The second to last Jump Start is Dr.
Stone, done by the pair of Riichiro Inagaki, the writer behind Eyeshield 21
alongside Yusuke Murata and Boichi, the artist and writer of Sun Ken Rock. Our
main character, Taijuu, is going to confess his feelings to the girl he loves,
Yuzuriha, but a flash of light turns every human in the world to stone. He manages
to retain his consciousness over thousands of years and finally breaks free.
But aside from himself and his best friend Senkuu, who’s already been awake for
over half a year, the rest of humanity seems to have remained petrified and
they’re left to start back civilization.
No cancellations this week, which is
a decent sign that things are stable for now, though when World Trigger comes
out of hiatus, that’ll be about 22-23 series running at the same time.
We Can’t Study 5
Yuiga and the others are studying
English, which is one of Takemoto’s weakest subjects, but she’s having problems
understanding the grammar and vocabulary.
Furuhashi leaves for a bit, Takemoto
dragging Yuiga and Rizu to follow after her.
Turns out that Furuhashi is being
confessed to by the student she’s meeting, Yamaoka and he’s done it many times,
constantly being rejected by Furuhashi.
Takemoto is jealous, since Yamaoka’s
famous for being a gorgeous guy from the soccer team. She says Fumino should be
more aggressive, since that’ll make her truly stand out.
Takemoto and Rizu leave after a
while, Fumino and Yuiga alone. He says she can talk to him if she’s worried
about something, Fumino confessing that she’s intimidated by straightforward
guys. She thinks it might be because her father’s a similar kind of guy, but
when people are upfront like that, she loses her words and can’t speak as well.
Yuiga feels bad that he can’t offer her any advice.
The next day, he overhears Yamaoka
saying that he thinks Fumino will eventually bend to his pressure
Yuiga demands that he stop with his
confessions until Fumino’s exams are over, Yamaoka saying that he doesn’t have
any right to ask such a thing. But Yuiga retorts that as her tutor, he has a
duty to protect her studies and make her feel at ease, not stressed by people
like Yamaoka.
Yamaoka pushes Yuiga into a pillar,
cutting his head. Yuiga pushes the issue and Yamaoka backs off, saying he won’t
pursue Fumino anymore.
The chapter ends as Fumino is
bandaging up Yuiga and thinks that she feels comfortable around him, though
she’s still very clumsy, wrapping Yuiga up too much with the gauze.
Black Clover 101
As Vanessa tells the Witch Queen how
she has no family bonds with her, she remembers how Vanessa used to be so
vibrant and happy. She thinks that her obsession with perfection made her
forget how imperfection could have benefits as well.
The Witch Queen admits her defeat as
she thinks that Vanessa’s power was never going to come from being caged, but
from freedom.
She has Nero appear on her shoulder,
recognizing him as something relevant.
Everyone is healed as the Witch
Queen notes that the Magic Stone they seek is her earring, handing it to them,
to everyone’s surprise as the ease with which they acquired it.
Asta asks why the Eye of the
Midnight Sun would want these things, the Witch Queen saying they amplify the
magic of whoever holds it.
But she says only the elves can
fully utilize it, a group of people from centuries ago that had the highest
levels of magic, on par with the Witch Queen.
However, they are supposedly extinct
and the magic used on Fana and the others in the Third Eye is forbidden, unable
to be used without such high levels of magic and a sacrifice.
The Demon God is part of that
forbidden magic, summoned in the past by the Elf Elder, who also used the
swords that Asta possesses. Things will be explained later, the Witch Queen is
certain of that.
As everyone leaves, we see that Mars
is going back to the Diamond Kingdom, using a potion that has the Witch Queen’s
blood magic, promising longevity, but used to control him instead with the
marionette spell and change the Diamond Kingdom. Ladros is coming along as
well, the two of them able to infiltrate easily.
Fana will be taken in by Fanzel, waiting
until they reform the Diamond Kingdom. She says she’ll wait as long as it takes
and explore the world with Mars, making everyone still think they’re being
lovey dovey and Finral is jealous, bleeding from his eyes again.
Mars tells Asta that they’re friends
now and if he needs help, he only needs to ask, Asta saying the feeling’s
mutual.
Vanessa thinks about how the Witch
Queen told her that the Witch’s Forest is still her home and she can come back
whenever she wishes.
Everyone returns, Yami fairly
deadpan about Asta’s arms being healed, telling him to go get him some beer.
The chapter ends as he welcomes back
Vanessa, who smiles as she says she’s home, the arc concluding, next chapter
promising a new story
Boku no Hero Academia 129
Deku and Mirio are seen
moments before they ran into Eri and Overhaul, Deku feeling uncertain about his
qualifications for being under Sir Night Eye, Mirio saying they’re not in as
much danger, just patrolling the perimeter. But Deku still thinks that this is intended
to show him the gap between himself and Mirio by Night Eye, also wondering why
All Might didn’t mention anything about another possible successor.
They tell each other their Hero
names, Mirio a bit thrown off by Deku’s name just being his nickname and
Mirio’s being Rumillion, representing his goal to save millions.
Deku recognizes Overhaul as the
leader of the Eight Precepts of Death, Overhaul acting like a doting parent,
saying Eri’s his daughter and she has him worried so much.
Mirio tries to throw off Deku’s
expression of shock by suggesting his costume’s ill fitting. He also comments
on Overhaul’s mask and how it’s connected to the Eight Precepts of Death, but
Overhaul says it’s just an old relic, using it now because he’s sensitive to
germs.
Overhaul asks what office they’re from, not recognizing them as new Heroes,
Mirio saying they’re just on workplace shadowing patrol, not even in an office,
trying to keep their cover safe.
Eri clings to Deku who comments that
she’s so scared and her injuries don’t seem to be from just falling down.
Overhaul replies that he’s just being a parent and Deku shouldn’t try to tell
him how to raise his child.
Deku insists that there’s something
off, Overhaul admitting that there’s something, but he can’t talk about it in
the open, pulling them into an alleyway.
As Overhaul says that he’s just been
so worried about Eri’s rebelliousness, he starts to take off his glove,
commenting that he doesn’t understand kids, almost changing into a different
person around them.
Eri, seeing this threat, decides to
go with him, Deku and Mirio letting them go for now.
As Overhaul returns to his base, he
kills off his subordinate that failed to keep Eri in line.
The chapter ends as he tells her she’s
got to be less selfish, since she’s the core of his plan, one of his allies
telling him that Shigaraki has called him with a response to his offer.
Seven Deadly Sins 209
We see Monspiet and Derriere still
unconscious, Elizabeth caught by Meliodas as she starts to fall from the
exhaustion of purifying them.
But Rueduciel rushes to attack the
fallen Ten Commandments, stopped by Dolor and Gloxinia, who say that even
though this is war and they are justified in their actions, the Kings of the
Fairy and Giant clans cannot stand by and let Elizabeth’s actions go without
defense, since she risked her life for Demons.
Meliodas thanks Dolor and Gloxinia
as well as Sariel and Tarmiel, though the Archangels say they only did this for
Elizabeth’s sake.
The chapter ends as Meliodas says
that he’s fine with the Ten Commandments still hating him, since he’ll deal
with that alongside his friends in the future.
The chapter is much shorter because
Suzuki-sensei is still recovering slightly though he should be up to normal
standards next time. We did get some extra pages promoting the spin off series
called Seven Deadly Sins-Seven Days, which gets into more detail about King,
Elaine, Ban and Helbram’s backstory
Magi 340
In response to Hakuryuu’s claim that
the king should trust those close to him, but should also acknowledge that what
he believes will change over time, Sinbad argues that means the king will waver
in his responsibility to guide the people.
But Hakuryuu says that sometimes
what the king believes can be wrong, such as with the Kou Empire using military
power to expand territory or Hakuryuu’s focus on revenge. He asks Sinbad if
what he believes could never change, or if his becoming a god has made him
somehow beyond such concerns.
Sinbad thinks he’s trying to avoid
the question. The 7 Dungeon Conqueror says that he believes in himself as
someone who has seen destiny and achieved change that no one else could. But he
also says he trusts his friends even though Hakuryuu still thinks that he regards
them as lesser beings before him.
Sinbad insists he does trust his
friends, but he thinks only he can be the one king that rules everything, which
derives from Judar’s explanation that there are roles for everyone to fulfill.
But since Hakuryuu and Judar both failed in their roles to be a king and raise
up a king, Sinbad thinks he is the only one suitable for the role of a god.
Hakuryuu wonders if there is no one
to be an equal or superior to Sinbad, who responds that this battle is
specifically for that purpose. This makes Hakuryuu realize that this is
Sinbad’s one regret: that he is still uncertain whether he can be the god of
the world.
Aladdin and Alibaba talk about this
as well, thinking that Sinbad was actually happy to find people who weren’t affected
by his rewriting of the Rukh.
They see that Valefor has been
conquered, Arba still astonished that they could change Sinbad’s mind, which
provokes Aladdin to speculate that there may be more to this than Sinbad
wanting to be convinced by them.
The group arrives at the 3rd
Dungeon, Zepar and sees Sinbad with an unknown woman (unless you’ve read
Sinbad’s Adventure, in which case you’d know who she is), revealed to be
Princess Celendine of Parthevia.
Sinbad explains that he conquered
Zepar when he was 17 (which is a half truth, since Celendine was the one given
Zepar initially) and after sacrificing Celendine at some point, he absorbed her
Rukh and was given ownership of Zepar.
The two initiate Djinn Equip as they
ask the question ofAladdin and Alibaba: should they live by their own will or
by the will of others? The chapter concludes with this new challenge.
One Piece 858
We see Streusen, the head chef
of Big Mom’s crew, putting the finishing touches on the cake for the wedding.
Meanwhile, Pekoms is being
restrained by Jinbe’s Fishmen and Merpeople allies, saying that he’ll just get
in the way, since he’s still recovering. Pekoms is worried about what’s
happening with all the boxes being trafficked through the bay and whether Jinbe
properly reported Bege’s betrayal to Big Mom.
Luffy and Sanji arrive at Bege’s
hideout, the others travelling ahead through the mirrors. They’re told by Vito
that they must take a bath, because Bege won’t see them if they’re dirty
Nami is telling Chiffon about how
Lola was a good friend of hers and how she saved the younger twin sister of
Bege’s wife, Chiffon grateful to the Straw Hat.
Chiffon further explains why Big Mom
is so angry at Lola. The giants resent Big Mom because Lola refused the hand of
their prince, Loki. They even tried to pass Chiffon off as Lola and further
angered the kingdom that boasted one of the strongest armies in the world, so
Big Mom focused on gigantifying people instead.
Big Mom beat her savagely and now,
with her husband Bege wanting to kill her mother, Chiffon doesn’t care in the
slightest.
Meanwhile, Luffy and Brook fix their
bone and tooth based injuries after their bath by drinking some milk (which
suggests it’s not just Brook that can repair damage like that with calcium)
Brulee and Diesel are furious at
Chiffon for betraying Big Mom, but Chiffon only thinks of Bege and Pez, her
son, as her family now.
The meeting begins, Bege thinking he
was initially going to kill off the Straw Hats, but killing Sanji would ruin
his chances to kill Big Mom, since he’s expected at the ceremony.
Luffy notices Caesar Clown in the
people at the table, Caesar remembering how Bege got possession of his heart at
some point and offered it in exchange for his assistance in the plan to
assassinate Big Mom
Caesar tries to pass himself off as
someone else, but the jig is up as he admits it, being under Bege’s thumb now
with his heart as the collateral.
Luffy wants to punch Bege for
shooting Pekoms, the Mafioso not minding. But Jinbe says they can do that
later, confirming whether they all want to be involved in this plot or not.
The chapter ends as they all
begrudgingly accept, ready to finish things with Big Mom and move onto other
things.
Fairy Tail 525
Gildartz takes August’s provocation, to Cana’s
displeasure, and rushes at him. August reiterates his inquiry, asking if
parents and children should have love for each other, Gildartz affirming that
it’s obvious.
August then asks why Zeref’s child was not loved,
referring to Larcade and how Zeref didn’t see his child as anything special
beyond his usefulness to fighting Acnologia.
Cana moves to help Gildartz in spite of him telling
her to stay back, saying that she deserves independence from her father.
Gildartz insists that he can’t let her go completely as his daughter as we
shift over and see Larcade crawling to try and help Zeref, clinging to life
As Natsu continues to fight Zeref, he’s still
virtually powerless against his brother’s power.
Lucy, Gray and Happy are contacted by Mavis, who
tells them to leave Natsu behind and meet with her, trusting in their friend to
survive, since they’re needed to ensure his safety.
They agree, Lucy telling Natsu not to lose as the
Flame Dragon Slayer manages to throw Zeref down as he affirms he won’t give up
that easily.
Zeref finds himself happy at the prospect of
fighting and killing his brother, thinking it might be connected to the curse
of contradictions that keeps him alive, though his own emotions might be
manifesting as well. Either way, he’s absolutely giddy at the idea and ready to
fight.
Suddenly, Natsu starts to fall unconscious as
Larcade uses his RIP magic on his uncle.
Larcade tells his father to use this opportunity to
kill Natsu as Zeref remembers Precht thinking whether he should kill Mavis or
let her live as he saw signs of her coming out of her coma when she was in
Lacryma crystal.
Unexpectedly, Zeref blasts a hole in Larcade as the
chapter ends on him saying that his son is in the way and should be eliminated.
