Black Clover 56

We find out that Poizot has done many heinous deeds, smuggling various high level magic items and potions as well as abusing his own brigade members.

He also was likely the source of the kingdom’s capital being infiltrated, capturing barrier mages in exchange for rare artifacts from the Eye of the Midnight Sun.

Julius tells the Magic Knights to look deeper into their members to see if they have any ties to the terrorist group as well, and to keep this secret from the public so as not to create a panic.

We see that Riya, the Faithless member of the Third Eye in the Eye of the Midnight Sun, has disguised himself with Transformation Magic, having infiltrated the group and spreading misinformation, possibly as Poizot himself or Marx.

Asta and Yami stay behind with Julius, the Wizard King explaining that there was one more thing they found out through their interrogation of the Eye of the Midnight Sun prisoners: they seek magic stones, which when placed into a giant stone slab at their headquarters, will grant them great power when they’re all brought together.

There are 3 left and they know the location of one of them, in a special magic region, the Underwater Temple. These are sources of immense mana, unpredictable phenomena occurring as a result, the aquatic region especially dangerous.

He wants them to go and get the stone before the Eye of the Midnight Sun does. The Black Bulls are the best squad for the job, not constrained by family ties or the like

Yami remembers his past, outcast because of his foreigner status and then gaining a grimoire, Julius amazed at his Shadow Magic and befriending him.

The Black Bull Captain vows to do this so he can prove that Julius is in the right, Asta following suit since Julius thinks his anti magic swords will help them in this mission.

As the two leave, Asta is still nervous, impressed that the Wizard King trusts him, Yami emphasizing that he does as well, encouraging his subordinate.

We see Gauche meeting with Teresa, still gruff, but grateful she’s alive and for her protecting his sister Marie.

Asta arrives, getting his robe back from Rebecca’s sibling, who had been kidnapped by an ally of the Eye of the Midnight Sun.

Noelle thinks that Asta needs her help, but he notes that he’s been beaten up when she’s with him as well.

Rebecca kisses Asta on the cheek in gratitude, the chapter ending as Noelle is upset, Marie also wanting to kiss the Black Bull Magic Knight, which makes Gauche angry as well.

Boku no Hero Academia 85

Deku is talking with his mom, confirming he’s okay, but she’s still worried, asking him if he might not want to even go back to Yuuei anymore.

We shift back to the present, the group heading out after discussing Iida’s motivation for going with them. He says it’s to serve as a balance to keep them in check, comparing himself to the Watchmen comics in a way.

Yaoyorozu thinks to herself that this plan is reckless, the others not really thinking this through properly, but she offers her services as a sort of compromise.

The group heads out to the location form Nagano, taking about 2 hours. They discuss how the others responded, Uraraka especially harsh in her opposition, since she thought Bakugou wouldn’t want to be rescued by the others.

Todoroki acknowledges this is based in a selfish motivation, but Deku thinks back to his conversation with his mother, noting that this power he got from All Might has been the source of his ability to go through with his desire to help others and he can’t back down now.

As they arrive, Yaoyorozu suggests that they need to disguise themselves so they won’t draw attention to themselves, going into what’s a parody of a store chain in Japan called Don Quijote, which has various oddities, including various stuff for cosplay or costuming.

Some bystanders notice something on a big screen television, Yuuei’s higher ups, specifically Nedzu, Vlad and Aizawa, apologizing for their negligence and inability to protect the students.

As this is going on, Shigaraki’s group is watching the press conference as well, speaking to Bakugou about how corrupt society is to reward Heroes with direct compensation instead of following an ideal where Heroes aren’t treated like a common law enforcement official or the like.

There is a stricter standard for Heroes, but this creates unreasonable expectations, not even allowing for mistakes from the elite Heroes, but seeing them as exemplars, perfect examples for everyone else to follow.

Shigaraki asks his comrades to free Bakugou, saying that with the situation as it is, the Explosion Hero can’t expect to win if he tries to fight back.

Compress says that in spite of everyone having such different circumstances, they aren’t a group just causing destruction for its own sake, they have a goal in mind.

But Bakugou blasts Shigaraki in the face, rejecting the ideals of the Villain Alliance.

He thinks they’re just posturing, trying to seem edgy and different to draw people in, but All Might inspired him, so that kind of attitude is what drives him, the Villains’ goals and methods not affecting him a bit.

The chapter ends on this conflict, Shigaraki looking at the hand blown off his face, speaking to it again as his father, making us wonder what the nature of his Quirk truly is.

Seven Deadly Sins 169

Jericho tells Gowther that his logic doesn’t make sense, that he shouldn’t kill people to gain a heart to feel regret about it. But he responds that she made a sacrifice for power herself. She admits this, but retorts that doing such things to get what you want will only hurt yourself in the process.

Hawk notes how Gowther’s power level is now 3100, Jericho’s at 280. He notes how his own power level must’ve increased, looking to Escanor, who is begging Dolor and Gloxinia to let him default out of the match.

They reject his offer, Escanor pleading to change the rules, since he can’t bring himself to fight Gowther and Jericho.

Gloxinia thinks this is the whole point of the tournament, showing how desperate humans are, but Dolor thinks Escanor’s pathetic, since he’s even crying out to Meliodas for help

The Ten Commandments can’t perceive Meliodas’s mindset, since his heart is somehow closed off, from even magical means.

Escanor and Hawk continue to debate, but Jericho and Gowther are also fighting, the Sin of Lust noting how the term “comrade” is vague, Jericho saying that it means a person you’ve gotten a connection with through the heart by suffering together.

Gowther then says that’s all the more reason he wants a heart. Jericho attacks him, kicked away by the Goat’s Sin. Hawk tries to assault him as well, but Gowther defeats him with one blow, leaving Escanor as the only opponent.

Escanor has “Jack” used on him, Gowther then moving to finish him with Nightmare Terror.

The Lion’s Sin sees his past, a rivalry with his brother unleashing his power, ostracized by his kingdom, seen as cursed, and forced to flee, helped by a servant.

He then met Merlin and Meliodas, both of them not afraid of him. Escanor slowly grew to love Merlin, since she treated him like a normal person, fascinated by his abilities.

But then Gowther’s illusion starts to become clear, Merlin telling him that she cannot be with a man who will die from what she calls a curse, regarding him as merely a test subject.

The darkness begins to surround Escanor, Gowther leaving him in his state.

But Escanor recovers, saying that he’s fine with Merlin never loving him, because she keeps him rooted, stable, like his sun that illuminates him in the darkness.

The chapter ends as Escanor’s power begins to return, ready to defeat Gowther and put him down to never twist another person’s mind.

World Trigger 138

Yuma takes Yoko’s challenge, the 2 clashing as Yoko’s teammates go to assist her.

Meanwhile, Kakizaki unit has a member tempted to attack the 2 aces while they’re fighting, but their captain says they need to prioritize their rendezvous.

Chika has gotten the high ground, an advantage for a Sniper. Osamu tells Usami to keep her safe, while he fires an Asteroid barrage to distract Kotori.

She decides to target Osamu instead, the other teammates following suit.

But as she rushes towards him, Yoko is caught on one of Osamu’s Spider lines. Chika follows up by attacking Yoko with her Lead Bullet/Lightning combo, one of her teammates hit by the Lead Bullet instead. They chop off his arm to remove the Lead Bullet, now more weakened than before.

Yuma uses Spider wires that Osamu placed to slash at Rokuro, the team at a disadvantage with the mobility Tamakoma-2 has and with Chika having a range and speed advantage as well.

Since only Tamakoma 2 can see the wires, the other teammates would only view them as a nuisance, while Yuma can use them to increase his speed and agility in a fight with them unable to see where they are.

Their loss in the 4th round motivated them all to change strategies and improve themselves, this advantage emphasized as the chapter ends, Kakizaki ready to move out, Tamakoma 2 ready to counterattack and Katori still somewhat pinned down

Magi 300

The fact that Aladdin hasn’t left this world makes Alibaba more interested as to what he can discover regarding the Magi’s location.

Titus can’t contact Aladdin anymore, but he was told by Aladdin that he was going to research some way to use the great power of a Magi in a way that doesn’t ruin the world as Gyokuen tried to with Al Thamen.

From time to time, Titus can sense Aladdin’s presence, but he remains hidden. They agree that he must have his reasons, moving onto economic discussions.

Since Reim didn’t enter the International Alliance, trade was difficult for them, since they’re severely limited in the water routes they can travel and how many airships they can use.

Alibaba thinks how this is still unjust in some sense, those in the Alliance treated differently than those outside it, somewhat undermining Sinbad’s goal of an ideal and perfect world.

Titus says he’ll discuss the use of the teleportation circles with the Senate and in the meantime, introduces Alibaba’s old friends Olba, Toto and some others.

He discovers that Olba and Toto married and had children, more depressed than before, since he hasn’t even seen Morgiana, the only person he thought he had a chance with in a relationship.

Olba explains how he agreed to help Hakuryuu in spite of their disagreements. But they never saw Judal, meaning he, Morgiana, Aladdin and Hakuryuu have all been missing for a few years.

Everyone’s impressed at the use of the magic Scheherazade utilized for the transportation of troops in the last war for a new purpose.

The next stop is Parthevia, the center of the world, Alibaba putting his worries about Sinbad aside for now to improve the state of the Kou Empire so he can find out more about where his friends are.

The chapter concludes as Titus talks to his allies about how Reim has to stand proud in the face of the International Alliance

Bleach 669

We resume with Yachiru explaining that this power she gave Kenpachi is Bankai, the Soul Reaper still confused.

There’s a massive burst of reiatsu, Kenpachi’s new form having red skin and his cleaver shrinking slightly in size.

Gerard thinks it’s not much of a transformation, since it’s mostly just a spike in his spiritual pressure.

The Quincy moves to smash him, thinking Hoffnung isn’t even worthy of defeating the Soul Reaper.

But Kenpachi suddenly screams, tearing off Gerard’s right arm entirely. We even see that he has smaller horns coming out of his forehead, making him look like an oni or the like.

Before Gerard can finish his retort that dismembering him will do nothing, Kenpachi leaps up, cutting through his previously impenetrable shield, damaging his face slightly.

Gerard’s been pushed off the edge, but he summons wings, redoubling his efforts. The Quincy can’t countenance that a mere Soul Reaper has pushed him, moving to finish off Kenpachi, who’s standing at the edge, ready to fight.

Kenpachi slashes again, this time the force cutting Gerard in half, the chapter ending on this seeming defeat (though he still has Vollstandig to reveal, most likely, or the full extent of his Miracle power)

One Piece 822

Chopper and Yagino patch up Zunishia’s leg, the Mink impressed at Chopper’s medical expertise.

He thinks that they’ve become too complacent and took their status for granted of living on the giant elephant, wondering where it’s heading in its endless travels.

Momonosuke tells Kinemon he wishes to stay behind in Zou to talk with Zunishia. Dogstorm says he’ll stay with him and bring the young lord to Wano later.

So we see that they’ll be splitting into 4 groups: one staying in Zou, one heading to Whole Cake Island where Sanji’s wedding is to take place, one to search for Marco and the last to head back to Wano.

They need some way to keep in contact, Den Den Mushi a possibility since there are wild ones on Zou that Franky can adjust

Luffy finds Pekoms, the Mink revealing he ate the Turtle Turtle Zoan fruit, making his shell as hard as diamond.

Chopper will be in charge of his treatment, the Mink thankful to them.

Pedro and Sicilian debate with Catviper as to who should go and save Sanji, even Wanda and Tristan wanting to go. Catviper concludes it must be Pedro, since he can keep Pekoms under control.

Nami’s Clima Tact has been improved by Usopp and Franky, the navigator overly excited about the potential and bailing on Usopp before he can ask for payment.

Luffy’s group to save Sanji is now 6: himself, Pekoms, Nami, Brooke, Chopper and Pedro.

Everyone bids Luffy’s group farewell as the Rubber Man jumps off the elephant with everyone else in his group wrapped around his arms.

The chapter ends as we see Vivi from the Alabasta Kingdom is heading out to sea after her long hiatus as a temporary member of the Straw Hat crew.

Toriko 366

As Jirou readies himself to use 100% of his power, the Blue Nitro pull out various cooking utensils, prepared to cook and eat him, since they can’t conceive of killing someone with this much potential and letting it go to waste.

They explain how all Nitro are embodiments of appetite, never truly dying as long as there is food or appetite in the world. In exchange for not being able to reproduce, they have a sort of immortality in being reborn constantly after they die.

The Troll types, such as the Red and Blue Nitro, were especially enduring, in no small part due to their cooking, preserving food and even themselves with cryptobiosis.

The golden can they planned to use for NEO will now be used on Jirou, preparing him while still alive and preserving him for eternity in the untouchable material of the can.

Jirou breaks the bonds made from the golden material, countering each attack with a new Knocking technique or otherwise immense physical strength.

He sends one flying into the sky with Big Bang, defeats another with Guinness Punch and even uses Eternal Knocking on another after seemingly using Knocking that freezes time itself temporarily.

But suddenly NEO appears, taking off Jirou’s head. The chapter ends as Acacia manifests, the two ready to square off as Jirou is still able to talk in spite of his decapitation

Fairy Tail 480

Natsu goes to Brandish’s cell, where she willfully returned, thanking her for saving him.

The news of Jacob’s defeat makes Brandish think Zeref was right to tell them not to underestimate Fairy Tail.

But she says that the worst is yet to come, since August is a month of catastrophe in Arakitashia folklore, sharing the name with the greatest mage in the Spriggan 12, August.

As the guild is repairing the building, Warren says that the radar is being jammed by a powerful force, the others thinking it must be August, the King of Wizards, with his breadth of arcane powers.

Cana, meanwhile, has gone with Mavis to the underground chamber where her physical body is. The First Guild Master says that she’s figured out a plan to defeat Zeref, but she can’t explain it yet, the first step being to get her body out of the Lacryma crystal.

The method will be to use Fairy Glitter and destroy Mavis’ thought projection body, fully shattering the crystal. Her body should still be alive thanks to the magic Precht used on it generations ago.

Cana is reluctant, but Mavis insists, saying this may be their only chance to defeat Zeref and it has to involve some sacrifice on their part.

Meanwhile, Gajeel’s group is looking at the forces in northern Fiore, waiting for Sabertooth and Blue Pegasus to back them up while they hold them off here.

But they’re shocked to see both Sabertooth and Blue Pegasus have been completely defeated, put up on crucifixes to be shown as an example of the overwhelming power that defeated them.

Back in southern Fiore, Gray’s group is fighting to keep Wendy and Laxus safe while they’re recovering.

We see that Erza’s group, along with Jellal’s assistance, have been assaulted by some phantasm, manifesting as Simon, Kagura’s brother and Erza and Jellal’s companion in their youth.

But it’s revealed that it’s the magic of Neinhart of the Spriggan 12, called Historia, revisiting their tragic past to make them waver in their resolve, the chapter ending as we see the Spriggan’s form.
