So apparently, next week is Obon, so I’m mostly catching up on last week’s stuff, this week is a freebie: had internet out for a week, so I’m having to do a mad dash on lots of things, but this is something I’m really focused on. Next week we'll be out a few series: probably Seven Deadly Sins, Fairy Tail and definitely World Trigger.

Seven Deadly Sins 88-89

A knight that was connected to Helbram’s Link power wakes up to see the kingdom in ruins, commenting on how it looks hellish. Meanwhile, Diane is still trying to stop Jericho, who’s stuck in a trance, remembering her rivalry with her brother.

Ban is still wondering if it’s really okay with Meliodas to kill him. Meliodas still insists he should do it, since he’d do it if he were in Ban’s shoes. Ban stabs down, but Meliodas suddenly strikes back with a headbutt. Ban is furious, Meliodas qualifying that he wouldn’t let himself be killed, but if he dies, so be it. He has to keep the promise he made with Elizabeth, so he won’t just lay down and die. They both have things precious to them, so they have to fight for them.

Hawk tries to stop Ban, saying that the Goddess Clan might be lying, but Ban says if this is the only way, he has to try. Hawk responds that if he’s right, then Elaine comes back, but if he’s wrong, he loses his best friend. Ban asks what he should do, saying that even with all his friends, living without Elaine is like hell.

Meliodas says he understands, concluding they have to focus on protecting the kingdom now, and that they’ll settle this later. Seeing as it’s an order from his captain, Ban complies.

Griamor tries to save Elizabeth, Hendricksen attacking him from behind. He manages to protect himself with Wall. Hendricksen taunts him, saying he can’t beat him. But Griamor says he must, the chapter ending as he teams up with his father to attack Hendricksen.

As the next chapter begins, Meliodas tells Hawk to take him to where Elizabeth is, Merlin’s castle/lab to the west. Ban leaves things to Hawk, taking Gil from Margaret and Vivian, throwing him into a demon and revealing the magic spell orbs he stole from Helbram at the Byzel Fighting Tournament. He uses a super healing incantation spell orb, recovering both Diane and Gil.

Meanwhile, King is still fighting Helbram, revived for the second time by Hendricksen, and is unable to bring himself to kill his best friend. Ban knocks Helbram back, King enraged at first. But Ban says Meliodas ordered them to perform their duty as the Seven Deadly Sins, so King complies as Helbram manages to retain some of his personality, saying it’s fine for King to kill him.

What turns out to be Jericho’s brother from the beginning of last chapter is looking for survivors, particularly his sister, Jericho recognizing his voice. He’s shocked to see his sister as a monstrous demon, Jericho thinking he might finally recognize her. But her demon body grabs him, starting to crush his body. Jericho starts to think it’d be better if someone killed her.

Meanwhile, Griamor and Dreyfus are still fighting Hendricksen, who manages to take advantage of Dreyfus’ weakened state and unleashes a wave of his Acid power on Dreyfus. Griamor protects himself, but thinks his father is doomed. But Dreyfus reveals by sheer force of will, he can resist Hendricksen’s Acid power’s effect. He also managed to take a chunk out of Hendricksen’s body, but it quickly recovers.

Dreyfus wonders what’s happened to his friend, Hendricksen responding that he’s become a superior being to humans. He starts to attack, but Griamor seals him in a Barrier, Dreyfus unleashing his strongest attack to break through it and defeat Hendricksen as repentance for his ignorance. But as he attacks, the effects from the acid make the ground under Dreyfus’ feet break and his attack misses.

We see Meliodas and Hawk moving to Elizabeth’s location and the chapter ends as we see Elizabeth was fatally wounded by Dreyfus’ attack.

Magi 234

We see Sheba preparing everyone for a ceremony to unite the world under Solomon, but Arba doesn’t agree. She thinks they should listen to the other magicians, but Sheba’s concerned Solomon will die soon, since most of his life has been expended with dividing the Rukh. Sheba insists on her position with frightening fervor, making Arba think she’s become vastly different than before.

Sheba speaks to Solomon, saying that the others will understand why she had to be so harsh. She creates 72 metal vessels, with special formulae in them, activated with magoi and passed down to the various species’ chiefs. The species all build their own cities and things seem to be progressing well. But Sheba notices that everyone’s Rukh is becoming black again.

Arba’s group had been researching the black Rukh and creating beings from it, eventually revolting near the day of Solomon’s death.  With the power of the black Rukh, they gained newfound power, following the ideals of the eight pointed star instead of Solomon’s notion of utopia, calling their group Al Thamen, literally in Japanese “Eight Pointed Star Fellowship”.

Arba and Sheba clash, Arba eventually using the full power of the Black Rukh and defeating Sheba. She says how much she pities Sheba, manipulated by Solomon, who Arba sees as a great sinner now for trying to become like a god himself.  Her group moves to conquer elsewhere, Ugo finding her near death, astonished that Arba, a fellow Magi, betrayed them.

Sheba’s Rukh appears, telling Ugo that the child she and Solomon made is still alive, passing on as the chapter ends on her regretting that she wasn’t able to protect everyone, especially the child she’ll never see.

World Trigger 70-71

The enemy Rabit attacks Replica’s Black Rabit, but the Black Rabit is quicker and stronger, smashing part of the enemy Rabit’s face off and blocking their counterattack with a Shield. Replica tells Osamu to run after it analyzes the magnetic Trigger shards, saying Yuma will be fine, since Yuma prioritized Replica to rescue Osamu and Chika. Since Jin said that the successful future depends on Osamu and Chika getting to the base, Replica will eventually aid Osamu if the door isn’t opened by the time he gets there.

Meanwhile, Enedora is starting to understand the training room’s function and features. The Border team in the room thinks they’ve found his weak point, but he creates decoys and starts to gain the advantage. The analysis reveals he can turn into liquid and gaseous forms, slowly escaping from the room, eventually just breaking out by force.

The others wonder where Shinoda is, one of them noting it could take time. But Kido says Shinoda would take a shortcut. We see Shinoda outside the building, breaking in with his Trigger.  He attacks Enedora, who thinks there’s no way his Normal Trigger could beat his Black one. But Shinoda says they’ve been training to fight someone of his caliber for all these years. The chapter ends on the specification that it’s 16 minutes until the turning point of Jin’s prediction.

We start the next chapter (because WSJ is legit, since next week will be a break for the actual magazine unlike with most scans) with Shinoda noting the analysis of the Black Trigger Enedora uses. It can change Trion into gas or liquid, hardening it to protect the weak points. The major attacks to watch out for are from cracks and from gas that strikes from inside the body. They turn on the AC to blow away the gas, Shinoda asking for the locations of the weak points, including the dummies. He says he’ll hit them all.

Shinoda keeps attacking, Enedora unable to create dummies fast enough and it looks like Enedora’s weak points are struck. Shinoda says that the only advantage Enedora has is surprise, but once they’ve observed him enough, he’s weak. But Enedora is still alive, having pulled the Trion points away at the last minute. He damages Shinoda’s relay center, making him unable to move.

But Shinoda says Enedora’s lost already, Suwa’s squad using tactics that take advantage of Shinoda having struck the weak points, marking them. One of the agents tries to hit the weak point within the dummy formation, Enedora beating them. But two more attack from behind, the one from before a distraction with a smokescreen as they Bailed Out, Enedora defeated as they strike his two weak points

The chapter ends as the Border agents celebrate this victory and the female Neighbor speaks as if Enedora is still alive in a sense, even though he should technically be dead, since his Trigger was embedded in his body.

One Piece 756

Usopp is amazed at Viola’s power, Viola searching for Mansherry in the palace. Kinemon and Kanjurou appear, Kanjurou inadvertently making a path for the people potentially after Usopp to follow.

Violet finds Mansherry, contacting Leo, who remembers the location as related to Rebecca’s mother. Viola and the Tontatta got into trouble in the past, but Scarlett always came to comfort them. The goal is to save Mansherry in spite of the danger that the palace holds now with Doflamingo’s crew.

The group is close to Level 3, but Gladius attacks them from below, knocking Bartolomeo down. Robin holds him off, telling Rebecca and Leo to go ahead.

Viola sees that Sugar has regained consciousness, which makes Usopp panic. Meanwhile, Sugar is still somewhat traumatized and we see that the giant dolls from before are likely Sugar’s doing as she plans to turn everyone in the kingdom into toys to make up for her failure.

Luffy’s group is facing the giant nutcrackers, both Luffy and Cavendish attacking the toys, but seemingly having no effect as they quickly recover. Bartolomeo and Robin fall from the sky, offering to hold off Gladius as Luffy’s group heads to where Rebecca is to get the key.

Rebecca, Leo and Kabu arrive at the palace and Rebecca is left alone. The chapter ends as she encounters Diamante, eager to fight Rebecca and remind her of the pain he caused her by killing her mother.

Naruto 688

We start with Obito telling Rin he has to go back to help Kakashi, since he doesn’t want his friend butting in on his private time with Rin. Using his latent power, he goes back to Kakashi in the physical world. His spirit goes into Kakashi, talking to his friend in his mental world. He says that he wants Naruto to become the7th Hokage after Kakashi, giving him a present to follow up on the eye he gave him when Kakashi became a jounin. This time, it seems he’s given Kakashi the power of Sharingan in both his eye, if only temporarily.

Naruto and Sasuke are pushing Kaguya, Naruto utilizing 9 Rasenshuriken, each with the power of one of the Bijuu embedded in them.  But just before they make contact, Kaguya seems to activate some ability.

As she falls back from the attack, she starts to warp form, changing into something like the Ten Tails. But Black Zetsu notes she can’t fully control it, since the Bijuu aren’t subject to her anymore. A hand stretches out from Kaguya, vaporizing a clone that pushes Naruto and Sasuke out of the way. More start coming, Sasuke moving to protect Sakura.

But it’s actually Kakashi, who has a seeming master Sharingan level of power, utilizing Susanoo to save Sakura as the chapter ends on his resolve to protect Sasuke and Naruto.

Toriko 288

Komatsu’s group is amazed at seeing AIR before them. Brunch, meanwhile, is also heading towards where AIR is, noticing Sani and Nosh, Sani’s new Hair Fool technique allowing him to enhance his speed by pulling on Remote Hairs up ahead. Coco and Dinner are also making good progress by using Poison Doll and Poison Life to create Careru with all his speed.

Back with Komatsu’s group, he explains that the AIR fruit isn’t quite ripe yet. He says it’ll only have about 70% of its taste if they prepare it now, ideally wanting to wait until it hits the ground. The group wonders if that’s possible, especially Mappy, since Toriko’s still fighting the Horse King Heracles.

Brunch thinks that the sheer pressure of the air in the area is slowing down even AIR’s ripening, so he decides to use the knife Melk the First made to cut the atmosphere around AIR to speed up its status. The group offers the ingredients they found on the way to Slow Rain Hill to give AIR more nutrients, working together to support Komatsu, who’ll prepare AIR.

Toriko’s fight with Heracles is getting interesting as Blue notices that the Horse King is pregnant, explaining its odd motions and behavior. To protect its child, the Horse King creates a vacuum in the area by sucking away the air with a slight inhale.

Even Blue has to retreat into Toriko, the chapter ending as the fight seems over, since there are few entities that could fight while not being able to breathe.

Bleach 592

The other Soul Reapers are shocked to see Toushirou is a zombie now. Yumichika starts to use kidou, but Ikkaku knocks him out, since he knows this is something you have to end with brute force. Toushirou attacks with a huge burst of ice.

Yumichika is unscathed, but we see that Ikkaku has a leg frozen. Toushirou stabs him, starting to slash at the Soul Reaper while he’s down. Yumichika stops him, unleashing his Zanpakutou, but is stopped by Toushirou, who continues to overwhelm him.

Mayuri observes how closely the dead body matches the living equivalent, Toushirou attacking him. The scientist notes that Toushirou’s much faster than Bambietta, even though she was killed and turned. Giselle explains he was turned right before he died, so he’s actually stronger and can be controlled.

But Mayuri thinks that’s absurd, thinking it’s better to control someone who has a will of their own, Giselle not agreeing for once.

Charlotte moves to attack Toushirou, but Mayuri tells him it’s too dangerous a bit late, Charlotte near death. Mayuri says he’ll leave the Arrancar like that as punishment.

The 12th Divison captain says that he won’t let Toushirou continue to damage his test subjects, taunting the zombie who he knows can’t hear him, saying he’ll be a great guinea pig before he dies as the chapter ends on Mayuri saying it’s okay, since it’ll be to protect Seireitei in a sarcastic tone.

Fairy Tail 396

Natsu and Gajeel are still bickering, Lucy trying to stop them and Juvia sleep talking about love rivals.

Torafusa decides to unleash his power, Tenchi Kaimei, starting to fill up the guild with shadowy water. Tempesta waits, since his power is seemingly ineffective, like Natsu’s, underwater, Gajeel telling Natsu to get Lucy and Juvia and find a way out. But everyone is affected by the black water, which Torafusa explains is fatal within 5 minutes, Gajeel sealing his mouth and moving to attack. The scaled demon is too fast, Gajeel having to resort to his shadow power acquired from Rogue.

It looks like Gajeel gets a solid hit on Torafusa, but the demon continues to show his sheer advantage and power in his natural environment, pummeling Gajeel even harder. Gajeel runs out of breath, seemingly defeated, desperate for air as the only means for him to keep fighting.

Suddenly, Levy appears, giving Gajeel mouth to mouth and providing air for him (not subtly hinting at the potential romance that Mashima’s hinted at for a bit since Gajeel and Levy paired up in the S-Rank Tournament). Gajeel recovers, Torafusa going to attack Levy.

The chapter ends as Gajeel gets a solid strike on Torafusa from behind, grabbing Levy to protect her.
