Seven Deadly Sins 72
Hauser recognizes King from the Fighting Festival
tournament, King demanding to know who did this to Diane, almost lashing out at
Hauser and Guira, but Diane stops him, saying they protected her.
King futilely punches Hauser, insisting that he didn’t protect
her well enough. Hauser apologizes, thinking he could’ve done more if he’d
acted sooner, King ignoring him and punching him more until his knuckles are
bleeding. He mourns his inability to protect those close to him, reflecting on
his sister’s death.
Helbram brings this up as well as an incident 700 years ago,
emphasizing that now Diane will die because of him, attacking him. King blasts
him away with Chastiefol before he makes contact. He attacks from behind,
Helbram trying to counterattack, but King changes the weapon’s form and
succeeds in landing a solid hit. Helbram has used another enchantment,
protecting himself with a tough defense. The spear manages to almost pierce it,
changing form to push Helbram back again as King appears behind him.
The group is amazed at his power, Helbram saying King should
return to his original form. King says he’ll fulfill the promise he made to
Helbram 700 years ago.
Helbram changes form, revealing he’s a fairy as well. King
couldn’t recognize him, but now that he has a closer look, he understands.
Helbram attacks with a giant tentacle from the ground as the chapter ends on
Guira saying the power is like a Great Holy Knight’s.
Helbram being a fairy never occurred to me, though in
hindsight, it makes sense if fairies in this universe are exceptionally
talented at magic.
Magi 220
The chapter starts with Solomon fighting the Orthodoxy
leader and gaining the advantage, striking him from behind. He is ready to kill
him if need be, demanding he surrender. But the Orthodoxy leader thinks Solomon
won’t be able to fight for much longer. Sheba is still in shock that Solmono is
David’s son.
Solomon says that the Orthodoxy’s beliefs are twisted to
benefit humans, that the other species aren’t inferior. The Orthodoxy leader
activates a special barrier, commanding the other ships to fire on the
flagship. Ugo explains to Sheba that it’s an isolation barrier, blocking all
magic, the leader planning to take Solomon down with him.
But the ships are destroyed and we see what looks like Amon,
Agares and Astaroth. But it’s actually the Hermit, Manticore and Gorgon tribes’
leaders, bringing their support to Solomon. The Orthodoxy is stunned that the
other species can use magic, a flashback showing that Solomon gave the leaders
a Divine Staff that was altered through Ugo’s theories that allows the other
species’ leaders to become magicians, specialized in a particular magic.
The leaders attack, the Orthodoxy army retreating as Solomon
explains that the species will be able to create larger isolation barriers to
protect themselves from the Orthodoxy with the Divine Staves.
Sheba remembers Solomon telling the Orthodoxy that their
plan is to create a utopia where all the species will live together equally:
but the leader insists it’s impossible, since humans were the only ones given
power by Ill Irah, the ability to use magic.
In the present, Agares brings this up, thinking the other
species are failures in some sense or abandoned by God, since they cannot use
magic on their own. Solomon says that’s wrong, since Ill Irah was trying to
bring peace through his power. He also observes that Manticores are amazing
even without magic, sufficiently equal to humans in making societies and tools.
But the thing that connects all species, he says, is love:
being able to understand others and be intertwined with people you care about,
creating strong bonds of friendship and family. The goal of Alma Toran is to
live happily together with everyone, this shared ideal at the core of it. They
will be able to live their lives as they wish, understanding that others will
differ in some ways, but that they share the same capacities for suffering and
happiness.
The chapter ends as Sheba is in awe of Solomon’s charisma,
able to bring these people together and inspire them. Next time we’ll jump
forward a bit, though this arc seems far from over.
World Trigger 54
Replica explains the way to tell if the invading Neighbors
are from Kion or Aftokrator. The ones from Aftokrator will have horns, which
are, in reality, Trion receptors. They were a product of experimentation to
implant Triggers into the bodies of children, so that they become stronger than
normal. They also can enhance Black Trigger compatibility, so with black horns,
they have Black Triggers.
The groups confront the Neighbors, only one of them having a
Black Trigger, thankfully, but even regular Horned Neighbors have exceptional
power according to Replica. One of them attacks some B rank members, another
squad coming to support them, but they’re blown away in one shot.
The Neighbor reveals a new Trigger attached to his arm with
rapid fire capacity. The others run away, only one left, but another B rank
squad offers covering fire with Snipers. But the Neighbor blocked them and
unveils another aspect of his Trigger, firing homing lasers that take out all
the targets he designated, at least 6 Trigger users defeated already.
The chapter ends on the seemingly hopeless and one sided
fight, the Neighbor preparing to attack again.
Naruto 671
Hagoromo notes that Naruto has already perceived
Ashura’s chakra, so he deduces Naruto’s also figured out who has Indra’s
chakra. Naruto affirms this, saying it’s Sasuke. We flashback to after the Five
Kage Summit, the others asking why Naruto didn’t defeat Sasuke then, since he
was weakened by his fight with Danzou. Naruto responds he couldn’t, since he
felt something in Sasuke that made him uneasy.
Naruto asks who the previous inheritors of the chakra were,
Hagoromo saying they were Hashirama for Ashura and Madara for Indra. Madara
changed things a bit by mixing the two chakras together by taking some of
Hashirama’s power, which enabled him to unlock the power of Hagoromo, the
Rinnegan. The tablet which held the secrets relating to the various doujutsu
was left by Indra and his successors, thinking this might happen eventually.
Hagoromo reflects that his ninshuu was meant to connect
people and that having too much power can corrupt someone, his mother Kaguya
the best example, since she had so much power amassed at once. Madara is
becoming like her, since he’s gained the power of the Ten Tails, close to
Hagoromo’s power.
He explains that the Infinite Tsukyomi will not only put
people into an illusion, but connect them all to the God Tree as slaves,
meaning that all chakra in the world will return to the God Tree and a new
fruit will bloom, meaning Madara would become as powerful as Kaguya.
Hagoromo notes that Naruto is different and he may be able
to change things and stop people from thinking so much like Indra: that power
is the only source of change and influence in this world. Naruto thanks him,
but Hagoromo thinks he was naïve to imagine people would use the Bijuu for
peace: instead, like ninjutsu, they used what he left behind to wage war and
amass more power. But Naruto says he was right to do it, even if things went
wrong.
The Bijuu appear, explaining how Obito got the two parts
that Naruto didn’t have, the Ichibi and Hachibi, so now Naruto almost possesses
the Ten Tails power himself. The time has come, according to Hagoromo and the
Tailed Beasts, for Naruto, the child of prophecy, to change the world.
Hagoromo asks Naruto what he intends to do after he defeats
Madara. Naruto responds that he’s not like Ashura, since he’s much younger, but
he does see the value of friends and he wants to protect everyone. Hagoromo
confirms this, Sasuke also in his own inner world as well and approached by
Hagoromo’s chakra. The two affirm the same goal and Naruto says that they can
change things, even if they aren’t blood related. Hagoromo then gives them his
power, leaving everything to them in order to change the world.
The chapter ends as Hagoromo passes on the power and Gai says
he must use his final technique, the Night Moth…or Night Guy, the translation
varies.
One Piece 743
We see Sugar unconscious and the toys all return to their
human forms. Trebol reports this to Doflamingo and he’s understandably enraged,
since it means all the “slaves” they’ve created are all free of the Hobby Hobby
Fruit’s contract.
Families are reunited, one becomes a gorilla, Marines, world
leaders, and other wild beasts have all returned to their original forms,
creating chaos in Dressrosa.
We return to Zoro fighting Pica briefly, but focus back on
Usopp having saved everyone, the Tontatta so grateful they’re crying at the
injuries he took to ensure their mission was a success. He awakens, revealing
this was his plan all along, leaving everything else to his comrades.
Dressrosa is in a huge panic, various people targeting
Doflamingo and revealing his treachery. Kyros, now human, rushes at Doflamingo,
Violet revealing to Luffy the secret behind the toys. She’s overcome with
emotion at Rebecca’s father having stayed by her side all these years even
though she didn’t know his true identity.
Kyros rushes at Doflamingo, apologizing to King Riku after
all these years of making him wait for the kingdom to be saved. He seemingly
chops of Doflamingo’s head, the others thinking he’s dead.
Back at the colosseum, Rebecca remembers her father and Sabo
destroys the entire arena with one huge attack, seemingly intending to go to
the basement as the chapter ends on that destruction.
Toriko 272
Tentacles erupt from the ground near the house and the
ground shakes. A giant Octopusuika (Octopus and Watermelon in Japanese
combined) comes out.
Chichi explains that this will be their tent as they enter
Gourmet World, since it’s known as the Safety Monster. It creates a safe zone
and hides itself, which is how the house was able to be hidden outside the Gourmet
World. It’s a low level compared to most of the beasts, but it’ll work for them
sleeping near the entrance.
The group is told by Chichi to go to the harbor, where
everyone’s waiting for them, while he’s going to a mixer with female rhinoceros
beetles. He’ll go into Gourmet World later through a different route. Coco
thanks him for all his advice, Chichi advising them to use their appetite as a
compass to get through Gourmet World. He gives them something else, which we
don’t know what it is yet as the scene shifts.
The harbor Chichi referred to is the one Toriko and Komatsu
left from when they went to get the Rainbow Fruit back near the beginning of
the series. Rin sees Toriko off, the two of them still preparing their wedding.
Mansam gives them the Capture Level Measuring devices and explains that
Toriko’s group will leave behind an aura that indicates they’ve conquered an
area, so wild beasts won’t get near there as often. The idea is to use that
aura to create a route for sending the Gourmet World ingredients through and
once it’s stabilized, weaker people can go through there as well.
Komatsu gets some grindstone clothes from Melk the Second,
the others being sent off by people we’ve barely seen, like Ponkochi, who
reminds Sani about copying his music records.
Yun, Komatsu’s Wall Penguin, leaves with them, the group leaving
with the Octosuika to the third entrance to Gourmet World, the Harbor of Evil
Spirits as the chapter ends.
Bleach 575
The chapter begins with Kenpachi slashing away the pillars
Gremmy throws at him.
Meanwhile, Askin is looking through binoculars, amazed at
Kenpachi fighting on par with Gremmy.
The bearded Stern Ritter with the staff says he should just beat
Kenpachi down. Askin leaves, saying he doesn’t want to be anywhere near the
destruction Gremmy will wreak on the area. He also says that while he
respects him, he’d feel great if Gremmy was unable to do anything for once. Another interpretation would be that Askin
thinks that being weak is sometimes better than having power.
Kenpachi orders Yachiru to find Kotetsu, who he can still
feel somewhere, and get her arm fixed.
Gremmy is impressed Kenpachi figured out that his power was
nullified while he was fighting with Kenpachi, Kenpachi thinking it was
obvious. He wants to know if Gremmy can be even stronger, since he prides
himself on being the strongest Quincy. Kenpachi says Gremmy should focus on him
if he wants this to really be a true fight.
Gremmy moves the stone like tentacles to strike at Kenpachi,
who slashes them away. He’s astonished that Kenpachi says he’ll defeat him,
since no one opposed him before this. He was convinced he was the strongest and
everyone treated him as such, so he never had the idea of proving his power.
But now he has this overwhelming desire to defeat Kenpachi. He summons a
mass of guns and throws missiles as Kenpachi, but they either don’t affect him
or he cuts the missiles in half.
The chapter ends as Gremmy actually pulls up his hands to
defend himself, which Kenpachi notes is a good thing, since it means this fight
finally got serious.
Fairy Tail 379
Franmalth is overjoyed, thinking Face has activated, but
Natsu observes his magic is unaffected. Lucy confirms this as well, Franmalth
despondent at this turn of events. But he then becomes enraged, lashing out at
Natsu and the others, prepared to suck out all their souls. He then utilizes
Hades magic, the Amaterasu incantations, an explosion resulting from it.
Meanwhile, Erza and Kyouka’s fight is broken off as Kyouka
retreats, realizing that Face has failed to activate. Kyouka leaves Minerva to
finish off Erza, Minerva more than happy to fight her old rival.
Kyouka thinks there was no way to finish this off,
concluding E.N.D. was somehow affected in the chaos.
Franmalth begins to drain Natsu’s soul, the others defeated
handily as well, almost unable to move. Natsu resists, encouraging Lucy and
Happy as well. They’re told to think of the things most important to them.
Natsu of Igneel, Lucy of her Celestial Spirits and the guild and Happy of
Charle and fish. Lucy, thinking that she doesn’t want her spirits to suffer,
breaks her contract with Taurus, Franmalth also getting sucked into the
Celestial World. He ejects Taurus at the last minute, stopping the process. She
does the same with Aries, even tricking Franmalth into thinking Natsu was a
Celestial Spirit.
Natsu attacks again, seemingly doing little damage. But then
he picks up a huge boulder, throwing it at Franmalth, who can’t absorb a soul
from it. He’s crushed, defeated for good, the souls he absorbed flying out of
him.
The chapter ends as Hades, in soul form, tells them that
Tartaros was never trying to activate Face as their main goal. He tells them to
tell Makarov he will release the light as he leaves them.
