Toriko’s on break this week, hopefully we’ll have at least one Magi chapter. And Black Clover has been picked up by WSJ official, so I’d highly recommend it. I may start covering it, though that would admittedly just add more material to my Monday work on this, but it looks promising as a new series, like Boku no Hero.

Boku no Hero Academia 37

Ochako is taken to Recovery Girl while Bakugou leaves. He meets up with Deku, accusing him of giving Uraraka the strategy, but Deku says she thought it up on her own.

Other members of Class A tease Bakugou as he sits down, the delinquent noting that Ochako is surprisingly tough.

We see the Zero G Quirk user recovering as Deku meets her, concerned about his friend. Ochako says that she’s determined to do better next time, inspired by Deku’s resolve.

Kirishima wins the arm wrestling match and progresses to the next round as the quarterfinals begin.

Deku leaves as Ochako calls her dad, beating herself up for losing. Her dad tries to encourage her, but she still thinks she has to work hard for their sake as well. Ochako cries as her father says that he believes she’ll become great one day.

As Deku moves through the hallway, he bumps into Endeavor. The 2nd best Hero comments on how strong Deku’s Quirk is, telling him to give it his all against Todoroki, since he’s meant to beat All Might.

Endeavor leaves, but Deku stops him by saying he’s not All Might and Todoroki isn’t Endeavor, that they’re their own individuals and shouldn’t be seen purely as reflections of their mentors.

The chapter ends as the match begins, both Todoroki and Deku top contenders overall, but only one can make it to the next round.

Seven Deadly Sins 121

Galan comments that he hates magic users like Merlin more than anything with their spells. As he attacks, Slader appears to protect Merlin, using his Overpower, but Galan reverses it on him and knocks him away, Slader noting his presence is like a mountain.

Merlin tries to negotiate with Galan, saying that if he tells her the Ten Commandments’ goal, she’ll share all the info she has.

But Meliodas notices Galan has done something, the Commandment saying that Merlin has told a lie. The Sin of Gluttony turns to stone, Galan saying that his title is the Truth and that anyone who deceives him verbally will be petrified.

Galan moves to smash her, Meliodas utilizing his demon power, Hawk noting that his Power Level increased to 4400.

Arthur tells his men to help Meliodas, but the Commandment slices them to pieces, even taking off Meliodas’ arm.

The Sin of Wrath thinks that he has no choice, unleashing his demonic power we saw at the Byzel Fighting Festival.

He strikes Galan, who laughs it off. Hawk sees that Meliodas’ Power level is now 10,300, the half demon striking Galan, the force sending shockwaves around the battlefield

Meliodas struggles to control his power, unleashing an even greater attack on Galan in the form of a pillar of darkness.

Galan comments on the power Meliodas is using, but also says he’s become so weak, stabbing him with the spear.

The Commandment refers to Meliodas as a traitorous knight, saying the others should curse their weakness when they die, stabbing everyone and shattering Merlin’s statue.

Galan finds he cannot attack Arthur, Elizabeth or Hawk in his weakened state, because the Perfect Cube still reflects even his attacks.

He tells them that they should be thankful, since few people live to see him in battle without dying.

The Demon leaves, the group in despair, which only becomes worse as we see Gowther’s unleashed form, laughing maniacally, as the chapter ends.

Magi 261

Hakuryuu asks Aladdin for them to end this, even if they just have to bludgeon each other to submission. But the Magi responds that they should stop.

The two confirm that their respective partners are essentially lost forever, barring Judar somehow using his transfer magic or Aladdin understanding the magic Belial used.

Aladdin asks if Hakuryuu will be okay losing his legs, the King Vessel using Zagan to give himself two wooden prosthetics. He responds that he would be fine losing a limb or two, but losing his Magi is different.

Aladdin continues to apologize, Hakuryuu saying they didn’t have to fight if they hadn’t met. But the Magi responds that he thinks Hakuryuu isn’t being honest with himself and didn’t really want to fight his family.

Hakuryuu says he did, Aladdin asking what purpose it would serve. The two stare at each other, the first to respond being Hakuryuu. He says that even if no one understood his reason, he still had to fight for it. Hakuryuu also notes Judar wanted to settle things with Aladdin.

Judar, according to Hakuryuu, saw Aladdin as a reflection of him as a fellow Magi.

Aladdin asks what Hakuryuu will do from now on. The King Vessel responds that he’s lost half his power with Judar gone, asking Aladdin to join him.

The Magi refuses, Hakuryuu saying he expected as much. He thinks he’ll have to go back to his original plan, which shocks Aladdin.

A mysterious person appears, Hakuryuu thinking they were waiting for this moment. But the chapter ends as the figure says that their master would do anything to help Hakuryuu

World Trigger 98

Tamakoma’s group continues to interact with Hyuse, Konami thinking he’s saying something too obvious and not cool enough, while Rindo notes that they chose not to torture him, since they think they could do an exchange later on.

Konami wonders if he’s even worth anything, since they abandoned him, but Karasuma responds that Jin noted Hyuse is considered an elite back in Aftokrator; though it turns out it was a lie, Karasuma just wanting to lighten the mood, but nonetheless thinking Jin may have considered Hyuse impressive.

Back in the match, Kumagai’s on the defensive against both Kou and Yuma’s attacks. Akane wants to help, but she’s more vulnerable as a Sniper, so she has to make her shot count to assist Kumagai

Kumagai thinks that Kou will be the one to make a slip up or otherwise allow Akane to attack.

The pair attack Yuma from either side, the Neighbor dodging, but his right arm damaged from Kou’s attack.

Akane makes a shot, but Yuma uses Grasshopper to avoid it, rushing to her position.

Kumagai tells her to Bail Out, but she persists. There’s an allowance for Bailing Out voluntarily, but you have to be 60m or more away from enemy agents, so Akane is going headfirst to fight him.

Akane fires strategic shots to activate traps nearby, creating a smokescreen so Yuma can’t predict her shots.

But Yuma used the smokescreen to his advantage, tossing his arm as a distraction, attacking Akane from behind and making her Bail Out after damaging her Trion center. The chapter ends as we see the first defeat in this match.

One Piece 783

Everyone’s worried about Luffy and Law as they see the mass of flames from the top of the Royal Plateau.

Thankfully, Luffy has gotten Law, giving him to the others for healing.

But Doflamingo targets Law with Bullet String, Luffy only managing to block a few. But Cavendish, waking up from his sleep, protects Robin from the others, Luffy telling the White Knight to get everyone out of there.

Cavendish wants to fight Doflamingo, but Luffy insists that he trusts Cavendish with everyone else, which he takes as a request from a fan (because he has a huge ego).

The others are assessing Law’s injuries, Leo and Mansherry thinking they can heal him by combining their abilities.

Zoro asks Bartolomeo, who’s below them, to make a staircase with his Devil Fruit powers.

Doflamingo tells Luffy that Law is still alive and should be put out of his misery instead of left suffering. Luffy says he’ll let him, but only if he kills the Rubber Man.

Both fighters are beaten up, but Doflamingo still seems to have an advantage in mobility, pushing Luffy back with his String String powers. He comments on how Luffy suddenly appeared, throwing things into chaos after defeating Crocodile and then getting involved to save Ace. He knocks Luffy back, but Luffy stretches his arms to pull himself back.

Law asks Cavendish to leave him here. Even if he can’t help Luffy, he wants to see Doflamingo defeated. Cavendish agrees, but says he’ll stay with Law to protect him.

As Luffy attacks Doflamingo, he still can’t land a solid hit, Doflamingo taunting him with the eventual death of everyone in the city as the time limit looms closer to Bird Cage closing on Dressrosa.

Doflamingo even says that if they hadn’t been here, Dressrosa would’ve been peaceful. But Luffy says that it was all a lie. He can’t take this sitting down: hurting people, enraging his friends, and persisting in this evil. Luffy prepares to use Gear Fourth as the chapter ends.

One Piece is on break for at least 2 weeks, which is somewhat disappointing. But I imagine Oda is trying to keep himself from suffering any ill effects from his tonsil surgery last year, or has other reasons for taking these occasional breaks.

Bleach 623

Aizen begins to try to take down the Royal Palace, but finds it’s not possible, since, as Aizen previously noted, the seals restrain his reiatsu, even if they can’t outright eliminate it. Shunsui says it’s some of the greatest technology in Seireitei, referring to Mayuri.

Mayuri comments that as long as a Soul Reaper’s heart is still beating, their reiatsu will flow. Anyone in Muken is seemingly unkillable, so Mayuri focused on trying to eliminate the reiatsu, but instead had to settle with limiting it.

Aizen apparently thought he could override even Mayuri’s technology, but Mayuri says that he was naĂŻve to even consider that against his genius.

Mayuri notes that he doesn’t know or care if Aizen can do what he claims to the Soul Palace, but he won’t let him just do that and break free of his restraints he’s so proud of.

Aizen moves to attack, but is stopped by Nanana Najahkoop, who reveals his ability is the Underbelly. He can find the holes in one’s reiatsu composition and then attack it, rendering the person unconscious, or in Aizen’s case, at least immobile.

The Quincy says that they have a problem with Aizen’s plan, telling him to wait there.

Kyouraku asks about the status of the gate, Nanao saying the reiatsu is dispersed, so they’ll have to start over. The Captain Commander tells Kisuke to take everyone in and build up the gate again, while he takes on the Quincies.

Kyouraku says they’re in agreement that they don’t want the Royal Palace to be shot down. But Nanana says that they don’t want that to happen because Juhabach is in it.

As they plan to fight, Nanana bragging about the extent of his power, he’s shot down by Bazz B, who says they want to join up with the Soul Reapers, providing their reiatsu to power the gate.

But in exchange, they want to come with them and kill Juhabach, since they feel betrayed. The chapter ends on this revelation, Shunsui accepting it with some concern.

Fairy Tail 427

Natsu and Happy start to rush at Avatar’s church, but Lucy stops them, saying they should gather information beforehand, since they don’t know the enemy and are focused on finding Gray first.

She summons Virgo, who was bored without Lucy, so she was punishing herself. Lucy uses her new ability, temporarily acquiring Virgo’s power to burrow underground.

The group gets into the basement, Lucy apparently not caring that Natsu and Happy can see her panties, since they’re under her as she comes out of the hole.

Natsu decides to just shout at the top of his lungs, asking if Gray’s here. Most of the people notice, particularly the bizarre clown character, who appears as Natsu notes that the place smells like Gray.

It turns out Abel has the same doll as Hikaru from Grimoire Heart does, but before he can even use it, Natsu one shots him with a blast of flame to the head.

Goumon, the torture mage, appears, throwing all his tools at Natsu, who dodges them, while Virgo looks on in astonishment at all the punishment mechanisms.

The triangular horse is thrown at Natsu, actually a distraction for an iron maiden attack from behind. But even after Natsu is captured, he melts his way out and smashes Goumon’s face in, even beating another attacker, D-6, who tries to strike from behind, with a single kick to the head.

Gray comments that Natsu is too strong for all them, the two staring each other down as the chapter ends.
