Disclaimer: These aren’t official translations, merely scanlations. Buy localized or original manga to support the author if at all possible. Know the difference between piracy/theft and sharing without personal profit.

So Samon the Summoner, a gag manga that came out late 2015, has ended in the recent issue of Shounen Jump. I’m still reading the chapters as they come out through scanlations and I’m skeptical that Viz would pick it up at all, since gag manga aren’t something they usually do (they dropped Gintama, for instance)

Boku no Hero Academia has an unexpected break this week (anime is going on for 2 cour, so Horikoshi may be distracted in part by supervising that or other reasons)

Dr. Stone 14

We see that Senkuu has put together the treehouse, thinking he needs to take a much deserved rest after all this exertion.

He thinks that he needs someone with more stamina and strength or he can’t hope to progress things to advance society.

After discovering what he thinks is Taiju’s hand, Senkuu digs him out, trying to figure out how to revive him.

But he also wonders what caused the petrification to begin with, thinking it could be an alien attack, a military weapon or a new strain of virus. All he knows for certain is that only swallows and humans appear to be affected, thinking he has to search for some kind of logic behind it. Like those who discovered the nature of volcanoes and lightning, he has a new scientific discovery to make

Senkuu thinks he may have degraded over time, but then deduces that the shell he broke out of must be the outer part that wore away and couldn’t return to the cellular form that was able to be released, serving as protection

But he then notes that there must be some external source that was degrading the stone in parts for it to break apart as it did and leave behind some scars on his face when certain fragments came off.

Checking back at the location, he discovers how nitric acid from the cave nearby is able to break his stone, but finds it doesn’t work on the others.

It occurs to Senkuu that he was still conscious the entire time, his body needing some energy from the stone that allowed him to think all that time. So he continues to experiment, trying to find that particular substance involved.

We see Senkuu even emphasize E=MC squared, by taking some of his blood and using a nearby fire, burning it into his makeshift shirt as we saw when he first appeared to Taiju.

He persists in his experimentation, telling Taiju’s stone body that he won’t give up.

The chapter ends as Taiju reflects that same mentality, Senkuu waking up from his flashback.

We Can’t Study 16-17

Yuiga, Takemoto, Uruka and Fumino are excited about summer for various reasons, but Yuiga is suddenly called to meet with Kirisu sensei. She asks him about the progress of Rizu and Fumino, Yuiga confident that they’ve progressed well in the time he’s been their tutor.

Thinking about the fact that Kirisu was Rizu and Fumino’s first tutor, Yuiga recalls briefly talking with them about what she was like, both saying she was cold.

Kirisu seems to think that Yuiga’s been putting in his best effort, but then brings up that Yuiga kissed Rizu, wondering if that was him trying his best as well. Yuiga insists that was an accident, but Kirisu doesn’t believe him.

Fumino is eavesdropping, only catching bits and pieces. But she’s heard enough that she intrudes on the interview, Kirisu saying she should be brief about her thoughts.

Fumino voices her opinion that Yuiga works hard as their tutor and she wants him to continue helping them. But as she brings up the incidents where Yuiga touched her bare stomach before or when he saw her bra after she had sweated when she was sick, Kirisu cuts her off, asking her to leave.

Rizu then comes in, saying that Yuiga shouldn’t be blamed for any of this. Kirisu asks about how she can explain the sexual misconduct she has heard about, Rizu thinking she’s talking about when Yuiga was hiding in the girl’s bath. She starts to talk about that, but is also sent out by Kirisu.

Even Uruka pops in, but is swiftly told to leave, Yuiga thinking he may get expelled at this rate.

But Kirisu surprises him by saying that she believes that it was just an accident, since Fumino and Rizu wouldn’t have defended him normally, since they wouldn’t want to engage with Kirisu after their unpleasant experience with her as a tutor. She’s uncertain about a few things, but genuinely thinks Yuiga has done a good job so far.

Kirisu warns Yuiga that she still doesn’t accept him as a tutor, thinking his methods are naïve and dooming his students to failure, but Yuiga thinks there’s still a chance. However Kirisu says she’s well aware of the problems that can come from neglecting your talents for sentimental reasons, having suffered as such in the past herself in a similar situation.

Yuiga grabs her hand as she leaves, noticing scratches and bug bites, deducing that she is actually kinder than she appears, thinking she must’ve gone to look for Rizu when she was out in the rain by herself before

Kirisu retorts that she did it out of duty, not desire for students to like her, Yuiga concluding she’s a problem to deal with. Kirisu threatens to report him, Yuiga quickly apologizing as he leaves.

The trio of students asks how it went, Yuiga confirming that they’re good to continue studying together. Kirisu thinks to herself that she let her guard down, not wanting students to see her as vulnerable.

Later, Yuiga is shopping and meets Kirisu, discovering she lives nearby. Seeing her eating some bread in relaxed clothes makes him think she’s not as harsh as she seems.

Kirisu thinks she’s failed in a way, Yuiga offering her a curry bun, but Kirisu saying she doesn’t like spicy things. Yuiga thinks that’s odd, the chapter ending as they continue their awkward conversation.

We have an extra at the start of the next chapter with Uruka and Fumino commenting that Rizu’s bust is more prominent with the summer uniforms, Yuiga peeking at it a bit to Uruka’s irritation

The main story begins with Yuiga and Uruka on a bike rushing somewhere, the clock ticking to some destination they have to get to.

Flashing back a few days, we see that Yuiga’s had to make his lunch much simpler because Mizuki is away for club activities and can’t make his lunch, Takemoto a bit concerned as well along with Fumino

Uruka wakes up early the next day, making a boxed lunch for Yuiga. Her mother teases her, realizing that she changed her sleep schedule to do something special for the boy she likes.

At school, Uruka wonders if Yuiga will like her bento, but hesitates to give it to him, thinking he might not have such a positive reaction. But she’s thwarted for the next few days from actually handing it over, Yuiga’s male friends as well as Fumino and Rizu giving him lunch because of how nice he’s been to them.

On the last day before Mizuki comes back, Uruka decides to wait to run into Yuiga where he waits to get bread crusts, but as he shows up unexpectedly, she drops her bag and the delivery men accidentally take it with them. Uruka’s upset at it, beating herself up over the failure she made to even give him the bento (not explicitly talking about the bento, of course)

Kobayashi appears, giving Yuiga bread crusts he bought for him, Yuiga thinking that Uruka’s bag must have something important in it. So he asks to borrow Kobayashi’s bike, rushing to get to the delivery center before the truck to retrieve it, returning to the beginning of the chapter’s events

Yuiga’s pushing himself so much, not fully explaining why to Uruka, though internally he recognized that her sad face meant that he had to help her. Uruka clings to him in spite of him being sweaty, hearing his heart beat at a similar pace to hers, liking the closeness they have.

They seem to have been too late, but it turns out the truck didn’t put the tray of stuff that had Uruka’s bag on it, the two recovering it as they return back.

Uruka hurriedly gives him the lunch, passing it off as her making extra, but as the chapter ends we see that she really put a lot of thought into every part of the bento, even passerby thinking they’re like a couple.

Black Clover 113

The mysterious figure makes up a story about helping an old lady, the Magic Emperor seemingly okay with it. But his assistant Marx seems to think he’s a threat, the cloaked man dodging the attack, others calling him out for being so rude.

Julius tries to pacify things, but the Magic Knight hater continues to be rude, saying he doesn’t respect the Wizard King. He stops to greet Asta briefly, before berating him for being basically useless and handing him a Rainbow Beetle, which assaults him with 7 horrible scents.

Asta tries to protest, others confused at the man who covers his lower face, thinking he couldn’t be like Zachs is, but the Wizard King just asks everyone to confirm their teams, Noelle with Yuno, Sol with Magna, Klaus with Luck and other combinations like Finral with Leopold and Jamon Caseus, who we saw when the Clover Kingdom was invaded much earlier

Cobb, a Spatial Magic user, teleports the group through a gate to the arena, a massive landscape with different aspects scattered across it. We’re told about the lineup, a round robin style tournament, Asta set up to potentially be up against Yuno in the finals if he wins every match in the tournament.

They’re in the first round, Asta ready to fight, but Mimosa and “Zachs” wanting to decide strategy. Mimosa explains that she uses Plant Magic, but before they can go further, the crystal is attacked, seemingly from long range attacks.

Mimosa moves to try and take the crystal elsewhere, but the crystal is struck again.

We see that the three against Asta’s team have used their Crystal, Flame and Stone magic in combination to scope out the crystal’s location with a crystalline telescope and generate an earthen ballista that fires giant flame arrows

The chapter ends as “Zachs” is just lazing around, not interested in the fight as Asta is infuriated that they might be eliminated so early.

One Piece 868

We’re told that the incident where Big Mom seemingly devoured everyone at the orphanage, barely leaving any trace of them, was seen by 2 people. One was a Giant warrior of Elbaf, who returned and told of what happened, the Giants even more distrustful of Linlin than they already were

But the other who viewed everything was Streusen, formerly a member of a pirate crew who had been shipwrecked and survived on the island with his Cook Cook Fruit powers, able to turn anything into ingredients, such as a log into slices of meat. He didn’t want her to starve, so he offered his help to her while they waited for Carmel.

In the present, we see Streusen cry out to Big Mom, since the KX Launchers are going to be used on her in this weakened state. They fire off the missiles as we flashback again

Big Mom tells Streusen that her goal is to make a country where everyone can be equal, to make Carmel happy as her mother, someone who had such a kind heart in her mind.

She discovers she can use Carmel’s Soul Soul Fruit power, seemingly transferred because she ate her whole (a rare occurrence for Devil Fruit powers in general). Streusen encourages her to make the country with such powers, her bounty skyrocketing over the years

Big Mom promises a world of peace if they listen to her, that childlike mentality the only way she can conceive of things, her rise to power based on that simple idea and her monstrous strength growing greater over the decades, a threat to anyone who opposed her.

In the present, we see Big Mom is still so furious at the breaking of the picture, shouting so greatly that she breaks the missiles apart before they even reach her, to Bege’s shock.

The group retreats, Caesar Clown preparing the mirror for them to escape. But as he opens the door into the room, the wind pressure from Big Mom’s screech breaks the mirror

Bege decides he has no other choice, activating a new ability of his Devil Fruit, transforming into a giant castle form, telling the forces to get inside him so they can somehow get away from the Sweet Commanders as the chapter ends

Magi 350

Ugo asks whether they should really make an alliance with a god like Ill Illah, considered evil even by other gods. Aladdin and Alibaba are impressed at Sinbad’s new idea.

Sinbad thinks to himself that he hasn’t fully separated from the militarism that Alma Torran engaged in, not to mention that he himself experienced firsthand in Parthevia. Merely reacting to a threat with more violence doesn’t solve the problem.

But he also wonders if he’s become too influenced by Alibaba in spite of Sinbad being known as a singularity that understands destiny.

Sinbad says he’s still not sure of the plan, since Ugo said the dimension connecting magic was impossible to use.

Ugo qualifies that trying to open a big hole is not possible, but making a much smaller hole for basic communication would be possible, using much less magoi. But he didn’t think of it, since he had no plans of talking with Ill Illah, not to mention he’s not sure of the success rate.

But Sinbad thinks they shouldn’t focus on the success rate, noting that he’s changed from his old ways and thinks they should try in spite of risks.

Aladdin notes that with a hole in the vertical wall, they’ll talk to people from other worlds and with a hole in the horizontal wall, they can talk to those separated by the rukh.

But Alibaba explains he can’t use the magic, since he didn’t design it and Setta even warned him they couldn’t use a living body to activate the magic in the first place

Alibaba thinks they can still do it somehow if they combine their knowledge and efforts, thinking this might be a form of destiny in itself.

Aladdin and Arba agree, though Arba thinks she might change her tone if she hears Ill Illah’s voice again.

Ugo says he’ll join if Aladdin is doing it, but Aladdin wants to hear Ugo’s own opinion. The Djinn is hesitant, just wanting to help Aladdin, to do something and get over his confusion and loneliness from being in the Sacred Palace so long.

Arba thinks the wish is pathetic for someone that guarded the Sacred Palace, even considering Solomon might’ve been wrong to choose him, but Alibaba counters that wishes are valuable regardless of being seen as small or big.

As everyone moves to start, a rumbling shakes the area, Sinbad’s magic to return everything to the Rukh activating. But Sinbad quickly suspends it, saying that his original plan is on hold to investigate Alibaba’s idea.

However even with this, the sun begins to set, suggesting someone else is affecting Sinbad’s magic subtly, David being the most likely suspect in spite of being reduced to a lesser god last we saw him, the chapter ending on this tension.

Seven Deadly Sins 220

The Sins are all partying, Escanor even reciting a poem he made, though no one’s listening to it.

Escanor notices that Merlin isn’t there, asking Meliodas if he knows where she is. The captain thinks she’s just distracted with some experiment, but the Sin of Pride thinks he should go look for her.

The Sin of Gluttony appears, teleporting on her chair as she takes Elizabeth’s offer of a drink.

Escanor tells Meliodas they should toast, the others commenting that it’s like old times, King noting that it’s better, since they have Gowther’s true self and even more companions than 10 years ago.

Meliodas calls for the toast, everyone drinking to the Seven Deadly Sins coming together again.

Diane asks Gowther afterwards about how Demon Gowther brought the Holy War to an end 3000 years ago.

Merlin and Meliodas are confused, Escanor saying that the legends say that the Goddess Clan sacrificed themselves to seal the Demon Clan. Meliodas even confirms that the Coffin of Eternal Darkness was crafted by a giant called Dabuzu.

Gowther says he can’t tell them, hesitating because he’s worried if anyone would even believe him

But Ban asks him if he can explain where he got his habit of crossdressing, Gowther explaining that Bartra once dressed him in women’s clothes and that started it, Bartra sneezing elsewhere.

Elizabeth thinks about how she remembers learning from Cain that there was someone called Elizabeth in the past who was Meliodas’ lover, called Liz or Elizabeth, wondering if the Elizabeth from 3000 years ago was that person.

Meliodas gropes her like old times, King picked up by Diane for some reason (possibly for similar acts?) as Gowther tries to warn him

Escanor asks Merlin if he can recite his poem, Merlin dismissing him, saying she’s drunk, which Ban finds amusing.

Merlin brings up that they still have some of the Ten Commandments to deal with, especially Zeldris of Piety, not to mention Estarossa, assuming he still lives. Hawk is confident they can deal with them, but Merlin says they still don’t fully know their power, underestimating them more dangerous than he realizes.

Diane notes that Zeldris said he was the Demon King’s representative, definitely a problem.

Meliodas says they need to free everyone from his Commandment and then move to liberate Camelot and take down Zeldris. Merlin agrees, leaving them to make a plan.

Later, Ban is angry at Escanor, accusing him of cheating, which Elaine quickly pacifies him on.

Escanor goes to check on Merlin, but Meliodas has gotten there first, catching Merlin before she collapses from the injuries she had before

He deduces what happened, even figuring out that Merlin really just wants to save Arthur, Merlin saying that is indeed the case, that he’s her hope, the chapter ending as we see Escanor, having heard it, is unsure what to think

Fairy Tail 538

We see the guild, the last piece of Zeref and Mavis left behind in the form of a locket.

Meanwhile Lucy is still writing in the Book of END when the words are sucked back into the book, Lucy thinking she’s done all she could.

Happy notes that Natsu isn’t a demon or such, that he won’t become evil.

Lucy falls over, Gray thinking she must be taken over by some demonic energy, using his Devil Slayer Magic to remove it from her.

The trio sees the Book of End disappearing, concerned that Natsu may disappear, Zeref’s death signaling the book’s destruction

Natsu appears before them, their fears assuaged as Happy rushes to hug Natsu, the Flame Dragon Slayer grossed out by his snot.

Natsu reveals that Mavis has died, though he thinks it was her plan to die and that they shouldn’t be sad about her passing, wanting them all to return to the guild happy.

Jellal awakens on Erza’s lap, wondering how he survived. Erza tells him that he still had things to do, Jenny agreeing that he needs to live for Ichiya and Anna’s sake

Natsu, Gray, Lucy and Happy all walk towards the guild, all having things they want to do, like Lucy writing her book and Gray apologizing to Juvia for his anger nearly killing them both.

Lucy even suggests they go on another adventure later to find Aquarius’ key.

Happy says he and Natsu had an idea, but as he turns to see him, the Flame Dragon Slayer has disappeared, Lucy and the others thinking they must have failed in spite of trying to rewrite the Book of End.

Lucy falls to her knees, crying in anguish at the loss of her friend.

The chapter ends as we see Wendy looking into the sky and a crack appearing in it, suggesting that Acnologia isn’t quite finished yet, meaning that the time paradox with Anna being sealed away may yet be resolved.

8 chapters until the end and it looks like the major antagonist will be Acnologia rather than Zeref, unless he’s somehow survived along with Mavis in some way.
