Sadly, Red Sprite lasted even less
time than the author’s previous work, Iron Knight, concluding at 14 chapters.
It’s been a better year than 2015, which had a lot of cancellations by
comparison.
Shounen Jump also has another new
series, in the final issue of 2016 (because they start the next year in December
for various reasons). Ole Golazo. A soccer manga regarding a Tae Kwon Do
champion who gets interested in soccer and seems to have a talent for it
Black Clover 88
Asta and Finral prepare to attack
Fana, but she unleashes a rain of crystal blades, Asta recognizing the magic as
Mars’, also seeing Fana cast the healing magic he utilized
He asks Fana if she has a brother,
the Eye of the Midnight Sun’s Hatred saying she has no family except those from
her village, which she seeks vengeance for.
Asta decides to use his finishing
move, which is just him flying at the enemy with both swords pointed out like a
missile
Vanessa and Finral assist him,
combining their efforts together to fight this difficult opponent.
Asta stabs through Salamander with
Bull Thrust, defeating Fana as the Witch Queen observes their strength,
impressed at how unexpected it was.
Meanwhile, the Diamond Kingdom’s
Magic Warriors face off against Fanzel, who tries to get Mars to recognize him.
The other warrior near him, Randols, unleashes a blast that Fanzel slashes with
his sword, dispersing it.
The chapter ends as he resolves to
fix his past mistakes and begins to unleash the true power of his magic.
Boku no Hero Academia 117
Bakugou takes Deku to Ground Beta,
where they had their first fight at Yuuei in the 2 v 2 match with Iida and
Uraraka as their respective teammates.
He tells Deku how he’s always been
angry at how someone he thought was weak and useless, Quirkless, somehow was
accepted into Yuuei and got a Quirk seemingly at random. And the loss put salt
in the wound.
But after the Kamino incident,
Bakugou started to piece things together and discerned that Deku’s Quirk was
from All Might
Learning about All For One’s ability
to take away and bestow Quirks to others, he connected that back to All Might
and that Deku somehow acquired his from All Might, since All Might changed when
Deku entered Yuuei.
Deku realizes that this whole
realization by his rival is because he failed to keep his promise to maintain
secrecy about his Quirk being from All Might.
He asks Bakugou what would happen if
he confirmed this fact, Bakugou noting that they both respected All Might, but
that Deku, someone he thought was useless, was recognized by the person he
admired since he was young.
So Bakugou demands that he and Deku
fight, saying they can’t fight seriously with the teachers watching in a
training room. He wants to figure out why All Might trusts Deku so much with
his legacy and why he passed down his Quirk to someone like him.
Bakugou rushes at Deku, who narrowly
dodges his attack, the chapter ending as Bakugou says Deku needs to take this
seriously.
Seven Deadly Sins 201
King and Diane are still confused at
seeing someone who looks like Elizabeth with the form of a Goddess. Elizabeth
seems to ask Meliodas about something, but he says they need to move out, the
group heading towards some important location
The Sin of Sloth discerns that this
must be Britannia from 3000 years ago, not recognizing the landscape and also
noting that the Goddess Clan is extinct in the present.
Meliodas explains that they’re
heading for a human settlement under attack
The scene when they arrive is a
massacre, the Demons overwhelmingly more powerful.
Meliodas cuts a swath through some
of them, but Diane and King are approached by the predecessor of Zeldris,
Karmadios, whose Commandment will activate if they run away, seemingly the
precursor to Zeldris’ Piety.
Diane is attacked by the
Commandment, King motivated to protect her and unleashing a massive attack of
his own.
The two are shocked at the power
they possess now, thinking they have a chance to win in this conflict as the
Demon, with a massive wound, stands up to fight them with the chapter’s
conclusion
Magi 329
Aladdin and Sinbad continue to
bicker about who is in the right: Sinbad for granting a shared hope to the
world or Aladdin for wanting people to discern such things on their own.
Alibaba brings up the question of
whether he’s truly thinking himself rather than influenced by Sinbad’s
manipulation of the rukh.
But Sinbad notes that Alibaba, like Aladdin, is
somehow unaffected by Sinbad’s alteration of the Rukh, possibly because of his
experience of dying and coming back.
Alibaba tells Aladdin to try and
understand Sinbad’s perspective, since he wants to eliminate conflict from the
world.
He further notes that while he
respects Sinbad, he thinks the King of the Seven Seas has forgotten what made
their contest between businesses so fun. The unpredictability, both of them
being human and not knowing what would happen next, both sharing in the
experience of failure or success, all of these were negated by Sinbad becoming
a god like being.
With that ability, the competition
is boring, Alibaba feeling isolated from Sinbad now.
Sinbad asks them if they know how
the world is structured, explaining that Ugo was the god of this world, having
acquired the ability to alter the positions of said divine ranks.
With that power, Aladdin could
switch places with Ill Illah and steal its power, but he thinks that’s too
short sighted, lacking ambition.
Sinbad desires to surpass every god
he comes across, continuing to gain more and more power as he ascends to
greater heights.
Aladdin asks why he’d want to do
such a thing, Sinbad responding that it’s simple because he desires such power.
But in order for him to continue his rise to power, he’s considering
fundamentally altering the Rukh in a greater way.
This would mean he’d basically
eliminate everyone that doesn’t fit into his ideal, but Sinbad promises to take
Aladdin and Alibaba along.
Aladdin says Sinbad’s gone crazy,
but Sinbad retorts that the way of things now, with so many gods, means there
is no true justice or evil.
As he slams his arm on the desk, it
falls off, his body still something new to him after having become one with the
Rukh before.
The chapter concludes as Sinbad
insists that he remains human, his greed such that he will become greater than
any god.
One Piece 848
Big Mom is unimpressed at Luffy’s
attempt to provoke her, still on cloud nine about the power the upcoming
wedding will give her.
Meanwhile, the people keeping an eye
on Luffy and Nami are told there’s an intruder in the treasure room. Big Mom
discovers this, suddenly getting angry at the possibility of the Tamatebako
being stolen.
We shift over to Sanji, who’s still
trying to compose himself with the situation, deciding to put on a façade of
happiness so he doesn’t worry Pudding anymore.
Pudding is told about how Nami had
Lola’s Vivre Card and remembers her own situation of being forced to obey Big
Mom’s wishes, but also how Lola defied them to decide her own marriage.
The scene changes again to Pedro,
who’s attacking the guard and keeping them occupied.
Tamago is contacted by Smoothie, who
explains that Brook managed to get into the treasure room and lock them out.
She asks if she can kill him, Tamago noting that Brook is special, so Big Mom
would want to add him to her collection, so anything but killing is allowed.
Brook is fighting the Barbarian
Chess Soldiers that remain in the treasure room, wanting to sway their souls
with his music. He unleashes his soul, the wave of passion that he emits
seemingly taking them down, since they’re souls in the wrong bodies.
Pudding asks Opera, who’s looking
over Luffy and Nami, if she can talk to them, Opera allowing her in.
She tells Luffy about Sanji
proposing to her and how he’s likely doing this out of kindness to her. But she
tells them she won’t be marrying Sanji and then whispers something else, which
shocks Luffy and Nami.
The chapter ends as she leaves,
tearful as she bids farewell to them, seemingly planning to sacrifice herself
in some way
Fairy Tail 512
Sting emphasizes how he’ll surpass Natsu, but
Larcade regards him as little more than an annoyance, focused on purifying his
nephew’s heart.
The combined power of Sting and Rogue is pushing
Larcade back slightly, though he still dismisses it as ineffective overall,
unleashing his R.I.P. spell, the Eternal Sleep of Death
Sting is starting to be overcome by drowsiness, but
Rogue tells him to try and enter the shadows, done by feeling the gravity draw
him into the ground, to sharpen his senses
Kagura aids Sting by causing a shockwave with her
sword, Sting thrown into the Shadow World.
With that assistance, he utilizes a finishing move,
White Shadow Dragon’s Rough Silk, seemingly finishing off Larcade
Meanwhile, Natsu sees Rogue appear before him,
replacing Sting from before. He asks if Natsu knows that his scarf is made from
Igneel’s scales, the Flame Dragon Slayer saying he always knew that. But the
confusion is why it’s white instead of red. The explanation is that when the
scales are separated from the dragon, the color fades.
However, it wasn’t Igneel that knitted the scarf,
but Anna, Lucy’s ancient relative, who Zeref remembers from when he first met
her 400 years ago.
In the present, Natsu’s temperature is still
plummeting, Porylusica asking Lucy to take off her clothes, to use her body
heat to help Natsu.
As she starts, we hear Natsu talk about defeating
Zeref in his sleep, but Happy reveals that if he does that, he’ll die as well.
The chapter ends as the others are shocked to learn
of this connection between Natsu and Zeref, wondering what they can do.
