with the investigation on Torso, so they should be thankful Sasaki was
willing to help.
Hirako stops their argument, saying
they should do a joint investigation. Meanwhile, his squad will focus on the
Serpent Ghoul, ranked S~ (for the moment, as there’s a ~ after it, indicating
it could get higher)
Akira chastises Sasaki for his
kindness towards ghouls, saying that will be his downfall.
Sasaki meets Kuramoto from Hirako Squad,
who explains that the Serpent ghoul is reportedly hunting its own kind.
We see the Serpent ghoul killing
another ghoul, seeking out info about Torso.
Back at the Quincke dormitory,
Sasaki serves a meal to Mutsuki and Saiko (the member we saw playing a game in
the first chapter with the blue hair), trying to help them get stronger. This
revelation that these particular half ghouls can eat human food is interesting,
and suggests the CCG or whoever performed the procedure is improving on Kanou’s
procedure or is selectively medicating them in some way to suppress excessive
RC cell propagation, which restricts their food intake.
Urie and Shirazu argue about Urie’s
not participating as a teammate. Urie explains he’s aiming to get promoted to
the S3 squad, Shirazu not knowing what that is. The two square off as Urie says
Shirazu is too reckless and will get killed by him if he holds him back.
But the chapter ends with a
mysterious person called Chie that offers information on Torso to the two.
Chapter 3 begins with Chie
confirming to Urie and Shirazu that she’s not a kid, actually 24. She also says
that she makes a profit selling the information she acquires, her camera
related to what seems to be just a hobby of photography, or at most a less
sketchy job.
Urie says they could just torture
the information out of her, especially if it’s pertinent to CCG and suggests a
leak in their system. But Chie says it’d be simpler if they just shared the
information as a private exchange. As compensation for her intel, Chie wants
Sasaki’s belongings, particularly with his scent.
She says it’s for her model, who’s
nearby, the person that looks a lot like Shu, though could be like Naki is to
Yamori, a subordinate or follower, who’s been depressed lately. The scent is
important, meaning this could connect back to Kaneki again, since his scent was
noted to be unique.
They get half of Chie’s info, photos
where Torso has hunted, the other info promised after they get Sasaki’s
belongings.
Urie and Shirazu discuss their need
for money and Sasaki’s status as the commander. Their promotions are
irrelevant, since Sasaki will get most of the credit for their investigation
into Torso, so they want to get out of Quinckes Squad eventually. They vow that
they’ll work on their own, not with the squad except as is required.
Sasaki explains their mission, a
daunting task of identifying Torso’s face. Urie and Shirazu outright state
their intent to go solo, Sasaki frustrated, saying he and Mutsuki will find
Torso before them, leaving Saiko to watch the house.
Mutsuki and Sasaki go to Cochlea (a
rendering of the Japanese Kokuria), the high security ghoul prison of the CCG,
a new director impressed at the CCG head’s goal of making investigators that
possess their own Quinque.
They talk with Donato, a SS class
ghoul who provided information to Akira’s previous superior. Donato speculates
that this ghoul has a particular interest in the human torso, which is where it
got the name. The tendency to take the human torso as the primary part of the
meal isn’t common among ghouls, varying by preference. The fact that they avoid
the face makes Sasaki think that they’re trying to avoid the human element and
conceal themselves as a ghoul by feasting on what doesn’t remind them of a job
that requires strong interpersonal skills. The taxi driver was a lead Urie was
following because of this line of thought.
They leave, Sasaki promising to go
alone for a discussion of a separate case.
Sasaki is awoken by his memories of
Donato, who accuses him of being little different from himself, a person who is
considered dangerous, yet useful to the CCG. But when they don’t constantly
prove it, they may be discarded.
Sasaki also observes that Torso is
leaving the legs, only consuming the torso and the arms at most. He speculates
this might involve a need to have a guarantee that the person cannot leave,
even symbolically as a lover. The insecurity and that pattern of behavior makes
Sasaki think they need to find a common thread between the victims.
The chapter ends with a woman
reporting to another taxi driver, called Torso, about a message from the Tree,
possibly Aogiri Tree, which is still functional after the undetermined amount
of time that has passed between the original series and Tokyo Ghoul Re.
Seven Deadly Sins 99-100+ 98.5
As Meliodas manages to stagger to
his feet, Hendricksen uses Dark Nebula again. But as Meliodas remembers
Hendricksen saying Meliodas is too weak to even use Full Counter, he punches
through the attack, stopping Hendricksen and holding him.
Diane uses Rush Rock, throwing a
hail of boulders at her captain. Then King uses Chastiefol’s 4th form, Sun
Flower, and fires a laser at Meliodas and Hendricksen.
Hendricksen wonders why Meliodas
would still protect a kingdom that regards him as a traitor. Meliodas stands,
burned but resolute, Hendricksen preparing to finish him off.
Ban appears behind Hendricksen,
attacking with Banishing Kill and striking Meliodas with a serious wound across
the chest. He asks if that was enough, Meliodas responding affirmatively as a
huge light appears around him.
Hendricksen is stunned, wondering
why he was still slightly uneasy with Meliodas taking all those attacks
intentionally
Gowther explains about the
technique, Revenge Counter. It depends on Meliodas making himself vulnerable to
all attacks and then unleashing the charge from all their energy in one burst.
But it’s risky to Meliodas. Gowther says that Hendricksen’s chance of surviving
this technique is only 0.2%
Hendricksen tries to retreat but is
stopped temporarily by Griamor’s Wall power. The demon smashes it, Meliodas
rushing at him and saying that the only reason Hendricksen got so much power
was by throwing away anything he held important.
The attack strikes Hendricksen,
seemingly destroying him as the chapter ends on Meliodas saying that was the
former Holy Knight’s sin.
There’s an extra chapter that
explains more about Meliodas meeting Hawk after the Seven Deadly Sins were
scattered. Apparently Meliodas had a friend called Wandle, a talking bird,
before he met Hawk. The chapter makes us think Hawk might be Wandle, remembering
that he could fly in a past life. Ultimately Meliodas has the idea for a bar
and sells his Sacred Treasure for the startup cost.
The next main chapter starts with
Hendricksen in disbelief at being defeated by Meliodas, who crashes to the
ground after the demonic druid is blasted into oblivion.
Meliodas tries to play off his
injury, but collapses after standing up, Elizabeth holding him up. The king
appears, Merlin having quickly healed him in the interim of the battle with a
technique from the Demon Realm.
The Holy Knights beg the king’s
forgiveness for being betrayed and deceived by Hendricksen, but he says that
their punishment will be working to aid the people they harmed. Bartra also
thanks the Sins for protecting the kingdom in spite of being branded as
traitors, the Sins saying it was just the right thing to do.
Bartra specifically thanks
Gilthunder for protecting Margaret, Gil saying he wants to talk about a
specific matter later.
Elizabeth is praised by her father
for becoming such a strong willed person. She’s still sad that Hawk is gone,
but Meliodas says he probably doesn’t blame her. Ban tries to apologize to
Hawk, Gowther noting that objectively Hawk’s death was no loss, which
infuriates Ban.
Merlin stops him, saying Gowther
didn’t mean anything cruel in saying that, asking Gowther where his armor is.
She says she’ll replace it later, since it was destroyed in the battle where
Gowther first appeared in the series.
Ban and Meliodas thank Hawk, saying
that he’ll get triple the leftovers if he comes back. Hawk then speaks to them,
coming back in a smaller form as compensation for his resurrection, it seems.
Everyone’s ecstatic, Elizabeth
embracing Meliodas and healing his wounds as the two share a tender moment in
the chapter’s conclusion.
Next week we’ll get 2 chapters,
which is awesome.
World Trigger 79-80
Viza is astounded, figuring out that
Yuma was always in a Trion body even before he switched with the Weight
Trigger.
Yuma heads towards Border HQ as Viza
contacts Hyrein and Mira, telling them that someone with a Black Trigger is
headed their way and that Organon is safe. Replica tells Yuma his combat body
is gone, since he’s almost out of Trion, Yuma saying he’ll use seals and long
range attacks instead.
Hyrein contacts Mira, asking about
Chika’s location. Mira explains she took out Replica, the Meeden Rabbit, and
has crippled Osamu.
Osamu talks to Replica, resolved to
go through with the plan, since if Miwa is defeated they won’t stand a chance.
A Rabit defeated earlier is thrown
towards Hyrein. Osamu uses the cover of Replica’s Black Rabit to avoid Hyrein’s
attacks. Hyrein cubifies it, Mira attacking Osamu. But he turns off his
Trigger, escaping her Trion attacks in a regular body for now and immune to Alektor’s
attacks.
Hyrein tells Mira to get Osamu while
he moves to finish off Miwa, utilizing one of Mira’s portals. But Miwa fires
Viper into it, damaging her. She manages to make a wormhole and move Miwa away
from the battle. Hyrein prepares to kill Osamu to get Chika’s cube.
Both Yuma and Miwa ask Replica where
the enemy is. Yuma creates a quintuple strength Bolt, while Miwa reveals he
managed to acquire Jin’s Fujin Black Trigger. The chapter ends as it’s only 7
seconds till the future crossroads
The next chapter starts with Osamu
still running towards Border HQ, wondering why Hyrein is after him, since Miwa
was fighting him before.
But Mira gathers her remaining
Trion, stabbing Osamu through his real body and stopping him.
Replica tells Osamu to go through
with their plan, throwing him into Mira’s portal into the Neighbor’s ship. He
can take down its systems much easier, leaving them an opportunity to survive
while his extension unlocks Border HQ’s door. But it will also put Osamu’s life
in danger even if it manages to protect Chika.
Hyrein is shot at by some lower rank
Snipers, serving as a diversion. Hyrein notes Yuma’s location, thinking he can
avoid his attacks. But he’s suddenly struck all around by another set of
attacks, different than Yuma’s.
Turns out it’s Miwa, using Jin’s
Fujin Trigger. And what is likely Yuma’s attacks strike Hyrein right
afterwards, doing even greater damage.
Osamu throws Replica into the
Neighbor ship as he immediately infiltrates it, sending a return home command.
They have 60 seconds until the ship launches and Mira can’t override it. Hyrein
picks up Chika’s cube, but it’s actually a decoy, Chika’s switched when Osamu
attacked with Chika’s Trion a few chapters ago.
Mira is commanded to pick up Viza,
but leave Hyuse, the group giving up on Chika for now.
Replica tells Osamu that this is
goodbye and that he should take care of Yuma in his place.
The chapter ends as the Neighbor
ship leaves, the skies clearing, and all Replica’s extensions disappearing as
Osamu is left near death.
Magi 244-245
Hakuryuu is struggling with the
black Rukh in his heart, trying to reach out to the visions Belial creates. He
thinks to himself that his sister was with him, realizing something was wrong
with their kingdom, but then decided to do nothing. It goes further than that:
she gained power from the dungeon and not even seeming to care that Kouen’s
group was allied with Al Thamen.
He demands to know why she chose
inaction against them. She responds, as part of his mind that Belial is
bringing forth, that she thinks Hakuryuu has to throw away his hatred and ally
with the others to stop this great evil threatening the world.
Judar tells Aladdin that he knows
his true path is to fight against Al Thamen, but inside him, he curses his
fate, that he was chosen instead of the other Magi.
Hakuryuu starts to fall, scrambling
to get up, but tearing his fingernails off. He says everyone else is wrong,
that his voice can’t reach them, that they won’t help him. He’s saved by Judar,
Hakuryuu then saying that even if he knows it’s the right thing to do, he can’t
move forward with this darkness in him. And he resolves that if the world hates
him and Judar, they will destroy the world and recreate it.
Hakuei still begs her brother to
come with her, but he chops her and Morgiana down, saying he will kill them
soon enough in reality.
Belial says he cannot accept them as
king vessels, but Judar says it’s not important, that he’ll forcefully get the
Djinn’s power. He emits the black rukh, seemingly acquiring Belial. Hakuryuu
agrees to go with Judar’s plan, even if he just happens to become king. The two
exit, Hakuryuu becoming the 3rd person (besides Sinbad and Kouen) to conquer
two dungeons as the chapter ends.
Naruto 697-698
Sasuke says his attack of Indra’s
Arrow (reference to Hindu mythos, I believe) will finish off Naruto. The two
attacks collide, a huge explosion resulting that resembles a hurricane. The shockwaves can be felt miles away where
Kakashi and Sakura are.
Sasuke and Naruto fall to the
ground, their chakra nearly exhausted after Sasuke uses Amaterasu and Naruto
brushes it away with the Bijuu’s power, his Sharingan starting to bleed. Naruto
manages to summon Shadow Clones with the last of his chakra. He starts to use
his Shadow Clone combo, but Sasuke counterattacks.
After Naruto’s real body flies away
from the attack, Sasuke uses a seal under one of his arm covers to summon 3
shuriken, which he uses on the remaining 3 shadow clones. He stabs one with
Raikiri, Naruto’s real body punching him from behind.
Sasuke moves to use Raikiri, but his
chakra is running out, the attack fizzling. Naruto has a Rasengan, but trips,
the attack wasted on the ground. The two start to fight it out with pure melee
hand to hand combat. Sasuke lands a solid punch and as he’s about to do
another, Naruto headbutts him, standing back up.
The two continue to trade blows as
they flashback to their duel as academy students and the idea of respect
between ninjas in a duel.
Sakura awakens, Kakashi explaining
that her teammates are having their final battle.
Sasuke and Naruto throw weak punches
now, collapsing from exhaustion. But as Kurama is about to give Naruto more
chakra, Sasuke reveals that with the Rinnegan and Sharingan combined, he can
drain Naruto’s chakra. The chapter ends as Sasuke prepares Raikiri and attacks
Naruto, ready to finish him off.
I’m betting Sakura will come in,
with the brief reference to her in this chapter. She may actually have some
relevance in how this ends, though I’m not sure how.
The next chapter begins as Sasuke’s
attack looms closer to Naruto, as the blonde shinobi contemplates that he still
has to do something to stop Sasuke.
Naruto punches Sasuke with
impressive strength, knocking him into a nearby wall. Sasuke just wants Naruto
to fall, but Naruto insists he won’t give up.
Kurama offers Naruto his remaining
chakra, leaving him without any other support from the Bijuu. Sasuke prepares
to utilize Kagutsuchi, Naruto creating a Rasengan. The two attacks clash, Naruto
still saying he wants to save Sasuke.
Sasuke wakes up, both he and Naruto
injured to a point they’re virtually powerless to even move. As Sasuke asks
Naruto why he continues to try to help him, and what he even means when he
calls Sasuke a friend, Naruto responds that he feels strong empathy for
Sasuke’s suffering, trying to take everyone on by himself. The pain he feels in
realizing Sasuke’s horrible circumstances compels him to act.
Sasuke thinks to himself that Naruto
used to annoy him, but his persistence in trying to connect to people, even
initially just through pranks and such, influenced Sasuke. Getting into a team
with Naruto and seeing his resolve slowly started to make Sasuke feel pain as
well with Naruto’s suffering and how much he made him remember his family that
he lost, that Naruto was now like family to him.
Naruto became Sasuke’s rival as he
became comparably stronger, Sasuke wanting to become like him in a way because
they gained that strong bond of friendship over time. Naruto wasn’t jealous of
Sasuke at all; instead, Sasuke envied Naruto’s strong force of personality.
The two realize that they’ve slept
until morning after their last clash, Sasuke laughing at Naruto still wanting
to fight. He accepts his loss, saying he accepts Naruto now. But he also seems
to think he’d be better off dying and leaving Naruto to carry on their destiny
from the Sage of Six Paths.
Naruto responds that they should all
work together, Naruto trusting Sasuke not to betray them again.
The chapter ends as the two conclude
their argument with Sasuke calling Naruto by his old nickname before Shippuuden,
also revealing that they severed most of their attacking arms with the last
attack clash.
We’re supposed to get 2 chapters for
the conclusion of Naruto, though it doesn’t seem to announce that officially at
the end of the chapter. We’ll see.
And apparently the final movie won’t
be related to the manga ending: the main storyline will be completed in the
manga and the movie will give us a timeskip story when they are older (Naruto
isn’t Hokage, apparently, since that would take more time than passes between
the manga ending and the movie)
One Piece 765
Doflamingo asks Corazon what’s going
on, whether he’s with Law and if he’s found any cures for the disease. Corazon
confirms he is with Law, but that he hasn’t found any doctors that could cure
it.
Doflamingo tells Corazon to bring
Law back, since he’s gotten info on the location of the Ope Ope Fruit. He says
he wants Corazon to eat it, not knowing he already has a Devil Fruit, since he
trusts him the most.
But back at Doflamingo’s HQ, he says
he’s suspicious that the Marines have stopped following them in the same half
year Corazon’s been away, thinking he may be feeding them intel.
Corazon tells Law about the Ope Ope
Fruit’s ability and that he should eat it instead of him, since eating a second
Devil Fruit while possessing the power of another has been established to kill
you. Also, with Law’s medical background, he can best use the fruit’s power to
alter the human body in surgical ways.
Corazon knows that Doflamingo has
probably figured out he’s a traitor and intends to use him to gain Eternal Life
with the Ope Ope Fruit’s ultimate surgery. The plan is for them to steal the
Ope Ope Fruit and have Law eat it to cure his disease.
Corazon contacts Sengoku, asking
about the location of the pirates who plan to do the exchange with the Marines.
He says Doflamingo’s involved as well, Sengoku telling him the time and
location. Corazon plans to meet Doflamingo on a nearby island 3 days before, so
Sengoku says they’ll ambush them. Meanwhile, Corazon plans to give Sengoku info
about Doflamingo’s contacts in the underworld at a later time.
But Law suddenly falls deathly ill,
the Amber Lead poisoning advancing quicker than he expected. As they go through
a typhoon, Law asks again if Corazon if a Marine, Corazon saying he isn’t. He
explains that if they steal the Ope Ope Fruit, they’ll make enemies of everyone
involved, including the Marines and the World Government along with Doflamingo.
Corazon contacts Sengoku three days
before the exchange, planning to steal the Devil Fruit from the pirates who are
doing the exchange with the Marines.
Law flashes back to Corazon
explaining more of his Calm Calm Fruit’s power, making anything silent, even
explosions. Law says it’s lame, but Corazon says it works well for getting a
good sleep, even if it’s not as combat relevant.
Corazon invades the pirate’s
temporary stronghold, aided greatly by his ability to be stealthy, getting the
fruit and escaping as the chapter ends on him being caught by the pirates after
a usual clutz moment.
One Piece is on hiatus next week,
just at this critical moment.
Toriko 298-299
We see the Nitro more clearly,
different than other Nitro, somewhat like Chichi, and there’s the mysterious
spiked plant from last chapter that revealed the pitfall.
The Nitro explains this was a
civilization of humans enslaved by Nitro, much like Hex Food World. Sani is worried about trusting the Nitro, but
Toriko doesn’t sense any hostility and the Nitro saved them from the monkeys
with the pitfall.
They reach what was once the dining
hall, Toriko smelling a lingering scent that was happy, meaning the
civilization was once filled with smiling people, banquets held every day. A
vision appears before Toriko, a person offering him a drink, disappearing
abruptly.
The next location is the drawing
room, where Toriko recognizes the murals from somewhere. The Nitro offers them
a seat and introduces itself as Kaka, one of only 3 Nitro Taste Hermits besides
Chichi, the other called Jiji. They were once called the Gold, Silver and
Bronze Hermits back in the day.
They left recipes for ingredients,
particularly those with special preparation requirements, as murals all over
the world. Toriko recalls such a thing from a cookbook they found with Komatsu
and Zebra in the Gourmet Pyramid.
Zebra remembers a Nitro left, Kaka
saying it was him, Komatsu having restored him from cryptobiosis. He explains
it’s risky, since they can be sealed away by changes in the environment and he
had to get sustenance after his had just ended.
Coco asks Kaka why Nitro would carve
murals into places where humans had escaped Nitro slavery. Kaka explains that
not all Nitro are evil or enslaved to the Blue Nitro. The Red Nitro are truly
oppressed, vocal cords crushed and forced to only seek out ingredients. But
some Nitro participated in the human civilization, along with monkeys, a great
era.
They ask what caused such a
civilization to crumble, Kaka explaining it was partly a rebellion of the
monkeys. But before he can state the true cause, Komatsu starts to get worse.
The group manages tostabilize him, but they’re worried, since they can only
use the manmade organs they have for about a week.
Kaka says that since they need to
get PAIR, he’ll tell them the method, which even the Blue Nitro don’t know.
He’ll watch over Komatsu while they go get it. Toriko says they can’t leave
him, but Kaka says the place they’re heading to is one of the most dangerous in
Gourmet World, 100 G Mountain. The gravity is so intense that the oxygen is
gone, making it so one couldn’t even leave. And worse, at the top is Monkey
King Bambina, a part of whose body is PAIR.
The chapter ends as Toriko is still
resolved to bring Komatsu, to show what a great chef he is to Bambina.
The next
chapter has Kaka press a panel on the wall, revealing a secret passage, one of
many. This one leads the furthest inland, so they can make haste to 100 G
Mountain.
Kaka
explains about the weird piranha plant looking flower: it’s called a Sandoriko
and it will be very important to them as a trump card. If they don’t use it
right, it could be fatal.
The Nitro
further explains that there were many mass extinction events on Continent 7,
and most of them were caused by the pollen of the Sandoriko.
The group
appears on the surface, attacked by a Saphire Ant, who runs when it sees the
Sandoriko. Zebra says it scared off the monkeys before as well.
Kaka
explains that the Sandoriko’s pollen causes a massive allergic reaction in
anyone who breathes it in. Sani thinks it’s unbelievable, touching the flower’s
thorns, which makes it spray pollen in Toriko’s face. The others are affected
as well, Kaka managing to help them with medicine.
She
(apparently Kaka is female) warns them that they can’t use it too often or the
antigens will change. The flower they have is selectively bred to be weaker by
comparison, but still works as a deterrent, since the creatures of the
continent have an almost genetically innate fear of the flower from the
centuries.
The group
rides on a Megaton Dandelion fluff while Kaka explains more about Continent 7.
It’s comprised mostly of mountains and the 4 masters of Enbu below Bambina have
divided it into 4 areas. They are tyrants, apparently having most of the food
for themselves at the top.
Suddenly,
we see a huge group of monkeys, the same ones that attacked the group earlier,
all of their heads smashed into the ground, dead. Coco says they did this to
themselves. Since they attacked without permission, they killed themselves before
they could be punished. Only the Iai Aye is alive, apparently commanded to
attack them. It attacks, the Sandoriko unleashing its poison again.
Toriko tells Kaka to help it, thinking this continent is horrible with the arrangement of the Enbu pyramid system. Iai Aye is touched by Toriko’s kindness, the Bishokuya offering him a decision to either stay or run.
The
chapter ends as Goritaurus, one of the Enbu masters, appears, Toriko saying
he’ll beat him to start crushing this continent’s rules.
Bleach 602-603
The
chapter starts with an explanation of the concept of a lethal dose. Since there
are so many variations between beings, the idea of a median lethal dose is more
commonly used, since it can assess what it would take to kill half a
population.
Askin
explains that his power is the Death Dealing, the kanji for it meaning “lethal
dose”. His power is able to calculate the lethal dose of any substance and then
increase or decrease the amount required.
Ouetsu doesn’t understand, but Askin says it won’t matter as he’ll kill
him soon.
Askin
licks his blood, reducing Ouetsu’s tolerance to his own blood. It will slowly
begin to kill him as if poison. He continues to imbibe his blood, seemingly
getting stronger by increasing the level of a lethal dose in his own body
(though this is speculation on my part).
Askin then
pulls out a bow from his wristband, saying that the way he acted was sort of a
facade to throw people off, to make them think he was an underling.
But Ouetsu
thanks him for the explanation, cutting his throat and starting to bleed. Since
he just needs to not have as much blood as a lethal dose, he’ll just bleed it out
until it’s below that level.
But Askin
says that he made the lethal dose below 2 liters, since he guessed that with an
average of 60kg of weight for Ouetsu, losing half the amount of blood per kg,
in his case around 2L, would kill him.
Ouetsu
seems to be in a bad situation, but calls Tenjirou, who uses his hot spring
water. The red water can replace blood, so Ouetsu is in no danger because of
that.
Askin is
slashed lethally by Ouetsu this time, the chapter ending as Askin notes he
underestimated the Zero Squad, Ouetsu preparing to fight Juhabach head on.
As Juhabach starts to attack in the
next chapter, Ouetsu thinks that they know very little about his skills, only
the fight with Yamamoto a thousand years ago and the fight with his double more
recently. His first impulse is not to view him as an easy threat, trying to
just cut off one of his arms at most. The tree cage explodes with energy as we
shift scenes.
Giselle is stumbling away from the
battle with Mayuri, drinking Bambietta’s blood (which makes her more a Vampire
than a Zombie to me). Bambietta tries to calm her mistress down, but Giselle
just slams her head into the ground. Afterwards, she hugs her, saying how much
she loves her as a zombie and a subject for her abuse.
Liltotto finds her, not surprised
she’s alive. Giselle shows what is likely her Vollstandig wings (skeletal in
appearance), asking what happened to Liltotto, who explains she ate Pepe after
he tricked her. According to her, Meninas and Candice are injured, though not
dead.
We see the bespectacled Quincy with
the mustache, called Accutrone by Liltotto, pointing a sword at the Gluttony.
His full name is Robert Accutrone, the N. He’s despairing that Juhabach left
for the Soul Palace and didn’t take them. He takes it to mean that Juhabach has
deemed them worthless and only beneficial to empower himself further with
Auschwerren (German is unclear, since this is from a Japanese katakana
rendering).
Robert is struck by the beam of
Auschwerren, left with nothing but bones. Other Quincy are struck by it as well
across the battlefield, their powers taken.
Liltotto demands to know what the
Stern Ritter are to Juhabach, Juhabach answering Ouetsu’s similar question; they
are comrades, who help each other. Using the power from those he stole it from
below, he begins to apparently revive the elite squad near him so they can
continue to fight Zero Squad as the chapter ends.
Fairy Tail 405-406
We go back 20 minutes to before Face is activated,
with Igneel and Natsu’s fights against Acnologia and Marde Guile starting.
Marde Guile says he doesn’t even see Natsu as any
threat, only the dragons warrant that. Natsu dodges the demon’s attack and
strikes, but he easily blocks it, saying he’s nothing like a dragon and sends
him crashing into the ground, creating a huge hole.
Igneel, worried about Natsu, almost gets hit by a
blast from Acnologia. Acnologia talks, revealing the past we heard about before
of his slaying of countless dragons and becoming one himself. He swears he will
destroy Igneel, seeing him as another enemy.
Marde Guile moves to finish off Natsu as he falls
through the giant hole, but Sting and Rogue save him from the Thorn
attack. They suggest the three of them
team up, but Natsu refuses, saying Igneel entrusted him with the task. Sting
and Rogue then say they’ll just compete with Natsu to see who beats Marde Guile
first.
The Dragon Slayers all attack Marde Guile, but he
blocks or dodges them as before. But Rogue’s attack allows Natsu to take
advantage of the opening and strike. Rogue then follows up with another attack
which makes contact, Sting also attacking and slamming the demon into a wall.
Marde Guile stands up, frustrated at dragons
disrespecting him by acting as they please in his castle, the chapter ending as
he says he finally remembers the fury he felt in the past, Natsu saying that
they’re finally even.
The next chapter starts with Elfman, Lisanna, Jet
and Droy all beating up Lamy’s many clones, Warren unable to fight with his
Telepathy magic. They finish off the
last one, Lucy finding them in her Aquarius outfit.
She explains where everyone is heading: Levy, Gajeel and Juvia are getting the ingredients to heal Laxus’ group to Porylusca, that Gray has gotten new powers and Natsu’s father Igneel is fighting Acnologia outside.
Wendy appears, telling them they still have Face to
deal with, Charle further saying there are a huge number of them.
Back at Marde Guile’s fight with Natsu, Rogue and
Sting, he says he was suppressing his emotions, since they dull thought and
affect his focus. Anger makes him especially vulnerable. He places the Book of
END down, sitting on his throne, noting how he is just a temporary replacement
for END, the true lord of Zeref’s demons. The demon lord says he’ll erase that
emotion from his heart and their existence from his vision, engaging his Thorn
Curse again.
The power is much greater, Natsu not able to dodge,
barely grabbing on. He bounds around the Thorn attacks, launching a fiery punch
at the demon lord, who knocks him away with an unseen barrier.
Sting and Rogue are attacked by Marde Guile with
something that seems different from his Thorn curse. Natsu manages to move
forward to attack again with Fire Dragon’s Horn Strike, followed by Fire
Dragon’s Roar as Marde blocks the first attack.
The two are blasted away by the force, Natsu calling
Sting and Rogue to attack while the demon is open. They team up to fire Holy
Shadow Dragon’s Flash Fang, which Marde Guile starts to absorb. But Natsu
attacks again with Lightning Flame Dragon’s Firing Hammer before he can unleash
the power.
Marde Guile still manages to knock him away with
relative ease, as if the attack had no effect even as it made contact. He sits
back on his throne, saying that if that’s all they can manage, they should give
up, because he hasn’t even really tried, showing how powerful he is.
Warren, meanwhile, thinks it’s hopeless, since his
Telepathy magic has, at best, a range of 3 miles, so he couldn’t use it to
execute Wendy’s plan to contact all the mages on the continent.
But a voice speaks to them, saying they have a trump
card as well. The chapter ends as Makarov reveals Mavis’s actual body sealed in
crystal, revealing her as the Lumen Histoire of Fairy Tail.
