Shounen Jump was on break last week
and Weekly Shounen Magazine was on break the previous week, so here’s a
combined post of both weeks
Golem
Hearts 7
Egmont explains that the item the
arcanist students will be trying to acquire is the Golem’s Tear, an item
crafted out of diamond and a national treasure of Chernozem. But he also
qualifies that only the student who acquires it will pass
As everyone else is complaining,
Noah has already gone to the door, knocking on it and asking Sodom to return
it, claiming that it’ll be better than fighting him.
Everyone else is utilizing Golem
Arts to prepare their golems for combat, but Noah readies an attack to punch
the door, breaking it to the shock of one of the students who planned to shrink
his golem and get in the keyhole to open it
Carles and Erebus are staying back,
suspicious that there’s no security there, Erebus even saying that Nyx, his
golem, can see into the building and that there’s no one there.
Egmont says this is odd, thinking
that the arcanists who discovered the hideout may have been captured, his
assistant Lotte saying that they should warn them. But Egmont responds that
they expect people to be able to adjust to the situation.
Carles rushes to the hideout,
telling Noah to get out as he’s standing on a balcony, claiming that there’s no
danger, just a golem in a room. But as Carles moves his golem to pull Noah out,
the golem in the hideout uses a golem skill, Porcupine, stabbing out needles in
all directions, fatally wounding most of the participants
Noah is unscathed, but Carles has
taken some damage as well, thinking this pays Noah back for saving him before
the exam started from the other golem user.
But Noah insists that they’re
friends and that he doesn’t have any debt to pay him, Carles confused.
The Sodom arcanist is disappointed
he didn’t kill everyone, moving to kill Noah and finish the group off.
Noah readies himself to fight, but
we see someone else attack Egmont’s group, Erebus’ golem managing to stop the
attack.
The Sodom arcanist that appears
looks the same as the one fighting Noah. He brags that he’ll tell them where
the Golem’s Tear is if Erebus can destroy his golem.
Erebus is confident, calling his
golem junk, which angers the arcanist, claiming that he’s killed nearly 100
arcanists and almost as many golems. This only irritates Erebus further,
utilizing Golem Art level 5, Berserker, to attack the enemy arcanist
The chapter ends as Noah uses
Hammerman on himself, Carles shocked that he could do such a thing, ready to
fight as well.
Dr. Stone 40
The village is still baffled at the
turn of events, Senkuu seemingly married to Ruri in a quick ceremony. But
Kokuyo opposes this, saying an outsider shouldn’t be chief of the village, some
of the villagers wanting to support him, but others saying that Senkuu won fair
and square.
Senkuu demands booze, one of the
villagers bringing out some jars that have become vinegar, which are also
something he needs, not wanting them thrown out. Senkuu’s told that the wedding
ceremony will involve lots of drinking, but as Ruri coughs up blood, he says he’ll
divorce Ruri, taking the jars of alcohol and vinegar, time short to help her
Ruri mourns her divorce, though she
says this to Chrome in particular, suggesting she may indeed wish to marry him
in the future.
As Kokuyou demands that Senkuu is captured,
Kinrou steps in, saying that he has seen Senkuu’s deeds and that he isn’t a bad
person, risking his life for the sake of others.
With Kaseki’s help, Senkuu make a
watermill out of bamboo, spinning around for some unknown purpose. Senkuu tells
them they’ll wait until tomorrow when things start to get interesting.
Gen is about to leave, but Kaseki
asks that he stay with him to watch the waterwheel so it isn’t damaged,
threatened by the old man’s muscles to agree in spite of his opposition
Senkuu explains that they should be
done with the sulfonamide by tomorrow. He asks Chrome, who he brought back and
woke up with smelling salts, to find some coal, but Chrome sees that there’s
nothing left, having used it for the iron furnace before
But thankfully, they just need the
dregs, getting some from the furnace. Senkuu starts the process, which will
involve around 25 steps to conclude as the sulfonamide itself, Chrome amazed at
how much work this entails in just one night.
They gather some sea sponges to make
a filter, the work continuing as we shift back to Gen and the waterwheel
He looks in it and finds that it’s
generating carbon dioxide, which he deduces is connected to the cola that Senkuu
promised him.
But as Gen returns, he sees that the
lab suffered a slight explosion, Senkuu and Chrome still recovering. Senkuu
explains that they were mixing various chemicals and added a bit too much at
one step. He also notes that they’ve progressed to a stage where they have
something akin to hydrochloric acid (far more advanced that sulfuric acid)
After making baking soda by mixing
the carbonic acid with sodium hydroxide, they pour that over the creation and
create the sulfa-drug. After a half year of work, they finally have reached
their goal to help Ruri, Kohaku tearing up at the hope she has now.
Gen stays behind, not wanting to go
to the village, but he finds that Senkuu, by combining some other primitive
methods, even making caramel from burning honey, along with lime and coriander,
combined with carbonated water (possibly derived from the waterwheel as well?)
to make him the bottle of soda, which he quickly guzzles down.
The chapter ends as Ruri is about to
be given the sulfonamide, the story taking a new turn after this moment.
We
Can’t Study 43
Uruka takes Yuiga to their old
middle school, saying she can come here because she’s an advisor of sorts for
their swimming club. Yuiga thinks it’s not exactly appropriate for them to
enter when it’s so late and during summer vacation
But Uruka ignores this, saying that
she remembers that they used to sit next to each other, Yuiga saying it was
only for one semester. When they first met, Uruka thought he was just a gloomy
guy, but she catches herself before she says more about her unrequited
feelings, instead saying she’s surprised they stayed in touch like this
They reminisce some more, passing by
a place where Uruka remembers first hearing about how Yuiga admired her back in
middle school for being so devoted to swimming. After that, she started to
realize her growing feelings for him, even practicing in front of the mirror to
greet him.
Her friends, realizing that she
changed her high school choice to Ichinose because of her crush on Yuiga, say
that they’ll try as well
As Yuiga and Uruka are about to turn
a corner, someone comes up, the two narrowly avoiding him. It’s Gotou, a
teacher from their middle school days, who’s gotten heavier after getting married.
Uruka has permission, but she’s still worried about Gotou getting mad at her.
The two sit at the pool, Uruka
saying she wanted to come here because it was where Yuiga and she first talked,
Yuiga motivating her to keep at swimming when she was about to give up
But Yuiga confesses that that day
also helped him, since it was close to when his father died. He was dedicated
to studying, but he was also discouraged by his grades not improving. When he
saw how Uruka was succeeding at swimming, he was motivated to keep at it.
Uruka grabs his hand, sad that she
brought up something so painful for him. Yuiga quickly tries to change the
subject asking if she’s confessed to her crush yet. Uruka is flustered at this
subject, saying things have made it difficult for her to bring it up
Yuiga then volunteers to be her
practice partner, Uruka shocked at this, since he doesn’t know her crush is
actually him. She decides to ask him to call her by her first name to make
things more realistic
He does so, to her shock and she’s a
bit frustrated that he can say it so easily. But then Uruka blurts out that she
loves him, Yuiga saying they should do it over, since he’s not her crush (or so
he thinks).
Uruka pushes him in the pool, Yuiga
calling her by her surname again. She asks him to keep calling her by her first
name, which Yuiga says is awkward. But she pushes him, the chapter ending as
she pulls him out of the pool, wondering if she actually made things more
complicated between them
Black Clover 138
Raia is unable to fight back
effectively, the sheer power of Mereoleona’s Mana Zone something that is shown
to enhance not only the strength of the magic, but even reaction speed,
explaining how she was able to move so effectively before.
Asta and Zora are amazed that she’s
taking on a Third Eye by herself, having had so much difficulty themselves
We shift over to Yuno, attacking
people from behind with his magic, Mimosa commenting that it’s like Mana Zone,
that ability connected to Spirit Dive as well
Yuno notices something pulsing
deeper in the hideout.
Back at the Black Bull’s base,
Gauche, Grey and Gordon are all waiting around. Gauche wonders why Grey and
Gordon are being so close to him, telling them that he’ll take on the orders
that come up. But Grey and Gordon insist that they’ll accompany him
Gauche tries to leave, but they stop
him, saying that it’d be too embarrassing to be alone together. Grey tries to
strike up a conversation, Gauche showing off the figure of Marie he’s making.
Gordon shows off his collection,
Grey thinking they’re voodoo dolls. Gauche leaves to go to the bathroom, asking
where it is, since the hideout changes locations of various rooms day by day
But suddenly, zombie like humans
start to attack the hideout, Sally, Rades and Valtos all arriving to start
their invasion
But Gauche uses his Mirror magic,
the others preparing to fight as well with the chapter’s end
Boku no Hero Academia 164
We see Todoroki and Yoarashi
talking, Inasa still trying to be Shoto’s friend, but Shoto insisting they not
force it, since they already have clashing tastes in food and personality
differences
The test begins, Mera explaining that
they’ll be adding an eleventh member to the group of ten that’s been working on
their provisional licenses so far.
All Might doesn’t want to stand out,
denying Present Mic’s claim that they should get closer to see the action, but
Endeavor draws everyone’s attention to them as he does his best to cheer his
son on
We see that Camie is the eleventh
person in question, since even though she technically appeared to progress
properly, she had some blanks in her memory (because of Himiko impersonating
her), so she’ll be participating as well.
Camie’s mannerisms are vastly
different from what we saw when Toga mimicked her, talking much more in modern
slang. She was drugged from what the police found by testing her blood, asleep
for 4 days. But everyone was none the wiser until after the fact, Seiji beating
himself up for not noticing.
Gang Orca takes over, berating the students
for their failure, acting like a drill sergeant by saying they’re worthless and
need more guidance to become proper Heroes.
Bakugou, Todoroki and Yoarashi in
particular are seen as the worst examples, relying on their strength instead of
having a strong sense of heart, understanding the victims they seek to protect
and rescue from danger.
So they’re given a special trial
with what appear to be kindergarteners, raucous and annoying. Bakugou yells at
Gang Orca about how this is supposed to be a major challenge, making one of the
kids cry, while Todoroki, who has some first aid treatment tubes on his suit,
fails to explain to the kids that it’s not a “pee pee”. Yoarashi is getting
punched by the kids, thinking that he won’t be like Endeavor, who treated kids
like him with disdain.
Camie asks why she’s also included,
Gang Orca saying she didn’t go through the test proper, so this will serve as
her test overall. She hugs one of the male students to her chest, some of the
female students attacking her, jealous of her trying to “seduce” him.
The teacher apologizes again, the students
seen as problem children. Gang Orca says that the four of them will try to
reach the hearts of these children, Bakugou reducing it to being their nannies
as the other students go to more lectures.
Present Mic, needing to do something
with the otherwise simple test, decides to offer color commentary as the emcee.
All Might asks Endeavor what he
wanted to talk with him about, the #1 Hero of the present asking the former
Symbol of Peace what that truly means, since the crime rate has gone up since
his retirement, the chapter concluding with this serious conversation.
One Piece 889
Daifuku attacks with his Hoya Hoya
Fruit, the genie he summons slashing through many of the ships to try and get
Carrot.
Jinbe explains that the Sulong form
is an awakening of the Mink’s ancient feral memories. But it can be dangerous without
training, the Mink dying within one day of fighting if they cannot control its
rage.
Brook rushes towards the ship, able
to run along the sea because he’s only bones. The others move to defend their
rear being attacked by more of Big Mom’s fleet
Perospero notes that Big Mom has
been rampaging for 8 hours since her eating disorder was triggered, longer than
any other time in the past. She’s becoming more and more emaciated as time goes
on, calling for Prometheus and Zeus.
But when Bavarois reveals that
Pudding is bringing the cake on Bege’s ship, Perospero thinks the cake must be
sabotaged somehow.
Bege and Sanji are debating this,
Sanji saying they shouldn’t mess with the taste, while Bege says they should
take this opportunity to make it so Big Mom will be killed. He thinks that
Sanji is trying the impossible to satisfy the taste of someone who’s eaten as
many delicacies as Big Mom has, but Sanji is willing to take that challenge
Sanji gives Bege some of the cream
from before, the sweetness overwhelming his senses. He relents on his plan, Sanji
saying he can try to kill her after she eats the cake. The group is getting
closer to finishing the cake and closer to where the Straw Hats are.
We shift over to Zeus and Prometheus
bickering, both of them having delayed getting to Big Mom, but heading her way
as fast as they can
Carrot is running out of stamina
through her attacks, Daifuku still trying to take her out.
Brooke comes to her assistance,
rescuing her from falling into the sea after putting a ship to sleep. She tells
him that she can revert back if she blocks her eyes from seeing the moonlight.
As Carrot is brought back to the
ship, Bavarois tells Perospero that Daifuku has failed in his attempts.
Big Mom has Napoleon change into a
sword, Zeus and Prometheus supporting her and fusing with her body
respectively, her form more menacing than before.
The chapter ends as Big Mom rushes at
the ship, ready to attack as Jinbe tells the others they should be prepared to
abandon ship.
Seven
Deadly Sins 246-247
We return to Meliodas taking
Elizabeth with him, Chandler following behind as Meliodas vows to become the
Demon King and defeat Elizabeth’s curse. His former teacher is still angry as
Elizabeth tries to stop him, but to no avail
Estarossa is having a dream, in a
field alone (similar to a vision Elizabeth had in the past where she met the
Commandment of Charity). But then he sees Elizabeth, asking if he got in a
fight with his older brother (likely Meliodas), which wakes him up from his
state of recovery
He’s greeted by Peronia, a Demon who
appears to be somewhat enthralled by him, even complimenting his healthy body.
She explains he was asleep for about 3-4 days, but is fully healed now. They
both react with shock as Meliodas arrives.
As Meliodas enters the castle,
Zeldris and Cusack comment how he’s quite brazen to walk in here as a known
traitor and bringing Elizabeth along with him as well
Chandler tries to defend himself,
but Meliodas silences him, stating his business is simple: he wants to become
Demon King. Zeldris says he will take that title, but Estarossa comments that
he feels left out
The Commandment of Charity says he
really doesn’t care, but if his brothers are vying for Demon King, then he
wants in as well
Elizabeth and Meliodas both react to
Estarossa’s presence, Meliodas impressed he’s still alive and Elizabeth
thinking she has met him somewhere before. Estarossa comments as much, seeming
to recognize Elizabeth, but Elizabeth insists she hasn’t met him before
Estarossa decides to give up on
pursuing the Demon King’s throne, but in exchange, asks Meliodas to give over
Elizabeth. Meliodas refuses, Zeldris and Estarossa moving to attack him
But as they strike, Meliodas quickly
counters, taking them both to the ground with Hellfire and even striking Cusack
before he can defend Zeldris
Zeldris is stunned, unable to move
even with the Demon King’s power that he’s been granted. Estarossa manages to
struggle slightly but Meliodas pushes him back down
The chapter concludes as he says he
wants to discuss things, but they need to be certain where they stand in terms
of power
The next chapter begins as Elizabeth
convinces Meliodas to release them, so as not to actually kill his brothers
Estarossa apologizes for his
actions, acknowledging that Meliodas is truly as strong as his father claims he
is. He still intends to plot against Meliodas somehow, but Zeldris is more
forthcoming, saying that Meliodas only wants the Demon King’s power to release
both he and Elizabeth from the curse.
Meliodas doesn’t deny it, even
saying he intends to take the portion of the Demon King’s power from Zeldris,
though he also thinks that won’t be able to negate the curse
Zeldris rushes to attack him, Estarossa trying to
take the opportunity and capture Elizabeth, but dodges an attack from Meliodas.
Meanwhile, Zeldris is pinned by Meliodas, who tells
him he knows why he wants to become the Demon King, whispering the reason in
his ear, which makes his brother stop, giving up the fight
He agrees to help Meliodas, though he asks him how
he intends to stop the Demon King, since even the power Zeldris has is nothing
compared to the true Demon King
Meliodas comments that he’s aware of how his father
divided his power into 10 pieces rather than the half he initially had in mind,
which formed the basis of the 10 Commandments.
Once they acquire the power of those Ten
Commandments, Meliodas will have power comparable to the Demon King.
Zeldris reveals he already has the Commandment
energy of Gowther, Gloxinia and Dolor. But he says that they can’t just take
them by force, either requiring the consent of the Commandment or rendering
them powerless by combat. With Gowther, Gloxinia and Dolor they had abandoned
their loyalty, so it was easy, but the others are more faithful
Estarossa asks if they can just kill them, Zeldris
saying that the Commandment power would remain in their corpse. Meliodas
reveals he has Grayroad’s Commandment power, stolen from him after he was
captured by Merlin, though Galan and Merascylla’s whereabouts are still unknown
to him
Zeldris and Estarossa, not being distrusted by the
Demons, are given the task of recovering the rest of the Commandments, Chandler
thinking this is also to keep Elizabeth safe from outside attacks by Meliodas
staying close to her
We shift over to the Boar’s Hat, Elaine worried
about Ban, Diane encouraging her by saying he’ll definitely come back
Merlin realizes Grayroad’s Commandment has been
taken, reacting to a sudden magical presence, Estarossa and Zeldris both
heading their way as the chapter ends
