No One Piece this week

Boku no Hero Academia 51

Deku rushes off the train, even though the conductor is trying to keep everyone on it for their safety, concerned about Gran Torino fighting what looks like Noumu.

We see Gran Torino fighting the Noumu, thinking it’s a decent fight, but not sure what it is or why it’s here. He dodges another attack, but realizes it isn’t focused on him as it starts to swipe at some civilians.

Suddenly, Endeavor’s flame engulfs it, the Hero wanting to find Stain, but settling for another Villain instead.

Deku gets into the thick of the conflict, the other Noumu being held off by local Heroes, one of them looking for Iida, which confuses Deku, since he didn’t think someone like him would leave a fight.

He puts things together, thinking that he’s going after the Hero Killer, so he starts to look elsewhere for him.

We find that Shigaraki is still injured, so he took Noumu from his superior, even though they weren’t on the level of the one that fought All Might. His sensei tells him that he should use this as a learning experience, but it seems Shigaraki is still obsessed with outdoing Stain and showing himself to be stronger.

Iida’s fight against Stain is going badly, Stain dodging his attacks and pinning him with a sword. He tells the young Hero that he and his brother were both fakes, but Iida says that he was inspiring, saving many people and giving him a dream to seek after.

But Stain tells him that he should focus on saving the other Hero he injured instead of satisfying his own desires. Such an obsession with selfish ideas and hatred towards particular enemies is the last thing you could call heroic in the Hero Killer’s eyes.

Iida is unable to move, seemingly through Stain’s Quirk. As Stain moves to kill him, he says he’ll sacrifice him for a more just world, Iida retorting that he’s a monster for killing his brother.

The chapter ends as Deku bursts in, punching Stain to help save Iida.

World Trigger 109

Kou greets Kageura, who tries to blame him for being late after he drew in the attention of the other Border agents.

The pair pleads with Kou to help them, but he says they brought it on by teasing Kageura, saying that he has a Side Effect that lets him read minds. They leave, as Kou tells the B Ranker that he should ease up or he’ll get demoted again.

Yuma asks if he really wants to be A Rank, Kou introducing the Neighbor to Kageura, who’s impressed that he beat Arafune and Murakami. He asks why Yuma’s team is trying to get to A Rank so fast, Yuma saying that he could use his Side Effect to read his mind. But Kageura says it’s not like that, leaving because he’s annoyed at so many people being here.

Before he leaves, though, he tells Yuma that he won’t fight him to help Tamakoma-2 get to A rank, that they’ll have to beat them to get to A rank.

Kou explains the true nature of Kageura’s Side Effect, Emotion Perception, able to feel varying sensations with each type of feeling people direct at him. Kou tells Yuma that he and Kageura are similar in a way, very simple and straightforward

Osamu is meeting with Izumi, but one of his squad members, Kuiga, says that they don’t have time to deal with him. But before he can push Osamu away, Izumi kicks him in the back of the head, saying that he’s being a bother.

Tachikawa’s Operator comes out as well, the three of them bickering slightly, before Tachikawa pokes fun at Kuiga for being such a pain with his exaggerated sense of duty.

Osamu explains to Izumi that Arashiyama taught him some skills so he can break down the opponent’s defenses, but he wants Izumi to help him as well, since he knows about composite shots.
Izumi thinks Osamu needs experience, the chapter ending as he says he’ll give him more direct training if he can beat Kuiga 100 times.

Seven Deadly Sins 133

Howser starts the second battle alongside Gilthunder against the Clay Dragon by utilizing a sword form taught by Dreyfus, so he can fight as effectively as possible, rather than being reckless.

He still isn’t doing much damage, but with Dreyfus’ training more clear in his head, he focuses his Tempest power into the tip of his ash stick and strikes with a new technique, Break Through, piercing the dragon’s skin.

Meanwhile, Gilthunder is observed by Merlin to be controlling his Thunderbolt power and creating a shield and armor along with a blade on the ash stick.

The two, having improved their techniques to compensate for initial weaknesses, start to fight better. Gil defends against the Clay Dragon’s attack and starts to overwhelm him with lightning, pushing him into the air with the force.

The battle ends, Jenna saying that they did well, but they can’t let their guard down against a powerful opponent in the future. Hendricksen notes how strong those two have become over the years.

Meliodas thanks him for saving Gil and Howser, Hendricksen overcome with emotion, since he still feels like he is guilty for betraying his kingdom.

Gowther and Arthur are fighting some type of golem, which splits apart when Arthur strikes it. The Sin of Gluttony tries to manipulate it with Jack, but it slices off its head, revealing it’s being controlled by someone else.

King asks Jenna to take him in, the Druid Priestess saying that he’ll have to go in with Hendricksen, since the training requires pairs.

Meliodas appears, saying he’ll go in, and implying he still hasn’t technically acquired his power yet, so he needs to train to make sure he can properly use it when he does.

The two enter the room, but King becomes angry when Meliodas says that he should try to be more understanding of Hendricksen, since he was being controlled by Fraudrin.

King becomes suspicious of Meliodas, the chapter ending as he attacks him, wondering if the Sin of Wrath is really on their side, since he knows so much about the Ten Commandments

Magi 274

We resume with people shocked that the Seven Seas Alliance is getting involved with Kou’s civil war.

Kouha thinks this action contradicts the alliance’s principle of not invading other countries, but Darius responds that this is merely them supporting one of their allies to ease the conflict. They say that since they recognize Hakuryuu as the legitimate emperor, that his vow of loyalty to the Seven Seas Alliance constitutes Kou being with them and not strictly independent.

Koumei’s group is confused as to how the Sasan army got through the Tenzan mountains, concluding that Hakuei either gave up or was defeated, the former the case as we see her with Sinbad.

He says this was the best way to save Hakuryuu’s life, saying he’ll take over from here.

It turns out the majority of Sinbad’s alliance is moving towards Balbadd to finish this, both Artemyra and Heliohapt’s rulers, along with most of the Eight Generals coming to the port city.

Koumei wonders how this was possible, since this would’ve entailed getting around the Kou Empire’s intelligence network.

We flashback to Hakuryuu contacting Sinbad, who says that Hakuryuu was who made it possible, defeating Gyokuen and disrupting Al Thamen’s control so that he could provide assistance to him.

Hakuryuu regrets having to do this, but he realizes he couldn’t do this alone, accepting the help of Sinbad.

The chapter ends as we see Judar and Alibaba still flying through the unknown world to try to get to where Aladdin and the others are.

Bleach 636

Both Kenpachi and Mayuri are still in shock at Pernida’s form changing, while Ikkaku, Yumichika and Nemu don’t want to get involved.

The two underlings of Kenpachi are surprised that Nemu is speaking of her own accord, but she says that she thinks this enemy won’t be a threat to her master, Ikkaku and Yumichika agreeing in relation to Kenpachi.

Suddenly, Kenpachi’s arm twists around further, the brutal Soul Reaper ripping it off willingly to stop it from attacking him.

Mayuri praises him for making such a quick decision to preserve the rest of his body, but Zaraki isn’t sure if he’s being genuine or not. The two still don’t understand the nature of the Compulsory’s power, Nemu told to stop Kenpachi’s bleeding.

But the 11th division captain is frustrated at being told he shouldn’t just rush at it, Mayuri saying they should wait and observe.

Kenpachi ignores his partner’s words of caution, trying to attack again with a stronger attack, but his legs are snapped out from under him.

Mayuri stabs Kenpachi before anything further happens, using Ashisogi Jizou to paralyze his body. But it seems like it just makes other parts of Kenpachi’s body twist around instead, since the initial release only nullifies the nerve control, but still maintains pain reception. So Mayuri utilizes a special power of his Zanpakutou, emitting a sound that paralyzes Kenpachi completely.

It also affects Pernidas, Mayuri noting that this means the ability isn’t something from his body, but his nerves. He theorizes that the Quincy utilizes them to infiltrate other peoples’ bodies and control them.

As Pernidas tries to attack Mayuri with the black tendrils of his nerves, the scientist Soul Reaper sprays a drug that forcibly exposes the nerves to the outside, making the pain excruciatingly severe.

The chapter ends as Mayuri says he plans to test his drugs thoroughly on such a subject.

Toriko 332

We see someone in the waiting room of the Blue Grill stadium, flipping through multiple books and falling asleep.

Elsewhere, Condor, one of the 10 Shell 5, opens the door, being told by another chef to close it and quiet down. Condor is amazed that even the ST 10 are here, since they don’t come very often to competitions.

Other chefs comment on how they’re amazed at the old chef’s remembering how many times he told him to close the door, while also noting how the value of a soul doesn’t change with time.

The sleeping chef, Asarudy, is seen to have been reading a book by Malisman of the 0th Biotope. It was brought by Ichiryuu, who was one of the people that came to Blue Grill 300 years ago, seen as one of the strongest people in the area, since he beat Don Slime.

Asarudy tells Condor that he called ST10, Condor wondering why he did that, since it suggests he was excited about this. The two continue to bicker, but are stopped as another chef comes in, saying they need to come to the stadium.

People are waiting as the announcer teases them with the promise of the 10 Shell 5’s cooking, said to be able to make even a bowl of rice taste amazing when viewing their cooking.

The ST 10 are explained to be the Spiritual Tasters, 10 people like the G7 in Human World, with excellent palates, able to even discern Spirit Food’s taste.

And we see Don Slime on what appears to be a throne, revealing that he is the king of Blue Grill, in spite of being a Food Spirit. He’s especially excited at the prospect of Human World’s chefs.

The 5 are nearly ready to be chosen, though Komatsu is still nowhere to be found, the others looking for him, while Wabutora, Chiru, Damala Sky and Nono are the other 4 chefs.

Komatsu is told by the old man about the Soul Trading that has gone on in Blue Grill for centuries. Their ancestors were slaves of the Nitro and their superior genes were passed on, but they continue to exchange the weaker souls for stronger ones. Those whose genes possess a wound to their Gourmet Cells are seen as worthless and exchanged for something better so that the civilization can continue to thrive, the failures only comprising 10% of the population.

The old man further explains that they weed out the weaker people from the slums every 6 months, Chako’s mother one of them, since her eyes had always been weak.  Komatsu worries that Chako will also have his soul traded, the old man saying that Chako does have a weak sense of smell and taste, referring to his odd behavior in regards to the smell in the bathroom and the taste of Komatsu’s food.

Komatsu thinks the child may have a taste disorder, the geezer telling him that they’ve taken Chako to the Kitchen of Eternity.

Komatsu is contacted about the cooking competition as we shift back to the stadium. Yuda joins the other 4 as the representatives and we see the 10 Shell 5 as the chapter concludes on the competition truly beginning.

Fairy Tail 445

Zeref asks one of the Spriggan Twelve, Imber, to assemble the others, but he says it will be difficult, since the Dark Mage is so fickle, Zeref wondering if he’s comparing him to a spring breeze. Two other Spriggans, Azir and Dimaria, comment on how he’s more like a desert wind or a black gust.

Yet another Spriggan, August, an old man, comments that Zeref’s attitude seems to have changed, wondering if he’s prepared for Ragnarok, which Zeref says is called the Dragon King Festival in Ishgar.

Yajeel/Yazir appears, saying that the visitor from Ishgar, Makarov, wanted to see him, so he allowed it.

The two are left alone, Makarov told that Zeref is both the Dark Mage from Ishgar and the Spriggan Emperor in Arakitashia.

He prefers Zeref, but he’s been preparing in one way or another with the empire of Alvareth, created over hundreds of years from a small country.

Makarov wonders if it was to acquire Lumen Histoire, Zeref saying that he cannot hide its true identity from him, the strongest of the Grand Fairy magic spells, Fairy Heart.

But Zeref says that his goal of acquiring that was recent, since Alvareth was initially created to counter Acnologia. Some of his Spriggan Twelve acted independently to invade Ishgar, but he stopped them, partly because of the threats of Etherion and Face, but mostly because it was bad timing.

His goal now is extermination, seeing who will survive in the upcoming Dragon King Festival. Makarov says he cannot agree to giving him Mavis, but is knocked back by Zeref.

Zeref says he will now kill the Guild Master, bringing out the rage in Natsu.

Makarov’s last words are calling Zeref a demon, but he retorts that Spriggans are a type of fairy.

But before Makarov is killed, Mest appears and teleports him away.

The chapter concludes as Fairy Tail meets Makarov, who tells them that Zeref is here, provoking Natsu’s interest.

WSR 7-13-15

Disclaimer: These aren’t official translations, merely scanlations. Buy localized or original manga to support the author if at all possible. Know the difference between piracy/theft and sharing without personal profit.

No World Trigger this week (anime has been slightly delayed as well, sadly). And Magi has been delayed, so hopefully we’ll catch up, even slightly, next week

Boku no Hero Academia 50

Gran Torino thinks they should move onto the next stage, since they’re 3 days into the workplace experience already. Since he’s just been fighting Gran Torino, the old Hero thinks Deku might be getting too used to his tactics, so they’re going to find some Villains to fight and give him some diversity.

We’re told that it’s only in densely populated areas that crime is especially high, the rural areas having significantly less population by comparison. They’re heading to Shibuya, one of the more crime ridden places.

Meanwhile, Iida’s superior has already figured out that he’s chasing the Hero Killer. He warns him that acting out of a personal grudge is not befitting of a Hero, who doesn’t have the authority to punish or judge Villains, but only capture them.

But Iida is still wrestling with the emotions he’s experiencing.

Stain appears with Shigaraki, explaining that he’s been reforming the towns he’s come through by taking out Heroes who don’t meet his standard. To be a true Hero, one must have great accomplishments rather than doing it purely for money.

Shigaraki thinks Stain’s being a bit too serious, but Black Mist comments that crime has lowered since Stain appeared in the various cities, suggesting that he’s weeding out the weaker Heroes.

Black Mist is told to release multiple Noumu, each of them possessing a unique appearance compared to the original. Shigaraki says he’s going to show Stain how he does things, just destroying everything in his path.

Deku and Gran Torino are nearing their destination, but the train has an emergency stop, Deku realizing they’re at Hosu as Gran Torino pushes the Noumu out of the train.

Iida splits off from his superior, finding Stain prepared to kill another Hero. He tries to attack him, but Stain knocks him away with a single slice. The Villain comments how inexperienced Iida appears and says that even he could be target, but he’s not worth his time now.

The enraged Hero tells him that he’s Ingenium’s brother and that he will take him out, the chapter concluding on this resolve as Stain responds that he’ll have to prove it.

Seven Deadly Sins 132

Gilthunder, Howzer and Griamore are healed by Jenna, surprised to see everyone else here.

Meanwhile, King and Hendricksen are arguing over what to do about the aftermath. King says he cannot forgive the Druid traitor, but Hendricksen says that he’ll accept his punishment after he saves Britannia from the Ten Commandments.

Jenna tells everyone that they’re starting training, even King convinced by the argument that the Ten Commandments aren’t going to just wait for them. Oslo appears, wanting to help King and training with him as well.

They must go with only the clothes they have, given an ash rod enhanced with magic to defend themselves. Even Hawk decides to go along, only Merlin not coming since she doesn’t have a physical body.

Hawk is left alone, seeking out a light in the darkness.

Gil and Howzer are together, finding themselves in a room of Goddess Amber. They have to choose one to start their training, Jenna even wanting to start them with the one that nearly killed them before. Gil agrees, Howzer begrudgingly going along with it so they can get stronger.

Their opponent is a Clay Dragon, immune to wind and lightning, making their abilities nearly pointless.

The two start to fight again, their personalities and strategies clashing.

Gil flashes back to Meliodas training him, saying he’s too rigid. He needs to be aware and prepared for various outcomes of a fight rather than just what he expects.

Howzer also remembers training with Dreyfus and being told that he has to have some discretion in fights and not be so reckless in thinking he can win against every opponent.

The two resume the fight by teaming up and working together for once, the chapter ending as Merlin observes that their power levels are starting to change.

Bleach 635

Liltotto isn’t surprised that Bazz B (which meant Bazzard Black, not Buzzard Black, since even the English rendering was Bazz B, not Buzz B) lost to Jugram, even thinking his whole speech was pointless.

But it turns out she and Giselle couldn’t even touch Juhabach either, both of them in bad shape. He leaves them to die as he starts to sleep, Jugram commenting on how cruel and distant his power is, seeing the future so clearly.

Gerard is looking for the other Royal Guard, unable to find them.

Meanwhile, Ichigo’s group is still looking for Grimmjow and Askin.

The Stern Ritter is nearby, trying to stay away from them, since he didn’t want to fight so early. But Grimmjow appears, the Quincy running away, throwing a ball at him laced with poison. With his Death Dealing, he enhances its efficacy and Grimmjow collapses under its effects.

We see Kyouraku’s group, with Lille Barro, the Ex Axis, targeting Shuuhei, since he’s considered one of the weaker ones in the group. He picks the Soul Reaper off as we shift scenes again.

Mayuri and Kenpachi meet up with the Compulsory of the Stern Ritter. The reckless Soul Reaper asks what it is, Mayuri saying he’s going to ignore the 11th division captain asking pointless questions.

But Kenpachi suddenly attacks him. As he pulls back, one of his arms is damaged, but he managed to get in a solid blow. But the chapter ends with the Quincy’s body twisting and contorting into something, Kenpachi still confused and Mayuri interested in what this fight holds for his observations.

One Piece 794

Sabo is talking with Robin and Zoro as Luffy’s resting. He says that CP 0 is turning back and heading to Dressrosa, so he suggests everyone get out as soon as they can.

But the Straw Hat Pirates are more shocked that Luffy had another brother, Sabo explaining that he was seen as dead to them after the incident.

We see that Dragon picked up Sabo after his ship was shot down by the Marines, nursed back to health by the Revolutionary Army. But it turns out he has amnesia, only remembering vague things, like his desire to be free from his parents and their oppressive rules that treated him like royalty.

Sabo remembered everything after seeing Ace’s picture in the aftermath of the Marineford war, but he was unable to save him from dying, also discovering that Dragon is Luffy’s father. After discovering this, he was so distraught he was unconscious for 3 days. But after he came to, he resolved to get Ace’s Mera Mera Fruit.

We then see his reunion with Luffy from his perspective, expanding on it with him saying that he’s glad Luffy survived, since he only lost one brother and can reunite with his other sibling after so many years.

Luffy agrees that Sabo should have the Mera Mera Fruit as we return to the present. Sabo leaves them a Vivre Card for Luffy and entrusts his safety to them for now as he leaves.

The chapter concludes as Sabo flies away on crows summoned by someone from the Revolutionary Army, going to meet up with everyone else.

One Piece is on break next week.

Toriko 331

Chako (I misread the name last time) comes back to Komatsu, having gone back to get his autographs from the 10 Shell Five.

The two arrive at the port city of Blue Grill, much more impoverished by comparison. Komatsu is told by an old man wearing a mask that there are a lot of Food Spirits in the area, so he’ll have to stay the night.

Chako lives here in a decommissioned water pipe, his mom working as a chef for a big project. He wants to become a chef as well, Komatsu impressed by this and offering to cook for him. He shows that he can sharpen knives with his apron (which I think might’ve been established before at some point). The two say “itadakimasu” before they eat, but Chako doesn’t think it’s that good. The two go to sleep, Komatsu hearing Chako speak about his mom in his sleep.

Meanwhile, Tack, a member of the Goro Tribe, explains that the project Blue Grill is doing involves Soul Transactions. His own tribe did something similar as Gourmet Shamans. The masks worn by various people mean they are possessed by Food Spirits, since they need to be shielded from the light of the Front World, the Back Channel pitch black in comparison.

The exchanges of souls are done to produce new tastes and Chinchin’s group must participate as well, though they must win the competition to do so.

Komatsu awakens after a horrible dream where Chako was wearing a mask and trying to take him over as well.

The old man outside tells Komatsu that Chako was taken away, possibly to have his soul sold like his mother’s was.

The chapter ends as the match between the 5 chefs of the 10 Shell Restaurants and Chinchin’s group is almost ready to start.

Fairy Tail 444

Everyone on the island is getting onto a fishing boat that happened to be nearby. The fisherman are shocked at what happened to Caracolle Island, Erza noting that it shrunk, concluding that Brandish’s magic is more specifically a mass manipulation type and on a high scale.

The people are gathering together, the kid saved by Wendy and Charle wanting to thank them. But before anyone realizes it, Mest teleports them off the boat into an underwater temple. This is the location their informant told them to meet him at.

Suddenly the temple turns into a vehicle and starts to move, revealing that the one piloting it is Angel, otherwise known as Sorano, from the Oracion Seis. She’s the spy, though Erza thought Cobra would’ve been better, Mest saying he was too much of a hassle.

Sorano says that she owed Mest a favor for breaking her out of jail, but reminds Lucy that she killed Karen, the previous owner of Loki.

The submarine with wings is heading towards where Makarov is, according to the Stellar Spirit Mage.

We see Makarov playing cards with Yazir, a subordinate of the king of Alvareth. It turns out that the monarch is kinder than many expected, though he’s also very prone to leaving the castle, leaving things to others instead.

The chapter ends as we’re shown that the emperor is none other than Zeref, shocking Makarov.
