Slight delay with Magi. Though if it’s any consolation, we’re apparently getting to the final arc, but if it’s anything like Bleach, we could still see Magi for another few years before it concludes, as Bleach inevitably will also end.

Boku no Hero Academia 59

The boys are changing in the locker room after the training, Deku wondering what All Might meant about what he wanted to tell him. Minoru pulls him over to show that he found a peeping hole into the girl’s locker room. But Jirou, featured at the beginning of the chapter, stabs him in the eye with her Earphone Jacks, the others saying they should plug up the hole soon.

Deku enters the break room, All Might starting to tell him about his past. But before that, he mentions that since Stain licked Deku’s blood, he might acquire a piece of One For All’s power. However,  All Might qualifies that it won’t be passed on to Stain, because Deku has to will it to happen.

All Might begins to explain how the origin of One For All is from an older Quirk, All For One, which can steal Quirks and bestow them on others. It began back when Quirks were still new to society.

When they emerged, people began to spiral into despair and the like because of the novelty of such a trait for what were otherwise humans like everyone else. The user of All For One took advantage of this, stealing Quirks and manipulating people as he spread Quirks around, taking over Japan quickly.

The gifting of Quirks was how he gained loyal followers or kept people in check. But some people became comatose from the strain of being bestowed the powers, similar to Noumu in a way.

The first user of One For All was the younger brother of All For One’s user, who granted him a Quirk that stockpiles power. This unlocked the latent power of One For All’s user to pass on the Quirk to others, a weaker version of his older brother’s Quirk.

All For One’s Quirk user somehow managed to acquire a Quirk to stop his aging, which allowed him to persist even to this day. His younger brother passed on his power, All Might seemingly the one who was thought to be able to stop him after the many inheritors through the years. But somehow, All For One managed to survive the attack and is now behind the Villain Alliance.

All Might is concerned that Deku might have to face him, but Deku is encouraged by the trust his mentor puts in him to take on the challenge. But All Might thinks to himself that he won’t be able to stand by his student’s side when that time comes, since he’ll likely die by the Quirk’s eventual transition.

The next day, Aizawa tells the class that once exams are done, anyone who passes them can go to a summer retreat, encouraging Minoru and other perverts to do their best and also cheer on the girls with the promise of more peeking.

Deku thinks of the responsibility he has and how All Might technically didn’t tell him much in terms of his own backstory.

We shift to where All For One is being treated, thinking that the Villain Alliance will draw in all the best Villains, Shigaraki the one to stand at the top and unite them as a leader.

It turns out All For One has a super regeneration Quirk, though it’s apparently only effective enough to slowly heal him, possibly how he survived the grievous wounds All Might gave him.

The chapter ends as we see his face, seemingly not there, the healing rendering him with only a mouth and just a fleshy rest of his head, not unlike a Noumu in some manners, though without the exposed brain, as he says that this peace will soon end.

Seven Deadly Sins 140

As we return briefly to the present, we find that the werefox has a son that he seeks to meet on the other side, Ban remembering that Zhivago had a son. He’s about Ban’s age, though Ban doesn’t really know his own age, even revealing he likely doesn’t know his parents, having a rough upbringing.

We see Ban has been caught by someone who told him to go steal food, enraged that he ate instead of bringing it to them, punching him so hard he vomits. The thief tries to eat the vomit, disgusting everyone as they kick him out of the tavern.

He’s then tricked by a couple who try to sell him off to a noble known for torturing and killing children.

But Zhivago manages to save him, the events happening after they escaped prison. Ban asks the thief to teach him how to steal, but Zhivago warns him that it will make him an outcast.

Ban decides he will, sleeping after Zhivago says he’ll keep an eye out for his father, who was apparently the one abusing him before.

As the two bond over learning how to steal from people, Zhivago tells Ban about the Fountain of Youth in the Fairy King’s Forest, Ban interested in it. Zhivago says he can’t go that far from his sons, Ban wondering why he only goes at night.

The thief says it’s to avoid the suspicions of the knights. Zhivago says he has two sons, Therion and Ban, which makes the child happy that he’s seen as such.

But Zhivago tells Ban to not trust humans, Ban responding that he trusts Zhivago, which touches his heart.

The two have a plan to raid a mansion, Ban trying to steal the item himself, but getting caught.

The werefox speaks about how he failed his sons, revealing that he was Zhivago. After he overslept, he rushed to help Ban, but heard about a group of knights going to find a werefox child in the mountains.

Divided between saving his adopted son and his son by blood, he was too indecisive, Therion nearly dead by the time he reached the cave and Ban’s status unknown to him as he left town.

In the present, Zhivago mourns how he was such a failure, feeling like be betrayed his human son by going to save his werefox son, but Ban tells him that he didn’t make the wrong decision, saying that he was right to save his actual son and leave him.

Ban even saw Zhivago like a father, the werefox overwhelmed with happiness to meet his estranged child, the chapter ending as they embrace.

World Trigger 115

Kageura seems to have an advantage over Yuma in their fight and Tamakoma is behind by 1 point, Ninomiya, Kageura and Azuma squad tied with 2 points each.

This motivates Ninomiya to try and take the two Attackers out with a Hound assault, bombarding them from above.

Yuma is in danger, Osamu wondering if he can find somewhere to get cover.

The Neighbor instead opts to leap at Ninomiya with a Grasshopper as he moves in to finish them off. Kako notes that this move might’ve been more dangerous, since Hound is meant to push opponents into their line of fire, Yuma’s body punched full of holes with Ninomiya’s attack.

As he tries to strike out at Ninomiya with Scorpion, somewhat imitating Kageura’s technique of extending the attack’s range, he runs out of Trion, Bailing Out and ensuring that Tamakoma 2 will not maintain their winning streak in the Rank Wars.

Yuma apologizes, but everyone thinks that he did well to get 1 point with all that action and the Neighbor compliments Chika on progressing to trying to shoot human opponents.

There’s a lull in the match, everyone spreading out and holding their positions, only Ninomiya, Kageura and Azuma left to fight. There are risks to attacking any of them, especially since Azuma is all but perfectly concealed, Ninomiya has his general A rank level skill and Kageura can’t really be surprised with his Side Effect.

It’s basically a standoff, Ninomiya Squad winning by one point with their captain taking out Yuma in the last major conflict as the match times out (first time this has happened).

Tamakoma moves down to 8th, while everyone else maintains their present rankings because there was no significant point gain or the like.

Kazama comments that the aces in each team got the points, the supporting members really showing the differences in their skills. Ema and Kitazoe managed to give support to Kageura so he could get 2 kills, Azuma squad using the terrain to aid their Sniper and Tsuji and Inukai being more aggressive and allowing Ninomiya to fight well on his own.

The A Rank attacker also thinks that Osamu’s growth wasn’t good enough, since his tactics were still too predictable and should really just focus on being the strategist for their team. Arashiyama thinks he’s being harsh, but Kitora thinks he’s actually being soft, since she knows he fought Osamu in the past and saw his skill in fighting with a disadvantage.

The chapter ends as we see Osamu thinking about what he can do as captain, asking Jin to join Tamakoma 2.

One Piece 800

Luffy says he doesn’t want to drink the sake, everyone startled, wondering why he doesn’t want this kind of power. Bartolomeo even suggests that Luffy will need all this support if he’s to become the Pirate King.

But the Straw Hat captain thinks everyone’s being too uptight, his nose sensing that there’s a lot of food nearby. Other members of the potential alliance are irritated at how Luffy is basically thumbing his nose at their gratitude or just ignoring their desire to repay him.

Luffy responds that he doesn’t want to be so fancy or formal about this. Their bond is unspoken in his eyes, both allies having an agreement to help the other if they’re in danger, Luffy vowing to do so for them as much as they’d do if he was being attacked.

Bartolomeo realizes that Luffy’s idea of a Pirate King is rooted in a freedom, not a bond of loyalty.

Suddenly there’s cannon fire, not from the Marines, but from a group of pirates who had deals with Doflamingo that Luffy ruined. They’re targeting him and intend to force King Riku to process their arrangement with Joker.

Luffy’s fleet decides that the arrangement is already sealed and they move to make their drinks and declare their loyalty formally on their end.

The people of Dressrosa are still trying to keep Fujitora occupied, but the Admiral decides to drop the rubble on the opposing pirate crew as a way to thank Luffy as they depart.

The 7 main captains: Hajrudin, Leo, Bartolomeo, Cavendish, Sai, Ideo and Orlumbus, all make a solemn pledge to protect and support Luffy as his comrades.

The feast is set to begin as everyone tells Luffy that he doesn’t need to worry about being responsible for them, that they’ve made their choice to serve him and he should just continue doing as he pleases.

As everyone departs, Fujitora is protecting them by having all the rubble miss the ships, frustrating the Marines as he declares that Luffy has done more to keep the world safe than the World Government has.

The chapter ends as the feast starts in earnest as everyone celebrates their victory over Doflamingo, the narrator speaking of how great their alliance will become in the future.

Bleach 643

Bleach qualification again: it seems that with Number 5 of the Nemuri project, it wasn’t solely that Mayuri modified his Zanpakutou, but this accomplishment allowed him to become a captain, suggesting he had already achieved Bankai, but altered Ashisogi Jizou with the research he had done with the Nemuri project. Or he somehow achieved Bankai because of the Nemuri research, it’s not entirely clear even with Viz’s translation.

Bottom line seems to be that Ashisogi Jizou’s ability to be altered, along with other Zanpakutou, might’ve been accomplished through the research that led to Nemu’s eventual creation.

It seems like Nemu has defeated Pernidas, but as she falls, thinking that she may have been some use to Mayuri, the pieces of the Quincy revive and send their nerves into the Soul Reaper, tearing her to pieces.

The 12th division captain is in disbelief, hallucinating Szayelaporro in his mind, who thinks it’s very unlike him to despair at a situation like this. He even brings up how Nemu is manmade and only reflects how imperfect she was. So Mayuri, by his own logic, should just try to make her better, according to the Espada.

But then it occurs to Szayelporro that maybe Mayuri saw Nemu as perfection and now that she’s defeated, he has no options left to pursue in this fight. The twisted Arrancar scientist thinks Mayuri should be grateful to Pernidas, since he took him down a peg from his arrogance.

However Mayuri responds that Szayelporro is right, somewhat irritated to have to admit such a thing as he returns to reality.

Pernidas crashes next to Mayuri, starting to eat Nemu’s corpse. Mayuri says he can do so, but he’ll personally take the cerebrum for research purposes, grabbing it out of Pernidas’ grasp.

As the Quincy attacks him, Mayuri manages to paralyze the nerves again, and emphasizes that since the Quincy is taking his time eating Nemu, he’ll die soon.

It turns out Nemu’s pituitary gland has a “forced accelerated cellular breakdown organ” (translation might be improved by Viz, we’ll see next week) inserted into it, likely so that her cells won’t break down as fast. Since Pernidas consumed it without the cerebrum, it initiated accelerated cell regeneration to the point where he’ll die.

The chapter ends as it seems Pernidas might be defeated with Nemu’s final sacrifice.

Toriko 339

Midora’s Meteor Spice causes massive destruction, Joa managing to avoid it with Tokage.

It seems Zaus has come to his senses after the attack, Joa’s bacteria no longer controlling him. They retreat, Teppei asking the chef where Joa’s Golden Cookware is, so he can take it with him.

Midora and Joa continue to fight, Midora’s Hungry Space creating a huge hole in the NEO base as Joa sucks him away with Tokage, teleporting them to a location in Area 2.

Joa says that they have to keep the ship safe from Midora’s attacks, Midora saying he’ll chase them to the ends of the earth. The chef responds that Acacia’s disciples all have the capacity to destroy the entire earth, but only Midora would be so reckless to do such a thing.

Joa then utilizes Warp Kitchen, explaining that it’s a space where time flows especially slow in order to help with preparing Acacia’s Full Course, such as ANOTHER, which takes hundreds of thousands of years by their understanding.

The Warp Kitchen is seen as another memory of Gourmet Cells, even used as a way to make cooking the Earth faster by comparison and taste that unknown ingredient.

Joa’s Gourmet Cell Demon comes out, saying that Midora’s anger is like the buzzing of a fly in comparison to the great vastness of time that will be spent seeking out new ingredients and tastes.

Midora responds that he’ll make sure they remember him with a wound that their Gourmet Cells will never forget and will even tell them his Full Course, leaving them with that as time slowly ticks away towards their death.

Meanwhile, we see that Jirou managed to punch the beast into space, but it ate his hand at the last moment.

Setsuno gives him some Cure Water as Chichi explains that NEO is the Gourmet Cell Demon inside Acacia, which has been revived and suppressed over billions of years through the Nitro’s efforts. The possibility of NEO being resurrected again worries Chichi, thinking that no one can stop it, even with the combined efforts of all the Blue Nitro.

The sheer power of Acacia with NEO even partially awakened seems to dwarf everyone else, Jirou planning to undo his seals and Chichi wanting to combine his efforts with Kaka and Jiji

The chapter ends as we’re told that the only thing that might have a chance to stop NEO would be Don Slime, who was Ichiryuu’s Gourmet Cell Demon, now apparently separate from him after his death.

Fairy Tail 452

The chapter begins with Brandish forcing Marin, still shrunk from a while ago, to paint her nails. As he starts to do so, another of the Spriggan 12, Dimaria, tells Brandish that they’ve been ordered to assemble.

She leaves, Brandish annoyed at her, since she’s not cute in the slightest.

Meanwhile, everyone’s eager to figure out what Natsu’s secret weapon is, but he won’t reveal it, simply saying that it’s one-time use, but he designed it specifically to fight Zeref. The guild thinks that’s sufficient to put their trust in him.

Lucy asks Makarov to explain more about Alvareth’s empire, particularly the Spriggan 12.

At the head is Zeref, of course, the Black Mage of legend. Makarov could only meet up with 6 of the Spriggan 12, since it’s rare for them to all be in one place and Alvareth is a large region.

We shift to the meeting, 7 of the 12 appearing, which makes Zeref somewhat happy. Apparently one called Nineheart is somewhere in the building, but not at the table.

Imber thinks that this is an insult to Zeref, Azir saying that they should just start now to weed out the most elite.

Makarov has only heard about Imber slightly, suggesting that his title of Winter General means he controls ice, while Azir, which they fought before, is known as a warmongerer even among the other Spriggan 12.

Brandish reluctantly agrees with Zeref’s orders in spite of herself being misanthropic. Dimaria says that she’s disliked because she’s too blunt with her words, but Brandish retorts that she hates people, the War Maiden responding that they’re alike in that respect.

Brandish is considered lazy in a way by Makarov, but her power is very dangerous nonetheless, called the Nationbreaker.

Dimaria is merely known by Makarov to be a female knight with her title of War Maiden, suggesting she may be Erza’s rival as a mage.

But the most threatening of the ones that Makarov knows are in the Spriggan 12 is God Serena, formerly of the 10 Wizard Saints.

Zeref asks him if he will have any issue attacking his homeland, Serena saying that it won’t be a problem, adding a theatrical flourish that annoys Brandish.

However, even Mage King August makes God Serena seem weak, apparently boasting more power than any of the other members and knowing more magic than even Zeref somehow.

Makarov knows of three more: Nineheart, Bloodman and Wahru.

We see Wahru, a man with a somewhat reptilian appearance, wondering if Zeref is just going to pursue Mavis. But Zeref says that his goal is the magic that came from her and the annihilation of all humanity.

Azir thinks he will be sufficient, but Zeref says that they need to show the greatness of their power with all their armies advancing on Ishgar.

Mavis comments that this battle is more dangerous than any other, with the amount of strength their enemies possessing dwindling anything they’ve seen before.

Both parties are galvanized to fight with both leaders’ encouragement, the chapter ending as we see Acnologia taking on his dragon form and moving to destroy everyone.
