Golem Hearts 4

Noah and Eir arrive in Kingsbury, the capital of Chernozem (the country where things are set primarily), Eir showing Noah her place. She gives him his first assignment, stacking 10 coins on top of each other by the edges using a basic golem called “Baby”. Instead of the usual month that it would take to practice such a task, she gives him a week, saying that if he fails, she’ll send him home

But Noah isn’t fazed, saying that he thinks she must have trust in his abilities to challenge him this way.

He makes his first attempt, the golem weak looking as it doesn’t even try to stack the coin, instead putting it in its mouth.

Eir comes back, Noah having made a large group of the Baby golems, all similarly weak in appearance. But he’s persisting in his studies, even ignoring his need for food and sleep that make him unique as a golem, which can normally go without such things indefinitely

On the 3rd day, Noah has managed to stack 2 coins.

The 5th day introduces us to a rival of Eir’s, Sol and his disciple Erebus, Sol having achieved the third highest rank among arcanists, Acrab, rated based on the magnitude of constellations

Erebus meets Noah, deciding to try and stack coins as well, doing 50 on his first try, to Eir’s amazement. Even Sol praises him, mentioning his grandfather Methuselah, the number 1 arcanist in the world.

But Erebus tells him not to mention his grandfather’s name again, wanting to advance on his own name.

On the 7th day, Eir is worried Noah couldn’t possibly have achieved the task she set him with, but he tells her he’s done

To her shock, Noah’s stacked 51 coins, surpassing Erebus in the process. Noah collapses, Eir thinking he must’ve been enhancing the things an arcanist needs over the past week: studying books in the library for knowledge, stimulating his imagination by seeing Erebus’ golem and sheer adrenaline increasing his mana.

The chapter ends as she puts him to bed, complimenting him as her student

Dr. Stone 37

Ginrou’s doing well, Argo still able to defend himself. Senkuu comments that with Ginrou getting so excited, this is working to their advantage.

But we see that Ginrou, even though he thinks he’s doing well and impressing everyone, is fairly beaten up and shocking the girls he thought were screaming in awe of his coolness.

Argo tries to fight more, but Ginrou manages to push him off the edge, winning the match. But Ginrou rushes to relieve himself, his stomach messed up from so much caffeine at once, unable to fight for a while until he recovers

Senkuu tells Chrome that the situation is such that Chrome has to be the one to defeat Magma now, since Senkuu and Ginrou, in his weakened state, both have no chance

As long as Chrome can win this match, Senkuu and Ginrou would throw the match for him and he’ll be the next chief and Ruri’s husband.

Chrome seems inspired, striking at Magma, but as Ginrou wakes up, we see that Magma turned the tables, Chrome on the ground heavily injured

Magma continues to beat him up, saying he won’t stop until Ruri begs him to finish the match

Chrome tries to protect Suika’s helmet pieces, turning things around as he brandishes the helmet fragment on his staff, Senkuu realizing he intends to use the clear day and magnify the sun’s rays to set Magma’s clothes on fire

But since the glasses are a concave lens that disperses light, it’d be pretty much impossible to generate heat like that.

Magma taunts Chrome, saying he’ll take out his eyes first, Chrome saying that he’ll use science to win as the chapter ends with light seemingly focused through the lens.

This is probably misdirection, since it’s also possible Chrome could be using the glass as a focus for his vision so he can accurately attack Magma’s groin to weaken and beat him that way

We Can’t Study 40

Yuiga is with Kobayashi and Oomori at the bookstore, getting some reference texts. Oomori wants to get an erotic book, Yuiga hiding it stealthily in between the books he’s buying.

Asumi is there as well, noticing the book, which embarrasses Yuiga, telling her it’s not his. Oomori thinks she’s a grade-schooler, irritating Asumi.

Yuiga and Asumi leave together, Asumi suggesting they take some time before her shift to study. A former classmate of Asumi, Sakuraba, notices her and they talk about what they’re doing during the summer. After Asumi reveals she’s a rounin, Sakuraba tries to change the subject as she asks if Yuiga is Asumi’s boyfriend.

As Asumi’s dad passes by, Asumi shifts her deflection to an admission that he is her boyfriend to maintain the lie. Her father wonders if there’s something he can do to help them not be so awkward.

Yuiga thinks it’s weird that Asumi wasn’t that bothered by seeing Sakuraba be so happy and enjoying her college life

They continue studying, Yuiga immediately checking his answer after solving the problem, which Asumi says might be a bit short sighted, thinking he should review his answer beforehand so he can get the solution down pat.

She advises him about this because when she took her entrance exams for college, she was overcome by her anxiety and vastly underperformed, so she wants Yuiga to be able to do better

Asumi’s father calls her, asking if she has any pictures of them together. When Asumi says she doesn’t, he becomes suspicious, wondering if they’re actually dating.

They send various photos, though he still isn’t buying it yet. Yuiga and Asumi wonder how to look like a couple, deciding to send a photo with them making the shape of a heart with their hands.

They send more, sharing a drink, Asumi sitting on Yuiga’s lap and Yuiga using Asumi’s lap as a pillow, which finally convinces her dad to acknowledge them.

It turns out Asumi was referencing Sakuraba’s social media pictures with her boyfriend to make their poses.

Asumi confides in Yuiga that she was feeling down before seeing her friend having so much fun, but that she’s cheered up a bit from hanging out with him.

She would be lying if she didn’t say she was jealous of her friend, so she thanks Yuiga for helping her by making summer memories of her own.

Asumi then teases Yuiga by making to kiss him, but stopping short and taking a pic, as insurance for her father questioning them in the future for more pictures.

She references the content of the erotic magazine Oomori was getting, since it involved being teased by a senpai, Yuiga still saying that was a misunderstanding as the chapter ends

Black Clover 135

The group arrives in the Gravity Stone Belt, learning that Nozelle’s squad discovered it after hearing about how difficult it was to normally get there.

We see Siren Tium, one of the two other Magic Knights specially chosen for the squad, use his Rock Magic to create a model of the area, not unlike Mimosa’s special Plant Magic spell she used in her first appearance.

The hideout is complex and labyrinthine, like an ant’s nest. Mereoleona says they’ll split up into 5 groups, insisting that Zora and Asta come with her, since otherwise they’ll bicker needlessly. Zora tries to throw his Rainbow Stink Bug he used on Asta, but she just turns it back on him

After he reveals he’s a commoner, Mereoleona says it doesn’t matter, because what’s important to her is whether you’re strong or not

In the hideout, someone is moving to torture a citizen of the Clover Kingdom, speaking about being given a true name by Licht and being chosen. But Luck bursts in, stopping him before he can act

The strategy is for the other 4 groups to cause as much chaos as possible while Mereoleona, Zora and Asta move to take down the leader at the center

We see that Nozelle is also inspired to do so, both he and Mereoleona blasting through their opponents, wanting to defeat the Eye of the Midnight Sun for Fuegoleon’s sake, either as a rival or as a brother respectively.

The chapter ends as Raia (official spelling, far as I can tell) moves to action, his third eye manifesting as he’s ready to defend their hideout.

Boku no Hero Academia 161

As the Heroes and police are collaborating to do cleanup, we learn that only 3 citizens were injured at all and 4 houses were destroyed by Chisaki’s Quirk. Nejire compliments Deku’s work as she explains that he kept the damage to a minimum as he was fighting Chisaki

Back at the hospital, Deku and the others are recovering, nothing life threatening, the worst being Fatgum with bone fractures, Kirishima wrapped up like a mummy from his injuries and Amajiki having a wound that’ll heal up eventually. Rock Lock didn’t take any serious damage from the knife, so he’ll recover as well.

Eri’s a bigger concern, still unconscious and quarantined for everyone’s safety, since her Quirk is still unstable. Aizawa compliments Deku for pushing himself like that. Her Quirk being such a risk means they have to do this for hers and everyone’s sake now.

All Might has arrived, Bubble Girl and Centipeder also present, since Nighteye is in the worst shape, his injuries apparently quite bad, the doctors and Recovery Girl thinking he won’t last much longer.

Nighteye speaks to All Might as he stands beside him at the hospital bed, saying he tried his hardest to find a way to change the future, thinking that Deku’s recent changing of fate might have been due to a strong will and the energy resulting from that, everyone else contributing as well in his outburst when he fought at 100% power. He commends Deku for changing his mind as to determinism and that the future can’t be changed.

But Nighteye regrets one thing, Mirio rushing in with his own injuries. Nighteye apologizes for making his student suffer so much. He’s proud of Mirio, telling him that he shouldn’t give up on his dream to become a great Hero.

The chapter ends as he passes on, the others mourning this great loss

 One Piece 886

Pudding, Sanji and Chiffon are heading out with the cake, Pound trying to stop Chiffon, Oven standing in their path

But after they explain that they need to take the cake out and meet Big Mom halfway, he lets them through, though he stops Chiffon, saying that he can’t forgive her betrayal.

Chiffon says she’ll keep making the cake, Oven planning to make an example of her in spite of being her family.

Pound rushes at him, trying to save his daughter, Sanji rushing to attack him and make it look like Chiffon’s father did the damage.

But Oven recovers, punching Pound out, Chiffon still not recognizing him as Sanji gets her to safety.

However, Oven quickly finds her, interrupted by a Den Den Mushi, telling him that Bege’s ship is heading towards the island. Oven connects to a loudspeaker to talk to Bege, asking him to surrender.

Chiffon tries to tell them to leave her, wanting to sacrifice herself here to keep them safe, but Bege says he’ll land at port and give up, just asking Oven to not hurt his wife anymore.

As Bege’s ship gets closer, Bege attacks Oven, saying that he’s not going to give up that easily, showing his son that this is how he deals with things.

On the Sunny, the group sees ships arriving, Carrot asking Chopper if it’s a full moon tonight, possibly hinting at something connected to the Minks

Meanwhile there are many reports of Luffy showing up on islands across Totland, using Brulee to travel between the towns through the Mirror World.

Luffy tells Brulee that he’s intending to wear out Katakuri’s Observation Haki, but he also wants to beat him at full power, the chapter ending as he reveals he intends to try and learn that Observation Haki as well to beat him in the future

Seven Deadly Sins 244

We see Hendricksen and Dreyfus fighting Demons, Margaret aiding them as best she can to protect a couple being attacked. Hendricksen is healing her wounds, Dreyfus saying they shouldn’t be travelling just for Margaret’s quest to find Gilthunder

The group continues on, stopping to make camp after taking a split in the road to the right, even though Dreyfus suggested they stop at a nearby village.

Hendricksen talks to Margaret, saying he understands that she resents him for making her and Gilthunder suffer for ten years, Margaret saying she hates that she feels so helpless and unable to do anything, thanking Hendricksen and Dreyfus for helping her on this journey

After hearing a voice, Margaret wanders away. Hendricksen comments that Margaret must have felt sad at seeing the lovers before, Dreyfus noting how Hendricksen has grown to understand women a bit more.

The two seek her out, finding a boulder with a split in it and entering to find a druid altar, though Hendricksen says it’s an odd design

Margaret hears the voice from the altar, saying it can give her the power to save Gilthunder.

Dreyfus and Hendricksen try to stop her, thinking it might be Fraudrin’s kin, but it’s too late as she’s possessed, though it’s not a demon’s energy, but something more akin to light

We discover that it’s Rueduciel, one of the Four Archangels we saw in the flashback 3000 years ago, asking Hendricksen and Dreyfus to join his new Stigma, promising they will destroy the Demon Clan as the chapter ends

Golem Hearts 3

The girl from before arrives at the scene, recognizing Lamech and turning the military golem into a healing golem to stabilize him.

Lamech awakens in the town’s clinic, shocked that he’s managed to survive. The girl in question is still eating, her name revealed as Eir (a Norse figure in mythology associated with healing), someone that Lamech knows. She is still eating quite heartily, even burping loudly, Lamech commenting that she might be less isolated if she acted more feminine, but Eir doesn’t care.

Eir tells Lamech that Noah’s been repaired and is looking for herbs, commenting that he looks familiar to her, as if Lamech based him on someone in particular.

Noah returns, happy that Lamech’s alive. Lamech introduces Eir to him, one of the top 10 arcanists in the world, Noah thinking she looks like a man and calling her as such, which makes her angry.

To both of their shock, Lamech says that Eir will be Noah’s new teacher, wanting his son to become independent and learn golem arts so that he can survive on his own.

Noah refuses, Eir going to leave after Noah runs out the door, but Lamech begs her, knowing that deep down she’s a kind person

Lamech finds Noah at the cliff he ran to in the past when he was isolated by the villagers, telling Noah that he should go for his own sake, but also for Lamech’s sake, since he’s motivated to be the best arcanist around and this way he can improve himself and his father’s reputation as well.

Noah says he thought initially that he was a bother to Lamech and that his father just wanted him to leave, but now he realizes that Lamech cares for him, agreeing to leave as they embrace with the chapter’s end, Eir nearby waiting for the moment to end.

Dr. Stone 36

Magma admits his loss, Kinrou saying he may very well have lost by breaking the rules, willing to bring this up in spite of his advantage. But Jasper says it doesn’t count since the helmet was clothing, not a weapon

But before Kinrou can be declared the winner, Magma smashes the helmet from behind, knocking Kinrou out as he’s called the winner of the match instead

Senkuu still sees a bright spot, since Magma was damaged in the battle, but there’s a problem if Kohaku can’t get back in time.

Chrome and Mantle’s match starts, much simpler by comparison to Magma and Kinrou’s fight, though Chrome wants to prolong it, both of them fighting in a much more comical way.

Magma sees Kohaku coming from the forest, signaling Mantle, who throws the match, leading to Kohaku being disqualified, the match going to Senkuu.

Kohaku is just happy Suika’s alive, embracing her friend

Senkuu tells Ginrou he’s their last hope, Ginrou revealing he’s been keeping the raw ingredients for the enhancement drink Senkuu was making in his mouth.

But in spite of Chrome’s concerns that eating it directly might hurt his stomach, Senkuu says in this situation, Ginrou’s simple nature might help.

Argo steps into the ring, Ginrou feeling the effects, though he looks unsteady in spite of feeling like he’s stronger than ever in his mind

The chapter ends as Ginrou suddenly lunges forward, smashing his spear into Argo’s stomach, seemingly defeating him in one blow

We Can’t Study 39

Yuiga finds that it’s Furuhashi at the train station, who hides the fact that she got distracted by looking at the stars and was the girl who helped the other lost child that was the sister to the one Yuiga helped. She instead says it’s a secret that a woman keeps, Yuiga accepting that from the previous lessons he’s learned from her regarding “female psychology”

They decide to leave, Furuhashi tired out from wearing the geta sandals.

A hotel happens to be in the area, but they only have one room left. Yuiga moves to leave, but Fumino creates an opportunity to not suspect them by saying they’re siblings, so that the innkeeper isn’t uncomfortable giving a room to two high school students of the opposite sex

The room only has one futon, Yuiga offering to sleep on the floor. But Fumino brings up that he could catch a cold, the pair reluctantly getting into the futon together

They can’t sleep, Yuiga noticing the stars at night. Fumino is ecstatic, gushing about them as she remembers a book where someone wanted to become an astronaut, but decided to try in a different way, traveling not physically, but spiritually, something that inspired her.

We see that Fumino’s mother, the one that motivated her interest in no small part, was in the hospital when Fumino was a child, implying that she has passed away, Fumino happy at the memories.

Yuiga is impressed at how Fumino, Rizu, Uruka and Asumi are all pursuing dreams that involve something they’re not good at, but he doesn’t have a dream of his own

Fumino says it’s not that amazing, but that she’ll support him if he finds a dream that he wants to do in the future

Yuiga thinks about Asumi asking him what he wanted to do after exams, Fumino having fallen asleep

She remembers her mother telling her that even if she’s gone, she’ll be in a star that she can see in the sky

Fumino wakes up, grasping Yuiga’s hand as she did her mother’s in her dream, falling asleep in spite of the embarrassment

The two wake up the next morning, still flustered at their close contact, Fumino trying to apologize in her head to Rizu and Uruka as the chapter ends

Black Clover 134

Seems like the wine from last chapter wasn’t meant to be a congratulation gift from Fuegoleon, but a thank you from Mereoleona for Yami visting Fuegoleon in the hospital.

We see a dream of Rhya’s where a group of people meet, speaking about Licht having a child with a princess he is to marry soon, a half elf, strongly suggesting that he is part of the elf tribe mentioned before, along with Rhya and Vetto.

As Rhya wakes up, he comments that the awakening is near, possibly referring to Licht in some way

Back with the Royal Knights, Asta is still trying to comprehend that Zora isn’t Zechs and that he’s actually a Black Bull, even his superior. Like Noelle, he joined secretly, not through official channels like Asta did.

Mereoleona tells them to line up to receive new robes enchanted to resist magic, Asta wanting to wear his old robe, though he accepts it with a spaced out face.

Rill is also looking distant, mulling over his defeat in the finals in spite of being a captain

Yuno provokes Asta, saying that he might not be up to the task and that he won’t be the Wizard King, but instead Yuno with his power.

Asta gains new resolve with that exchange, everyone finishing up and ready to set off in their new robes

Only Asta’s robe is short, since they ran out of materials, but we also see that some other members are present, including Langris’ teammates, Cobb, the spatial magic user and Nozelle, Noelle’s older brother

As the king brings up how important the royalty of the Royal Knights is, Mereoleona shuts him down by saying they should only think of victory in this mission

We learn that the Eye of the Midnight Sun’s hideout is in a strong magic zone, the Gravity Stone Belt’s Floating Dungeon as the chapter concludes

Boku no Hero Academia 160

I was mistaken about what was happening at the end of last chapter: the League of Villains was ready to attack the truck transporting the villains from the Eight Precepts, not actually in the truck doing so themselves.

We see Compress compliment Toga for telling them the route to get to the truck, though she says it was Twice that should get the credit, since she was focused on Deku. She observed the police, saying that this is the best chance to get the serum, since that’s in the truck as well, though she thinks it’ll be good for them anyway to show that they’re serious.

Spinner is the driver, the truck’s driver seeing Shigaraki on the roof.

Dabi attacks, but we see that a Hero, Sand Hero Snatch, is guarding the truck, serving as a counter to Shigaraki’s Quirk, since he can’t grasp the cloud of sand to disintegrate it.

Compress throws a rock, enlarging it from its compressed state to knock over the car in front, crashing into the others behind it

Snatch recognizes Dabi, saying that he must be stopped so his burn victims won’t increase, but Dabi blasts him, discerning that he couldn’t turn his whole body into sand and Compress capturing him like he did Bakugou in the past

Shigaraki approaches Chisaki, bound to a gurney. He taunts him, saying that with his wanting to destroy Quirks, he shouldn’t have depended on Quirks as much.

The disintegration Quirk starts to affect Chisaki’s arm as Shigaraki touches it, slashed off to spare him. Compress steals the serum and the other box as well, revealing he has a new prosthetic mechanical arm to replace his lost limb

Shigaraki leaves Overhaul behind as they leave with the serum, saying that they will be the next ones to change the world, not Overhaul, leaving him to suffer as they take his accomplishment with them.

Seven Deadly Sins 243

Everyone is still in shock, Elizabeth asking Meliodas what his method to save her will be, her former lover revealing that he intends to become the Demon King

Hawk eats another portion of demon meat, transforming as he tries to stop Meliodas. But his friend speaks, saying that he knew that the Demon King was watching through Hawk’s eyes

Meliodas, Elizabeth and Chandler leave, the others moving inside.

Diane says they have to go after Meliodas, Merlin looking closer at Hawk after he mentions Meliodas calling him the Demon King.

Merlin discovers that Hawk’s body is like a portal to Purgatory, Diane thinking they can use this connection to recover Meliodas’ memories, King praising her ingenuity

But Merlin says such a task would be impossible, no one besides Meliodas having survived in Purgatory.

Her father (Belialuin perhaps?) managed to open a portal at some point, returning a feeble old man, the environment withering his body and rotting his mind

The environment is dangerous in so many ways, immense heat and cold, time warped so that even a minute is like a year. And the Demon King resides there, keeping watching over Meliodas’ emotions that he’s stolen

Ban volunteers, bringing up his immortality as a benefit. But Merlin notes that his soul is still vulnerable. And even granting that he could survive and get Meliodas’ emotions back, he could still be trapped by the souls of the dead that reside there.

King objects, but Ban insists that he must save his friend by his own efforts.

Merlin opens the portal, Ban thrown in as the chapter ends with him arriving in Purgatory
