World Trigger 35

Everyone’s shocked at Kazama’s challenge to Osamu, Arashiyama asking whether this is another of Kido’s orders. Osamu is sure he wouldn’t stand a chance, but he knows he also needs to know Kazama’s style even a bit if his group wants to achieve A Rank status and be able to go to the Neighbor world, so he accepts.

The battle starts as most of the people in the room leave, only Yuma and the A Rank members still watching. Osamu notes that Kazama’s a dual fencer with Scorpion, Kazama observing that Osamu uses the Raygust as a shield and then fires, a defense Gunner strategy. Kazama uses a Chameleon Trigger and quickly stabs at Osamu’s Trion supply, defeating him. But it’s training mode, so they continue on, Kazama trying the same strategy, Osamu activating Raygust’s shield.

He’s defeated again, and it’s shown that he’s defeated multiple times after that, the battle seeming hopelessly in Kazama’s favor. Karasuma says that Osamu should be able to figure out the weakness of the Chameleon Trigger, which Yuma expresses interest in, since he doesn’t know much about Border’s Triggers yet. Osamu notes that Kazama reappears to attack, so he theorizes that he can’t use other Triggers when invisible, using Asteroid to attack and try to find Kazama’s position.

Kazama still defeats him, used to that strategy of Gunners. The others note he doesn’t stand chance. Kitora even asks Karasuma to stop the battle, Karasuma wondering why she’s worried about him. Yuma says that Osamu knows he can’t win, he’s just trying to gain combat experience, which Kitora thinks is ridiculous, since he can’t gain experience unless his goal is victor, in her opinion.

The battle ends as Kazama is bored. They fought 20 times and Osamu couldn’t even scratch him. Kazama notes that Osamu’s barely qualified for B rank and wonders if it was really worth it for Jin to give up his Black Trigger. Osamu is shocked to hear this, Kazama explaining how Yuma’s enlistment was dependent on Jin giving up his special weapon. Osamu is amazed that Jin made such a sacrifice and the chapter ends as he challenges Kazama to another battle.

Bleach 554

Bazz B comments on how quickly Cang Du was defeated, leaving him to his death. Toushirou moves to help Matsumoto, but faints from expending so much power at once.

Juhabach is told that the Bankai have returned to their captains, Uryuu asking whether he had predicted this, which he responds affirmatively.

Bambietta, meanwhile, is griping about how some of the Stern Ritter are complaining about losing something they stole. She continues on, noting that her target wasn’t even in Seireitei, so she just immediately lost contact with his Bankai. She then discovers that her 4 “attendants”, revealed a while ago, have disappeared, fuming with anger and causing a huge explosion as a result. Komamura then appears, in a new helmet, a new suit of armor overall.

Bambietta says he should’ve waited until she leveled more of the Seireitei and Shinji appears behind her, saying that he wasn’t willing to wait, unleashing Sakanade on her. He’s even trained to have Sakanade reverse his words, further disorienting someone. Or maybe he just practiced speaking backwards, I’m not entirely sure.

Back where Juhabach and Uryuu are, he says he did predict this, but that it’s all the better, since now the Quincy can unleash their full power: the Vollstandig. It makes the Stern Ritter almost overjoyed, since the stealing of Bankai was more to spite their enemies than to actually use them against the original users.

The Stern Ritter unleash Vollstandig, saying the Soul Reapers will regret reacquiring their Bankai, since they weren’t able to use Vollstandig with the stolen Bankai. Now they’re in their element

The chapter ends as Kisuke gets a call from Ichigo.

Naruto 652

After the successful attack on Obito, Naruto has managed to pull out the Bijuu chakra from Obito, since Naruto has a bit of most of the Bijuu’s chakra in him now.

They start the tug of war, like when Naruto was trying to tame Kurama, pulling out the chakra from Obito the goal. But the Ichibi and Hachibi don’t respond since Naruto doesn’t have their chakra. Gaara and Killerbee help Naruto, since they were either the original host or the present host.

The plan is to draw out the Bijuu chakra from Obito so he’ll be just a shell and the God Tree won’t be able to bloom

The God Tree’s roots stop moving, Sandaime interpreting this as Obito losing control. Shikamaru then communicates with everyone to initiate a plan he’s had in mind.

Naruto begins to see Obito’s memories, Kurama warning him not to waver because of that. Obito says he’s the same as the Sage of the Six Paths, starting to pull back his chakra. But Sasuke gives his aid, as well as the 9 that Naruto gave Rasengan to. Shikamaru then reveals the plan to use everyone in the Ninja alliance’s chakra. Minato extends his chakra tentacles to people can grab them, his own chakra connected with Naruto and Kurama. The sheer power allows the group to succeed

We shift to Obito’s inner world, Naruto’s conflict with him a starkly one sided affair. Obito has no one, while Naruto has virtually all the ninja world behind him. Obito sees himself on the other side, wondering if he’s beginning to regret his actions. Naruto reflects that Obito’s like him: he wanted to become Hokage. Obito denies this, saying that was in the past. But Naruto says he’s going to rip off the façade Obito’s put up and reveal his true self as the chapter concludes.

Toriko 255

Midora releases the huge barrage of Meteor Spice, leaving with a dark look on his face. But it turns out he didn’t finish Ichiryuu off, leaving him to die, it seems. Midora asks whether Minority World is active, Ichiryuu blowing it off. Midora then responds that ultimately Ichiryuu’s not worth killing anymore, since when he went all out, Ichiryuu didn’t seem to stand a chance. And he even speaks as if Ichiryuu could recover, but at this point, he’s very close to death, like the people he’s wanting to punish with Meteor Spice.

Ichiryuu says people won’t die from that, though the food shortage might be a problem, since the Gourmet Eclipse is coming again in the near future. He then speaks that his Full Course will need to be prepared and that he knows someone can do that. He’s hidden it away, similar to Acacia, though I think he’s had Toriko get a few of the ingredients before, like BB Corn.

The Meteor Spice wreaks havoc on cities nearby, an old man almost killed, but saved by Mansam’s pet, Ricky. Even the Giraffe birds fight against the Meteor Spice, their newly regenerated monster heads firing laser blasts at the comets.

Elsewhere, Setsuno blocks some of the attacks as well as Jirou, both fighting in their own ways: Setsuno with air pressure and Jirou with his amazing punch that he can control the path of.

Zonge is trying to act tough in the face of this, saying it’s like an RPG with the final boss.

Sani wonders if the others are okay. Zebra breaking out of the roots, wondering where Komatsu is, since he’s out of his hearing range.

Frohze appears, noting that this must’ve been within Acacia’s predictions for the future Gourmet Age.

Meanwhile, Ichiryuu says that there is an enemy they must defeat, but it won’t be them anymore, implying the future generations he’s raised will do so. We see Starjun flying away, knocking back some of the Meteor Spice and carrying Komatsu back to the Bishokukai headquarters.

The chapter ends as Toriko is surprisingly healed, though the arm and leg he lost are much darker, suggesting his inner Gourmet Cells and such are part of the reason he miraculously recovered from that near death situation. He awakens, no doubt his reaction a focal part of the next chapter, if I had to guess.

Fairy Tail 357

We start the chapter introducing a few more yet unnamed members of the 9 demons of Tartarus, Franmalth, a short stocky guy in a bug like shell, Torafusa, a more reptilian demon, Ezel, a guy with spiky fur and a hot-blooded attitude, Seira, a woman with goat horns and who’s much calmer and Kiisu, a seeming priest of death. Some complain they aren’t getting to kill like Jackal and Tempesta, while others are patiently waiting for their turn to start. Kyouka reminds them that they’re doing all this for Zeref.

At a restaurant, Yajima, previously of the Council, and Freed’s group finds out about the Council building being bombed. Turns out the Raijins have taken a new job since all the harder jobs at the guild intimidated them.

Someone enters the building, destroying it with a huge tornado. Freed and Bixlow try to attack him, but he blows them away, quite literally. He easily defeats Evergreen and Yajima as well, preparing to kill Yajima as the others realize from his words that he’s from Tartaros.

The demon, who I presume is Tempesta, nearly kills Yajima. But Laxus steps in to stop the attack at the last second as the chapter ends.

World Trigger 34

Some of the trainees don’t believe Yuma actually managed to defeat the Neighbor simulation in the time he did, claiming the clock was broken. Yuma says he can do it again if need be, and he does, making even better time at .4 seconds. Other A rank Border agents comment on his skill, thinking his being a Neighbor is a big factor in his natural skill for battle.

Kitora comments that this suggests that Osamu didn’t beat the Neighbor the time that he was promoted to B Rank, but Yuma. He acknowledges this. Suddenly Kitora becomes a bit flustered when Karasuma shows up, a sign of a crush on him. He notes that Yuma’s showing lots of promise, Kitora wondering why he hasn’t shown up in the Rank wars. She wants more lessons from him, but he says she’s already good enough. After he reveals that Osamu’s his pupil, Kitora is visibly jealous of Osamu getting one on one time with her crush.

Back at the Sniper training area, Satori is going to explain the types of Sniper Triggers. Chika is a bit curious why they aren’t teaching about keeping in motion, but other students say Snipers are supposed to hide and shoot, not run around. But the instructor thinks to himself that Chika’s correct, since once their position’s discovered, Snipers have to move. It’s not usually taught until B Rank, so Reiji must’ve thought she had a lot of potential.

The three types of Sniper Triggers are revealed: Egret, a basic type, Lightning, a longer range type, and Ibis, a powerful but shorter range rifle for larger Neighbors. Chika fires a massive shot, making a slight hole in the wall behind her target, showing that she does have a bit of trouble controlling her Trion output and input.

Back where Yuma is, the students accept it wasn’t a fluke and ask him to team up with them, which he immediately refuses. Arashiyama notes that’s because Yuma’s teaming up with Osamu, which Kazama notices

The chapter ends with him challenging Osamu to a mock battle, which stuns everyone, since they thought he was going to challenge Yuma to a battle with his recent performance.

Bleach 553

Toushirou’s Bankai begins to fall off Cang Du as he sees it returning to Toushirou. He asks what happened, Toushirou replying he doesn’t know, suggesting Hyourinmaru just wants to come back

BG9 is observing Soifon’s near dead body, trying to gather some data. Oomaeda starts to resist as BG9 wonders why he’s even trying. He hands the Shineiyaku to Soifon and BG9 is stunned as he loses his connection. Soifon unleashes her Bankai to attack, Oomaeda steadying it and BG9 engulfed in an explosion

Back with Toushirou and Cang Du, he says that they weren’t just sitting by: the Quincy who stole Bankai trained to get better with them. With what portion he has, he slashes with his claw, a stream of spiked ice going towards Toushirou, but it’s deflected. Toushirou says that an attack aimed at him won’t connect, either because he’s the original owner and possess it now or he’s that good with Hyourinmaru.

Cang Du kicks at Toushirou, who blocks it. Cang Du is in disbelief, saying that Toushirou speaks as if his Zanpakutou has a mind of its own. He unleashes a flurry of kicks and then sends Toushirou into the air, saying he loathes pantheism. I think the translation might be better rendered as animism, but I’d have to see the original Japanese.

Toushirou asks if he’s implying a Bankai doesn’t have a soul or will of its own, Hyourinmaru saying that seems to be the case. Toushirou welcomes it back as we see its new form, fully returned to him

Cang Du starts to use a new technique, Toushirou a bit taken aback by the new form, but going with it. The chapter ends as Toushirou freezes Cang Du in a floral cross pattern, apologizing for not making it a Quincy cross jokingly.

Naruto 651

The chapter starts with Sasuke doing what Madara did in his fight against Hashirama in the past: meld Susanoo over Kurama’s chakra form, making a much tougher attack. Kakashi even sees it through Obito’s eye, shocked at this turn of events.

Obito forms a giant sword and shield, saying they’re just delaying the inevitable. He motions to the sky, suggesting that the Infinite Tsukuyomi is close at hand. He also emphasizes that the blade that he holds is that of the Sage of the Six Paths, Nunoboku, is so powerful they’ve already lost.

Naruto calls for the other Rookie 9, etc, through his chakra and they move to help him. Naruto notes to Sasuke they have to wait for an opening and then move immediately, Naruto generating a Rasengan in each tail. The other 9 ninja (meaning Neji’s death had a symbolic and literal meaning for this fight, since only 9 ninja would work with the Kyuubi’s nine tails and Neji would make 12 total, so there’d be one odd ninja out.) move to Naruto’s position

Kakashi thinks to himself that Naruto is the kind of idiot that still inspires people in working against the odds, fighting in spite of them. This makes people think they can’t help but give him their assistance. The void in people’s hearts can be filled by friends and those close to them, which Obito has ceased to do for fear of losing them. But those that have their friends are capable of amazing feats

All of Naruto’s friends are given more of the Kyuubi’s chakra and Naruto trusts them to break Obito’s shield with the Rasengans they have. Sakura is busy with summoning Katsuyu, so Sai took her place in the group of 9.

The group smashes the shield, though only a small enough hole for Susanoo’s sword. The sword stabs through, Obito countering with his own sword

We flashback to an imagined reality where Obito survived, but they still mourn the loss of Rin and the others, Obito becoming Hokage. He’s shocked at these images and the sword he used is shattered, Naruto and Sasuke slashing him as the chapter ends

I doubt he’s defeated, but this is a turning point for the battle, since Obito is now more emotionally unstable.

One Piece 725

Law and Doflamingo continue their banter from before, Doflamingo saying that killing Jora won’t be an issue for her, since his servants are willing to die for him. Jora differs in that she uses her Devil Fruit to cut and run. Doflamingo insists that Law’s meddling in his affairs is petty, but Law says that he’ll continue on the legacy that a certain person (I presume his master or someone he looks up to) started in stopping Doflamingo

Back on the Sunny, the group confirms the locations of everyone else and reflects that Law had planned to leave Doflamingo to fight Kaidou all along, so if he can escape, so much the better.

Momo is trembling and Sanji asks why he turned into a dragon again. Momo explains that when he first got to Dressrosa, Doflamingo was torturing someone and spoke of his belief that everyone has a sadistic side to them and that’s the best entertainment one can get. He then says that his subordinates had better understand that or they’ll suffer the same fate as the guy he just killed. After that, Kanjuurou was captured and Momonosuke and Kinemon presumably managed to escape.

Sanji says it might not be so bad to be their hostage, likely connecting back to Violet, but Momonosuke thinks otherwise. We flashback to Sanji learning from Violet that she’s going to be able to escape. She then tells Sanji about the Fighting Fish attacking the ship and Sanji quickly runs off after them. Violet then causes a distraction and escapes to the royal palace.

Back at the colosseum, Zoro and Kinemon have met with Bartolomeo and his fanboy behavior confuses them. But they manage to negotiate with him to find where Luffy is.

Rebecca is doing splendidly in D block, defeating opponent after opponent. It’s noted by the judges that she’s never hurt her opponents, always redirecting their energy to defeat them by ring out. And she’s never taken a hit, some suggesting she can use Observation Haki. The scene shifts elsewhere after Rebecca is confronted by an especially dangerous fighter who seems to be skilled at grappling

Chinjao’s grandsons are waiting for him to recover and misunderstand that the exit is on the other side. But it turns out the threat revealed a while ago: that the gladiators are in fact not leaving the colosseum, is true, Sai thrown into a pit where the other losers are. So Doflamingo’s threat still looms as all the losers are in what seems to be an inescapable trap. One Piece is on break next week, so we’ll have even less series next time until both One Piece and Magi come back

Toriko 254

Midora speaks about feeling damaged, crumpled like a piece of paper. The only time he feels even relatively good is when he eats. Humans have to eat in spite of all their suffering and he follows that logic in his quest to eat everything. His goal is to constantly seek satisfaction to his appetite, Ichiryuu commenting that it’s like Midora has become a slave to his hunger. He says he has to stop Midora, since he’s forgotten his mission of succeeding Frohze’s will. Midora replies that he doesn’t disagree, but Ichiryuu can’t fulfill his goal of stopping Midora, since he’s so much older.

Midora says he’s the one dark spot that came out of the shining Gourmet Age. His Gourmet Cells are at the core of his deep hunger and he has become a slave to his appetite. The two move to finish their battle once and for all.

Ichiryuu manages to recover his horrible wounds with a combination of Food Immersion and his Minority World powering up the cells that were trying to heal him. Midora compliments him on that but wonders if that can match the speed of his tongue. He counters, Ichiryuu shocked that his speed and control are so much greater than before. Midora’s even managed to suppress the minority cells so Ichiryuu’s greatest advantage is gone.

Ichiryuu then puts all his energy into a chopstick attack formed of his Appetite Energy. Midora can’t dodge, taking the attack and resulting power it releases. But he survives, saying that Ichiryuu’s power has lowered a great deal since he has gotten so old.

Midora disappears into the darkness as Ichiryuu comments that his Mirror Neurons, cells that allow people to mimic others, are so advanced, that was how he could imitate Ichiryuu’s Minority World and also can conceal himself in the environment. Midora stabs through Ichiryuu from behind. As Ichiryuu lies dying, he sees Midora crying, saying that he did that before when they fought. He feels Midora never intended to kill him or couldn’t force himself to. The thing he was searching for all this time wasn’t food, but love.

Midora speaks about the Devil’s Roar that will create the Meteor Spice and moves to finish Ichiryuu off. Ichiryuu, meanwhile, is amazed at his brother’s strength, wanting to have dined with him once more. I’m guessing the Meteor Spice is from Midora, not Ichiryuu. The theories were on either side about this, but now we have relative confirmation.

Midora remembers Frohze telling him that if he’s hurt, his family can help ease the pain. He releases his Gourmet Cells, which we saw before in the form of a beast, roaring and releasing the Meteor Spice in his anguish.

Fairy Tail 356

Silver is walking towards Tartaros’ headquarters, which he comments on his distaste for its aesthetic.

Back at the Magic Senate, they’re discussing Erza’s victory, Fairy Tail’s apparent need to stand out and whether they should even host the Grand Magic Tournament anymore

The main topic is Tartaros. It seems guilds associated with them have been wiped out recently and they can’t seem to find out the culprit. Some suspect Crime Sorciere, but another member suggests it could be Tartaros itself weeding out the weaklings

The head of the Senate thinks it’s plausible and says they have to move to stop Tartaros once and for all

Suddenly, the Senate building is attacked, a huge explosion wrecking the structure. Doranbolt manages to survive, but it looks like many others are either dead or unconscious. Only one other member seems to have survived besides Doranbolt and he’s attacked by a cat beast man called Jackal. His specialization is explosions and he begins to use one on Org, the other survivor. Doranbolt is told to leave, so that the Senate can at least partly survive this assassination attempt

Back at Fairy Tail, Erza explains the situation to Makarov, specifically that Minerva is now in a Dark Guild. It’s also revealed Sting is now acting master of Sabertooth. Makarov says they should tell the Council.

Juvia, meanwhile, has baked Gray some bread with his face on it. He’s not sure he wants to eat that, which she planned for, baking some bread with her face on it for him. Elfman eats a piece, Juvia joking that she was “eaten out” by another man, Gray accidentally eating some Gray bread.

Levi has found some info on E.N.D. in a book. It’s apparently another one of Zeref’s demons, like Deliora or Lullaby, but it’s sealed in a book or object like the others. Tartaros is the likely culprit to possess the item. Natsu and Gajeel plan to attack the guild, but Lucy brings up that they know next to nothing about the guild and that would be putting Fairy Tail and the Council at risk.

Suddenly someone bursts in with the news that the Senate has been attacked.

Back at the Senate, Doranbolt goes to Cobra’s cell, demanding he tell him about Tartaros. He refuses, asking for the release of his comrades along with him to cooperate. Doranbolt refuses, Cobra replying that Doranbolt should ask the higher ups, which Doranbolt explains have all been killed. Cobra comments how excessive they were, Doranbolt threatening to kill him if he doesn’t spit up what he knows. Cobra says he won’t budge on freeing the others, but he will tell Doranbolt one thing

Before we can figure it out, though, we switch to a scene where Tartaros’ members are meeting up. Silver and Kyouka meet up, Jackal and another Kyuukimon member, Tempesta, mentioned to be on missions, meaning that their plan has been set into action. The 7 remaining members move to start their attack as the chapter ends with Cobra’s revelation. None of these 9 members of Tartaros are humans. They’re all demons summoned by Zeref and their master is E.N.D.  I wonder if this means Zeref is ultimately behind this plan anyway, even if they’re acting on their own. Seems likely.

I’m a bit surprised Cobra knew this, but he does have that awesome hearing. I like the themes for these new characters and I bet they’ll stick around longer than the Royal Assassins that Fairy Tail fought near the end of the Grand Magic Tournament.

Magi 200

Magi will be on break for the next two weeks, so we’ll be short this series for a bit.

We continue with Sharrkan teasing Alibaba about dating Toto. He’s embarrassed about it, but admits that while she isn’t ideal to many people, she’s kind even as a female gladiator and he fell in love with her.

Meanwhile, Morgiana is still reeling from this shock, remembering all the time she spent with Alibaba, becoming infatuated with him, respecting him for his courage. She even has trouble sleeping, interfering with her training with Masrur. She asks him about metal vessel assimilation. He explains that some of the others besides Drakon have half assimilated, but Sinbad stopped them. The risk of them losing themselves to it exists along with their bodies becoming less and less humans. The Djinn could even absorb their entire being because of the process.

Morgiana says she wants to be strong, to protect Alibaba, but Masrur says that their masters are strong enough. He thinks their real purpose is not to be an “emotional risk”, as he puts it. The real goal is to support them through difficulties, which he wonders if Mor can do even if Alibaba has found another woman besides her, which reminds her of the issue she still has.

Back where Alibaba is we find out he was lying about being in a relationship with Toto. He felt pressured and overwhelmed by all the praise people were giving him, so he went along with their teasing and said he was dating Toto. This was because she was the first girl he thought of and he didn’t want to disappoint those who looked up to him and were younger, like Aladdin and Olba.

But it turns out he was referring to Garda, the giant baboon he fought the first time he became a gladiator. She became attached to him after he freed her and he was afraid she’d become jealous if people were suggesting he was being intimate with many women. He wasn’t dating Garda and it wasn’t like he was unpopular with women in Reim, but Garda scared them off.

He’s saddened, wanting a girlfriend, but he feels like there isn’t anyone who likes him. He plans to continue the lie with Toto after talking with her about the story he told. But she’s already told the others about Garda, ruining any chance he had of saving face. He owns up to it, saying he didn’t do anything with any women, just accepting any consequences with a straight face. His friends understand and the chapter ends with him being a bit forlorn, but otherwise happy that his friends still accept him.

This joke is wearing a bit thin, but it’s spaced out. Alibaba’s never gotten a woman that he’s interested in or interested in him that isn’t muscular or brutish in some way. Even the women at the parties he meets to serve him drinks are hulking behemoths, like Elizabeth from early on.

World Trigger 33

Osamu and the others establish their plan. Yuma and Chika will advance to B rank through the usual channels and when they do so, they’ll form a squad with Osamu and try to get to the Neighbor world through the exam that takes them there. They’ll look for Chika’s friend and brother, the overall goal. I imagine Yuma may find a new goal in the Neighbor world, which will further advance the plot

Shinoda introduces himself, welcoming the trainees and emphasizing their importance. Arashiyama squad proceeds to explain the rest. A few people say that Arashiyama squad, since they’re chosen for their looks, isn’t that great in terms of combat strength. Yuma says they aren’t lying, though Replica reflects that it’s possible they just don’t realize Arashiyama squad’s power, since they haven’t experienced it themselves. Not to mention they may just be as ignorant as those they criticize, the trainees who idolize Arashiyama squad, in that they believe rumors spread about the squad being weak because they’re more for Public Relations.

The groups are split into Snipers and Gunners/Attackers, Chika going off on her own for now. Arashiyama explains that since they’re trainees, C Rank can’t go into active duty yet. He further explains that the way for anyone to get to B rank is to achieve 4000 points through an indicator on their gloves connected to their Trigger. The points demonstrate mastery over the Trigger and most start at 1000, some having over 2000 if they show especially good skill in the provisional exam.

Kitora shows up, noting that for Yuma to advance fast he’ll have to get perfect scores in the exams and advance in the rank wars as fast as possible. He comments that’s pretty simple, but is excited.

The first exam is fighting in simulation mode against a modified simalcrum of a basic Neighbor we saw at the beginning of the series. They get 5 minutes and the faster they defeat it, the more points they get. Kitora and Osamu note that they’re familiar with this method, having done it themselves.

The chapter ends as Yuma demonstrates his prior experience, defeating the simulation in 6/100 of a second, astonishing everyone at the sheer speed. Some managed in 4-11 seconds, like Kitora or others, but Yuma has set a record that’ll probably never be beaten. A nice transition into the chuunin exam equivalent of World Trigger.

Bleach 552

Bazz B tries to scare off Cang Du by saying Juhabach won’t like him killing someone he was already fighting, but Cang Du brings up that Juhabach’s orders were to kill the captains with their stolen Bankai, so Bazz B technically shouldn’t have even tried to fight Toushirou to begin with.

Matsumoto falls nearby, wounded heavily. Cang Du caught her and brought her to his side, wanting them to die together. Cang Du prepares to kill them, explaining that he is the “Iron” of the Stern Ritter. He unleashes Toushirou’s Bankai. He praises it, saying he regrets having to kill its owner and allow it to survive afterwards.

Back with Mayuri and Kisuke’s discussion, Kisuke begins to explain that he found a flaw in the Quincy’s method of Bankai stealing and can prevent further stealing as well as reclaim the ones already stolen. Mayuri is a bit more concerned that Kisuke managed to bug his clothes, but before he can sever the communication, Kisuke appears out of a Senkaimon from the Dangai behind Mayuri. He proposes they work together, Mayuri saying that they’re crippled with the R&D Institute teleported to the shadow realm of the Wandenreich, but Kisuke notes Mayuri still has his own lab, complimenting him on discovering the nature of the Scahtten Bereich.

The R&D department starts to seek out the captains and vice captains, using every trick they can think of to either find them with their own technology they have remaining or modify the Quincy tech to suit their needs.

Kisuke presents his new invention, Shineiyaku (lit. Shadow Invading Pills), Mayuri noting the name is fairly simple. Kisuke notes this was something he developed while in Hueco Mundo, getting some clues from fighting Quilge. He notes that the Resurreccion is similar enough to a Bankai in power that the Quincy should’ve been stealing them as well, but not a single one has been taken. He theorizes there’s only two reasons: either they can’t or it would be a detriment to them to do so. Mayuri says from his research there’s no reason to think a Resurreccion couldn’t be taken, so the logical conclusion is that it’s indeed damaging to them.

The Tenteikuura, last used at the end of the Soul Society arc, is activated. Kisuke talks to them, explaining about the black pill he sent in the transmission. He says they only need to touch it with something, even their sword, and it will be absorbed into their soul

Mayuri contemplates why the Quincy would bear such a grudge against the Hollows when the Hollows are merely mindless soul eating entities with no formalized culture of their own, even for the ones who are sufficiently intelligent or advanced (Vastolorde, etc). The only conclusion he has left is that the Hollows are literally a threat to the Quincy’s very existence. This isn’t just that they eat their souls, which applies to even non Quincies. Kisuke further explains, saying that Quincies are completely vulnerable to Hollows, unlike Soul Reapers, their souls rotting away and disintegrating when the essence of a Hollow is introduced into their bodies. There’s no Hollowification, they just cease to be. Thus, they seek to eradicate them.

The solution to the problem, therefore, is to Hollowify a Bankai, even for a second, making the Bankai toxic to the Quincy and reducing them to their Vollstandig as a comparable power, along with Blut Vene and Blut Arterie. Cang Du is shocked as Toushirou’s Bankai begins to leave him, similar to when they stole the Bankai originally.

This battle is far from over, but this one tactic, hopefully not the last, has turned this battle in the favor of the Soul Reapers. We still have the issue of their Vollstandig and Sklaverei techniques, not to mention Blut Vene and Blut Arterie, but Kisuke no doubt has a counter to the latter and Bankai, well developed ones, seem comparable to the Vollstandig. The explanation about the Bankai stealing technique’s weakness explains a lot, including why Quilge Opie didn’t like stealing a Hollow’s powers, saying they tainted his holy body. And Ichigo’s Soul Reaper powers being part Hollow means they could never have been stolen.

Naruto 650

The chapter starts with the Kage moving to attack the God Tree, Hashirama at the lead. Even the samurai are fighting. Tobirama uses the connection between Minato and Naruto’s chakra as a way to allow the Shunshin technique to defend people from the tree’s attacks.’

Hiruzen asks Orochimaru whether he’ll help or not. Orochimaru replies that while the war doesn’t interest him, Obito’s plan would put an end to his experiments, so he agrees to help.

Obito then morphs the God Tree’s roots into dragons, attacking the shinobi, protected from the especially dangerous attacks by Tobirama. Sakura and Tsunade both use the Byakugou, enhancing their chakra so they can summon a portion of Katsuyu’s body to further protect the alliance with a stream of healing.

Naruto and Sasuke are still fighting Obito, who’s dodging their attacks. But both Naruto and Sasuke are getting a feel for his timing. But as they attack, Obito blocks them with relative ease and says he’ll put an end to this now. He grabs them with giant hands made of the black sage energy he’s been fighting with.

Kakashi, meanwhile, thinks to himself that Obito can’t deny that he still has the Will of Fire from when he was a Konoha ninja, but he’s been trying to push it aside. Fighting with Naruto has made it resurge after all these years. The chaos in his heart is still making him deny that, not even wanting to accept the possibility that Naruto could be right. As he says this, Obito slams Naruto and Sasuke on the ground, a huge shockwave resulting from it.

As Naruto gets up, Obito asks him why he’s fighting. He insists that his friends will betray him one day and all the suffering he’s gone through will start to warp him and turn him into the same person Obito has become. Even if that doesn’t happen, he says the pain and betrayal can arise again at any time, his friends, the villages, anything. Since, according to him, there is no hope, he asks why Naruto continues to fight, Naruto responding that it’s his ninja way.

Sasuke and Naruto then start to combine their attacks again, Sasuke saying they should finish this. Naruto ends the chapter saying he’ll dream on his own tomorrow after he rests from this battle.

One Piece 724

Last time Sanji attacked Doflamingo and now he starts a counterattack, slashing Sanji and seemingly defeating him effortlessly. He even seemed to dodge Sanji’s followup attack from Diable Jambe. Doflamingo moves to attack, but Sanji, as expected, isn’t down yet, assaulting him with a barrage of kicks. But Doflamingo then uses his unknown ability to freeze Sanji in place.

He moves to attack, Sanji telling the others to leave him behind, but Law manages to use Shambles to switch places with Doflamingo, who’s understandably irritated, his attack destroying a building nearby. Law moves Sanji to the boat

The group exchanges info, Sanji explaining about the factory situation and that Kinemon’s friend is in the factory as well, Law giving Caesar his heart back and telling the group to transport him elsewhere. Law says they have to go to the next island ahead of him, Zou, since when they destroy the factory, they’ll have no more reason to be on the island, but Nami says they won’t leave Luffy and the others behind.

Suddenly the marine battleship frees itself from the plants and attacks the Sunny. Fujitora sends meteors at the ship as well, Law managing to deflect it. Sanji’s wondering why Law’s focusing on Doflamingo so much, even though he understands why they have to keep Caesar as far from him as possible.

Doflamingo attacks again, Law managing to stop him and telling the group that they need to go somewhere without clouds. Doflamingo wields the String String Fruit and without clouds, he can’t use his threads to traverse over the sea.

They escape with Coup De Burst and Doflamingo asks him why he only let half of them escape, since he can still use the others as hostages to get Caesar back. But Law says his alliance with them is over. His primary goal was using the Straw Hats to stop the production of SMILE, so once that’s over, he doesn’t care if he dies in the fight with Doflamingo, since once that’s done, Doflamingo has to deal with Kaidou’s anger at losing the artificial Devil Fruits. Something happened 13 years ago and that’s what Law’s trying to stop with this plan of making Kaidou turn against Doflamingo.

Toriko 253

Turns out the Blue Nitro were going to take Frohze and Acacia somewhere. They leave with the two, Midora regretting that he didn’t beg Frohze not to leave. The Gourmet Eclipse happens, the ingredients stored by Acacia’s disciples allowing the famine to subside. But Midora begins to fall into evil, going back to why one should give food to those ungrateful for it. Frohze explains that things are better, they are at their fullest, when they are shared, Midora not able to understand.

Acacia brings back Frohze, very weak from their journey. He asks Jirou and Setsuno to look for ingredients and tells Ichiryuu something very important off screen, presumably about his Full Course

Midora inquires about Frohze’s state, which she explains was due to trying to prepare God, the ultimate ingredient that could end the war. He’s stunned, still not wanting her to waste her skills on those who can’t appreciate food. He goes to get Cure Water, hoping that will aid in Frohze’s recovery. The place is dangerous, one of the Eight Beast Kings residing there. Midora comes back with the water, badly injured, Frohze saying he shouldn’t have gone that far, but he insists that he should help her, since she’s helped so many others. Nearly fainting, Frohze goes into God Cooking mode and prepares what is her final dish, since she was still not healed enough and suffered mortal damage to her body and Gourmet Cells most likely.

The others return to see this, Jirou even trying to use Knocking, but realizing it’s futile. They bury her, Acacia noting that there is a cause and effect with food, death always a necessity, but what nature gives to them, they should share. And he emphasizes they should continue to eat Frohze’s share, living for her sake. Acacia then says he has to leave on his journey he spoke of before, Midora leaving in anguish. He continued to bring Cure Water to Frohze’s grave, eventually becoming hungry and furious at himself for his weakness.

The Gourmet War at its end, Midora rages at those who could not appreciate food. He leaves the grave, Ichiryuu stopping him. He says he knows Midora’s been searching for Acacia’s Full Course and he has to stop him. Midora responds that he’s just following Acacia’s admonition to eat for Frohze, consuming everything he can. The two then fight, Ichiryuu saying he’ll teach what Acacia and Frohze’s will was.

The chapter ends as something appears to come from Frohze’s grave. This makes me think the obvious connection has to be Midora’s bringing Cure Water for so many days, possibly weeks, to her grave. Now she’s revived, though not as she once was, most likely.

Fairy Tail 355

The group returns to Warrod’s house, the ancient mage complimenting them on a job well done. Wendy brings up their concerns that Tartaros is involved, but Warrod says they should let the Magic Senate investigate that. He jokingly gives them a potato as payment, the Fairy Tail members actually getting a hot spring visit as their reward.

The girls are the focus initially, even thinking that Natsu and Gray wouldn’t appreciate the hot spring, which they actually do. They’re actually in the same hot spring, supposedly there before the girls arrived. Even Warrod arrives. Erza brushes it off, saying they’re all friends here, a little skinship not a problem.

Warrod reveals he was previously a member of Fairy Tail, the others surprised. It does explain why Makarov was so shocked and insisted the group had to succeed, since it was his elder. He compliments them on their friendship, that it reflects well on the founder and her goals for the guild, the nakama spirit emphasized many times before.

This is further emphasized, Mavis’ words resonating; the bonds between comrades, the reliance of each upon the other and sharing hopes and dreams, among other things.

Natsu thinks that since Warrod is so old, he might know about E.N.D. and the demons. The relation between them and Zeref troubles Warrod. He says that while he doesn’t know anything specifically regarding Zeref or E.N.D., he says that Tartaros may be at the core of this, since it’s rumored they have the Book of Zeref.

The chapter ends as Natsu, enraged and pumped up about fighting Tartarus, accidentally hits Erza, who retaliates in kind. The next chapter will start the Tartaros arc.

Magi 199

We start the new arc with Aladdin on a ship writing a diary to Ugo-kun, recapping events that happened after the battle, meaning this is all technically a flashback up to when the boat arrives wherever it’s going.

Magnostadt is rebuilding and is trying to remain neutral between Reim and Kou. They’re also trying to not be dependent on magic or use the citizen hierarchy system they used before, which means they have a great deal of potential as an ally of Reim, or if they chose, the Seven Seas Alliance.

Titus is now the Magi of Reim and he’s working hard to make things better. There’s apparently a team of magical doctors that are keeping an eye on his body, since it was technically unstable in its original form. And Marga’s there as well, so the doctors could also be helping her condition. This is Sphintus’ family, I think, or is related to him. He’s hanging out with Titus as well and he explains that Titus’ body is not so bad, though it requires a bit of maintenance initially to maintain what I could assume is its consistency. He’s basically like Aladdin now in the respect of his magic supply, near infinite with the Rukh’s assistance.

He also brings up a summit scheduled in two months between Sinbad and Kouen that the Magi are presumably expected to attend. Aladdin plans to tell them about Alma Toran and discuss what to do with the state of the world at the moment.

Until the summit, Aladdin and his friends will live in Sindria kingdom, where the boat was going presumably. They’re welcomed by Sinbad and his generals, commenting on Aladdin’s height and Mor becoming more beautiful, which I don’t notice in the art style. Sinbad’s planning the summit, while Alibaba and Yamraiha were assisting with Magnostadt’s recovery, which is presumably stabilized now.

Olba from the arc of Aum Madara’s cult of children has now gotten much taller, moreso than Alibaba, which is a running joke at this point. Even Toto, a warrior Alibaba met in Reim seems to be taller than him. She’s here with her master, so I’m assuming more training will happen in this arc or preparation of some sort.

A great feast is held, as seems common in Sindria, and we see that Sharrkan was the master of Olba, teaching him sword techniques and also influencing him to be very assertive and dependable to others, like Alibaba, who Olba looks up to. Sharrkan compliments Alibaba, saying he looks stronger and joking about whether he lost his virginity in Reim, saying that like Masrur knows, gladiators are popular and they apparently can bed many women if they are successful in combat. Alibaba doesn’t seem to have had that happen, much to Mor’s relief. Though when he tries to cut them off by saying they might upset Toto, the others connect the dots and Alibaba confesses that he did start a romantic relationship with Toto, which shocks Morgiana as the chapter ends

World Trigger 32

Tachikawa and Kazama are talking to Jin this chapter about his actions, wondering exactly why he did it. If he could’ve just given up Fujin, Kazama inquires, why didn’t he do it yesterday? Jin replies that it didn’t have the prestige it does today, having beaten so many top A rank members by itself. Tachikawa just thinks Jin’s giving up and wants to fight him, which makes him seem much less competent than Kazama as a Border member, since he’s letting this rivalry with Jin cloud any judgment he might’ve had.

Tachikawa does ask why he went so far to allow a Neighbor into Border. Jin says Kido asked him the same thing, saying this seems too good for their side. Jin replies he isn’t trying to affect the balance of power or participate in the conflicts that are coming between the older generations. He just wants to help the younger generation, and keeping the older people out of the fight makes that easier on him. He also says the younger ones will be useful for Kido’s true objective.  He’s stunned, but agrees.

Jin explains that Yuma’s had a hard life and he wants to let him have fun. The others are confused, wondering how Border factors into this. He responds that fighting them was the most fun he’s had, and there are lots of people Yuma can spar with and get stronger, which was what Jin was like back in the day as well. Yuma will rise to the top and he just wants everyone to stop fighting so much. Kazama is still not sure why Jin would go this far, giving up what was his teacher’s memento to him. But Jin says Mogami wouldn’t mind, because he wanted there to be relative peace between the agents. Also, Jin reminds them that since he doesn’t have a Black Trigger anymore, he’s no longer S rank and thus he’ll be participating in the rank wars in a few weeks. He’s aiming to take Tachikawa’s spot.

Returning to Border, Jin finds that Yuma and Osamu’s training is going well and he encourages them saying they should be ready for the “tournament” coming up soon. He then rests and thinks that things will be okay, since the future is moving forward. He is an older generation, so it makes sense. Though I wonder if he’ll make some sacrifice eventually to help Yuma.

Yuma is starting to get better at Border Triggers, utilizing a Scorpion, like Jin. Osamu says he wants to be a Gunner, Kyousuke telling him that’s risky if you don’t have a lot of Trion, since that’s the source of the bullets. Chika is doing well also and is moving to the next stage of her training

We then have a mild time skip to the starting day of Border enlistment, which is probably also close or the same as the rank wars for all levels. The chapter ends as Osamu’s team arrives.

Bleach 551

Haschwalth notices something as the chapter begins. It’s a barrier and he can’t get through. Nanao explains it’s a temporary shield that prevents anyone with Quincy powers from getting through. Haschwalth notes her and she says they must know that she’s one of the best in kidou of 8th Division, so it’s natural she could create something like this. She says it’s due to their residual reiatsu being left after they attacked before. Haschwalth then asks if the other captains can use this kidou, which she says they cannot. He responds that she should’ve continued after completing the kidou, creating a pattern for the other captains so they could use it against the Stern Ritter.

Toushirou managed to survive and is running from Bazz B, who attacks one of his ice blasts in retreat, but something happens. It’s a mist and to disperse it, Bazz B uses Burning Stomp. Toushirou then appears, Bazz B wondering why he didn’t hide himself. Toushirou responds that he didn’t have a plan, but he did manage to set up a trap. It’s revealed to be some sort of sealing technique, possibly blending his Shikai and some form of Bakudou. But Bazz B easily breaks out of it, shocking Toushirou, since it was apparently fairly strong. He then uses Burner Finger 2, seemingly piercing a giant hole in Toushirou.

Cang Du then appears saying that Bazz B should leave him be, since they agreed that the Stern Ritter who stole the bankai should finish off those captains whom they defeated. He moves to make the finishing blow

The chapter ends with Division 12 noting that Toushirou and Soifon’s reiatsu are seemingly gone, Mayuri saying he can manage to fight without a Bankai. Urahara then contacts him saying he knows a way to get back their stolen bankai. The obvious speculation is destroying the medal and/or defeating the Stern Ritter who stole it. We’ll see next time: I hope Mayuri gets another moment like when he fought Espada Octava a while back. Not to mention we need to see what Komamura and Byakuya’s new fighting styles are.

Naruto 649

The five Kage talk about the dream of the first Hokage, unity between the 5 villages and shinobi overall. They move to help the alliance, inspiring the lower level shinobi to steel themselves for battle.

Naruto and Sasuke attack Obito, but he manages to block their attacks, his shield slightly damaged. He taunts them in his own way and Naruto prepares another attack

Sakura’s trying to heal Shikamaru and suddenly Shikamaru is slowly healed by Naruto’s chakra. Sakura says Naruto should worry about his own battle, but Ino says she can sense through her Mind Body Transmission technique that he’s doing it subconsciously.

Shikamaru is amazed at Naruto, beating himself up over not being able to help Naruto, and possibly because he panicked at a critical moment. But Sakura also says she’ll help him. He continues to flashback, noting how Naruto is inspiring to everyone around him. He compares Naruto to Hashirama, saying Naruto doesn’t have a brother to support him like Tobirama, so he says he’ll become his right hand man when he becomes Hokage. The others chime in, Shino even noting that Naruto could have as many as 3 advisors in the official rules that apparently exist.

Tsunade comes in, fully healing Shikamaru and praising Sakura for doing her best. She then talks to Hashirama. He apologizes for having to bring his grandchild’s generation into his problems, but she says his spirit and will have carried on, the will of fire Hiruzen and Asuma mentioned. The group resolves to cut down the God Tree while Naruto and Sasuke are fighting Obito.

The other Kages move out, Raikage remembering that even if Naruto and Hashirama both bow so low to others, that is a sort of power alongside his own strength.

Meanwhile, Kakashi is healing himself from his fight with Obito. Hashirama concludes the chapter by noting how hard Naruto had it, but that he still persevered and is now uniting everyone, encouraging everyone to fight with him and the others.

One Piece 723

Sanji and Zoro decide that Sanji will go to the Sunny, Sanji giving Kinemon a Den Den Mushi that has the map to the Toy Factory. Their plan is to check where everyone is after meeting up with Luffy, calling the Sunny to check on Sanji, etc

Kinemon and Zoro try to figure out how to get in, but they can’t seem to decide, since Zoro wants to cut a way in, but Kinemon doesn’t want to draw attention. Bartolomeo goes into fanboy mode again after seeing Zoro.

Back at Dressrosa palace, another of Doflamingo’s subordinates, Gladius, is frustrated that Violet betrayed them. He says he was a bit suspicious from the start, since with her Devil Fruit, she should’ve seen the Sunny coming.

Sanji and Violet are running towards Green Bit, Sanji being told by Violet that they should change their meeting point with the others, since there’s a bunch of Marines at the harbor. Violet explains that with her ability, she basically has a bird’s eye view of everything within the entire kingdom of Dressrosa and a bit outside of it as well. She sees the Sunny struck by lightning, shocked. Sanji thinks about what it could be

Turns out it was Nami and the others fighting Jora. She’s pretty much defeated after Brook tricked her, so they’re deciding what to do with her. They’re curious about why Law told them to retrieve Caesar and Jora spills the bean, explaining that Doflamingo was tricking them the whole time, never having stepped down as a Shichibukai, etc.

Back at Green Bit, Doflamingo continues with his revelation, saying he was indeed a Celestial Dragon, but now he’s moved on. He’s not intending to linger here though, needing to finish off the Straw Hats. Fujitora notes that he heard thunder, Doflamingo not sure. Caesar asks for his heart back, Law saying that he didn’t actually say it was Caesar’s heart. Turns out it was just a regular Marine’s, Law activating his Devil Fruit and escaping with Caesar. Doflamingo and Fujitora both give chase

The Sunny arrives at Green Bit, but they can’t see Law with all the fog. The ship is attacked by Fighting Fish.

Meanwhile, Law is trying to draw Doflamingo away from the ship so he can toss Caesar over and then fight Doflamingo. But Violet and Sanji come from Dressrosa and Doflamingo figures out the plan, moving to attack the Sunny. The chapter ends as Sanji attacks Doflamingo to defend the Sunny, Doflamingo saying Sanji is pretty strong.

Toriko 252

Acacia and his disciples head out to capture more ingredients. Midora gets away from the group and causes them to get chased by an angry beast, since he stole its egg. Later, Midora is hurt by what is presumed to be a Devil Orochi. Acacia explains that while it’s not one of the Eight Kings, the strongest beasts in Gourmet World, a mature Devil Orochi is comparable in strength. Acacia holds out a hand and this further changes Midora’s perspective, realizing that he doesn’t have to be alone, that he has a family now.

Back at the house, Acacia uses Cure Water to heal Midora’s wound. He explains that the water activates the Gourmet Cells’ healing ability. He further explains that with a compatible ingredient it can heal a gaping wound, like when Mansam had a hole in his throat and then drank some booze. It’s then revealed that while normal damage can be healed, damage directly to the Gourmet Cells is permanent.

Midora brings up his scars and Acacia notes that people can be born with Gourmet Cells through time, since they’ve existed since ancient times. Those Gourmet Cells that emerge through scars are apparently tougher, so this means Midora’s Gourmet Cells are especially durable. Acacia says they should try to find everyone’s compatible ingredients soon. They start to eat and even as they fight, Midora is appreciative of his new family. Training with Acacia and the others makes him experience things he hadn’t before, like Jirou is afraid of heights and Ichiryuu is a lightweight when it comes to alcohol. Everything that happened was a new memory he treasured, such as Jirou pairing up with Setsuno and Frohze’s motherly goodnight kiss.

But the one thing that he still felt was a problem comes up when he and Frohze hand out rations to the people suffering from the war. One guy is ungrateful and Midora is furious, Frohze stopping him before he hurts the guy. It’s said that this is Midora’s one vice that lingers in him, which I would assume is a sense of hatred towards those who don’t appreciate their food. He even says this, but Frohze says he’s far more pure than others, since he sees the value of hard work for food. Frohze worked hard on the bentou box that the guy threw away and Midora’s tears showed his innocence. He weeps at the kindness that Frohze shows him

We then skip through history, Ichiryuu defeating the Four Beast and Jirou sealing it as best he could in Gourmet World with Knocking. Acacia compliments them, saying he was just going around gathering ingredients. The others are amazed, wondering what they could be, Acacia explaining they’re for his Full Course, which the others know very little about.

He explains that when the Gourmet Eclipse happens, there may be a cease fire in the war, but acquiring ingredients will be that much more difficult, so they have to gather as much as they can now. Frohze is asked whether she’s worked on her Food Immersion, meaning Acacia probably expects her to require much more food by comparison, being a chef.

The others feel a sudden powerful aura, Frohze noting it’s Pair. They talk as if it’s a thinking entity, so it’s potentially different than the Full Course ingredient. Acacia tells them not to interfere, that these are Blue Nitro, which no one can defeat. 6 of them are seen as the chapter ends. Apparently they have something to do with finding God, which will appear during the Gourmet Eclipse

Fairy Tail 354

Natsu has made friends with the giants in this chapter. They’re a little surprised that such small people saved them and after the group asks them what happened, they say they don’t remember anything after they took up their weapons to fight. The fact that this started because the guy made a mistake seems odd to the others, but Gray brings up with Doriarte said, about opening the gates of hell.

The group thinks it has to be Tartaros, the last Dark Guild in the trio of the major powers so far. Succubus Eye was a subordinate guild sent. But the question remains of why they froze the village in the first place or even targeted it.

Flare is hiding from the giants and the others bring her existence to light, the giants asking her how the outside world was. She said it was both scary and exciting and they say that’s expected. They’re happy that she’s alive and remind her that this is her home. They welcome her back and Flare cries tears of joy, expressing the same sentiment; that she’s returned. The group parties all night and we shift settings

We see Minerva, shocked at the destroyed state of Succubus Eye’s HQ. She finds something mildly human shaped, a flat doll of sorts. Someone appears behind her explaining that her magic enhances people, but those that are too weak become like that doll. Minerva thinks they did this because they were defeated, but Kyouka, another member of Tartaros’ Kyuukimon, like Silver, says they were simply gathering soldiers and she was testing their limits with her magic.

The chapter ends as Minerva is threatened by Kyouka, presumably using her magic on her as well.
