A source tells me Naruto Gaiden will only be around for about 7 more weeks, counting this chapter, so we’ll get a lot of interesting developments with this limited release.

It seems Magi is on break this week, so we'll get back to it next time.

Naruto 700 +4

Naruto faces Shin, saying he needs to finish this quick, the Uchiha activating his Sharingan. We see it’s a new kind of Master Sharingan, a shuriken appearing behind Naruto to attack him as he initiates the Kyuubi Chakra mode.

The shuriken splits into multiple blades that rain at Naruto, but he uses chakra arms to stop them, Kurama commenting on how long it’s been. The Hokage attacks Shin, who manages to dodge, Chouchou fawning over how awesome Naruto is.

The mysterious Zetsu/Juubi figure appears next to Shin, saying they have to retreat for now, sucking him away with what appears to be Obito’s space time jutsu.

Chouchou thinks Naruto could be her dad, the Jinchuuriki thinking she’s a bit touched in the head. She thought that Shin was after her, but Naruto says it was more likely Sarada. She asks why, Naruto comforting the Uchiha by saying he’ll take care of things.

Naruto concludes that the pair should come with him, since they’re safest with his real body. He even comments they might find Sasuke, Sarada excited.

Chouchou wonders what Sasuke’s like, Naruto first saying Sarada can tell her, but remembers that she’s never really met him.

Sarada gives Naruto the bento from Bolt, Naruto remembering when Sasuke gave him part of his bento back when they were training as genin.

As they finish, Sarada, asks Naruto to tell her about Sasuke. Naruto exaggerates a bit, saying that he and Sasuke were alike in their popularity and grades, but concludes he wasn’t the friendliest person. But Naruto recognizes Sasuke as his rival, commenting on how Sarada resembles him in some ways, but also Sakura, especially in her personality.

The group travels on, Sarada thinking to herself how at ease she feels around Naruto.

Sarada separates from the group after they take a break, using the excuse of going to the bathroom. But she goes ahead to try to meet Sasuke, her Sharingan starting to activate.

At the tower, she meets up with Sasuke, who assumes she’s an enemy as the chapter ends on him approaching her with a blade.

Boku no Hero Academia 42

The chapter begins with us in the middle of Bakugou and Tokoyami’s fight. The Dark Shadow Quirk user can’t keep up any offense, only managing defense against the light emitting from the explosions.

Tokoyami’s Dark Shadow is getting worn out, losing darkness to power itself. Bakugou jumps over, Tokoyami trying to grab him, but Bakugou blasts it again, getting behind Tokoyami.

He puts his hands together, releasing a Stun Grenade. In the disturbance, he pins Tokoyami, making him give up.

The finals are set up for Todoroki and Bakugou.

Everyone’s excited, Iida telling Deku and Ochako they should plan their strategy from this upcoming fight.

The Engine user gets a call from his mother, who tells him that his brother has been attacked by a Villain, which I didn’t notice was hinted at last chapter (look at the top panel on the last page, that suit is Ingenium’s).

The Villain, Hero Killer Stain, is approached by Black Mist, one of Shigaraki’s allies from the attack on Class A prior to the Sports Festival, who offers him a place in their ranks.

Todoroki is thinking about how he finally started understanding his situation thanks to Deku.

Bakugou bursts in, mistaking the waiting room numbers. Todoroki says that Deku surprised him with how much he sacrificed just to help him. Noting that Bakugou was Deku’s childhood friend, he asks if he was always like that, Bakugou brushing that aside.

The Explosion Quirk user says he doesn’t care about any of that, that he’ll be number one.

The chapter concludes as their match begins, setting up the tension for what I feel will actually not be completely finished (not unlike Gaara versus Sasuke in Naruto)

World Trigger 102

We see that Nasu has started more aggressive Shooter tactics, now that she knows Chika’s relative position. That was a cause for concern initially, but now that she’s near the end of the overall battle, she’s got to get the points she can.

Using the buildings as cover and her own agility, she’s fighting as she commonly does. Her focus now is on Kuruma, leaving her Operator to monitor Osamu and Chika.

Kuruma’s in the most danger now because he’s lost his supports. Taichi and Kou would both protect him if he’s in danger because their team works like that in terms of general strategy.

Konami and the others at Tamakoma ask Hyuse what he’d do, the Neighbor noting that they should prioritize acting together as a team, since only Yuma can function as the point for an Attacker strategy.

But we see that Chika is actually using Hyuse’s strategy under Osamu’s command. She takes out the dam, increasing the water level. Both Nasu and Kuruma now have issues with their mobility.

Nasu fires a Tomahawk blast, hoping to take out Kuruma. But he manages to Shield himself and fire a Hound blast. Nasu defeats Kuruma with another Tomahawk shot, but she’s damaged on her arm by the Hound that Kuruma unleashed.

Osamu tries to take this momentum and uses his Raygust’s Thruster to attack Nasu. But she had set her own trap, directing some of her Tomahwak to come back to her. She even comments on his inexperience as she defeats him, gaining 2 more points, meaning her team is in the lead now with 3 points, Osamu’s group only having 2 at the moment, Kuruma’s only managing to acquire one.

We see Yuma has gotten out of the river, thanks to Chika, who’s hiding now, and he and Nasu face off.

But, shockingly, Nasu’s Trion body has run out, Bailing Out as the competition concludes, the score Tamakoma-2: 4 (2 Survival Points for Yuma and Chika and 2 defeats by Yuma), Nasu: 3 (all by the squad captain), and Suzunari-1: 2, since Kuruma got the point for beating Nasu for causing the Trion leak.

The chapter concludes with commentary from Jin that all 3 captains did well, Osamu specifically targeting Nasu and taking a risk in his attempt to get a point.

Seven Deadly Sins 126

We see that Diane still remembers King, but only as he was in the Seven Deadly Sins originally. She calls Meliodas by his original name, instead of Captain and doesn’t even recognize Elizabeth.

Merlin speculates it’s due to the blow to her head, but Hawk says Diane didn’t remember him either, trying to eat the talking pig immediately.

We see Slader trying to get clothes on Gowther, seemingly under his influence like Guila was before.

Diane is talking to King and starts to forget the Seven Deadly Sins even exist, causing King to tell Merlin, who decides to take a look at the giantess directly.

We find that Diane has left, King asking what could’ve happened.

Gowther explains that he erased her memories from after she joined the Seven Deadly Sins.

King demands to know why, Gowther explaining that after he restored Guila, he recalled that Diane said that memories were precious and couldn’t be gone forever, since she remembered her past with King.

The Sin of Lust then proceeded to experiment, getting rid of her memories, proving they have some kind of substance.

King inquires as to what made him feel the need to do this, Gowther saying there wasn’t any need for emotions in his experiment. King seems angry, but he qualifies he’s more disappointed in Gowther, punching him with Chastiefol’s pillow form.

The group leaves to find Diane, Meliodas commenting that she was in her homeland before she joined, the chapter concluding as we find that it’s called Megadozer, north of Edinburgh. Diane is seeking out Matrona, meaning we’ll be getting more backstory on her and the giant clan eventually.

Next time we’ll get Diane’s Gaiden (leaving only 4 to cover overall)

One Piece 787

Sabo asks if Burgess has anything to say as we begin. Burgess is shocked to find out that Sabo, Ace and Luffy are brothers, remembering his fight with Ace 2 years ago alongside Blackbeard.

The Revolutionary tells Burgess to be warned that he’ll be watching Luffy’s back.

Burgess says he has no quarrel with Sabo, the Revolutionary revealing his Flame Flame Fruit that he stole after posing as Luffy in the coliseum.

Sabo tells Luffy he’ll handle Burgess, Luffy explaining that Gatz and the others will hold off Doflamingo.

Luffy and Gatz leave, Burgess swiping at Sabo with Galleon Lariat, which goes right through Sabo’s Logia body. Sabo combines his martial arts with the Flame Flame powers, creating Blaze Dragon King, which blows Burgess back, burning him as well.

Gatz is told by Luffy that Sabo took his place in the finals, the announcer shrugging it off. He looks back and sees that Doflamingo is still fighting strong, killing gladiators left and right.

People are still trying to get away from Bird Cage, Zoro deciding he’s going to hold it back by coating his swords in Haki and pushing at the strings.

Viola has this told to her by Robin, both of them impressed at their resolve. We see Franky encouraging the Tontatta to push the Smile factory, hoping to hold off Birdcage’s progress.

Meanwhile, people are trying to get to the new Royal Plateau, but Doflamingo’s lackeys left behind are pushing them back.

Suddenly, the previously injured coliseum warriors, restored by Mansherry’s Heal Heal Fruit, step in to protect the people and help them to safety.

The chapter ends as Doflamingo speeds up Birdcage, the time until it gets to the center only 3 minutes, while Luffy still has 4 minutes to recover Haki, meaning something’s going to have to change in order to allow the Rubber Man to come back.

Bleach 627

Everyone’s getting ready, but Yukio says he won’t move an inch. Ganju is astonished, the Fullbringer responding he has no real obligation beyond helping with the transport.

Ichigo stops Ganju, telling Yukio and Riruka to stay behind. The Dollhouse Fullbringer saying she doesn’t take orders from him. But Ichigo responds that she’s done enough to help them and that he appreciates that. Riruka is flustered at this, accepting his request.

Ganju comments that Ichigo might’ve matured a bit, though he also thinks that the hybrid may have always been that kind of person.

Meanwhile, Seireitei is being broken apart by Juhabach, who’s shattered the Wandenreich palace and is seemingly taking it up into Soul Palace.

Kisuke’s group is finalizing the gate as Ichigo’s group prepares to enter. The entrance is stabilized and both parties enter Soul Palace simultaneously.

The chapter concludes as we see that the landscape has drastically changed, modeled after the Wandenreich’s palace. Yoruichi thinks Juhabach has changed things on purpose after becoming the Soul King.

Toriko 324

Everyone’s worried Kaka was killed, Zebra thinking it might’ve been connected to Joa.

But Kuribou, member of the 0th Biotope, appears and assures them Food Spirits cannot die twice. He’s going to serve as a guide for everyone in exchange for not being able to fight 2 years ago.

Chinchin confirms that Kuribou was a spy in NEO. He gives them the time frame before the Gourmet Solar Eclipse, which is 1 month. In that time, they have to acquire the rest of Acacia’s Full Course.

Toriko wonders if the earth will really be eaten, Kuribou saying it’s likely, with more seismic activity and NEO building a space ship to escape.

It turns out Acacia only gave GOD to the wealthiest people in the world to control them with their capital and general ability to shape events. But now NEO has them under their influence, the possibility of Acacia being the true final villain a possibility.

The group wonders if Acacia’s Gourmet Cell Demon will eat the earth or if the planet will just collapse after the Gourmet Solar Eclipse.

The goal, therefore, is to prevent the revival of that Appetite Devil. But since it’d be impossible to acquire all of the remaining ingredients of Acacia’s Full Course one at a time, the group decides to split up.

Komatsu recalls that the next ingredient is in the World of Food Spirits, PAIR enabling them to travel to it by way of the Back Channel.

Komatsu volunteers to go and acquire ANOTHER, while the others go elsewhere. But they’re warned by the ancestors of the Gourmet World societies that the Back Channel is crawling with Food Spirits, some of them even trying to revive themselves without hosts. But the chef says he’s already died once and he wants to repay everyone for saving him.

The spirits say Komatsu is the only one qualified, since you need exceptional skill at cooking Spirit Food, rather than strength.

Coco wonders how they’ll get the others without Komatsu’s aid, one of the Food Spirits saying that there’s a civilization on Area 6, where they can find the third Taste Hermit, Jiji, who knows how to prepare the remaining ingredients on Acacia’s Full Course, recording it in a notebook that Komatsu seems to remember.

The group plans out their agenda: getting the ingredients to Human World, utilizing all the Capture monsters they can, including a new one, Turtloon, which is a giant turtle with a parachute coming out of its back, as well as heading to Area 6 to give Midora PAIR.

The Food Spirits from the past civilization thank everyone for allowing them to taste PAIR again and spend time with monkeys as they did in the past, since the Blue Nitro caused chaos before, making the monkeys think Kaka betrayed them.

The chapter ends as everyone bids Toriko’s group farewell, everyone splitting off as we start the next arc, ANOTHER.

Fairy Tail 435-436

Avatar’s army is in shock at the defeat of Ikusatsunagi by Natsu in one powerful blow. The grunts start to flee, Abel and D-6 try to encourage them, but Gajeel and Pantherlily come in and start to arrest everyone, confiscating their magic as well.

Everyone mingles, amazed at seeing each other after such a long time. Natsu even wonders if Gajeel is really who he claims to be. The Iron Dragon Slayer notes that Warrod asked him to join the Magic Council.

He starts making up excuses to arrest everyone, but notes Gray doesn’t need any pretense, since he helped Avatar.

Erza hits Gajeel, believing him to be his twin brother like Natsu did. Pantherlily confirms he is actually Gajeel, surprising the both of them.

The group agrees that Gray isn’t really in any trouble, since he left a message to Gajeel and the others about where Operation Purification (called the Ultimate Elimination officially by Mashima).

Natsu rouses everyone to make a victory cry as we see Sting and Rogue, along with Lector, who came because they were worried.

Frosch managed to slip down to where the others were, Gray noticing him. Natsu’s worried for a minute, but Gray nuzzles Frosch, saying how cute he looks, Juvia thinking he’s another rival. The chapter ends as the group comes together after so long, the threat to Frosch seemingly gone for now.

The next chapter flashes back to 400 years in the past, explaining Zeref’s past. He started researching life and death, but was told by his teachers to stop looking into it.

Zeref wakes up, continuing the flashback as he explains his motivation. After the death of his younger brother, he started feverishly searching for a way to bring people back to life. He’d even started a theory for an R (Revive) System by utilizing 2.7 Billion Ideas (a measurement of magic)

One of Zeref’s mentors reminds him of how risky and taboo this subject is, Zeref insisting that since there is a human element to creating life, he might be able to find one in relation to death as well. The professor leaves, noting how Ancselam, a god of life and death, will punish him for this.

We flash forward, Zeref continuing his pursuit, now working on Eclipse. His professor tells him they’ve decided to expel him. Zeref is suddenly taken over by some black aura, initiating the death magic we’ve seen from him.

After killing everyone in the academy, he began to realize that Ancselam may have indeed cursed him. Immortal and yet killing everyone the more he regarded life as precious, he became a mass of contradictions. He researched creating the demons that could potentially kill him, but even they failed.

But we finally figure out Natsu’s background, created as an attempt at both a demon that could kill the undying mage and a way to resurrect his brother, having kept his corpse all these years.

Zeref stops himself from explaining further, having to go meet with someone.

We see the person Zeref is rendezvousing with, Acnologia, in a human form, recovering after his fight with Igneel.

The two exchange words, noting how powerful Acnologia is, yet he doesn’t destroy humanity as he desires, Zeref also mixed in his motives.

The chapter ends as Zeref concludes that he cannot side with either humans or dragons, but eliminate all of them, saying that he, Natsu and Acnologia will fight in the future.
