No One Piece this week and hopefully we’re catching up to Magi. Also no World Trigger, which I think was indicated last week or is a result of Ashihara having to consult for the anime’s adaptation, most likely. Either way, I forgot to mention it, apparently, so here you go.

Naruto 700 +7

Shin explains what we’ve been thinking for a while: the other Shins are clones of him which he regards as expendable. Sakura says this is terrible, something that Orochimaru would do.

The Uchiha says that Orochimaru was his master, more specifically the one who used him as a test subject to improve his cloning techniques. Sacrificing his teeth and nerves, Shin acquired reserves to replace his organs.

Naruto can’t find Sakura even with Sage mode, the two concluding that, since Danzou also got his Sharingan imbedded arm from Orochimaru, they’ll have to find the Sannin and ask about his possible location.

Sasuke’s concerned about Sarada, Naruto thinking they need to keep them close so they aren’t taken hostage and used as leverage. Chouchou tries to cut the tension by giving them a bag of lightly salted chips.

Meanwhile, Shin tells Sakura that she shouldn’t feel bad, since, in a sense, living beings never actually die, since their genes are passed down to children. He compares the act of dying to genes consuming the other cells and slowly killing the shell of flesh.

Sakura argues that he’s treating them as mere shells when they have feelings and emotions. But Shin responds that war and conflict are the best way to determine the strongest genes and weed out the weak.

He claims that war is the best way to improve anything, including shinobi, referring to the past wars that created many powerful techniques that survived to this day. Akatsuki, according to Shin, is the key to continuing war and progressing human evolution. Sakura says he’s horrible, not knowing anything about being a parent.

Meanwhile, Naruto’s group has met up with Yamato, who says he has to maintain his position in order to follow Orochimaru if necessary. Sasuke will serve as a guide instead, taking them into the hideout.

They meet up with Suigetsu and Juugou, asking them to reveal where Orochimaru is. But he appears, surprised that Naruto and Sasuke are here.

Sasuke demands to know what’s going on, Orochimaru taking them to another room. He explains that Shin’s ability is connected with his clones and that he’s not a true Uchiha, obsessed with Itachi’s power.

His body allowed anything to be transplanted into it without rejection, including Sharingan. Orochimaru wanted this power, so he continuously cloned him, utilizing science to try to figure out the secrets of his body. He compares them to Shadow clones, only more persistent and unique.

Orochimaru explains that you’d have to kill them, Naruto saying he’s terrible to regard humans with so little concern. The Sannin responds that he’s found humans to be almost slaves to their genes, able to find out such things with his research. Sarada even asks if he can find out something like that with a parent and child, the Sannin saying she can find out if she wants.

Sasuke demands to know Shin’s location, Orochimaru agreeing, since the clone being captured would be a benefit to both Konoha and himself.

Sarada asks Suigetsu if he knows where Karin is, the shinobi saying that she’s at another base. Sarada then has one more question as we shift to another room.

Sarada and Suigetsu are in the room, Suigetsu shocked to think that Sasuke and Karin could’ve had a child. He looks for something of Karin’s to compare for DNA, putting some of Sarada’s material into a machine and evaluating it. It’s a match, Karin definitely Sarada’s mother.

But Sarada isn’t entirely satisfied, remembering that Sakura said their feelings were connected, thinking that they still have some bond even if they’re not biologically related.

Suigetsu meets up with Naruto, who’s been eavesdropping, Naruto saying he didn’t know any of this, thinking Sasuke’s a jerk for not revealing such a thing.

Naruto goes to tell Sarada that they need to find Sakura, but Sarada responds that everyone’s been lying to her, that she doesn’t care about saving someone who isn’t her mom and that she doesn’t care about anyone. We see her Sharingan activated again as the chapter ends.

Boku no Hero Academia 45

2 days after the Sports Festival, Deku’s in a train and complimented by other people who recognize him.

Deku arrives at school, Iida trying to get there early, already thinking he’s late for not being at school 10 minutes before classes start.

Other classmates talk about how they’re getting a lot of attention after the festival. Aizawa comes in, saying today will be a special class. The students are going to pick their Hero names today. The nominations they’re getting aren’t set in stone, possibly dropping as they fail to show promise in their later years before they graduate.

We see the tally of nominations: Todoroki still in 1st place, partly because of his connections to the #2 Hero Endeavor, but Bakugou right behind him.

Aizawa explains that they’ll also be getting some firsthand experience, since they’re still new to the Hero world, the festival and the Villain attack the first exposure they’ve had to the pressure.

Midnight comes in, serving as the evaluator for each name’s impact. Aizawa also notes that the name can have some influence on what kind of impression people have of you.

Aoyama, with the Navel Laser Quirk, decides on his Hero name, I Can’t Stop Sparkling, which everyone comments is way too long. Midnight says he could shorten it to “Can’t Stop Sparkling” and it might be better.

Ashido puts up her name as Alien Queen, people commenting that this is like a Japanese comedy routine where people take a topic and try to one up each other with absurd suggestions.

Tsuyu has a simple, but effective, name of Froppy, which she’s already decided since elementary school. Everyone likes it, even Midnight complimenting it.

Kirishima has thought of Red Riot, a nod to a Hero he admires called Crimson Riot. Midnight says he’ll be exposed to a lot of pressure because of that, but the Hardening Quirk user is prepared.

Deku thinks to himself that he’s thought of many names, but with All Might entrusting him with so much responsibility, it’s impossible for him to take any of them.

Kaminari has the name Jamming-Whey (a pun on what he says in Japanese after he overexerts his Quirk, rendered as something like derp previously) suggested to him by Kyouka.

We see a lot of others, mostly using the Quirk names or something related to them, like Tail Man for Ojirou. Bakugou has an absurd naming sense, seemingly just using ideas like Blasty McSplode. Ochako has Uravity as her Hero name for now. Ashido decides on Pinky, which feels less effective than Alien Queen, sadly.

All that’s left is Bakugou’s revision, Iida and Deku.

Iida remembers that his brother told him he’s probably become a paraplegic, losing all feeling in his legs. He entrusts the name to his brother, but he says he can’t take it yet.

We find that Deku has actually taken the name that was a source of bullying from Bakugou and twisted it with Uraraka’s encouragement to have the vibe of “never giving up”

The chapter ends as Cementoss tells All Might that a nomination has come in for Midoriya, but All Might is shocked to see who it’s from, though we don’t figure this out, leaving it for next time.

Seven Deadly Sins 127

The group is heading to Megadozer on Hawk’s mother. King wonders if they can use Merlin’s teleportation, but she says it’s taking most of her power to just keep her soul in her Sacred Treasure.

She warns King that there’s a dangerous presence where Diane is heading, Meliodas agreeing.

We see Galan talking about how he supposedly killed Meliodas, the others skeptical. The Commandment of Truth heads out, not able to stay still for long.

Diane is heading to Megadozer, remembering how Matrona sacrificed herself to save Diane’s life. But she’s approached by Galan, running away as fast as she can. Another Commandment approaches her, called Monspiet. He’s especially hungry for souls, noting how a giant is more filling.

Galan says that Diane should be dead, asking her how she’s still alive. The Sin of Envy attacks the Commandment of Truth with Gideon, but he’s unharmed. He moves to kill her, kicking the giantess back so Montspiet can eat her. Suddenly, he’s knocked away by a spire of earth, Galan attacked as well and put in a sphere of earth to keep him immobile.

The chapter ends with Diane seeing what appears to be Matrona. I’m skeptical of this: it could be her, but it also might be Dolores who’s gotten stronger after years of training and resembles Matrona. Supposedly the scars match, so Matrona might’ve been resurrected or healed from the poison at some point and became a wanderer.

Bleach 630

Grimmjow, having attacked Askin, is approached by Ichigo’s group. The Quincy runs away in the confusion. The Arrancar tells him to wait, Askin saying he’ll only do so if they promise not to kill him. Grimmjow notes that he’s probably weaker than them, so he asks why he’s making a big deal about this. Askin responds that he intended to kill everyone stealthily.

The Death Dealing asks Grimmjow why they’re here, the Sexta Espada responding that he’s Ichigo’s rival. Askin says they have a common enemy, but Grimmjow simply starts to release his Zanpakutou’s power and pursue the Quincy anyway.

Meanwhile, Jugram tells one of his subordinates, who’s informed him about the Schutzstaffel spreading out in 5 directions, to follow Uryuu and let him know if the next Almighty does anything out of the ordinary.

Haschwalth thinks to himself that it’s too early to give Uryuu this kind of authority, being part of the S.S. giving him more leeway in missions and being able to act independently.

Before the soldier can leave, he’s killed by Bazz-B, Jugram asking why he’s here.

Bazz B rushes to fight him, the two scuffling for a while, but then splitting apart. Jugram notes that Bazz B was injured by Auschwallen, the Heat explaining that even if they weren’t hit by the light, they lost their Vollstandig powers, only retaining their Schrift abilities, those hit by the light killed like Robert Accutrone.

The chapter concludes with Jugram and Bazz B staring off, the Heat saying that Jugram is a traitor and that he has come to kill him and remove Juhabach from the throne. We’re starting what appears to be a flashback to Jugram’s past.

Toriko 327

We start with the groups heading out after getting maps to each ingredient they’re tasked with, a path marked by the Gourmet Slime Mold that Aimaru used before.

Toriko tells Rin that they’ll get married in a month from now when they have the Full Course assembled, also promising to Komatsu they they’ll have brought together all of the ingredients when they next meet up.

Everyone sets off in their individual Camping Monsters made for sea travel. Brunch and Zebra meet up with a giant fish, even their Battleship Pufferfish unable to scratch it.

The others are also talking about their partnerships, Sani not liking being put together with Livebearer, while Tairan and Coco conclude that the area they’re going to must be dangerous to have both of them as a team.

Toriko and Starjun are talking, the Bishokukai Chef noting that he wanted to go to the Back Channel, but the goal of getting the Full Course together is more important. He had a memory, though he’s not sure if it’s his or his Gourmet Cells, the Back Channel providing potential information related to it.

Toriko thinks that his desire to add GOD to his Full Course might not have been his desire, seeing as they’re somewhat vehicles for the Gourmet Cells.

Starjun notes how strong Toriko has gotten, the Gourmet Hunter saying that the loss he suffered at the Gourmet Fest is still lingering in his mind after these 2 years and that maybe the fight would be different now.

Jiji explains to Komatsu that there are actually 4 doors to the Back Channel: 3 exist at the 3 islands of the Black Triangle and one is in the Civilization of Area 6, the safest one to access.

The civilization is called Blue Grill, an underwater city as busy as the Human world at the peak of the Golden Age. The chapter concludes as Komatsu’s group heads to the Black Triangle.

Fairy Tail 439

Erza is taken by Mest to the chamber where Makarov brought Gildartz before, to show the secret of Fairy Tail, Lumen Histoire. She asks why only she can go, Mest saying it’s because she’s the 7th Guild Master and that this is top secret.

Natsu, Lucy, Gray, Happy and Charle all come crashing in through the door, having followed Erza and Mest secretly.

Everyone is shocked to see that it’s Mavis’ body encased in crystal as was revealed a while ago. But Mest says he doesn’t know exactly what it is, but that it has vital significance to the guild.

As the group voices their confusion, Mest starts to explain by projecting his memories into their minds. 9 years ago, Makarov tasked Mest with becoming the mole in the Magic Council, figuring out any information they had concerning the West Continent.

Mest asks why, but Makarov insists that all he needs to know is that it’s for the sake of Fairy Tail. Things progress, Mest eventually getting to the point that he has practically forgotten he was part of the guild, even thinking he should try to be a spy for them, which led to his participation in the S Rank Wars, as what amounted to a double agent, somewhat.

After Mest rejoins the guild, we’re told that Makarov planned to disband Fairy Tail after compiling all the data and doing his own research. Alvarez, a kingdom in the West Continent, is growing in strength after a failed invasion of Ishgar years ago.

The reason they were unsuccessful was because they were stopped by Etherion. Knowing that both that, and Face, the major two deterrents, are now unusable, Makarov says they cannot hope to face their greater numbers, Alvarez having 700+ guilds compared to 500 legitimate guilds in Ishgar. And those guilds in Alvarez are all united as one kingdom, serving as a singular unit by comparison to Fairy Tail’s meager numbers and power.

Makarov says he’ll go to negotiate, saying that Lumen Histoire is a deterrent of sorts as well in threats. But he, above all, wants to protect Fairy Tail from Alvarez’s watch, keeping them out of the spotlight and not being targeted in any way.

The chapter ends as Mest tells Makarov he’s being too reckless, but the former Guild Master says that’s what it means to be a parent, to take all this risk and shoulder it on their own.
