Disclaimer: Scanlations and official sources both
have a place in the community, but buy official manga volumes to support the
author. If you can, also subscribe to Crunchyroll and/or Shonen Jump through
Viz Media to read chapters nearly simultaneous with Japan. Most of the series
covered can be found through legal means, so please encourage the industry that
gives us what we love
Chainsaw Man has an abrupt ending this month in the 2nd issue of 2021 (because Shounen Jump and other magazines start their calendar for the next year in December of the previous year). There supposedly are plans to start the next arc in Jump+, which was where the author’s prior work, Fire Punch, was serialized, so it probably isn’t over. Volume 2 is available recently and the rest of the volumes will be released every few months
We Never Learn also ended, having ran over 3 years, which is impressive for any successful series
If you want more Promised Neverland content, another bonus chapter was released in early December, giving background for Krone
World Trigger 204
Osamu, Chika and Yuma are all put into one of the 11 teams, the 3rd pool of candidates the only one left, which has Hyuse in it, no one in Tamakoma 2 a captain, unfortunately.
Build King 4-6
Tonkachi and Renga, our leads, along with Nana, senior student of master carpenter Shovel, arrive at the continent, learning more about how the economy works, with building materials salvaged and sold for a profit. But they also encounter House Bandits, people (much bigger than normal people) that disguise themselves with “house armor” and try to steal houses, Tonkachi beating them up. The boss of the bandits, a girl, asks for their help, which will likely play into Nana’s request that the two get their building licenses.
Cork, the “boss” of the House Bandits, is an architectural designer, her father actually in charge of the group. She goes with Tonkachi and Renga on the House Beast, asking them to help renovate her house at Cape Batt, an Upside Down Castle that’s existed for 10000 years, in exchange for information about the House Beast, her father having some knowledge.
After the trio arrives at the area, which is built on the bones and remains of a giant dragon (the house basically its single tooth, a reference to Toriko’s Derous) Tonkachi starts trying to demolish an area Cork permits him to try at, though it seems too tough. We also learn that Shovel is well known with Cork’s father and the world over as one of the best Master Builders.
Dr. Stone 177-179
Senkuu sends a map made by Chelsea (via complicated Morse code fax) to find a
watchmaker nearby that Ryusui is aware of. This technician, Joel, investigates
the cracked Medusa device and discovers it appears to be advanced beyond 21st
century technology. And after replacing the battery, the device reactivates
(thankfully in a limited range) and petrifies him
Joel is revived, the group moving forward while the Corn City team continues investigating their Medusa device further. After learning more about the weather conditions post petrification, the rain forest is just beyond the Andes mountains, though the trek is difficult, the motorcycles only getting so far even when balancing the weights of each team of 3. And Senkuu plans to repurpose the materials for a ropeway
The group struggles briefly with a concern that Hyouga may betray them and go with Xeno, but he proves he’s trustworthy when Kohaku goes to save Suika when she fall midway between the cliffs and helps her up. The group then arrives at the summit, seeing the rainforest ahead of them
We Never Learn 185-187 (END)
Mafuyu admits her feelings after taking Nariyuki to an amusement park under the suggestions of her friends and sister. Nariyuki admits that even her awkwardness is something he likes, the arc nearly complete
The happy couple is married at the church (shown in an anime OVA, I believe?) and starts their new life together, awkwardness and all. Another chapter is planned, possibly more, so it’s not quite over yet?
The final chapter has it being left uncertain, especially when many girls beyond our main 5 touch Nariyuki at the festival fireworks. And the various possibilities are left open, the We Never Learn series ending with establishing that there’s a multiverse out there, so anything could be possible, seemingly.
My Hero Academia 293-295
Lemillion, restored by Eri’s Rewind Quirk, fights alongside Nejire and others, Bakugou telling Best Jeanist, who mentored him in an internship, his bizarre new Hero name. Meanwhile, Deku tries to assist Shoto against Touya, even telling the older Todoroki that he isn’t his father anymore than his brother was. And Endeavor knocks out Gigantomachia, the sedative finally taking effect
The Noumu move to attack the Heroes, but as Best Jeanist restrains the Meta Liberation Army, Compress manages to free himself, revealing he is the great great grandson of Oji Harima, a noble thief from the early days of Quirks, intending to sacrifice himself if necessary for Shigaraki to achieve his goals.
Shigaraki is taken over by All For One, his anger after Spinner puts the remains of his last hand from his family on his head seemingly enabling the original holder to regain more control of his student. The heroes struggle, Deku knocked back as All For One and the other villains escape.
Fire Force 245-247
Arthur and Dragon clash, the new Excalibur impressing the White Clad with its sharpness, and the fight seems more balanced this time around, though uncertain as to who will win
Vulcan’s group enters into Amaterasu, attacked by Giovanni, who reveals more about the Evangelist’s plans, and how Pi, once unsolvable, is now able to be solved due to the Cataclysm that affected the world 250 years ago. And furthermore, the sun itself was previously a planet, supposedly, and the earth at present will follow the same cycle, a desire for death implanted by the Evangelist into the human psyche
Giovanni reveals how his family kept an eye on Vulcan’s family; both involved in the creation of Amaterasu and both seemingly knowing the plan to use it as an object for destruction. Vulcan utilizes a device that takes Lisa’s magnetic pyrokinetic power and disrupts Giovanni’s connection with the bugs that compose most of his body, revealing his true form to be much weaker and smaller
One Piece 998-999
The Tobi Roppo all clash with the Straw Hats, revealing the others all have Ancient Zoans, such as Black Maria’s ancient bird eating spider model, Who’s Who a saber toothed tiger and Sasaki a Triceratops. Marco offers to take Zoro and Brooke to the roof, while Chopper continues to make antibodies with the phoenix fire assisting.
We see a flashback with Ace and Yamato clashing on Onigashima, Ace telling Yamato about all the people that are trying to make a name for themselves. Marco takes Zoro up, but runs into Queen and King, while Tama and Momonosuke learn from Nami and Yamato respectively about Luffy’s connection to Ace and Ace’s father. And Big Mom reveals that she gave Kaidou an ancient Fish Zoan Devil Fruit, the two still planning to gain the One Piece
Black Clover 274-276
The Clover Kingdom force arrives in the Spade Kingdom through Nacht’s magic, assisted by Sally, Valtos and Rades, as well as Ralph. The resistance, which Nacht was associated with in his secret mission, provides a distraction, Mereoleona appearing suddenly to fight against the equally unexpected Demon God that Morris summons to destroy the castle town under Zenon’s orders.
Mereoleona utilizes a new technique, enveloping herself in flames and strengthening her attacks to devastate the Demon God. Meanwhile, Nacht has the groups split into 3 teams to take down the Dark Triad members and stop the ritual of Advent from being completed.
Yuno and Langris face Zenon and the spatial mage from the Golden Dawn fails to overcome the power of Zenon’s spatial magic that dominates the mana in its area of effect. But Yuno manages to utilize Spirit Dive and has acquired a new power, Boreas, his status of being loved by mana allowing him to resist Zenon’s spatial mana control and land a blow
