Last Jump Start will be next week,
since Jump is probably trying to reduce the workload slightly, even if they did
5 series in the last 5 weeks already. Robot x Laserbeam by Tadatoshi Fujimaki,
author of Kuroko no Basket, will apparently be a golf manga, which is trying to
fit into the sports genre that’s lacking a bit in Shounen Jump apart from
Haikyuu
Magi’s either on break or has been
delayed with scanlations. Hopefully we’ll have a new chapter next week
Decided to add Dr. Stone to the
lineup, because, in spite of my criticism of it regarding a rushed pacing and
low character investment, it still has a compelling premise and reminds me a
lot of a series I really enjoyed, Cage of Eden
Dr. Stone 3
After coming back from petrification,
Senkuu and Taijuu work together to build a basic structure and maintain
essentials for survival. After half a year, they’d moved on to the next stage
of Senkuu’s experiments to figure out how to free people from being turned to
stone. Senkuu deduced that there must’ve been something that allowed him and
Taijuu to be freed relatively close together.
With the help of Taijuu finding wild
grapes, they first made wine and then distilled it into brandy, combining it
with nitric acid from bat guano to create something that actually managed to
free birds that were turned to stone. As a reward for this discovery being part
of Taijuu’s exploration, Senkuu offers him the first choice of who to free,
Taijuu saying he’ll definitely free Yuzuriha.
The next chapter begins as we see
Senkuu and Taijuu approach Yuzuriha, the scientist saying that the reviving
water they created won’t work on people already broken into pieces because
they’ll just be brought back as dead bodies.
But before they do it, Taijuu stops
Senkuu, saying that he doesn’t want to bring back Yuzuriha naked, Senkuu saying
that’s a stupid thing to be concerned about. Taijuu insists, picking up
Yuzuriha’s statue body.
However, a lion appears, the two
thinking it must be from a zoo in Japan.
They’re pursued by the lion pride,
which aren’t immediately trying to kill them, since they haven’t seen humans in
so long.
Taijuu moves to try and hold them
off, saying Senkuu has to survive. But Senkuu says they’re both essential to
the world coming back to normalcy, that Taijuu shouldn’t sacrifice himself
meaninglessly, since he can’t fight well, just endure damage.
Instead of running, Taijuu has an
idea, thinking they should revive Shishiou Tsukasa, a great high school athlete
he noticed near the end of chapter 1.
They do so, the powerful teenager
showing his strength punching out a lion, declaring himself to be the fighter
of the group to keep them safe.
The chapter ends as Taijuu and
Senkuu agree that this makes them much stronger overall, especially in a world
without guns
We Can’t Study 6
Rizu has a short essay due and so
she goes to ask Yuiga for help. He explains to her the general structure of an
essay, from the introduction to the body and the conclusion as well as how much
time to devote to each portion and their connection as a whole for what you’re
trying to convey.
But Rizu still lacks interest in the
topic itself, making things difficult for her tutor.
She gets a message from Takemoto,
who wants her to go to karaoke with her, which she refuses. After she tells her
she’s studying at Yuiga’s, Takemoto rushes over, pretending that she wanted to
study as well
A blackout happens, Takemoto excited
and Rizu trying to hide her fear of the dark. Takemoto considers trying to act
afraid as well, since she does have a bit of a crush on Yuiga, but can’t bring
herself to do it.
Yuiga makes a homemade candle, using
them on and off because his house gets the electricity cut off on occasion.
They comment on how electricity is
something people are dependent on, but without it, being in a dark room
together with the light of a candle can bring people closer together.
Takemoto accidentally blows out the
candle, Yuiga fumbling for the lighter and accidentally touching the girls
inappropriately. Rizu leaves abruptly, making Yuiga worry about whether she’ll
do well
The chapter ends as Rizu has turned
in her essay and it was accepted, though she made a slightly unnecessary
comment at the end of her commentary on electricity and human contact about
some people doing perverted things in the dark.
Black Clover 102
Asta is told by Yami he needs to
take some rest, Finral saying there’s an event that might be up the antimagic
magic knight’s alley in his off time.
Magna and Luck come back, apparently
much stronger after looking in a dungeon for a way to fix Asta’s arms, relieved
when they find that they’ve been healed anyway.
Gauche and Gordon have returned,
becoming magic otaku (breaking the fourth wall a bit). They’re a bit peeved,
but nonetheless happy that Asta’s arms are fixed as well.
Charmy and Gray’s appearance is odd,
since Charmy apparently got them involved with parasitic magic mushrooms in
their journey, not even caring that when she eats them, 3 more grow back on
her, creating a vicious cycle.
Yami returns to the main topic,
saying there’s a festival where they announce the rankings of the Magic Knight
orders based on the stars they have. It’s not that interesting to them, since
the Black Bulls always place dead last
But they’re still excited, since
it’s a festival that’s important to all of the Clover Kingdom.
Asta and Noelle meet Kiato and
Kahono, who Finral brought from the Underwater Temple, at the festival and
they’re healed of their injuries from Vett by the Witch Queen’s blood magic,
contained in a potion that Asta was given.
Kahono is so happy, singing to her
heart’s content.
The chapter ends as she suggests to
Asta and Noelle that they go on a double date.
Boku no Hero Academia 130
Night Eye and Bubble Girl are
contacted by Mirio and Deku, who explain that they met up with Chisaki. He says
they were right to not push the issue too much, the danger too great.
They bring up an incident with
criminals, strongly hinted to be the Reservoir Dogs, and how Chisaki was a
bystander in the accident they caused. But in spite of them seemingly being in
excruciating pain because of Overhaul’s Quirk, they were apprehended and
seemingly in better condition than before, even cavities healed.
Mirio and Deku reveal that they met
Chisaki’s daughter, Deku still worried about her, thinking he should’ve done
something. But Night Eye says he’s too arrogant to assume he can just save
people by feeling strongly about it. They need to be prepared and that will
ensure that they keep people safe without putting them at undue risk.
The first day of the internship
ends, the next day starting classes at Yuuei again.
Bakugou and Todoroki are beaten up
from the remedial exam for the provisional license, compared to a modern day
Sparta.
Deku is still feeling bad about what
happened with Chisaki and Night Eye’s chastising of him, not doing as well in
class.
He finds All Might jogging later
that day and demands to know everything regarding Night Eye and Mirio as well
as him being a candidate for One For All.
Deku says he needs to know this not
as a fan, but as his successor, insisting All Might shouldn’t keep this secret
from him.
All Might agrees, explaining that he
and Night Eye were sidekicks in spite of All Might rarely taking sidekicks,
together for 5 years. But after his injury, he and Night Eye separated after
All Might insisted he wouldn’t choose a successor even though it would have
been the more practical solution, since he couldn’t fight the same way as
before.
Night Eye said he couldn’t’t stay
with All Might if he continued like this, All Might responding that people
shouldn’t have to live in fear while they search for his inheritor of One For
All.
But Night Eye brings up his
prediction, something that has never been wrong in the past, saying that if All
Might continues like this, he will meet his death against a Villain.
All Might explains that he was
recommended by Nedzu to choose Mirio as his successor, but he met Deku before
that, the chapter ending on that.
Seven Deadly Sins 210
Nerobasta is contacted by Rueduciel
to summon reinforcements from heaven, specifically someone called Mael. She’s
suddenly broken out of Gowther’s Invasion power, not sure what she was doing.
As she sees Gowther and Merascylla
(Melascula is apparently the official spelling, but I’ll go with the original
for now out of consistency), she realizes that they’re corrupting the gate to
the heavens so that it’ll connect to the underworld instead.
Meanwhile, the fairies and giants
observe that a great energy disappeared nearby, thinking that the Ten
Commandments were defeated.
Gerharde is still worried about
Gloxinia, but Rou says she doesn’t have to worry, Gerharde even reinforcing his
confidence as she says her brother is kind. The two have a moment, reminiscent
of Ban and Elaine, showing a parallel in the past to the present.
Nerobasta contacts everyone in the base,
warning them that the Ten Commandments have started to corrupt the “Light of
Grace”, the gate to heaven. She says everyone should try to overwhelm them with
numbers, since they don’t seem as powerful as the other Ten Commandments.
Rou says it’s his time to move, one
of the giants thinking he’s overconfident.
But suddenly, Rou leaps up and
slices open the giant’s throat, telling the other humans to act as well,
revealing that the humans were in league with the Demon Clan to eliminate the
other 3 clans.
King and Diane sense the commotion
at Stigma headquarters, telling Meliodas to stay and protect Elizabeth while
they go to see what’s happening
As they head back, they think about
how odd it is for them to be sympathetic to the Ten Commandments, but Diane
notes that no one is innately evil and everyone has their reasons for fighting,
so they should try to understand them and not assume things because of
stereotypes regarding being in a race.
The Goddess clan was revealed to be
warmongers who advocated genocide, while Meliodas, a Demon, who King initially
distrusted because of that, is such a kind person.
They run into Gowther, who tries to
play himself off as a villain, but turns back on that, suggesting he’s not
entirely loyal to the Demons.
The chapter ends as King wonders
about this person, thinking it couldn’t be Gowther, which makes me wonder if
this is someone else or if it’s just that Gowther is so different 3000 years
ago.
One Piece 859
The group asks Bege how he plans on
taking out Big Mom, the Castle Man saying that he can do it in 5 seconds if
they make an opening, though there’s a risk that if they can’t, it’ll be all
out war and they can’t win in that situation.
Caesar is the first part of the
plan, providing launchers that fire poison gas bullets with enough toxins in
them to kill a human 5 times over. But they need some way to ensure it pierces
Big Mom’s skin.
They need to make sure of 2 things:
that everyone doesn’t move for at least 5 seconds so Bege can fire the
cartridge and that Big Mom is vulnerable.
The latter part is especially
difficult, but the tea party provides the circumstances that make Big Mom subject
to injury: specifically her having a photo of someone called Mother Caramel.
Someone dropped it in the past and Big Mom was so weakened, she scraped her
knees, which was unheard of.
The plan is to destroy the photo so
she’s completely open to attack and use earplugs to avoid her ear piercing
shriek that will follow.
But that’s still only a 3 second
gap, Luffy having to provide a larger opening by crashing the party
unexpectedly. Luffy agrees in spite of the great danger it poses to him, Sanji
saying they can’t use him and Pudding kissing as the signal, because she plans
to kill him, instead saying the gunshot will be the trigger, which he’ll dodge.
The final part of the plan is the
escape, Caesar flying in with Brulee and a mirror so everyone can flee into it
while the others are still affected by Big Mom’s shriek of horror.
Afterwards, everyone will split off
and the alliance is concluded.
Sanji and Bege head off to start
their respective duties for the special day
We see everyone excited on the day
of the wedding the chapter ending as we see Big Mom excited, forgetting that
Brook is gone and Pudding exasperated at the work she’ll have to do after she
kills Sanji.
Fairy Tail 526
Both Gildartz and Cana continue their assault on
August, but nothing seems to affect him
August moves to attack Cana, Gildartz blocking the
blow, which manages to hit a part of him that’s already been eaten by
Acnologia, so there’s no serious injury done.
The Wizard King thinks the bond between a parent and
child is weak, Gildartz retorting that his mind has always been focused on Cana
since he learned she was his daughter, but Cana doesn’t full believe him.
Gildartz says he stayed away because he knew she’d
feel awkward with him around. But now he’s motivated to make a sacrificial
attack to save his daughter, August saying that’s insane.
But Gildartz replies that that mentality is exactly
what makes a parent’s bond with their child so strong
Larcade is in shock that his father would kill him,
Zeref insisting he was just the best success out of his attempts in experiments
to replicate Natsu, so he just gave him the name Dragneel. In his eyes, he has
no son; Larcade is merely another one of the demons he’s created
Zeref moves to fight Natsu as Larcade flashes back
to Hades, who managed to release Larcade from Mavis’ body. He’s confused about
Mavis having a child, such as if Zeref is the father, but he’s more focused on
what to do with the child who has an immense magic power
He had his memories from when Hades abandoned him
and even of Zeref and Mavis being his parents. His life was difficult, but
Zeref eventually found him and trained him, giving the Holy Dragon Slayer
purpose in life.
Meanwhile, Gildartz has discerned the nature of
August’s magic, able to copy a magic and render it ineffective in the same
moment.
But he also noticed that August dodged Cana’s cards,
meaning he can’t dodge Holder Type magic, which depends on items, versus Caster
Type magic, which is innate to the user.
He holds down August while Cana throws her cards at
them both, frustrated at Gildartz implying he was going to sacrifice himself,
but Gildartz says he’ll survive this for his daughter’s sake
He reveals his arm, which is another type of tool,
firing a massive attack from it and seemingly defeating August.
We hear Larcade speaking about meeting Zeref and the
Dark Mage not aware of him being his child, grooming him to found a new country.
But we find out Larcade wasn’t Zeref’s son at all,
August actually his child, named by Zeref when he found him, after the month
when he first met Mavis and became friends.
The chapter ends on this revelation, August’s focus
on asking why Zeref didn’t love his child making more sense in hindsight.
Revealing that Larcade was indeed just another Demon
with some special ability that Zeref somehow enabled him to have, not to
mention that August is actually Zeref’s child, was a legitimately interesting twist,
though I wonder if it was properly foreshadowed compared to the hints that it
was Larcade.
