Robot x Laserbeam, by the author of
Kuroko’s Basketball, is a golf manga that features a character nicknamed Robot
because of his mechanical and no nonsense personality, reminiscent of some
forms of high functioning autism in a way. His friend wants him to join the
golf team, but he’s uninterested. But later he’s with his friend at the driving
range with a new club, but some other students from another high school’s golf
club bully the friend for how he has no talent. Robo then shows the talent he
exhibited to another pro golfer unknowingly the day before, hitting perfectly
straight shots and controlling his output with immense precision, like a
laserbeam. The question remains as to whether he’ll join the golf club and how
this talent will bloom.
Reminds me of Ole Golazo in a way
with a character that has a unique trait that benefits his performance in a
sport that he wasn’t interested in, though I hope it lasts longer than the Tae
Kwon Do soccer manga did.
Expect delays from Magi,
because the scanlation group seems to have stretched themselves a bit too thin
with projects
Dr. Stone 4
Senkuu voices some concern about
Tsukasa’s strength, saying that if he was evil in nature, he could just
dominate the others and take Yuzuriha for himself by force.
Tsukasa asks for something to dress
the meat, expressing regret for killing the lion, even in self defense, and
wanting to repent by making it useful to them.
Back at the base, Tsukasa properly
introduces himself, Senkuu explaining how he and Taiju (apparently in the
Japanese there isn’t an extended “u”, so I’m correcting that spelling
posthaste) function in the group.
The hunter of the group catches them
12 fish, Senkuu smoking them to keep them free of disease. With this pair and
their skills, the food situation is practically solved.
But the next step is unclear to
Taiju, who thinks the most important thing needed is a smartphone.
Senkuu explains that, while Tsukasa
is right that iron is necessary, the most essential thing now is calcium
carbonate, the stuff used to line gymnasium fields. With the shells they found,
they can make it by smashing them, Taiju doing the physical labor.
The major uses are 1) agriculture,
leveling out the soil, 2) by heating it and mixing it with sand, they can make
mortar, a lesser form of cement and 3) soap, which will keep disease at bay.
Turns out he was mistaken in saying there were 4, just 3.
Tsukasa compliments Senkuu’s great
mind, though Senkuu’s somewhat suspicious of him being so congenial. But
Tsukasa is genuinely impressed at how intelligent Senkuu is.
Later, when they’re gathering
shells, Tsukasa tells a story regarding a boy who was collecting shells to make
a necklace for his sister who was going to undergo surgery, loving The Little
Mermaid. But a fisherman who claimed that the boy was stealing them, since he
had a fishing permit for the area, beat the boy savagely.
Tsukasa smashes a petrified old
person, Senkuu saying he just killed someone. But the athlete hunter says he
fully admits that, saying that they need to start civilization over completely,
not relying on the old people who are set in their ways.
Senkuu disagrees with Tsukasa’s
assessment that they should try to make the Stone World full of only the
innocent to truly bring things back to a natural state, saying that he will
save all humanity with the power of science.
With this conflict in mind, Senkuu
thinks they need to keep the recipe of the revival water secret from him, so he
can’t abuse it.
The chapter ends as Taiju brings
more of the nitric acid, saying they have enough to revive Yuzuriha.
We Can’t Study 7
Takemoto learns that with an
upcoming English words test for the sports class, if she fails she can’t do her
club activities because of supplementary lessons.
Nariyuki says she should just learn
the vocabulary words, Takemoto trying to garner sympathy from Rizu, who thinks
it’s not her problem as she continues to play one of her card games.
Takemoto takes a practice exam and
fails miserably, Rizu and Furuhashi showing they can do much better than her,
which makes her despair at the test itself.
Furuhashi notes she’s just good at
memorization, only scoring average on the other types of English tests.
Yuiga then tests Takemoto’s memory
by asking how many drinks they’ve had so far, which she can’t recall.
He then suggests methods to remember
the words, repeating the English and Japanese and writing the answer over and
over to retain the knowledge.
Furuhashi then volunteers to help
Takemoto, who notices how elegant and beautiful Furuhashi is up close, thinking
she must be what Nariyuki is interested in rather than her. The only thing she
has an advantage in is her bust size.
After a long session of studying,
Takemoto still hasn’t made progress, even Furuhashi tired out by how
incompetent she is.
Takemoto wonders if there’s a way to
make studying fun, Yuiga responding that studying isn’t fun, that you have to
work at it before it becomes something you can enjoy.
He brings up how Uruka didn’t like
swimming at first, her initial frustration motivating her to work harder and
get better.
Yuiga then has an idea of how to
help Takemoto study, moving to the pool where he shows a flash card of the
English word, Uruka swimming to find a ball with the Japanese written on it as
a method to help her associate it better in her mind. She successfully finds 50
words, the session a success.
Takemoto removes Rizu’s jacket and
says they should swim, since they’re here at the pool. Rizu hesitates, but
Takemoto suggesting she might not be able to swim makes Rizu try and fail
miserably, her tough façade breaking apart quickly again.
Afterwards, everyone heads home,
Takemoto reminded by Yuiga that she has to keep at this or she’ll forget things.
Takemoto says that she understands
now that studying is hard, but with everyone’s help, it’s become more fun than
before. She hurriedly gives him a bag, saying that it’s a present for him
tutoring her as she rushes ahead to hang out with Rizu and Fumino. Yuiga begins
to think the tutoring might not be so bad.
The chapter ends as Yuiga finds that
the bag was Takemoto’s, holding her swimsuit, Takemoto picking the wrong bag,
still holding the one with the pencil case meant for Yuiga, mortified at her
mistake.
Black Clover 103
Kahono drags Asta along for the
date, wanting to both help Kiato in some way with his crush on Noelle and
encouraging Noelle to be forward with her budding feelings for Asta.
Everyone is having fun, Kahono
asking Asta what he thinks of Noelle after they won some prizes in the festival
games
But before he can answer, a lost
child is crying for her mother. Many of the attendees, nobles who have high
magic power, regard her as an annoying peasant, but Noelle tries to calm her
down.
She continues to cry, Asta, Kahono
and Kiato all performing a short song and dance number, poking fun at Asta
The girl cheers up, Kahono using her
Song Magic to communicate to others about the lost child.
Her mother is grateful, though when
she realizes Noelle’s royal heritage, she becomes apologetic, hoping her
daughter didn’t inconvenience the noble.
But Noelle says that her nobility
means she should be willing to help those in need, saying everyone should enjoy
the festival, regardless of social standing.
Asta, seeing how kind Noelle is,
tells Kahono he does like Noelle, who’s embarrassed and blasts him away with
magic in her bashful anger.
Kahono and Noelle go off to have fun
on their own, Asta still recovering from Noelle’s attack
He sees a beautiful, but silent
woman, sitting by herself. A rude nobleman approaches her, insisting that she
come with him. He grabs her arm, but is attacked by thorny vines.
The chapter ends as it’s revealed
this is the captain of the Blue Rose Magic Knights, Charlotte Roselei (Lorelei
might’ve been the original translation but Roselei is closer to the original Japanese
phonetics)
Boku no Hero Academia 131
Deku is in shock at All Might
revealing that he will die, hardly able to process it.
All Might further explains that his
decision to give One for All to Deku widened the gap between himself and Night
Eye, who decided to focus on training Mirio.
The premonition was 6-7 years from
now regarding All Might’s death, meaning it will happen within the next year at
the latest and they’ve never been wrong in spite of the possibility being much
more uncertain the further in the future Night Eye uses the Foresight Quirk.
Deku says All Might can’t die until
he’s fulfilled the promise he made at the Sports Festival, for All Might to see
him succeed him as the Symbol of Peace.
All Might says he took the
premonition rather casually, willing to fight until his death, since it was
inevitable. But when he was nearing death against All For One, Deku inspired
him to survive and Deku’s mother, Inko, further pushed him to want to live and
see Deku fulfill his duty, willing to bend fate with his resolve.
He thinks it’s possible fate has
already been changed, unsure about whether Night Eye’s premonition is the same.
Deku says they’ll both fight fate. He even suggests that All Might and Night
Eye make-up from their falling out, though All Might’s hesitant about it
Meanwhile, a fight between Villain
gangs has broken out, two Gigantificaiton type Quirks smashing through the city
But Hadou, revealing her Quirk to be
something related to a spiral or wave (her name does mean Wave Spiral, so it’s
not uncommon for names to indicate the Quirk that a person has in My Hero
Academia), something that manifests from her wrists, knocks them back. With
Asui and Uraraka’s help, they take down the two giant villains in a combo
attack.
Their Hero in charge of the agency
they’re interning under, Ryuukyuu, the 9th ranked Hero, says they have great
aptitude and could help them with a mission that involves All Might’s sidekicks
teaming up.
The chapter ends as it’s revealed
they’re trying to investigate Overhaul and his organization, the Eight Precepts
of Death, possibly creating an alliance with Shigaraki’s League of Villains.
Seven Deadly Sins 211
Gowther finds it odd that they know
a different version of him, since this is the first time he’s met them.
Merascylla tells Gowther to try and
keep the gate open but he says she can go ahead and close it as she leaves him
behind, saying he owes her 5 bottles of wine.
King and Diane are in shock that
Gowther’s one of the Ten Commandments, not learning of this like the others
had.
The two of them decide they need to
focus on saving the Giants and Fairies from whatever attack is happening.
But suddenly, King knocks Diane out
of the way as Gowther tries to attack her. He says he can’t let them get to
where Merascylla is still preparing the gate, having gotten here through a
breach in time-space apparently
King reveals to Diane that Gowther
was the one who affected her memories, which are apparently still suppressed,
but this Gowther doesn’t know about that, confused at the whole conversation
Meanwhile, Merascylla is nearly
finished with the gate, Nerobasta worried about why no one is coming to help
her.
However, Merascylla is shocked to
discover that she wasn’t making a gate to the demon world, but to its prison,
being manipulated by Gowther since she left the battle with the Archangels
before, meaning both she and Nerobasta were under his Invasion power’s
influence.
Merascylla is furious, but is
silenced, frozen by the true form of Gowther, in a wheelchair and using the
form we’re familiar with as a medium to interact with the outside world, since
he’s apparently been in the demon gaol for 500+ years.
It’s suggested by the Commandment of
Faith that even the Demon King wasn’t aware of Gowther’s plans.
Gowther says he cares nothing for
the Holy War being waged, using his puppet form to experience the emotions of
others, the Commandment of Selflessness coming with a tradeoff of losing one’s
freedom
The chapter ends as Gowther reveals
he must bid farewell, the next chapter promising 43 pages and Gowther’s
backstory.
One Piece 860
In a flashback, we see that Pekoms
is still confused at what’s going on, Aladdin explaining that they’re leaving
in secret, since they can’t outright tell Big Mom that, because she’d kill them
for being disloyal.
Jinbe explains that things worked
out better than he thought, since learning about Big Mom’s plan to assassinate
Germa 66’s leaders from Sanji means that Bege’s plot can work out better than
before. But he’s also worried that Luffy’s group will be reckless, so he has to
try and stop them, which will mean he has to completely abandon Big Mom.
At first, he tried to be honorable,
but when he saw Big Mom’s roulette he understood that she intended to take the
crew down with him if possible, along with the possibility of maiming him for
life, the roulette more complex than we initially thought.
Jinbe tells his crew that they need
to take advantage of the weaker security elsewhere in Totland to escape on the
day of the tea party, Aladdin saying that they’ll try to make sure he can
escape as well.
But Jinbe seems to be willing to
die, commenting that he may join the Straw Hats in the future and he may need
to sacrifice himself to protect Luffy.
Meanwhile, we see Judge and his
other children moving to the roof, mildly curious about why Reiju was moved to
a different room, but not letting it bother them too much.
The guests begin to arrive, many of
them involved in black market dealings and the like, begrudgingly tolerant of
each other, seemingly not on the best terms.
Perospero makes a candy escalator to
get them to the venue on time, since they came later than expected.
A guest demands to be let in, but is
killed by Big Mom’s second son, to the irritation of Bege. But Dogtooth, who
seems to have a Devil Fruit connected to jellybeans, has trained his
Observation Haki enough that he could see slightly into the future and killed
him preemptively to avoid more bloodshed. It turns out the guest was seeking
revenge for his father being killed after he didn’t attend the last party he
was invited to.
The chapter ends after we see
Smoothie offering drinks of various twisted sources with her Devil Fruit power
and Big Mom welcoming everyone to enjoy everything to their heart’s content.
Fairy Tail 527
Larcade is still calling Zeref his
father, begging for help. But Zeref says he has no family, shocking Natsu, as
the Dark Mage eliminates the Holy Dragon Slayer completely.
Natsu says Zeref is horrible to do
that to someone he considered a comrade, but Zeref insists he was nothing to
him, the Flame Dragon Slayer punching him down, saying that he couldn’t have
been his parent, with how he treated someone that claimed to be his child.
Meanwhile, Gildartz and Cana are
shocked to see August still has managed to survive, readying his sacrificial
attack
The power is such that it’s causing
people to be unable to breathe, even Mavis affected by it, unable to contact
the others.
But as August nears the completion
of his spell to annihilate the continent, he sees Mavis, who he realizes is his
mother (which feels like it won’t be sufficiently explained as to what happened
to cause his existence except perhaps Zeref and Mavis’ kiss, making a child of
immense magical power appear spontaneously). With this in mind, he gives up,
his body evaporating as he wishes he could’ve embraced his mother at least
once.
Gray, Lucy and Happy meet up with
Mavis, who reveals she acquired the Book of End after she tricked Zeref and
Eileen. She thinks Natsu will defeat Zeref and then the one thing that will
keep Natsu alive after destroying the book connected to him is the bonds he has
with his friends.
Back at the guild, Zeref tells Natsu
his curse makes it so he couldn’t truly have happiness, but Natsu says
happiness isn’t something you’re given, it’s something you make for yourself.
And if Zeref doesn’t even consider
Natsu family, then Natsu says he doesn’t think of Zeref as his brother either.
The chapter ends as they begin to
square off, Mavis thinking to herself that she’s found a way to defeat Zeref
that involves Natsu.
