Disclaimer: Scanlations and official sources both have a place in the community, but buy official manga volumes to support the author. If you can, also subscribe to Crunchyroll and/or Shonen Jump through Viz Media to read chapters nearly simultaneous with Japan. Most, if not all, of the series covered can be found through legal means, so please encourage the industry that gives us what we love

Fabricant 100 ended right at the beginning of September’s issues, unfortunately. 36 chapters is within average nowadays, like Yui Kamio Lets Loose from a few years ago

Tenmaku Cinema concluded as well, just not catching audiences, 20+ chapters a bit lower

Do Retry ended at 19 chapters, which is more like some series several years ago, a few lasting barely 17 chapters, including Golem Hearts, a personal favorite in the vein of Fabricant 100

This was a big month for endings, because Ayakashi Triangle, which started in mid 2020, has wrapped up at under 150 chapters, right as the anime is concluding (timely, given there was a delay in the last 6 episodes releasing)

3 new series are coming out, 1 filling in Black Clover’s slot and 2 likely taking the place of Fabricant 100 and Tenmaku Cinema, though Do Retry also concluded, so that’s 4 slots open. Rumors are that Burn the Witch may come back for a brief run or even Hunter X Hunter

Mama Yuuyuu by Yoshihiko Hayashi is set in a world 18 years after a war between humans and demons. The next hero, Corleo, chosen when still a baby, is unsure of what to do now that the world is at relative peace, his adoptive mother, Mamama, the new demon lord. A hero from another world appears, claiming the demon lord he failed to kill will arrive in their world soon. Suspicions about rifts in time-space are confirmed, the outside hero planning to kill his demon lord that arrived and Corleo, but the reluctant hero’s bravery in the face of death inspires Evan to heal the near dead hero by offering his life (much like Corleo’s predecessor sacrificed himself to stop the prior demon lord)

Kagurabachi by Takeru Hokazono is set in an alternate universe, our lead Chihiro, aiming to be a swordsmith like his father, whose blades helped in the great war against sorcerers who use dangerous magic. It’s revealed that his father’s swords were special because he imbued them with sorcery and Chihiro seeks revenge for his father’s death with the final sword he made

Two On Ice by Elck Itsumo tells the story of Hayuma, inspired by a girl figure skater his age as a child. He tried to get into figure skating as well, but she disappeared from the news around 5th grade. He finds her again in 9th grade at a local rink and discovers she quit singles and wants to do pair figure skating, Hayuma agreeing to a trial period with Kisara

World Trigger 236

We flashback to Ninomiya’s squad being rejected for the away mission years ago: he’s told that Hatohara being a non combatant would only make things more risky. After saying that they’ll get to the top of A rank, Ninomiya asks Izumi for help, talking to his squad about the aspiration, since being the strongest would mean they can’t be associated as a risk to the mission. After her kidnapping by the Neighbors, the cover story is that she leaked classified info, Ninomiya’s squad demoted to B rank for a season.

And we learn why Kageura’s squad was demoted, Kageura attacking Netsuki out of anger for trying to soften the blow on a request to be a PR team and call out to Hatohara. In the present, Ninomiya reminds Yuzuru that he wants to learn Hatohara’s reasons for leaving, which is why he wants to go on the away mission

Ice Head Gill 11-14

King Ond flashes back, revealing that Dreki is actually his younger brother, the elder son given the position of king when their father passed away unexpectedly. When Mjoine, his advisor, pushed him to assassinate Gill, he seemed to consider it (though events went differently when the prince was killed). In the present, a tree from the Troll Forest erupts into black flame. Gill, Greatest and Sliz are tasked with taking down the liches. But Sana is ignored, Gill asking that he be permitted to eat with the king if he brings back results, the group heading to the Troll Forest

The group enters the Troll Forest, Grea explaining that his brother served Dreki, but was taken over by a lich after the attack on the kingdom, 3 of the 7 killed in battle before. After discovering the king troll’s hands guarding the others, Gill and others fight the liches that attack, one of the troll children recognizing him via his troll nanny’s tales. And a member of the Niohoggr Scales, Dreki’s 7 knights, appears to fight, Jumir Giantsarm

Jumir’s relic, Gleipnir, devastates the trolls as they try to fight back and Jumir summons more liches after slaughtering even children. With the Book of Wisdom and the Heart Tree both in danger, Grea splits off from Gill, Sana and 3 others we saw before. Gill meets up with his troll nanny Idunn, saving her from lich soldiers. But we learn Idunn is the Book of Wisdom, Jumir intending to kill her to make it so no one knows of the true history

The fight continues, Jumir slaughtering the trolls, including Idunn (who flashes back to training Gill, encouraging the child to not just be kind, but seek to protect people), as well as many of the soldiers, who are unaware of how powerful he truly is and the unpredictable nature of his relic. Thankfully Sana, having gotten Gill out of danger and losing an arm, reveals from Idunn’s final words that the brooch itself has the relic, a crystal that fuses with Gill, allowing him to manifest water, which freezes, Gill instinctively forming an axe to fight

Nue’s Exorcist 16-19

Shiroha and Gakuro both refuse to give up, but Shiroha becomes frustrated at Gakuro trying to reach out to her with kindness and persistence. She tries to knock him away, refusing to accept his compassion, thinking he has more than she’s ever had, Nue the one consolation prize she desires. But Gakuro turns the tables, even catching her as she falls, declared the winner

Gakuro wakes up after the battle, worried about Shiroha, Nue echoing the sentiment. Since Shiroha’s Soul Gear is rigged to kill her from an order, Nue shifts control to her, Shiroha effectively freed from her family’s abuse. Nue has a celebration that night, insisting Shiroha and Gakuro stay here so she can protect them. As Gakuro and Shiroha continue to bond, Shiroha coming out of her shell slightly, we see her teacher has been tasked to eliminate her

Shiroha meets her master, Moro, at the HQ, and then wakes up, that scene actually a recollection. Nue offers her a bath and the two speak, Shiroha confiding how she’s unclear what to do now, feeling like she can’t make a good choice regardless. Nue says she’s happy to have met her and will protect her. As they have breakfast, we see the barrier is broken, Moro arriving on the scene

Moroyoki is revealed to be extremely capable, seen as the Fujino family’s #2. He plans to outlast Nue’s Hollow Weapon time limit and unleashes a shikigami with a summoning pin, much more advanced than Shiroha’s summoning sigils, breaking the Hollow Weapon in the process

Fabricant 100 36 (END)

No. 100 asks No. 99 if he still wants to find humans and when he affirms, she immolates herself, destroying them both while still insisting she’s doing it for herself. Ultimately, what inspired the Fabricants was the good nature of the people, since the doctor wanted them to be good people like those on the island. Ashibi grows up, Mortsafe is broken up and the group celebrates his 18th birthday with the series’ conclusion

I feel like the issue was more the author focusing so much on the interpersonal aspects and not building up the battle system as much, especially with the Sparks as well as ideal humans like Ashibi’s family with other enhancements, like possibly a family that has enhanced vision with a branch family (kind of like the Hyuuga in Naruto), since Luca and Hugo’s vision ability was distinct from the brother/sister pair

4 Knights of the Apocalypse 119-122

Percival and Mortlach begin a battle via Mortlach’s Duelist magic, which limits them to a separate dimension, only able to fight physically. Rosebank uses Chaos Magic to fuse 6 Demons together and Lancelot clashes with Tomintoul, who abandons his armor, revealing he is Nanashi, a character from Seven Deadly Sins who assisted Arthur in the past

Mortlach explains his past, Ironside’s brother in law through the mother of Diodora, who has an illness that likely also killed his mother, the Demon King’s poison causing the malady. Meaning he’s technically Percival’s uncle and Diodora his brother (half brother?). Percival pleads for a peaceful resolution, but Mortlach refuses and unleashes his most powerful attack, Thousand Cross

Outside of Mortlach’s dimension, we see the other Chaos Knights posing a threat to Anne, Nasiens and Donny, while Tristan, Isolde and Chion struggle to fight the chimera demon. Anne utilizes her magic to weaken the Chaos Knights after a loaded question, but even she’s beaten by the demon, leaving only Gawain to stand against the monster

Tristan is told in his mind by the demons to call on Zeldris, but he persists in trying to fight on his own, beaten down further. Nasiens is petrified by the Chaos Knight that also stonified Donny. But Gawain reveals that she has a secondary ability besides the magic from her heritage on one side (Merlin?), bulking up and fighting alongside Tristan, uppercutting the demon with an attack referencing Nakaba-sensei’s first major work, Rising Impact

My Hero Academia 399-401

All Might’s fight with All For One reaches a dangerous point, All For One utilizing more of his power, yet is still conserving it. Meanwhile, Aoyama and Hagakure defeat a Villain with their Quirk combination (which I think we’d seen before), All Might utilizing his imitation of it against All For One as well

We briefly see Aoyama and Hagakure exchanging words, Aoyama planning to leave U.A. after this fight. As All Might is pushing his limits more and more, All For One is still holding on, but is paralyzed by none other than Stain with his Quirk, giving All Might the opportunity

Stain’s Quirk is countered as All For One releases his blood and changes it with 2 Quirks he stockpiled for this potential outcome. The Hero Killer dies as All For One praises his slight contribution, All Might mortally injured. But he persists, still needing to stop All For One before he gets to Shigaraki

One Piece 1091-1093

Kizaru defeats Sentomaru, who we learn was found by Kizaru and Vegapunk as a child, taken in as the latter’s bodyguard. Stussy protects Vegapunk as Lucci tries to kill the scientist and Luffy’s group prepares to escape. Kizaru breaks in through the barrier and Luffy clashing with him, confident he can win this time.

We flashback to Marijoa, where Kuma and Akainu clash, but Kuma escapes, leading to his current situation climbing the Red Line. Meanwhile, Luffy and Kizaru’s fight seems to be in the Admiral’s favor, Luffy knocked away and Kizaru smashing the Vegaforce One in half as Luffy flies through it. But Luffy recovers, giant sized now in Gear 5. And the giant robot from the Void Century appears to reawaken

Luffy occupies Kizaru as the others try to get Dr. Vegapunk away. Zoro clashes with Lucci, while Vegapunk heads off, Kizaru having tricked Luffy, but unable to get the doctor as Luffy intervenes again. And Vegapunk, using his authority, turns the Pacifistas to attack all Navy soldiers on the island
