Weekly Shounen Jump will have 6 new series premiering from next week to mid March, and I'll at least make commentary on each of their first chapters. No series have been cancelled yet, to my knowledge, though with them introducing 6 new series, 2 of them by previously serialized authors of renown, specifically the co writer of Eyeshield 21 and Kuroko no Basket's author
Black Clover 96
Ladros begs Asta to take out the
sword, claiming he’ll never hurt anyone again, but Asta refuses, saying he can’t
afford to be careless with him. The Diamond Kingdom mage insists that he’ll die
if he doesn’t take the blade from his chest
Asta doesn’t believe him, Ladros managing
to use the last fumes of his magic to blast himself away from Asta’s blow to
knock him out. He then tears the sword out with enhancement magic, still
possessing enough power to utilize a few more attacks.
Mars and Fana are Ladros’ new targets,
the mage grabbing Fana and threatening to kill Mars if she doesn’t use her
Salamander magic, though Fana seems to not remember using such magic.
As Ladros blasts Mars, Fana manages
to unleash the magic with her emotions overflowing, Ladros starting to absorb
it. He thinks it’s too much, but he somehow consumes it, his form emanating the
flames, Fana unconscious before him.
Asta tries to attack, but Ladros
pierces a hole in his shoulder with the flame magic, unable to be dodged even
by Asta.
Ladros rejoices in his new power,
planning to annihilate everyone and take over the Diamond Kingdom. His first
goal is eliminating Asta, blasting him from a distance until he’s dead.
The Witch Queen observes Asta,
thinking that he still hasn’t utilized his full potential, being the descendant
of someone important (possibly the Demon King that the Wizard King defeated?).
She utilizes her magic, the chapter
ending as we see Asta recovering as his arm is engulfed in shadowy magic
Boku no Hero Academia 125
Overhaul is introduced to Shigaraki,
the head of the Villain Alliance recognizing Overhaul as one of the leaders of
the Eightfold Cleansers. They were a group of villains that existed before
Heroes used their Quirks to save the citizens and most of them were eliminated
by All Might.
But the concern for Overhaul isn’t
All Might’s retirement, but All for One, since he was the lynchpin, the origin
of Villains and now he’s been dethroned, leaving the highest seat open.
Shigaraki insists that he will
change this world, but Overhaul wonders if he really has a plan beyond
expanding his forces. He thinks Shigaraki’s playing with fire here and doesn’t
know how to really control the limited numbers he has now, so further increasing
his alliance may just backfire on him.
The others tell him to go home,
Magnee attacking him. He even says that he did this so he could be free, not to
serve under someone like Overhaul.
But as Magnee attacks Overhaul, he
activates his own Quirk and seemingly blasts off the Magnet Villain’s top half,
killing him.
Mr. Compress moves to attack as
well, but his Quirk doesn’t work and his left arm is blown off by Overhaul in
retaliation.
Overhaul’s own men burst in, one of
them shielding Overhaul from Shigaraki’s attack and being killed.
The Eightfold Cleansers group
retreats, telling the Villain Alliance to think about Overhaul’s offer and
answer soon, before things get ugly.
The chapter ends as we see All Might
has called Mirio and Deku to talk about something.
Seven Deadly Sins 204
As the Ten Commandments are moving
towards the Fairy King’s Forest, King and Diane wonder if this is the true
trial.
Meliodas approaches them, saying
that he’s going to try and talk with the Ten Commandments. King thinks it’s a
suicide mission, since he betrayed them, but Meliodas insists, since if this
war continues, all of the clans will be wiped out.
Diane and King decide to go with
Meliodas to help if the Ten Commandments attack, Rou volunteering to protect
the Fairy King’s forest in their stead.
The Ten Commandments have stopped
abruptly, being approached by Elizabeth, which Monspiet recognizes as something
important for the Goddess Clan.
Elizabeth asks why they’re here,
Monspiet explaining that they sensed a great amount of energy that only Demons
can sense, Elizabeth thinking that Rueduciel has captured Demons to draw them
as bait.
She begs them to stop, Derriere not
trusting her. But Elizabeth insists that she wants this war to end, Fraudrin
remembering that the Demons who retreated were affected by Elizabeth, her eyes
convincing them to give up
Elizabeth says she’ll talk to
Rueduciel and if he refuses, she’ll find some way. Derriere agrees, but asks
that she bring Meliodas, which Elizabeth refuses, even saying she’ll fight all
of the Ten Commandments.
But it turns out that Rueduciel
expected Elizabeth to do this, buying them enough time to start their plan,
infuriating Derriere, who thinks Elizabeth tricked them.
Rueduciel unveils a giant Ark,
filled with bodies of Demons, which Merascylla notes are civilians, one of whom
is Derriere’s sister.
The Archangel kills them, the Ten
Commandments ready to attack as 2 more of the 4 Archangels arrive.
The chapter concludes as the two
major armies start their conflict in earnest, the climax of the flashback
beginning next time.
Magi 335
Aladdin’s group enters the Sanctuary,
the appearance vastly different from when Aladdin was in it with Ugo years ago
Everything is twisted and inverted,
like an M.C. Escher painting.
But what shocks everyone the most
are Sinbad’s 7 Djinns appearing before them. They say in order to stop Sinbad,
they must conquer the 7 Dungeons, 7 different parts of Sinbad
Sinbad appears before them, already
having started his plans. But he will give them the chance to stop him because
he wants to finish things with Alibaba, the King Candidate of Aladdin
manifesting his Djinn Equip to fight against Sinbad
The group is impressed at how
arrogant Sinbad is, since he’d be able to defeat them anytime he wants to.
They’re approached by Arba, who’s
supposed to guide them through the 7 Dungeons, Judal still not trusting her
entirely.
As the group enters the first
Dungeon, they’re greeted by Sinbad when he conquered the Baal dungeon, the
chapter ending on this revelation of the 7 Dungeons truly being 7 different
people as the Djinns said previously.
One Piece 854
Jinbe and Nami are fleeing from
their pursuers, Nami attacking a group behind them. But it turns out to be
Chopper’s group, trying to help them.
They’re pulled into the Mirror
World, Brulee furious at Jinbe’s betrayal, though she comments that he was
apparently too cowardly and didn’t spin the roulette, Jinbe saying that he didn’t
trust it.
Pedro explains that one of his
allies spun it and had his life taken away, Brulee saying that Big Mom fully
welcomes anyone, but won’t let them leave without putting their lives at risk.
The group heads out to find Luffy,
Sanji and Brook
Meanwhile, we find that Prometheus,
Zeus and Napoleon were wounded deeper than they thought by Brook, Big Mom
complimenting him on his strength. Instead of putting him in prison, Big Mom
decides to hold onto the skeleton.
Pudding explains that she kept Reiju
out of the loop after she shot her for snooping around and manipulated her
memory.
Big Mom says she should be careful, Pudding
saying that she confirmed the strength of the Candy Jacket guns with her attack
on Reiju. The signal for killing the rest of Germa 66 will be Pudding shooting
Sanji after he pulls up her veil. Then the rest of the family will be slaughtered,
the celebration afterwards fitting Big Mom’s appetite and sweet tooth
Meanwhile, the guards at Sanji’s
room think he’s asleep, though it’s actually one of his retainers.
The rest of Big Mom’s crew tries to
confirm the status of the intruders, thinking Chopper and Carrot, as well as
Pedro, are either dead or captured.
The only ones left to confirm are
Luffy and Nami, though Opera insists that he just tortured them and then burned
the book to kill them, though it’s odd that Opera is here when Jinbe beat him
recently. It turns out Opera is lying to cover his tracks, since Big Mom would
kill him otherwise. So with all the intruders confirmed captured or dead, they
begin preparations for the wedding anew.
The chapter concludes as Sanji thinks
he can’t be attached to his old crew, but attacks Bobbin, who finds him and
picks up the food in the basket, the favorites of Luffy and the others. He
flees from the soldiers, his mind still uncertain of what to do; either he
sacrifices himself or saves his crew.
Fairy Tail 519
Erza, engulfed in light, crashes into the meteor and
smashes it into pieces, scattering them across the continent.
Still flying through the air, Erza aims herself to attack
Eileen, who says she can’t hope to pierce her dragon scales.
Wendy enchants Erza’s blade with Dragon Slayer
Magic, Erza slashing Eileen down, reverting her to her human form.
But as Erza lies on the ground, unable to move after
that attack, Eileen, still able to stand, takes Erza’s blade and prepares to
kill her.
Eileen remembers when Erza was born and was ready to
enchant herself onto her child. However when she saw the baby smile, she
hesitated and couldn’t do it.
Erza, in spite of Eileen stabbing her through the
chest, head butts her mother, knocking her away. Afterwards, she tries to find
her sword, but Eileen has grabbed it.
But, to her shock, Eileen stabs herself with the
blade, ending the battle by saying that in spite of how powerful she was, she
couldn’t bring herself to kill her own daughter. She was too cute and Eileen
left her, the resolve to kill her gone, replaced for a moment by maternal love.
The chapter ends as Eileen says that Erza should
remember that she did love her in spite of abandoning Erza as a baby, her last
words leaving an impact on Erza.
