The next Jump Start is Hungry Marie
by Ryuuhei Tamura, best known for Beelzebub. The main character, Taiga, lives
in a Daoist temple with his grandmother, next to a Christian church where his
childhood crush, Anna, lives. After discovering that Anna’s family has been
trusted to protect the family of Marie Antoinette, they use him as a sacrifice.
When the ritual seems to succeed, it turns out Taiga has been
turned into Marie’s daughter, Marie-Therese Charlotte
Ole Golazo by Takamasa Moue, a
series about a Tae Kwon Do player who sees appeal in soccer, ended this issue
as well, sadly. It had potential to fill the gap, though 3 chapters left some
to be desired. You can read them on Viz’s free section
Boku no Hero Academia took an
unexpected break this week.
We Can’t Study 4
After Yuiga has been roped into
tutoring Rizu and Fumino and even had a study session at his house, he’s
approached by a friend from middle school, Uruka Takemoto, a tanned swimming
genius. She asks to borrow his notes, which he reluctantly gives as she goes to
practice
He gives a report to the headmaster,
who says that he wants Yuiga to also tutor Takemoto, since she’s considered a
prize in the school, having done such great sports accomplishments and seeking
a sports scholarship.
Takemoto takes a break from practice
as Yuiga comes in to explain that she needs to have some academic capability to
get the scholarship for the school she’s aiming for.
She gives up, but Yuiga chases her,
slipping into the pool. But as she gets him out, he moves to pin her, being
caught in a compromising situation by Rizu and Fumino, who think he was doing
something inappropriate to her.
Takemoto figures out that Yuiga’s
tutoring them and decides to go along with them, wanting to be friends.
As Takemoto’s heading home, she
remembers hearing a conversation between Yuiga and his friends about why he
gives his notes to her. He says he does it because he knows that she’s devoted
herself to the swimming club instead of studying.
She thinks that since Yuiga does his
best for others, she should take the initiative and help him reach his
potential as well, the chapter ending on this resolve from the Ebony Ivory
Mermaid.
Black Clover 100
Vanessa’s new magic, manifested as a
cat, rolls around for a bit before leaping at Asta. It touches his shoulder,
but nothing seems to happen.
The Witch Queen thinks it’s
insulting, commanding Asta to attack Noelle, slicing her head off.
Vanessa cries out in anguish but
suddenly, it’s as if it never happened, Noelle dodging the attack this time as
the Witch Queen is confused as to what even occurred.
Noelle’s death seems to occur again,
Asta stabbing into her, but again Vanessa’s magic reverses events and Noelle is
saved
The Witch Queen moves to attack
Finral, but in spite of him being slashed in half, the cat of destiny makes it
so he’s saved.
She then tries to attack the cat
itself, but the strings dodge the slash and touch Asta, reversing the Blood magic’s
control over him.
Finally realizing the nature of the
magic, changing the destiny of whoever is touched by the cat, the Witch Queen
tries to use her magic to control Vanessa instead
She rushes to attack with a blood
scythe, but the cat touches her and the attack misses
Vanessa walks up to her mother,
explaining that the power only aids those who she has bonds with and the Witch
Queen, in spite of their connection by blood, are not true family, the chapter
ending as she says they have no such bonds, which is why she failed.
Seven Deadly Sins 208
King and Diane ask about the
monstrous forms of the Ten Commandments, Meliodas explaining the danger
involved with the Indura form and how there’s no stopping them until they run
out of energy
Rueduciel asks Elizabeth for her
help in destroying Monspiet and Derriere, but she refuses, saying that she’ll
save them.
She unleashes her Ark power from her
right eye and begins to try purifying them with blasts of holy energy from the
triskelion shape.
But they resist, Meliodas observing
that their evil energy is fighting against Elizabeth’s good aura.
Rueduciel calls Sariel and Tarmiel
to help him wipe out the Ten Commandments, but Meliodas steps forward to fight
them and cover Elizabeth.
She expresses how sorry she is for
causing the death of Demon civilians, but Sariel and Tarmiel think she’s too
naïve to pity them. But Elizabeth retorts that it isn’t something for the
Goddess Clan to decide, whether Demons are worthy of living or not.
Elizabeth argues that since everyone
experiences night and day the same, they are not superior in any way to each
other.
This seems to sway Sariel and
Tarmiel, who assist her in spite of Rueduciel commanding them to help him
destroy the remaining Demons. Rueduciel speaks harshly, saying that someone
even above them will not forgive Elizabeth for this betrayal, but Elizabeth
isn’t asking for anyone’s forgiveness besides the Demons
With the 2 Archangels’ aid,
Elizabeth manages to purify Monspiet and Derriere of their overwhelming
darkness, leaving them unconscious as the chapter ends.
Magi 339
Sinbad tells Hakuryuu how he was the
King Candidate he had the lowest expectations for, provoking the former emperor
of Kou to retaliate.
Hakuryuu attacks Sinbad in Valefor
Djinn Equip, tricking him into thinking it was Zagan, but it was actually
Belial, cutting off his tail.
Sinbad, however, manages to reverse
that damage, saying that he doesn’t imagine Hakuryuu could provide a
satisfactory answer to his question.
Hakuryuu is shown the scenes of his
failure to protect the Kou Empire and this throws him into despair as Sinbad
tells him how Solomon’s fate affects everyone with no rhyme or reason.
Instead, Sinbad wishes to change
things so those who make sacrifices like Hakuryuu are rewarded and those who
would exploit others are punished accordingly.
But Hakuryuu slashes the vision
apart and divides a part of his power as emperor, representing his bestowal of
the title to his sister Kougyoku.
He explains that he works with
others and treats them as equals in his fight against destiny, but Sinbad never
truly regarded his Eight Generals as comrades, but more like tools or pawns,
symbolized with how his form dwarfs his servants.
Ultimately Hakuryuu concludes that
he should’ve trusted Kougyoku and worked together instead of being selfish.
His answer is that you should trust
those close to you, but also admit that your beliefs will change over your
lifetime.
The chapter ends as Belial comments
how he and Hakuryuu are incompatible, since Belial is founded on a similar idea
of deception as Valefor is.
One Piece 857
Luffy explains the situation to
Sanji as the rain lets up, the two thinking they need to meet with Nami and the
others.
Chopper’s group in the Mirror World
tries to contact Luffy and Sanji through the mirror fragments left behind when
they last contacted them a day ago.
Luffy and Sanji hear Chopper’s
voice, learning about how they rescued Brook and that he got a rubbing of the
Poneglyph
Sanji explains that he’ll go back
with the Straw Hats once they save the Vinsmokes and stop Big Mom’s wedding
celebration. Nami is a bit reluctant, though she forgives Sanji for now, the
others just happy that Luffy and Sanji’s fight was temporary.
Jinbe says that there’s a huge risk
with their plan, since even if they don’t take out Big Mom, ruining her tea
party will draw her wrath, not to mention there’s only 8 of them to the many
strong warriors and people from the underworld of crime that will be attending
the wedding as well.
The major threat is Capone Bege, one
of the heads of West Blue’s 5 major crime families. He made a name for himself
by taking out the heads of various organizations and even pirates as he
broadened his horizons, leaving the subordinates alive so he could watch them
collapse
Big Mom has acknowledged Bege’s
power and given him the rank of Rook, allowing him to take over the security
detail. And this allows Bege to initiate his true plan, which is to take out
Big Mom, who’ll be none the wiser as she plans to kill the Vinsmokes as they’ve
let their guard down.
In spite of their goals being
slightly different, Jinbe thinks Luffy should ally himself with Bege, since
they don’t have his numbers or his planning for the mission.
The chapter ends as we hear that
Jinbe already has a meeting set up to meet with Bege, who says that he’ll
consider it, but if Luffy makes him mad, they’ll just take him out here.
Fairy Tail 524
Acnologia walks past Erza, who
recognizes his magic power from somewhere. He sees Eileen’s body and stomps her
corpse, saying she is the source of his suffering and his existence as a Dragon
Slayer who became a Dragon
Natsu and Zeref fight, though
Zeref’s power is still enough to push the Flame Dragon Slayer back. The Dark
Mage even comments that Natsu, having lost Igneel’s power, is far weaker now.
But everyone recognizes Acnologia’s
presence coming closer, Zeref saying he must finish off Natsu
We shift over to August fighting
Gildartz and Cana, thinking that with Acnologia coming and Zeref not having
acquired Fairy Heart, the situation is dire.
Gildartz and Cana both accuse the
Alvareth empire of committing a terrible sin against humanity in trying to
subjugate them, but August thinks it is better to do this for humanity’s future
than let them die senselessly.
Cana says she cannot forgive August
for focusing on justice over human feelings, unleashing Fairy Glitter on him.
But the Wizard King is unscathed as
he asks Cana if she loves her father and the same to Gildartz regarding Cana.
August still puzzles over parental
love and wonders how Gildartz would react if Cana was killed before him as the
chapter ends, the next chapter title suggesting we may get some focus on Larcade.
